4021  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Something very wrong with blockchain.info on: March 09, 2013, 10:53:53 PM
They upgraded their server last night... although it was a bit flaky until an hour ago.
I can log in fine now. Guess they need more power to handle the volume.
They weren't actually upgrading servers.  It was just their default "down" message.

yes....saw their twitter...database?Huh
4022  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XXXNEWCOIN TROJAN on: March 09, 2013, 10:53:04 PM
I'm surprised that no one has released an altcoin with malware in the binaries, but clean source on github.  I always build altcoins from source, and perform a quick audit of the commits on top of bitcoin to check if there is anything fishy.

we probably should have some sort of pure bin. file checker or something

4023  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Something very wrong with blockchain.info on: March 09, 2013, 04:03:38 PM
It adhoc accepts my password then does not

this is a copy and pasted pass word from a file

also cut and paste identifier

so no typing errors

wow!

what is happening

it seemed to occur more after i used google authenticator.

If the problem is not solved please PM me.

thanks

will do if it does not resolve

Is this still happening? You sure there are no extra spaces, new lines, etc?

Would be very worrying.

I did cut an paste from my password and the id, so there is no mistakes.

I have multiple backups of my password and ID

this is a test/watch account only I was not about to add Google authenticator to my real account [though I am not sure this is the problem] without testing first

but it was DEFINITIVELY FLAKY

sometimes logged in sometimes reported errors

that it was not the right password

I eventually got in and emailed the aes.json to myself

and tried to load that into multibit...it worked!!!! where the cut and paste change file name from rtf to aes.json would not!!!!

but now multi bit appears to want to down load from "genesis" block

dont get me wrong I really like Blockchain.info and think it is a great service...

but these last two days have been harrowing

4025  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BlockChain is Back down for any one??? on: March 09, 2013, 03:23:20 PM
The RAM in each server was upgraded today. I wasn't expecting any downtime but the rolling restarts did not go as planned.

would it (not) be a (good) idea to have a blockchain status, like moot does for 4chan?Huh

4027  Economy / Service Discussion / JSON FILE export from Block Chain and import to multibit on: March 09, 2013, 02:11:51 PM
OK so when I use blockchain an  I try and export the json file or the aes.json file

I have to cut and paste it to a Rtf file and change the file type

there is no down load button for json file and
the down load button that does apear for the aes.json file does not work

so i cut an paste into a rft and change file name

when  It try to import the json to multi bit it says error line 92 '/' expected

when I try to import the aes.json

it say pad error/password error

I think it the cut and paste going wrong

I have tried both firefox and safari and both do not allow down load of the files

EDIT UPDATE, i found the emailed aes.json file could be loaded into multibit, but it wants to now start from the genesis block because of 3 dates or something

help anyone!!!
4028  Bitcoin / Electrum / Electrum Questions on: March 09, 2013, 01:25:26 PM
[1] How and where do I rebuild my wallet from seed? I can not see this information readily, I see how can get the seed, but what to do with it

[2] if I have to use one of the servers and they all go down, can I still rebuild locally?

[3] Can I choose which address my coins come from/goes too?

[4] IS that weird send all coins and send back everything back except the spend how it works apparently this is what happens on Bit QT, but on block-chain wallet you can select where it goes!!!!

thanks
4029  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BlockChain is Back down for any one??? on: March 09, 2013, 12:58:06 PM
worked fine all day but now it seems to be down again yes ...  Angry

I am so glad the first thing I did was back up everything from block chain...just in case....when it was up for those few hours

seriously thinking of firing up bitcoin 1t, importing and sending all to a new address!!!!...

I am kinda a bit worried about their security if this is happening
4030  Economy / Service Discussion / BlockChain is Back down for any one??? on: March 09, 2013, 12:45:15 PM

>>>BlockChain problems again!!!!!<<<

very flicky!!!!

4031  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / question 2key blockchain on: March 09, 2013, 09:18:28 AM
If I use 2 key authenticator on blockchain

does this in anyway stop be importing my wallet to my local client

I think it does not and this borders on a stupid question

also if goole authenticator stops working for whatever reason...what then?

but I would rather be though of as stupid and have access to my bitcoins
4032  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / 2 terracoins recieved? why do they quote the BTC exchange in the terrcoin wallet on: March 09, 2013, 08:56:03 AM
2 terracoins recieved? why do they quote the BTC exchange in the terrcoin wallet
eg says I have 2 and then says they are worth 87$ BTC rate?Huh

all of my what???
4033  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XXXNEWCOIN TROJAN on: March 09, 2013, 08:51:54 AM
Or a fake wallet.

sourceforge.net/projects/bitboom/

I'm glad to see 0 downloads anyway.

wow yeah!!!!
4034  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XXXNEWCOIN TROJAN on: March 09, 2013, 08:45:38 AM
I keep thinking the same.  But I'm more worried a BTC client will have a backdoor.  Always use open source Grin

are there enough people checking the open source though, i mean bitcoin qt yeah

but what about multibit (think probably)

terracoin nope I doubt it

setting a mining right up is one thing, but being a good programmer is another

being a good C++/Java programmer with crypto background to really take the time to look at the code, very few people here.

hmmm.....terra coin website screams doggey to me.

(disclosure I purchased a few 100 TC on VIR)

so I am talking myself down here
4035  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / XXXNEWCOIN TROJAN on: March 09, 2013, 08:03:03 AM
At what point will someone relaase as "new coin" that is easily mined, but contains a trojan/virii of some sort that get you keys if not air gaped, or does something to your control of you computer....

eg...terracoins? has anyone even looked at he source code?Huh?

people just install this stuff hopign to get lots of coins early....

its going to happen at some point
4036  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Armoury Equiv for OSX, or LiveCD of osx... on: March 09, 2013, 07:27:42 AM
I just set up Armory on Mountain Lion following these instructions:
https://gist.github.com/WyseNynja/4200620

thanks

but I am a bit wary of Brew

I installed only my last MBP and after that it had all sorts of issues and died, and I had to buy another
4037  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Files to erase on: March 09, 2013, 07:25:11 AM
So essentially just the wallet.dat has to go

 Shocked Shocked Shocked

 Huh Huh Huh

What is it that you are trying to do?

The wallet.dat is a needed file.  It should be backed up.  The wallet.dat backup will only be useful when it was backed up when the client has shut down properly first before the backup operation occurs.

You generally don't want to be deleting anything.

I have made 20+ back ups of my wallet.dat, encrypted them in trucrypt containers made another 20 backup of that container, and emailed them to 5 different email accounts, and some other backup devices.
4038  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: unsolicited Satoshi Dice compromise proposal on: March 09, 2013, 06:30:36 AM
I would rather find a problem no that later!!!!!

Yeah. Thanks to SatoshiDICE, we found the problem. So now I think, wouldn't it be great if they could REFRAIN from the bad behaviors until the developers come up with a fix? Or perhaps, as SRoulette has made clear, they could find an alternative to the bad behavior?

No there continual showing us the problem forces a solution or fail now

if they were "nice" no one would care until it is too late that's the whole way the free market works, they keep sticking it in your face because it makes them a profit....they are doing us a favor by keeping the topic live
4039  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Proposal: general move to bitcent/mBTC on: March 09, 2013, 06:03:32 AM
Bitcoin sheme

Bitcoin
LittleBits (mBit) which will become know as Lbits
Verylittlebits (microbits) which will become known as VLbits

stupid scheme I know

but kinda catchs onto what people know

bit

personally I preffer m and micro (mu)

but meh
