I see many new accounts with legit question or who are looking for support. Some are already annoyed by the post limit. Pestering them further with a captcha on top of that might drive them away. Id like to think that you get pretty good support here.

I understand genuine new accounts would be annoyed by a captcha and / or post restrictions, but hey, tough shit, they'll get over it and understand if they're genuine. And whats more they'll understand if its cleaning up the forum. As already mentioned most new accounts are not real / genuine people. And how many posts does a brand new account have to make? If you're here to learn you read, read and read some more. Then if you feel confident enough you ask a question. In my experience that was hours or even days after joining a new forum. Most of these new accounts are posting within minutes with junk or basic questions that have already been answered a million times before, this is not the normal behavior of someone that's just joined a forum. It's of someone that's done it before and has ulterior motives.

I have signed up to many forums in the last 20 / 25 years with my other interests including football, cars, work related etc. and sometimes had to wait hours for my first posts to be approved and on some for the first replies to approved as well. This didn't bother me in the slightest because I was genuine and wanted to learn something. I also understood it eliminated the crap 100%.

Lets not forget this is by far the biggest bitcoin forum and the one everyone wants to join. Making it difficult for the trash will clean up the forum and give the genuine users a better experience. Also, being bitcoin related it attracts all the scum in cyber world like flies round shit.

I say lets get tough on new account sign ups because all the crap is driving genuine people away.

Im not sure you are correct with your assessment of new users, on the other hand you, me and many of our "account age" suffered through newbie jail. Maybe my tolerance for shit is higher, but I rarely have the "this is so bad I dont want to be part of the human race anymore" feeling here. If I do, its mostly because higher ranked accounts that obviously post for their signature and have no idea what they are writing about. I dont think its bad enough to warrant more restrictions.

Maybe there will be new features on the improved forum.
4022  Other / New forum software / Re: Will Position and Usernames be transferred to the new forum? on: December 19, 2015, 11:34:43 AM
Everything except passwords. IIRC it was disclosed that users would need to reset their passwords via email prior to logging in the first time.

That's how it'll be during the beta, but after total migration there'll need to be a somewhat-hidden page for using your old password. Otherwise people with invalid emails would get locked out.

Any way to apply for a beta testing spot? I assume you want to limit the number of people and probably have enough, just curious.
4023  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Question about BTC transaction on: December 19, 2015, 11:33:03 AM
Well, for this tx I used a third party to handle my coins so I don't have direct control and can't rebroadcast :S I'm trying to get in contact with them but just out of curiosity, how long does it take for a node to drop a tx by itself?

Sure you can rebroadcast it. Just get the raw TX e.g. from -> https://blockchain.info/tx/5613f7de027a76011cb6ab88488ade90dd1a330f2c451846c4680c27fcb1a6e5?format=hex

Code:
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

and push it via your own node or a service that is offering this -> https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Transaction_broadcasting

We cant tell you how long exactly it will take every node to forget about your TX, but its a matter of days rather than hours. If you want I can rebroadcast your TX every ~1 hour.
4024  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Program Python3 to check address balance in Bitcoin Core on: December 19, 2015, 11:16:48 AM
I test to check the balance with external service:

http://blockexplorer.com/q/addressbalance/address
https://blockchain.info/es/q/addressbalance/address

I need more links.
Does anyone know any more direction?

Thanks

Blocktrail has an API that can do that.

You are not, anyone here can leave any feedback they like, unless its spam. The system is also not moderated, thus you have to clear the issue with the person that left the rating.

Is it a crime to sell third-party app with source and copyright if, i'm authorize to do so?

No, just provide proof that you are authorized and the rating will be removed. EcuaMobi is a reasonable person.

With due respect,i employ the support team of this forum to look into the issue.

As stated above, trust is not moderated.

Secondly,@EcuaMobi or whatsoever you call yourself be prepare because i'm coming after you. although, not in this forum

Sounds like a threat to me. Why would you threated someone if you have the rights to sell the software?

And with all respect to the member's of this forum a close look at his profile at :https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=169515
leave's me speechless on how he became a hero Member. Probably, he bought the account from a third-party and decided to intimidate people who are new to this forum.

was geht schneller ?

was heißt alt ?

4028  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Troubles compiling Electrum for Windows on: December 19, 2015, 04:05:08 AM
Finally got it compiled.... it was really a pain in the ass.
why you compiled this for window when we can download already compiled wallet from website?

Self compiling does not require trust if you can read the code.
4029  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Restore Wallet.dat on: December 19, 2015, 03:43:21 AM
Yes, if it's not encrypted. If it's encrypted, they'll have a hard time cracking it, but if it's not, too bad. The wallet.dat is basically a canister that holds your bitcoin. You should password-protect it and encrypt it at all times. Try using Truecrypt. Its great.

The person could just import his/her wallet.dat into their wallet file, and kapow. If there's no encryption, there goes your bitcoin! *waves*

The build in encryption by bitcoin core is pretty good (in comparisson to other wallets). I can do ~1700 passwords per second with my GPU vs. a bitcoin core wallet. E.g. vs. multibit classic I can easily do 400kP/s on my CPU. Multibit HD is a great improvement in that regard.

You might want to consider VeraCrypt as it fixes some of TrueCrypt's bugs and is still maintained.
4030  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Active Connections on: December 19, 2015, 03:34:22 AM
...multibit currently compromises your privacy by sending small amounts of bitcoins directly to multibit developer from your every transaction.
...

Huh? Where did you get this from?

-> https://www.multibit.org/en/help/hd0.1/fees.html

Client fee. Whether or not that compromises your privacy depends on how you use multibit. I would also think that it was changed as 1000 satoshi would be considered dust currently. That would hold up confirmations.

We bundle up these small amounts so that you pay once every twenty sends or so from your wallet.
4031  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Program Python3 to check address balance in Bitcoin Core on: December 19, 2015, 03:29:37 AM
Hello

I need to make a program in python 3 for check the balance for any bitcoin address.
My idea is use the bitcoin core and check the blockchain stored in my computer.
Is posible?
Could anyone give an example?

Thanks

Bitcoin core does not keep a balance for addresses that are not part of the wallet. You would need to build your own database.
4032  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Transactions taking very long time to Confirm on Weekends and Friday nights on: December 19, 2015, 03:20:35 AM
Is there a reason behind this phenomenon? I've paid generous txn fees at times but it is taking longer than usual to get 1 confirmation and this mostly happen on weekends or friday evenings. Is this a common occurrence?

Yes, bitcoin usage is higher on weekends than it is on week days. Not by much though. Want to share a TX ID?
4033  Other / Meta / Re: Hilarious bots posting nonsense: what's the point? on: December 19, 2015, 03:16:53 AM
It is easy to manually make the accounts and then put the bots to post.
Having captchas for posting would block that.
It is true it would be annoyance for legit newbies, but spam bots posting is annoyance for all legit users, not just newbies.

Very true and lets be honest, 99.9% of new accounts are either scammers, spammers, trolls, alts or account farmers. Or in other words of absolutely no value to this forum whatsoever. The forum would be a cleaner better place without them.

Yes it would be a slight inconvenience for the rare genuine new account but they pale into insignificance when compared to the number of crap accounts being created every day.

I see many new accounts with legit question or who are looking for support. Some are already annoyed by the post limit. Pestering them further with a captcha on top of that might drive them away. Id like to think that you get pretty good support here.

Beispiel: https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/tx/e8eec09d9251541e82cbfd7e5f1adfb65ce798b133cb47b6f29742be134c9809

#1 520 byte
#2 3
#3 2
#4 Nein
#5 0.0001 0427

Go here and change the depth to 3, then you'll see me as trusted. But yeah, as dogie once said, DT 3 is as good as DT 10.

Okay, but how did you got in there? I know that someone gets in DT3 only if he has a good trust rating? Whereas, you have only a rating of +7 Huh

The rating is not important. IIRC I had 0 positive ratings when I was added. Mexxer-2 is on EcuaMobi's and hedgey73's List. Since both are on DT2, mexxer-2 is on DT3.

I can also see that tradefortress with a rating of -9999 is on DT2 Huh

TF is no longer on DT2.

So can you tell me how can I enlist my name there? Cry

You will need to convince someone that is already on default trust to consider you trustworthy enough to be added.

Did you bribe some positive rated members? Wink Grin Roll Eyes

EDIT: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1294701

This is not the way to achieve that IMHO.
4037  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core (64 Bit) - Error Opening Database Solution? on: December 18, 2015, 02:52:03 PM
Yes, the file you are looking for is called wallet.dat

#1 close bitcoin core
#2 open run (Win + R), enter %APPDATA%\Bitcoin and confirm with ok. It will open an explorer window at the correct location.
#3 copy the wallet.dat
#4 find the same folder on the other machine
#5 rename(!) the existing wallet.dat to e.g. wallet.dat.old
#6 put the copy from #3 in its place
#7 start bitcoin core

If you want to use an entirely different wallet programm you need to export the private keys, but for that you will need a working bitcoin core version. It must not be fully synced, but you must be able to access the console (Help -> Debug window -> console)

Yes you're abusing my trust rating!!! Vod has already marked me negative. Thats it. Why DO YOU GUYS NEED TO MARK IT NEGATIVE AGAIN AND AGAIN?! It won't become more red due to this. So basically one rating is fine. Others are just useless.

They serve as a backup should Vod no longer be on the default trust network in the future.

Also markj113 sent me 2 feedbacks. I think you are playing with your balls and nothing else. Roll Eyes

Two seperate feedback by the same person do not change your overal rating.

Omg.. i just upgraded my wallet, ran the application and it displayed my current stats, etc. Just closed it and then re-opened and it saids i need to wait 4years and i have 0BTC balance?

It's resetting the blockchain, you will have your BTC back once it is finished but it won't take 4 years, that's just the time frame in the blockchain it's at.

That does not sound right. An update to the latest version should not remove the blockchain data.

I have my old bitcoin.exe, and the new upgraded bitcoin.exe, when i upgraded my wallet and ran the application it was upgraded and it displayed everything correctly (still missing the 6btc however).
Then i closed that, and i accidental clicked the old bitcoin.exe, and then closed that to open my new one and now i need to wait 3 years and 50 weeks.. is there anything i can do?

First things first: make sure you have a backup of your wallet.dat file.

If you say you have the .exe files. Do you have them in seperate folders? Because usually if you install a new version of bitcoin core it just installs over the old version. So there should be no old .exe to click on.

The way newer versions handle the blockchain differently as they can store it out of order (block 7443 before block 435). Thus if you start the old .exe file it would probably get confused by the data and try to rescan from scratch.
