with new bct update to become a full member need 100 merits and i still have only 10 merits. What is the best way to earn merits
Its very simple, post some good quality posts then it will earn you some merits.  That is the only way you can get or earn merit.If you are getting the merits in some other ways means you are abusing the system and you will get tagged by DT.  I simply don't agree with your thinking mate. First of all we already have some people whose been doing such rules to give their sMerits, And the second one is if you did receive some merit from those people it doesn't mean that you're already abusing and abiding the rules. Maybe there a lot of people like you who only thought that posting with high quality will be the only getting Merits. As for the reason that you're only a quality posters and not giving a goddamn idea about the things that can help other people in some other way to get some points. How many days it took you to gain 10 merits? lets say 'x' days. Then to gain 100 you require 10x days simple LOL
Its not like what you're thinking as for me I reached my rank of Jr. Member after a month but still after a week I already became a Member and now Im still working on my posts to gain some acknowledgement from the others and currently I received 18Merits and already spent my 5sMerits. Time doesnt give a shit about your account ranking up, it depends on how you work. |

I was just thinking since most of the people nowadays are using smartphones in all sorts of activities and all sorts of apps are now being used in our daily routine such as for emails, social media and etc. Can we also develop a mobile app for bitcointalk in both platforms iOS and Android? for a much better way of accessing this forum.
Please advise if there is already an app or a topic that has already been posted regarding this. I am new to bitcoin by the way.
If there is such an app, it would be nice for all the users since I think all of us have smartphones. WIth this some kind of app we'll have an easy access through our forum and no need to wait to load a page from a browser that even take some time. We also find it as a drag and although we are used to it,... its still a hassle thing to do thats why we already have it in our bookmarks to load it eventually. I just hoped that in the future time the admins will create an app for the forums accessibility for the users. Don't you guys think that with the possibility to have Bitcointalk app in our phones the risk of hacked/stolen profiles will raise?
I really do not see any special need in the app, cause of it is not so hard to just open a browser on the phone and log in.
I really dont think it that way because its your own responsibility to keep your own things into safety, and if you're just some lazy careless dude and that will be your own problem not for the other members here in the community. |

What if people convince governments of their nations to make Bitcoin as a legal currency or what if we agree to give tax on our bitcoin income? Will government then make Bitcoin a legal currency.
is it possible that the government wants to negotiate with bitcoins? I think the government still will not legalize bitcoin as currency. because no matter where in a country is already in use the legitimate currency that was in use long ago. I think it's irrelevant to consider btc as a currency at it's current state. It's more of an asset. And not all governments have the same thought about btc. Those that aren't in favor of it right now like china have reasons beyond taxing it. Mate, it's already a currency although its not a fiat but a crypto.And I truly agree with your opinion with the governments decisions. BITCOIN and the other cryptos won't be named as a LEGAL AND ILLEGAL type of currency for which they are in an anonymous transactions. The fact that the fiat transactions are well known to each people whose been using it and making their trades in every way they want then thats the time we can call it legal or either illegal. Even if there are so many users of crypto around the world we cant still deny that the existence of it will also be gone. |

Remaked.
I was reading a thread regarding to the user whose begging for Merit points, and after reading such comments and replies, I intended to come up with an Idea without noticing it would be a Bad Idea.
And I was given by this three (3) people below my post a negative perceptions towards my post which I actually accepted it and deleted my post as fast as I can.
I'm running out of good Ideas what to contribute here in the forum and that's also the reason why I came up with just telling you why did I have such comments below if the OP is even different to what they are infusing.
So many threads that are repeated, and even discussed already in every sections of these forum. With these mistake I happened to learned that it just not a matter of posting to contribute but also to understand each and everyone here in the community.
To those THREE people who suddenly took my post with such replies I humbly thank you for noticing my work even if its a Bad Idea.

Yup im on BCT for one year today, its not the first Crypto Forum I joined but
it is the only one I use.
So I thought I would share a bit of what I have learned to date.
When I first registered I was already an owner of some BTC but was still
learning the ropes.
Other coins in my small portfolio were Ripple, Dash, Ethereum, Litecoin and
Monero but because of boredom and certain threads on the forum I traded
almost all except BTC into what are now called $hitcoins shortly after aquiring
them which were not a great moves. But hey nobody can predict the future.
I also was excited to get into some new projects notably QTUM but when it
first surfaced there was a lot of negativity surrounding some of the team
so I didnt get into it until recently.
2 basic lessons I learned are:
Do your own research before making a move
Have patience
Oh and thanks to the team who keep things ticking over here on BCT.
It is the best Crypto Forum on the web.
Then I would think and suggest that its your Anniversary not your Birthday mate anyways, Congrats for your effort that has been payed off and for the things that you also contributed to our forum, a BIG THANKS for you! I am tired of seeing shitposting pajeets coming to the "Meta" section who are making new threads every hour about the merit system and then shitposting through it trying to ass-lick the merit system and failing horribly at kissing the feet of the Merit sources. I know these people have no life because even after introduction in late January these people still cant understand what merit is and how its earned and what will happen if they attempt to beg for merits. So lets face it. We need a separate board, possibly under "Other" which will be devoted to discussions regarding merit, theymos's official post about merit will be pinned there. All merit related queries will be posted there and all "Rank-up Merit challenges" and such threads will be posted there. This section will be devoid of all signatures as well Now, to the shitposting pajeets who make up 99% of the forum population (If that is a population at all), Please please dont derail the thread saying "Merit is good and all". Of course it will be the main topic as of now because it hasnt been 3months since it was implemented by Theymos, and so many newbies are now joining here in BCT that's why there are so many repeating threads. We can't blame them for being lazy not to read some older posts, people nowadays aren't so diligent to make thise things and thats the reason why they're just shitposting wherever they want. If Theymos would possibly do that, adding a new section for Merit discussion I think he would do it in the first place. Those topics wont even last much longer, its just that they annoys us from seeing that threads beings repeated day by day thats why we've been giving such proposals to dispose it in a nice way. |

i have noticed that our forum is flooded with threads that are created by newbies that post recycled topics, meaning, the topics are already posted and this clearly shows that newbies are not reading, my advise to all newbies, you must read first, learn to back read and study the threads here, do not just post. in doing so, this will prevent you from being locked out, posting a new topic doesn't make you merit-worth or rank up.
to some ranked members, we can help newbies by giving them advise to post quality topics worth of time and informative as possible, we should only reply on topics that has not yet been discussed so we can discourage flooding of nonsense threads.
if you can post some tips here for the newbies who wishes to rank up but deserving to be merited please do so. let us help each other.
some of my advise would be:
1. look for the date of which that topic was created, if it has already hundreds of replies please choose another updated topics to reply at
2. never reply to nonsense inquiry or poll that is illogical
3. learn to write in proper english grammar or at least can be understood by many
4. reply directly to the point, it doesn't matter if it is just a one-liner reply, as long as it is direct to the point, and not full of so many not so important words, a long paragraphed reply is not the basis of having a merit or just to make it look good to your campaign/ bounty managers.
I hope there's a lot of newbies here in forum can read your advice. It can greatly help not only to the beginners as well as to everyone. Were here in forum not just to earn but also we need to learn a lot. How we can gain more knowledge if the topics recycled? IMO, recycling will also help them gain some knowledge, as you can see with the help of the older threads they're having an idea what to do. But in our case, here on our forum it is highly prohibited, and still they're breaking the rules just to gain some activities ,which is wrong. They maybe having a hard time making some prestigious posts and it may also be the reason why they're doing such things. For us with a higher rank, we cant just ignore this, they must be guided. But as you can see its not just the newbies whose been doing some recycled and repeatable threads some of them are on the higher ranks. I really dont know why they've been doing this as for them with such rankings higher than a Member. (Visit the Meta Section and you'll see some posts repeated also by the higher ranks) My advise: If you see something like it should have not been posted, REPORT IT TO THE MODERATOR, even if it takes some time to be removed. |

My vote is yes, for those over 18 years of age. I think all drugs should be available over the counter. A curiousity just came up to my mind because of the repeating threads here in some sections, that's why I just wanna know if Theymos together with the other admins and moderators, are they still here? Are they that really busy on some other things Or they're just hanging around with us through some alt accounts and secretly watching us. But if thats the case what will happen to those repeated posts that we want to be deleted? Isnt there any necessary thing that we can do except on clicking the "Report to the Moderator" button?

Have you ever wondered how would the world's economy be like in the future as a cashless society? Perhaps, with the increased traction of blockchain acceptance nowadays, could lead to the creation of digital fiat currencies powered by blockchains that are managed by governments themselves. With this in mind, there would be no need for physical cash, as digital fiat currencies would provide many advantages such as quick settlement, global payments, full transparency, implants use on citizens to make payments, and more. If this becomes a reality, which I'm sure that it will, it would radically transform our lives for the better and reduce criminal activity as a result of the full transparency and auditability that a digital fiat currency would have thanks to the power of the blockchain technology. Also, it makes me wonder if cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin would exist by that time, or will they co-exist with digital fiat currencies. Nevertheless, I would like to know your opinion about this. This isn't impossible as you can see through the effectiveness of our current technology and also in the near future most of the governments around the world will truly understand how crypto really works together with the blockchains. But still if this will be implemented as soon as our current states, this will lead in such chaos because many of the other countries doesnt have the access and even knowledge about this.
