4001  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Becoming a Store of Value on: March 17, 2021, 04:52:41 PM
Do you think Ethereum has potential to become store of value? Why or why not?
It could very well be, with how Ethereum's price continues to appreciate along with Bitcoin, $1,785 as at the time of posting this, sooner rather than later, as eth price appreciates to around 5k plus down the years, people's belief of the ethereum network will wax stronger causing them to buy and hold with the assurance that even after a plunge or correction, it'll bounce back/appreciate again, which will make it more of just a store of value or an investment.

But having said that, like I've said a couple of times about the Bitcoin network, it doesn't really matter how people use the eth network, there could be a myriad of purposes and they all work for the good of the network, a store of value, a currency, whats pertinent is the growth of the eth network and it's community of investors.
4002  Economy / Economics / Re: Can the average buying of some companies be considered a sign of the bottom? on: March 14, 2021, 03:59:13 PM
All companies that have bought Bitcoin will sell it at some point, and this point will mostly be this year.
There's still a continuous printing of more money, Inflation and hyperinflation is even yet to come with full force to haunt most countries, and it definitely will, these companies bought Bitcoin mostly as a hedge to escape all this and protect some of their assets from devaluation and the negative effects of the pandemic; why then are they going to sell the same Bitcoin now, converting it back into fiat that's awaiting the very inflation/devaluation they are trying to escape from.
4003  Other / Meta / Re: How can we protect Newbies from getting scammed? on: March 14, 2021, 03:13:54 PM
I suggest to every newbie who post a new thread in the Bitcoin Technical Support or the Wallet Software and Child Boards to get a warning to not disclose their pr.keys seeds, wallet files and avoid contacts in PMs...
It takes newbies quite a while before they make posts in Bitcoin Technical Support or other technical boards, their first board of contact is usually the Beginners and help section, thus that warning in the more technical boards may actually not be productive as you hope it will; I know the technical boards is more suitable for posts/inquiries on wallets, recovery, seeds etc and if there should be any warning of any sort it should be there, but newbies make such inquiries in other/any boards and they'll definitely miss the warning.

Having said that, it's going to be a hassle implementing this, especially if it's going to be in all sections of the forum to be certain it'll not be missed, but there are things that people should not be told, when transacting with traditional currencies they are already aware that there are informations about your bank/debit card that should not be revealed, thus why not the same with Bitcoin, I'm not saying people should not be forewarned, but it's absolutely impossible to protect everyone and hassle-filled to protect a fairly large number of people, as they join the network they should firstly learn the inherent security protocols themselves, and ask general/open questions on informations and situations that are somewhat nebulous to them, not sending a single user a PM on the issue.
4004  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 14, 2021, 02:33:08 PM
Manchester United are set to give manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer a new deal, with his current contract due to enter its final year later this month. After changing a lot of coaches in the last few years, it seems that Manchester has finally found a long-term solution in the position of coach.
I don't know if that's a good or bad news for Manchester United fans, I thought this was prolly going to be OGS's last season as United's manager as I don't think the club has moved forward under his tutelage, United have provided OGS will quality players, enough for him to win a trophy, but with the looks of things United are going to finish the season without a trophy yet again, if he continues as manager next season, he definitely must win something to keep his job, a team of United's class ought to start winning major trophies.
Barcelona are not planning to remove manager Ronald Koeman after Joan Laporta became the club's president for a second time. Does anyone believe them?  Grin
Koeman will be lucky to keep his job as Barcelona's head coach, though imo, Barca's problem is bigger than just Koeman, any manager atm will struggle in Barcelona, the club needs to fix all their issues, from signing new players, to solving the disunity within the team and it's hierarchy, it'll take some time before we see the 'old' Barcelona again.
4005  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bounty hunters, report spam to receive higher bounties on: March 14, 2021, 01:56:48 PM
The duty of keeping a campaign spam free begins with the bounty manager, thus if the BM hires just any user, notwithstanding if the user is a good or shit poster, then there's no way the campaign can be spam free and you'd not expect the participants of the campaign to do the job of searching for shitposts, and having said that, even if they will or want to, then it shouldn't be cause they want a higher payment, but cause they want to somewhat keep the forum free of spam.

It's pretty easy to be constructive to say the least, and users who are more often than not unconstructive are only prolly posting cause they got into one campaign or the other and come what may want to meet up with their weekly requirements even with the most minimal of efforts, so it's the BM's job to stop that by not hiring such users.
4006  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Advantages and disadvantages of keeping Smerit on: March 14, 2021, 12:23:20 PM
Of course quite a lot of users have their own diverse reasons why they hoard their smerits (not that they should), but imo, the two most sensible reason will be if such user doesn't have a large number of Smerits, and is just only being judicious with it, giving it to the post which reach his threshold in terms of standard and quality, though that subject is highly subjective, or a user doesn't fancy getting involved with the merit system as a whole.

But then, there are MS's, and AFAIK they do not have any reason to hodl their Smerits as it gets replenished by Theymos. There'll never be a hard and fast rule as regards merits due to its subjective nature and the axiom that users can do as they deem fit with their Smerits, until prolly the idea of burning/decaying hoarded Smerits is introduced in the forum.
4007  Economy / Economics / Re: Use of cryptocurrencies, a concern – IMF on: March 14, 2021, 04:39:04 AM
So, that means is you could find someone who uses an exchange, find the exchange address they were given, see the address they sent money from to their exchange and follow them up from there all from blockchain.
Centralized exchanges hold your data/info as well as your private keys in your web wallet, but it doesn't mean they'll give that information to just anyone, your post above isn't only specific to Exchange addresses, you can somewhat trace any address on the blockchain network, but the only information you'll be able to get is just the addresses it received from/sent to, but the personnel behind all the transactions remains unseen.

Having said that, the difference is now that, with other wallets that you hold your private keys, if you've not converted crypto via an exchange, there's no way a transaction can be traced to the point of knowing who you are, but if you've used a centralized exchange, on a serious order from the government your identity could be revealed to them, but that order wouldn't just come from anyone, but the government. There are other risks with exchanges and that's data hack/leak, and that's one way your data can find its way into the hands of scammers in the black market.
4008  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: March 14, 2021, 04:17:08 AM
Manchester city players one more time show to the premier league fans how strong and fantastice they are...another 3 goals scored in just 45 and the most impresive thing was the defence because fulham player wasnt able to mad any shot on goal in the whole match
Their defense is exactly what has been talked about all season long, they have always been a great attacking team, putting together some unbelievable football, but their defense always seem to let them down, but that has changed this season, Pep has finally gotten the solid defense he has always craved for, and that obviously makes them so difficult to beat and that's why they are top of the league.

City have now bounced back from their Derby day defeat to United with two straight victories (against Southampton & Fulham), scoring eight goals in the process, which definitely has brought back their confidence and just a couple more wins is left for them to be crowned champions, winning the quadruple is still very much a possibility for City.
4009  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAmWATCH] Fxtrademax.com Is Fake Site on: March 13, 2021, 08:14:49 PM
Fxtrademax is another shithole of a site looking so real but very fake promising unrealistic returns in other to lure crypto newbies to their scam farm.
The newcomers sometimes do not even know which returns is realistic or not cause of their built up misconception that Bitcoin/crypto is a 'get rich quick scheme', thus $9 returns daily could seem achievable whereas it's not; and that's why they can thus fall victim to this popular scam. Those behind Fxtrademax did a really pretty good job cloning the site, plus all the fake testimonials, I hardly believe those stuffs, cause it's pretty easy for a website to post positive testimonials of themselves and claim it was from satisfied customers.
...prefer to use legit sites like binance which have less than 2% annual profit for bitcoin but in a way it will be calculated and be given daily than fake ones.
It's pretty much better, but people's avarice will lure them to fake sites cause the legitimate ones don't look too attractive in terms of the returns and many of them just want to get rich quite fast.
4010  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: March 13, 2021, 03:01:02 PM
So who else got screwed by Chelski today?
Quite a lot of gamblers I'm sure, but the fans I'm pretty sure will be licking their lips after this result will be the West Ham fans, again Chelsea have given them some bit of hope to get back into fourth place UCL spot, currently on 48 points and three points behind Chelsea with two games in hand, with the sort of form they have shown of late, I think they'll be heading back to fourth place after playing those two outstanding games.
4011  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Habits to keep your bitcoin secure on: March 13, 2021, 10:08:06 AM
Basically almost every procedure to keep your Bitcoin safe and protected has been mentioned in this thread, but I'd like to include one that's somewhat unorthodox, and that it's important to avoid telling everyone about your crypto holdings, this one is pretty much the easiest rule to keep, but yet broken by a lot of people, it's 'sinful' to go on telling people you have Bitcoins, they more often than not have the misconception that you're rich and that creates the possibility of a $5 wrench attack, or any sort of physical attack on you.
4012  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where's the altcoin bull on: March 13, 2021, 09:33:02 AM
...so when it comes to old altcoins only the ones that are the most solid and that have the most recognition have any chance of breaking their previous all time highs.
I second that as well, like Ethereum as an example, imo, it's pretty different from other coins considering how stable eth has been for the past couple of years, and thus as expected it broke it's former all time high during this Bitcoin bull run, having said that, most of these altcoins are pump and dump coins, so they basically just dump after their hype, and there's no way to expect them to break their all time high, even as investors await the altcoin bull run, it should be expected only from altcoins that have a good ecosystem and that is somewhat sustainable in the long run.
4013  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which cryptocurrencies will be around in 10 years and why? on: March 13, 2021, 09:13:43 AM
I know quite a lot of uncertainties hang around dex cryptocurrencies, but Bitcoin itself has already been in the market for more then ten years already, and it's development doesn't look like stopping anytime soon, not to talk of the heights of adoption its attaining of late with the influx of institutional Investors and other big time prominent business men, Elon Musk for example, thus, I don't see any need to worry about Bitcoins sustainability for another ten years, it's definitely going to even be around for even longer.

Another dex crypto I value is ethereum, there are quite a lot of good things happening on the ethereum network, with it's community of investors growing at a fast pace and the price spiking sky high, I have no doubt Eth is a long term coin.
4014  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 12, 2021, 07:46:38 PM
Chelsea alongside Manchester United are in talks with Mino Raiola for AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma' the 22yo Italy international have his contract at the San Siro runs out in the summer.
Why will Chelsea be interested in signing another goalkeeper, they just bought Mendy a couple of weeks ago, and he's been fantastic for the blues, they've spent some good money on goalkeepers in the last couple of years, Kepa was a big money signing and he was a flop, now they have a reliable goalkeeper in Mendy, I see no reason to chase Donnarumma that's going to cost them a huge amount.

Having said that, if United are truly interested, then it makes more sense cause David De Gea could be leaving Old Trafford, though I thought United will put more faith in Dean Henderson and prolly sign just a back up keeper, but if they get Donnarumma, Henderson will be more or less a makeshift keeper, cause Gianluigi is much better.
4015  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: March 12, 2021, 07:28:34 PM
The problem is for Chelsea and Madrid, they scored only 1 goal, their opponents are quite good and in case of a draw, it will be very complicated. I think one of those teams will be eliminated.
Imo, I don't see how that's a problem, they both played against good quality teams, if anything, what they have is a very good advantage going into the second leg, in the UCL, it's very important to win the first leg tie, that's not to say the opposition cannot do a comeback, but that's only if the leading team allows the advantage to slip away.

Madrid will surely go through to the QF, the problem is with Chelsea, Athletico are a pretty strong team and anything could happen in the second leg, but the thing is that for now, the advantage rests with Chelsea.
4016  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: March 12, 2021, 06:54:28 PM
...also atleteco will play an away match agzints barcelona and this could be a very hard match for them...
Imo this match will go a long way in deciding which team is going be Spanish champions at the end of this season, Barcelona will hope Athletico drop at least three points before that game, so a win for them will take them to first place, whilst if Athletico tries to be consistent in other games, and at least get a draw against Barcelona, I believe that'll be enough for them to be champions, there's still quite a lot of points to be played for, and there could be a couple more twists and turns along the way.
Of course, I really hope this will be a game that will bring Barcelona and Atletico closer together. Currently the difference in point between the two is only 6 and it is still very possible for Atletico to drop points in a few more match. Meanwhile, Barcelona will only focus on the domestic league because it has left the champions league. That will give players more rest when it comes to pre-match preparation.
Athletico only have themselves to blame, they were far ahead of Barcelona, but dropped quite some points for them (Barca) to close the gap to just six, making it more than recoverable, I don't think the UCL Is going to play too much of a part in deciding the champions, and btw, Athletico are one goal down heading into their second leg CL game against Chelsea, so they well could be out of the UCL as well, and then face the Laliga. If at the end Athletico aren't Champions of Spain, their fans will be pretty much disappointed, having sat at the summit for quite a long time, only to let the title slip out of their grasp.
4017  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is for Holders! on: March 12, 2021, 02:01:35 PM
BITCOIN is for Hodlers
Not for weak hands
(I had read it somewhere, can't remember right now)
By 'weak hands', I'll take it to mean short term investors, but yet short term Investors as well make ROI from selling their stash, that's why Bitcoin is basically for any user, its on you to use Bitcoin in the way you deem fit, AFAIK, there is as yet no generally acceptable way to use Bitcoin, and imo, all the diverse uses all contribute in making the network what it is and moving it forward, to mainstream adoption as we hope possible.

Having said that, as long as you're not influenced by FUD or small price corrections, and your decision to either sell or hold is on you, then that's prolly the best way to approach the Bitcoin network.
4018  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will replace the Silver Marketcap on: March 12, 2021, 08:29:12 AM
..I don't think companies would easily back down from their investment in crypto, they are in it for the long term AFAIK.
I second that as well, I'm also concerned about how long institutional Investors joining the network intend to stay with Bitcoin, quite a lot of users have voiced their concern on the influx of these investors and if they are just going to pull out sometime soon, taking their ROI and what that will do to the Bitcoin network, negatively of course. But I beg to agree with you, it doesn't look like these investors are short term investors judging by how much money they are investing/hedging with, I also believe the network will recover and find another factor to propel it forward, evading a serious crash if these investors back out sooner rather than later.
...but what we hope is that bitcoin can overtake gold. if this could happen it seems very extraordinary and proud for us to see today.
That atm looks rather unlikely, Gold is an asset that is considered a 'safe-haven', quite a lot of people believe Bitcoin is falling into that category gradually, but for now it's not just yet there, imo, before BTC can come close to Gold, it should have been mainstream by then, and that will take a really pretty long time.
4019  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: March 11, 2021, 06:35:53 AM
Already 2 big teams out. The circle is closing.
It sure is closing, and for the big teams/favorites like Bayern and City, they'll be happy two really big teams are already out of their way, making things somewhat easier, though in the CL, one can get knocked out by any team, but nonetheless it's much better to face Porto, than Barcelona in a UCL QF.
That is true but it wasnt very decisive as you make it out to be. Would have been 5-3 with still 2 goal lead. Wouldnt have been much trouble for PSG.
I don't think so, that penalty came in the first half, if Messi had scored, that gives them extra momentum heading into the second half, they prolly might not have had their comeback, but it could have made the second half more interesting and put more pressure on PSG in the second 45 minutes.
4020  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The knowledge we seek on: March 10, 2021, 05:05:26 PM
Knowledge is paramaount and to every business proper understanding on how its been transacted is important.
Whilst knowledge is obviously important in cryptocurrency, especially in the part of protecting your funds from scammers, but calling cryptocurrency or Bitcoin a business is wrong imo, it makes it sound more like a 'get rich quick thing'.
Taking for example mining which involves executing simples tasks in which one of it is rolling of dice.
This is not true, except you're talking about mining one shitcoin or the other which in itself sometimes is risky for you to do, as you put your funds and device at risk, mining Bitcoin is definitely more than executing simple tasks, you need to be able to afford the electricity costs, purchase Super computers, compete with other miners etc.
My advice to newbies would likely be to pick atleast two or more active forum posters who has quality in their article and ensure reading their posts with proper understanding each time the post new articles and also how the reply to existing posts so as to add to your existing skill thereby adding tremendous value to your articles.
Newbies could misunderstand this advice and I think it's somewhat wrong, doing this will only lead to over dependence on certain users, the entire forum is a repertoire of knowledge, learn from majority of it's users, and Information you find prolly incorrect or misleading, you could create and thread to ask questions about it.
