4021  Economy / Auctions / Re: Get a BFL Single without the long wait! (Falling Price Auction - No Min) on: May 27, 2012, 09:53:37 PM
Ah, I'm paying $.07/KWH so I'm not quite at the stage of having FPGAs/BFLs being cost effective. The only reason I would want one, is because my house is quite hot, and I can't mine because of it. My house hits 90 degrees pretty frequently, and is at 86-88 at all times, so I don't want to add the extra heat. If I found a good deal on a lot of mining equipment, Id probably rent a building just to run them.

I think at these temperatures your single will be overheating and start to throttle. I don't own one but someone from BFL mentioned optimal operating temperature is 72F / 22C.

yes it was stolen.  he walked off with the money.  to be fair he spent some of that on web fees, hosting, development, Red Bull, etc, but the majority he walked off with.

there are several other ppl here on the forum who got hosed too but not as much as me.

if he is not tagged as a scammer please tell me how to do that since that's exactly what he is.

His identity is known to Nefario as far as I know, info on whois and quick google search give some results too, how come no one managed to extract the money.
He ran with 1000 BTC last summer, so the amount owed could be around $10k. Not bad for a 14 year old.

What will stop people from going around with a Proxmark and cloning those cards?

I think don't think Jered posted final figures on how much user fraud cost TradeHill overall

I think he mentioned $100k somewhere but I'm not 100% sure.

P.S. Add shakaru too, about $22k in dollars and bitcoins

I wanted to make such a list myself too for a few days already but glad someone else wasn't as lazy as me.

You forgot to add moonco.in and a few more probably Wink

What I'm doing is somewhat like this: I take memorable sentence, for example Old Mac Donald Had a Farm. Then I pick only the last and first letter of each word: dOcMdDdHamF.
But slightly more complicated (for my actual password I use two sentences, with some numbers and strange 'slang words' that only make sense to me).

You should never say this this sort of stuff to anyone. I once managed to guess someone's password by asking them what's a good password  Tongue

If you could choose full or partial coverage of the overhang...  certainly full would be an easy choice.  I'm just pointing out that the practical value of doing so in this case is nil.   This is the result of our thermal simulations in designing the heatsink.  The reason the few mm on the edge of the spreader are left uncovered is for package fitting.

Not that again, please...

Off topic! Moderators do something!!

Wasn't sure in which Bitcoinica topic to post.

... meanwhile let me speculate with you: All hosting I know has regulation saying that you will not have to pay for days that their service is offline if that is above a certain percentage. None of them askes how much the service is worth running per hour and surely none of them cares if you put crypto tokens on it that can be stolen. Most likely if you want to off-load that risk, you would have to find an insurance and if I were an insurance I would certainly not insure bitcoins that lay outside of my influence. insure - steal -claim it wasn't you - profit.

Just read their Terms of Service here: http://www.linode.com/tos.cfm
I wonder if they were different prior to the hack? If anyone has a copy we could see if there is still any hope apart from seeing if their current ToS is valid according to law.

Anyone know what happened after the linode hack? Linode was clearly responsible, I wonder if they covered the damages and repaid to Bitcoinica.

If you want to exchange for bitcoins try to exchange them back to fiat as soon as possible because (don't keep the BTC for more than a week), as you probably know, until quite recently 25% was how much BTC's value could change in a day, not a year like with your Argentinian pesos.

If there is a good or service offered on these forums that you disapprove of don't buy/use it and don't talk about it. This is the best way you can fight someone, if there is no demand they will stop offering it. If you stop giving them free advertising less people will hear of them.  Smiley

What about floating container with an anchor? The seller would leave it somewhere in the ocean and then give its coordinates to a buyer.

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/four-tons-marijuana-found-floating-off-southern-california-170826556.html

Every great idea is destined to be copied, and implemented poorly.

You don't anchor at the ocean you have to keep moving. Only cases are sea anchors used during storms or you could anchor for a while if the water was very shallow and calm but someone would still have to be put on watch.

19.2kWh but at what price per kWh?

If you meant power draw then 19.2kW would be correct.

watt [W] = unit of power = J/s = kg*m^2/s^3 = N*m/s
watt*second [W*s] = Joule = kg*m^2/s^2 = N*m

Care to reveal your identity then? Or in any way prove that people can trust you with their money? I think saying 'the site is running already for several months with success' doesn't prove anything if you look at Moonco.in, MyBitcoin, Bicoin7 and others.

Were you always at your computer at that time? Sometimes I keep an open tab with the forum but do other things.

Looking at the amounts of coins people got he didn't want to get rid of most of the money but to make sure more people have tainted coins.

People from all walks of life not to mention those who trade for SC on the exchanges.  In spite of the negative comments posted against SC/MC, the exchanges demonstrate the interest and confidence the world has in the work being done to make it a success. Take the owners of BTC-e.com for instance. Would the owner of a VERY profitable service offer SC if it were not viable? Regardless of how much people try to discourage others from getting involved with SC/MC due to fear from competition, the momentum will continue and the exchanges and investors will continue to support it due to the backing it has.

Who are the ''investors'', again? Exchanges? Who is using this currency for buying/selling of products/services? For now I only see a few individuals speculating and looking for idiots.

Protip
Try elsewhere!

In view of the minimal volume of currencies pairs RUC/USD and the SC/USD from April 15 trades with them will be closed.

WHO is behind BetsofBitco.in?

The layout of the site is very similar to moonco.in

indian domain
false whois info
private whois
anonymous hosting on sechelles

I have a feeling the same person is behind both websites.
