Sometimes I love how Bitcoin community cuts its own neck.

People say "we need more transaction volume", and "we need more non speculative demand for BTC".

Then a newbie tries to use Bitcoin and gets told to Fuck Off.  I mean can you imagine if you had a question about your credit card and VISA told you to fuck off.

Meh.  Yeah the questions lacked details and made it tough to help but it is the newbie section.  I know it is a crazy idea but how about we encourage adoption?
No.

A newbie come pretending answers and help without even thinking about doing the homework and read some faq and guides where he would find a better answer than what we can give here on forum.

Adoption? It require people that want to adopt it, not people spamming the forum just cause they have a POST button

Please go on the bitcoin wiki and read how bitcoin work, how the client work and what else. Almost all your doubts are explained there

4046  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Are pools more efficient? on: November 01, 2011, 10:24:12 PM
I'm not super technically into how bitcoin works so maybe I am being dense here. But the way I see it, if there is a brute force problem that everyone is trying to solve. It will be faster if you don't waste time redoing the solutions you have already tried once. So if one computer is working on a brute force problem, they are just randomly trying solutions. But if a group of computers are working on a problem, do they somehow distribute solutions to check or tell each-other which solutions they have tried so nobody is wasting time? Is this how pools work? Do they get more out of their combined computing power than the sum of individual miners?
No.

As far as i know no one ever redo the solutions already tried by someone else. Pool mining or solo mining you always try different solutions so there is no overlap and wasted time.

Only advantage of pool mining is that maybe they receive faster new blocks/when they find a new block they immediately start crunching for the next one while in solo you would have to first download it...

They protest cause they are tired of a fail government that led the whole nation to that shitty situation. They keep paying and paying while the government just waste and waste and now THEY have to pay more to fix all the government fail. Of course they protest!
4048  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: usb drive vs hard drive less stales? on: November 01, 2011, 05:25:04 PM
What about doing a ramdisk? You do not use the hard disk AND you do not use the usb drive. Less energy wasted, less wear and tear on them and you use the fastest memory on your system
4049  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: If you're mining at around break even prices, STOP! on: November 01, 2011, 05:10:24 PM
I prefer efficiency.

There are a lot of projects where ATI (i still call it ati because yes) is better than nvidia, crunching on folding is a bit wasting energy. A nvidia is much better on it.

Also, i said that because a lot of people know Folding but how many people know Milkyway? Collatz? Moo! Wrapper? And that on them ATI is much better than nvidia?
4050  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: If you're mining at around break even prices, STOP! on: November 01, 2011, 03:03:36 PM
Yup but bitcoin mining=ati, so if you use mining hardware on folding, it's using ati on folding. A  bad idea  Cheesy
4051  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: If you're mining at around break even prices, STOP! on: November 01, 2011, 02:38:19 PM
Folding@home? Are you joking?

ATI sucks with folding@Home

If you want to go distributed computing and you have ATI then crunch for projects like Milkyway@Home, Collatz or Moo! Wrapper, they run much better on ATI.

Folding is for nvidia and cpu. Not for ati. It's like mining bitcoins with a nvidia.
4052  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 99%ers and bitcoin --- somewhat breaking news on: November 01, 2011, 02:32:41 PM
A wise choice.

Not too much so they don't risk too much due to bitcoin volatility

But still enough in case banks decide to freeze their accounts
4053  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: All these new BitCoin clones? Your opinions? on: November 01, 2011, 01:52:42 PM
I'll just sell them for bitcoins as long as someone will give me btc for them  Cheesy
4054  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: why mess around with alt coins, litecoin on: November 01, 2011, 01:47:40 PM
As I understand it, the point is that you can mine both Litecoins and Bitcoins in the same rig. Since Bitcoins are preferring the GPUs, you then have the CPUs available to mine Litecoins using scrypt.
You are right.

That's exactly what i am doing right now. GPU mining Bitcoin and CPU mining Litecoin.

Problem is, people mine litecoin only if they are worth something, but the fact that we can mine them on cpu won't make them automatically worth something.
4055  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: All these new BitCoin clones? Your opinions? on: November 01, 2011, 01:45:12 PM
My opinion?

CPU coins are useful to let the cpu mine something i can sell for bitcoins.  Undecided But nothing more. Also if their value drop to 0, they won't even be useful to buy bitcoins...

I've got evidence drinking milk gave me allergies. Maby of the world's chemists and doctors disagree with many of the dairy industry whores.

The milk you are talking about is probably mass-produced, pasturized, full of chemicals and hormones, like rBGH/BHG, puss/blood from utter infections caused by innoculations of those chemicals and hormones, and antibiotics from corrective measures taken against said infections, unless you are specifically talking about whole, natural, raw milk.

This is about whole, natural, raw milk.

Some scientists, usually of the high profile variety that takes money from those with an agenda, will do/say what someone pays them to do/say, or whatever gives them attention. All you have to do is look at past controversies like depletion of the Ozone layer hoax, probably  before you were born so you may not remember it, man-made global warming hoax, aliens/ufos, the roots of the enviromental movement, and now the big one is wildlife, nature and biodiversity coming out of the globalist agenda.

From birth we are meant to drink mothers milk, admittedly not milk form cows, however milk does contain needed nutrients. We have choices in what we eat and drink to get those nutrients. Some prefer milk, raw milk untainted by multi-national franken-food producers/scientists like Cargil, Monstanto, or Archer-Daniels Midland.

I dont really like milk, except for chocolate milk once in a while.

Exchanges shut down regularly and often without any warning or explanation.  They are also hacked multiple times.

Mybitcoin shut down and offered you guys 49% of your coins back and you treated it as a victory.
You are speaking about the real economy.

Banks and accounts get regularly hacked, estimates are about billions of $ each year hacked and stolen
Greek bond will be paid only 50% or so

See? Bitcoin is not different

4060  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Dangerous State of Bitcoin (.com) on: October 31, 2011, 09:39:24 PM
Troll thread, the correct website is only one, the fact that someone own bitcoin.com means nothing if it isn't the right site.
People should learn to check the website, the fact that it has bitcoin in the name means nothing.
