As a relative newcomer to Bitcoin, I'd be interested in some of the history, and the personalities that Bitcoin created. Some of these members have pretty amazing sagas behind them, but really you should post your articles here. I myself am a bitcoin news writer and I would prefer people visit our website, but I usually post at least a bit of the story here when I do advertise my articles.
I hate it when people try to post an article in a discussion thread, and I'm having to put members who create those dreadful formatted pseudo-pages with oversized coloured sub-headings. I think the best method of presentation is a web page, and a posted link with a brief description or extract. There is nothing worse for a thread than a load of spambies quoting a full length formatted article repeatedly. I can understand concerns about links to external websites, and I've noticed that the mods are active in removing or blocking suspicious links. I've thought for some time that it would be worth creating a directory of members sites, and anything untoward could be reported to the community. Members like Vod have created some really useful sites, and I don't believe those sites will ever be used to scam or cheat Bitcoin Talk members.

I used to use Google voice input, but that sometimes gave some strange results.
I thought of getting a bluetotth keyboard, but I decided I was better off just tethering the netbook.

With low volumes, the market seems to be heavily manipulated, and I suspect the stats are manipulated as well. I'm keeping away from short term trading, and just looking for buying opportunities for a long term holding - maybe a couple of years,

At one point I wanted to get my merit, activity and posts all having the same count. I managed to do it with one of my alts, but I need an extra 4,000 merits to do it with this account.

He's become a legend. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Why do you have to include those stupid pictures? I couldn't be bothered to waste time trying to read them and construct a relationship.

Women do seem to get some interesting messages on these social media sites. Years ago I had a variety of alts on ICQ, and one of them was Tanya Hyde from the Virgin Isles.

McD blocks that archive site. I assume it's the whole site, and not just the image.

You need a netbook - It's got a touch screen and a keyboard.

But I very much doubt that the increase in the distribution of merit in the beginners sub will have a positive effect on reducing the amount of spam.
I agree with that, and some of your subsequent comments. However, there are two issues here. One is the reduction of spam, and this seems to be the main focus for everybody. Of course this needs to be controlled, but it may not be the major factor that will restrict the growth of the forum. I think the encouragement and development of new members is far more important, and I have noticed that a few of the spammers seem to have moved away from the darkside, and be joining the bright future for Bitcoin. If we can start some decent discussions, and make them self-moderated to chuck out the spammers and low value posters, then perhaps we can breathe a bit of life into a couple of the heavily polluted boards.

You need to read the rules, and to move this thread onto Meta.

I am, however, in favor of removing signatures from everything below Member rank, requiring 10 merits (or perhaps more) to display a signature.
I support this, and I've been suggesting it for several months.

I'd like to promote the beginners' board, political, serious discussion, and the Ivory Tower. I'd be happy to work with you to improve quality there by awarding merits. If you want to discuss it privately, then comment on Blab chat, I still visit that daily.

Enter your topic into the search box, and hit enter. That will list the topics, but some of them will be out of date. If this bothers you, then do a site search for the topic using Google, and limit the date range.
As has been mentioned, merit is not a particularly useful method of filtering posts, as it is so subjective.

He is brand new, so he has never made any posts. However, your post made me realise that I should have checked for the date of last activity, so thanks for that. Posts: 0 Activity: 0 Merit: 0 Position: Brand new Date Registered: 16 September 2012, 17:11:14 Last Active: 16 September 2012, 18:10:5 I think I will just reject the application with the usual email, and assume that it is a non-member who just likes the name. If I see that he has posted here, then that would probably be the time to pm a mod.

This morning I have found an application to join the Fit to Talk project, and it is from a "Brand new" member. So far so good, but this brand new member joined in 2012. How do you think I should handle this? Obviously there is probably no point in sending a pm here, unless the account has been hacked.
My inclination is to send him an email, and ask him to confirm the account ownership via a BT pm. If it is confirmed, should I alert the mods here in case it is a hacked account?

So why are you copying the top fifty users on one of my reports and then pasting it in Meta? ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) Obviously it is designed to make me realise that you are about to overtake me, and that I really must try harder. Congrats anyway, you are about to enter the top 10 most merited posters. [ps] Dammit Vod, you have overtaken me whilst I was having a coffee break. I knew coffee was bad for me. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

You guys are missing the point - a spell checker won't flag a word like "effect" or "insure", when really what you mean is "affect" or "ensure".

The latest situation with Greece is one reason why the Deep State wants to lock countries in their asset harvesting tool - the misnamed European Union. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdUV8o0p720&t=328sThey allow banks to indulge in reckless lending to increase the amount of debt, and when the banks state that they are close to failure because of this policy, the relevant government steps in to buy or guarantee the debt, and thus transfer liability onto the population of the country. The Eu then steps in and forces the country to sell it assets at a discount to Deep State organisation or associates. Iceland rejected this approach, and allowed banks to fail, and imprisoned the culpable bankers. Everyone said that it would destroy Iceland, but the reality is that Iceland has a much stronger economy as a result of its actions.

I'm not so keep on Grammarly. it seems to be very orientated towards American rather than English. I believe that a Google search is far more of an educational tool, as it provides information about the word in question, and thus expands your knowledge.
