4021  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can't solve this issue no matter what I try. on: July 29, 2021, 03:46:29 PM
Set the default settings for the BIOS.
Try to install Hive OS. It will not take long, and you will understand what the problem is. If the video card is not detected in Hive os, then you need to write on the Gigabyte forum. Perhaps this is some kind of compatibility problem.
Such cards work for me without additional settings with 5600 XT video cards
4022  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: HELP!! Is it possible to use old laptop for solo mine bitcoin to try some luck? on: July 29, 2021, 03:37:54 PM
Hi guys,
             I am relatively new to bitcoin and absolutely new to bitcoin mining/any sort of mining. Although chance of success is ~0, I am trying to solo mine bitcoin using my dual core laptop with NVidia GeForce GT 740m to try my luck. I am using cgminer v3.7.2 as the mining software and bitcoin core v0.21.1. I use the following lines in bitcoin configuration file:

server=1
listen=1
daemon=1
rpcuser='xxxx'
rpcpassword='yyyy'
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=8332

            then run cgminer using "http://127.0.0.1:8332" as url, "xxxx" and "yyyy" as username and password. but the cgminer shows as:

[2021-07-26 16:04:49] Probing for an alive pool
[2021-07-26 16:04:51] Pool 0 slow/down or URL or credentials invalid

anybody please help Roll Eyes
It's not even a lottery game, but a way to destroy your laptop. It makes no sense to mine something on such equipment, because you need a video card with at least 3 GB in order to mine some well-known coins.
At least read some theoretical information before you start mining and don't scoff at your old laptop.
4023  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ordered for colourful mining MoBO got something else on: July 29, 2021, 03:29:00 PM
Brave Chinese people have done it again, I ordered for a 8 pcie slots mining motherboard and I waited for good four weeks to get the motherboard here only to find out that the motherboard has only two slots, one pcie x16 and one x1 slot,  Grin Grin Grin are Chinese people now scammers or what?
Can you suggest a store where you can buy all this?
Are you looking at market prices for the item you are ordering?
If your motherboard costs $ 100 from most vendors, and you buy it for $ 50-60, then you shouldn't be surprised when you open the package.
It will be a non-working motherboard or other model
4024  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What will you build with 10,000$ on: July 29, 2021, 03:24:02 PM
I have 10,000$ I can risk on mining farm or rigs what is the fastest way to get ROI back with this money?is there any expert in this forum that can give me their own strategy if they have such money to risk on mining? I'm in for long term so I'm not in rush
Follow the profit after the London hard fork on Ethereum. If the profit changes, miners will start moving to other algorithms.
Look at the MSRP of video cards so as not to overpay
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5351713.0
Buy 3060 and 3070 or 6700 and 6800, they have the least problems. But be aware that your payback may take several years.
4025  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining rig on: July 29, 2021, 03:18:24 PM

Which one are you? Don't you worry about ETH PoS isn't not happening anytime soon also we have Ergo which is most profitable on cards with HBM2 memory eg Vega 56 & 64
If you want to buy equipment that has been mining cryptocurrencies for more than 4 years, then the price should be very attractive. Miners will not sell good equipment, and there are a lot of video cards that malfunction or cannot be overclocked on the market. I have 5 video cards that mine stably only without overclocking. I don't want to cheat other miners and sell them video cards.
4026  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Statistics of recommended retail prices for video cards on: July 29, 2021, 03:12:18 PM
No freaking way that this is going to be possible soon, tell BTC to go back to 20k then maybe this is possible, if BTC goes down ETH and other pow algorithm coins will follow, if BTC goes over 40 again GPUs will spike in price once again

They are already in spike compared to the MSRP prices listed above,1200 EUR for RTX 3070 and 1600 or more for RTX 3080 right now.The only good option which I am still having difficulty to find is the GTX 1080 ti at 42-45 Mhsh but they are still at 600 EUR or more in price.Since the price of coins from August and up is predicted to be going in the upside I think those prices of MSRP we can forget about as they will not be possible anymore unless newer GPU-s are produced and there is no shortage in chips.
For 600-700 dollars, I would be looking for a 5600XT video card.
It gives 38-45 megahashes and consumes from 82 to 110 watts, depending on the settings. The GTX 1080 ti is already a very old video card and consumes 180-200 watts when using the minimum power consumption.
Bottom of the newbies is a good guideline for how much prices to buy video cards.
4027  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Would you still build rigs with 4gb cards on: July 28, 2021, 04:41:43 PM
Can you dare build a rig with rx470 4gb in 2021? Is this still a good idea? The reason I asked is these 4gb GPUs are so cheap online right now, I can get a rx470,480, 570,580 4g memory for roughly 200 to 230$ right now, it's a very tempting offer, I do wish they are 8gb though
If you want to learn how to mine and build farms on your own, then 1000 dollars for 5 RX 470 video cards will be a good offer. In six months, the prices for video cards will fall and you can replace these video cards with more modern ones.
My 4x474 mining farm consumes 540 watts from the wall, but my power supply is Silver. On the Gold power supply, the power consumption will be about 500 watts. Daily profit 5-6 dollars
4028  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining rig on: July 28, 2021, 04:17:58 PM
The problem is that my current GPU is very low : GTX 1050 with only 2 Go VRAM inside, which is not enough to download Eth Dag (for example).

For Website like Amazon France, I don't find any rig with the GPU installed : i can only find Rig without GPU. Maybe i didn't write the right keyword.
For Ebay, i can find rig with GPU installed but i don't know if I can trust sellers on Ebay (related to GPU rigs).
Standard question: How much do you pay for electricity? Wait for the London hard fork on Ethereum and see what the profit will be.
The price of video cards is decreasing every month, I don't think that investing in mining is the best solution now.
Maybe on the condition of very cheap electricity.

Thank you for your advice !
My idea is even if ETH will not me as good as before, there will be other coin that can replace it (ETH classic or others).
My eletricity fee is quite cheap, that is one of the reason I wanted to start mining.
If you want to get into mining and not have a lot of problems, then don't buy hot video cards like 3080 and 3090.
Look for good prices for 3060 or 3070 or AMD analogs that consume no more than 130 watts. If you want to mine with new video cards.
The 2060 and 2070 are good graphics cards for mining and they don't get warm.
4029  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Gtx1060 Vs P106-100 on: July 28, 2021, 04:10:11 PM
Between P106-100 and gtx1060 6gb which is a better investment? I heard they are roughly the same when it comes to power consumption for mining ETH, is there any advantage over the other?
Now it may not be worth buying the P106-100 and gtx1060 6gb because they are very old.
gtx1060 has proven to be very reliable, but very hard to find in good condition.
P106-100 has been mining for 4 years. Buying these video cards now doesn't make much sense, unless you are offered a good price with a payback of 4-5 months
4030  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bear market mining on: July 28, 2021, 04:06:03 PM
I pity new miners that follows metroid kinda advice, they are mostly misleading, the best time to accumulate as a miner is bear market, don't become a crypto miner if your electricity fees are too high and don't stop mining in bear market even when your profits isn't much, remember you are simply getting more quantities of the coins you mining than what you getting in bull market, the only difference is USD value
You think that someone will follow this advice. I don't see the point in selling old video cards as long as they pay off every 6-8 months. If the profit is negative, I will leave only the most energy-efficient video cards to mine, and what to do with the rest I will decide after analyzing the situation on the mining and video cards market.
4031  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best w10 OS for mining on: July 28, 2021, 03:39:10 PM
Enterprise Windows probably makes it easier to disable updates, search, and other crap
that waste resources. Which gets to my point, it's not so much the OS but how its set up.
It's the bloat that hurts performance.

Dedicated mining OSs, like the one previously mentioned, are finely tuned without any excess bloat.
Tuning Windows for mining efficiency can be challenging.
Why did you recommend this enterprise LTSC OS? Are they better than Pro versions or you reason is just only about deactivation of windows 10 updates ? OS from 2019 are more stable for mining but I'm not sure how they will perform with Radeon Vega 56 cards for mining
Radeon Vega 56 is also not a new card and it can mine well on Windows 10.
But for these cards it is better to use Linux systems, like hive os, because they are more convenient.
The main difference between new versions of Windows is security and a lot of inconvenience for users. But for any video cards, I would use older versions of Windows
4032  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AC cooling in a farm is a bad idea on: July 28, 2021, 03:35:38 PM
This is for upcoming miners who wants to build a mining farm with 7-10 rigs in your farm do not use AC cooling, this idea is only good if you have two rigs in your home not a farm, it's a bad idea and it will cost you loads of more money, talking from experience
For every 2 kilowatts consumed by your mining farm, an air conditioner is needed, which will consume 0.8-1 kilowatts of electricity additionally. It is very expensive.
I only use this cooling method in the office during the hot season when I am at work.
In other cases, it is better to use ventilation.
4033  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How many riser version 009 are out there on: July 28, 2021, 03:19:57 PM
The color of the capacitors depends on the manufacturer, so you should pay great attention to this.
SATA raisers are best used for powerful video cards, but I use these raisers for video cards that consume no more than 120 watts: PX 470, 1060, 1660 and so on.
In other cases, it is better to use 4-pin raisers or 6-pin.

4035  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best w10 OS for mining on: July 27, 2021, 06:33:12 PM
What is the most stable windows 10 version for mining? I did some research online are People are pointing to version 1909 but I just want to hear other people's opinion on this forum instead
If you have the option not to use Windows 10, then do it. Better to use older versions of 2019. It's easy to turn off updates and spyware with tweaks there. The security of the software on the farm is not important to you.
I also recommend that you use Hive os and similar operating systems. It is much more convenient.
4036  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Low hashrate on 570s on: July 24, 2021, 10:31:21 PM
Ravencoin kawpow algorithm is too mean on graphic cards, you need to make sure your GPUs are running on a safe temperature 24/7 to avoid bricking your GPUs, I'd mine ravencoin only with AC cooling active
Unfortunately this will be the only coin available to mine for some GPUs out there in coming weeks, ravencoin is the most profitable after ETH for some Nvidia graphics card
https://whattomine.com/gpus
ravencoin is not very profitable on nvidia video cards. Red video cards win here
4037  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What should I mine on: July 24, 2021, 10:27:25 PM
Everyone keeps talking about ETH going full PoS by August but something tells me this ain't going to happen until mid 2022 but anyways I only care about making my ROI back no matter how long it takes so we have Ergo and Ravencoin
I also want the POS algorithm to start working in mid-2022 or later, but there will be problems with the difficulty bomb.
In December, it will start working, and in 3 months the miners will feel its work, and more commissions will be burned.
Therefore, most likely the developers will not postpone this event for a long time.
4038  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What's new for LHR GPUS on: July 24, 2021, 10:17:39 PM
Is there a new trick to unlock LHR graphic cards? There was a time when using a dummy hdmi works but that stopped working weeks ago I heard so any new trick around this low hashrate yet?
hdmi dummy still works on 470.05 nvidia driver, at least for my 3060s. there are some other requirements though (that are listed on other threads) needed for them to work.
If I'm not mistaken, this method works for version 1 of video cards. And for video cards that were sold after June this year, it is no longer there, because there is a different version of the video chip.
Therefore, before buying nvidia 3000 series video cards, you need to understand which video cards should not be purchased

4039  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How are you doing it? on: July 24, 2021, 10:11:16 PM
Those of you ordering graphic cards online and getting it shipped to you in a week or two how are you doing it? Lately I always received gpus from other countries in 3 to 4 weeks max, is there anyway to speed things up?
It depends on which country you are in. Average delivery time is 2 to 4 weeks, but some sellers have fast shipping for an additional $ 50-100.
You need to calculate which is more profitable and whether you can recoup additional costs using mining in 2 weeks.
Although, to be honest, I don't understand why ordering video cards in other countries, if there are already a lot of discount video cards sold in my country
Although if I were you, I would ask like this:
I am, for example, in Sudan. How can I get video cards in 2 weeks?
4040  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Are you planning to build mining rigs or farm? This is for you on: July 24, 2021, 10:06:20 PM
Have you noticed that almost all models of video cards are available in stores, which were very difficult to buy a few months ago?
Miners who have been mining coins for a long time are waiting for Ethereum to change the algorithm in order to cheaply buy new or inexpensive used video cards and upgrade their equipment.
Investing in mining now is likely to be a mistake
