4041  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Fake Transactions on Blockchain.info on: February 17, 2017, 11:51:26 PM
Are they non-standard, or invalid (until if/when SegWit is activated)?

IIRC, amaclin had claimed to get BC.I to display a SegWit transaction that was "from" an address whose private key he did not control/have possession of.
They are non-standard because old nodes will still accept segwit transactions if they are included in a block.
4042  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 2 Unconfirmed transactions on: February 17, 2017, 10:46:10 PM
My transaction is alredy confirmed and done with

Now i wonder, since i did zapwallett and then made the last transaction I can no longer see the previous unconfirmed transactions.

Do I still need to zapwallet or should I not worry anymore?
You don't need to worry anymore. If your replacement transaction as confirmed, then the previous ones that it replaces are now invalid.
4043  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Fake Transactions on Blockchain.info on: February 17, 2017, 10:15:32 PM
The transaction is not fake, rather it is a segwit transaction. However, segwit transactions currently are considered non-standard so these transactions are being rejected so these transactions are not propagating well.
4044  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Which algorithms does the mixer sites use? on: February 17, 2017, 07:33:49 PM
If there is no specific mixing algorithm, it will not provide anonymity. For example, the MD5 encryption system performs a one-way hash. The hash value is not resolvable. But some sites compare with their database records. For example, the MD5 version of the term "bitcoin" is "cd5b1e4947e304476c788cd474fb579a". MD5 decrypter sites previously register the hash value of the "bitcoin" word into their system. Later, when the user searches for "cd5b1e4947e304476c788cd474fb579a" in the system, it finds the word "bitcoin".
First of all, MD5 is not an encryption algorithm or system, it is a hash algorithm. They are two very different things.

Secondly, there are no such Bitcoin objects that algorithms can perform on to do anything. That is simply not how Bitcoin works.

If there is no specific mixing algorithm in the mixer sites, it means that there is no anonymity. Because the whole address pool was created by the site in a normal way. The login address and the exit address are certain. The FBI can request and receive information about the address of the bitcoin on the site.
Yes, this is exactly what can happen, and exactly why you should only use mixers you trust. The mixer knows EXACTLY where the Bitcoin came from and EXACTLY where the Bitcoin is going to. They know everything, and if they are compromised, so is your anonymity. There is nothing that can be done to make a mixer that does not know the specifics of the mixing that they do. The point of the mixer is to prevent outside parties from knowing where your Bitcoin came from and is going, but the mixer will most certainly know those details.
4045  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: can anyone explain me this ? on: February 17, 2017, 01:52:19 PM
It means that your wallet is probably out of sync and doesn't know about some of your transactions so it calculates your balance incorrectly. What wallet software do you use?
4046  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Can others see my wallet name & description? on: February 16, 2017, 06:08:18 PM
No, any names, descriptions, labels, etc. are all stored locally in your wallet files. Only people who have access to those files can see those. None of that information is necessary for Bitcoin to operate, so it is never published anywhere for anyone to see.
4047  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Importing Master Private Key on: February 16, 2017, 01:54:05 PM
Bitcoin Core does not allow you to import master private keys. AFAIK, Mycelium does not allow you to export the individual private keys, so you will either need to use a tool to get those keys, or import the master private key into a wallet that does support importing that.
4048  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: reindexing blocks on disc on: February 15, 2017, 10:57:35 PM
Previously there was a lot less data to crunch through but the blockchain has grown significantly in the past couple of years.

You can use the -dbcache=<n> startup option to increase the speed. IIRC the default is 300 mb, but you can set it to much higher so the reindex will go much quicker if you allocate it more RAM with that option.
4049  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory 0.95.1 will not run bitcoind in the backround on: February 15, 2017, 02:00:42 PM
I see. Will I need to enter the command line manually every time I use armory or is there a way for it to save this change?
For now, is there a certain order to execute this command?
I'm not too familiar with using command line.
Can you please explain like to a five year old.
Right click the shortcut on your desktop that you use to start Armory. There is a box labeled "Target". Click into the box and move the cursor all the way to the right. Add the options there, making sure that there is a space between what is already in the box, what you add, and between each option that you add. Then Click OK and now when you double click the shortcut to start Armory, it will use the options you just added to the startup command in the Target box.

what happen?
What token did you use?
4051  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: is this mining of bitcoin? on: February 15, 2017, 01:53:29 PM
sorry but my English  is small week ,.as I am from India , .
Well here my main aim is to know that what is the scale of paying to those who are supporting the bitcoin network through running the blockchain 1.25gb data and giving help to make the confirmations very fast .
People who run full nodes are not compensated for running full nodes. Furthermore, they are not miners and do nor participate in making confirmations. You won't get anything for running a full node except that you don't have to trust anyone else on the network to provide you the correct data.
4052  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory stuck 0% 1 sec: Terminal scrolling error on: February 15, 2017, 02:16:02 AM
If I didn't, what do I do ?
Delete it.

... and if I did what do I do ?
Delete it again.
4053  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How does BIP0068 work? on: February 15, 2017, 01:45:26 AM
Were your transactions Version 2 transactions?
4054  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory 0.95 is out on: February 15, 2017, 01:02:35 AM
Running the newest release on Ubuntu/Trusty (don't mock, 0.93 worked fine).

Got "dbdir error - fortunately I backed up my old installation to another directory.

Wiped everything from the old install .armory directory - installed using software manager for amd64 deb linux package.

I see a new .armory hidden directory created.

Start Armory, loads quickly. I didn't have it set to start anything (bitcoind) on its own, so I closed it.

Re-started Armory with bitcoind running, and my watching-wallet in the .armory directory -- it sees it, does a wallet consistency check, says its all fine.

Then the dreaded DB error pops up and wants me to close Armory.

Bitcoin-qt 0.13.1 and Bitcoind work just fine, sync with no issues and I have the latest blockheight.

Is there somewhere else its looking for the Armory database? The only hidden folder I was aware of is in my user directory under .armory/databases -- and even when I wipe that out completely it still chokes with a DB error.

Just bummed because I was using a prior version with no problems.

Log files please.
4055  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How does Bitcoin block index work? on: February 14, 2017, 11:19:38 PM
I saw that the serialized transaction is just a lump of data with a key,
There is no key associated with a transaction.

so how does Bitcoin find transactions associated with a single private key? Does it need to travserse all unspent tx to get the total balance?
Yes. It goes through the UTXO set and finds which UTXOs can be spent by you.

I see. So both wallet.dat and chainstate store unspent transaction data, but only those in wallet.dat are spendable right?
Only those in the wallet.dat can be spent by you specifically. Nearly all the UTXOs can be spent by someone.
4056  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How does Bitcoin block index work? on: February 14, 2017, 10:57:59 PM
So, the whole block is read into the memory when Bitcoin accesses it?
I believe so.

How does Bitcoin lookup a transaction from a block file?
Bitcoin Core normally does not need to lookup transactions. It can only do that if you enable the transaction index (-txindex CLI option) in which case it does basically the same thing as for blocks, it makes the database and has each value point to the location in a file of where that transaction is located.

For transactions that are in your own wallet, it stores the transaction data in your wallet.dat file.

The databases also include other things like the current chainstate and the UTXO set.
4057  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory 0.95.1 will not run bitcoind in the backround on: February 14, 2017, 10:54:30 PM
Makes me wonder- how can we save the blockchain data on another drive?
Since we can't use the "run in the background" option anymore, how does armory know to look for that data?
Armory has various command line options to specify certain things. Basically anything in the settings has a command line option, and some more that also aren't in the settings. If you want to move Bitcoin Core's datadir to another drive, you need to set the --satoshi-datadir=<path> option where <path> is the path to Bitcoin Core's datadir. You can also specify a different location for Armory's datadir with --datadir=<path> where <path> is the path to wherever you want Armory's datadir.
4058  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Some questions on: February 14, 2017, 10:52:15 PM
Firstly, do not hijack someone else's thread with your own questions. I have moved your post into its own thread.

Dumb questions, please tolerate my ignorance:  Q: are the private keys stored in nodes hard drives/wallet files?
Not all nodes have wallets, and not all wallets are nodes. It doesn't matter where a wallet stores the private keys, it just needs to be able to access them somehow. Most desktop wallets store the private keys in wallet files locally on the hard drive.

Q: can someone use any data from blockchain or nodes wallet files somehow to use the data in key collision attempts?
This question doesn't make any sense.

Q: last one, what happens if I remove the ticks for all kinds of files and folders in the index configuration of my windows machine and run Core wallet as well? does that in any way effects the performance of my Core wallet as to creating any issues for proper syncing?
That indexing is for the file search service, nothing to do with operation of anything else on your computer.
4059  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How does Bitcoin block index work? on: February 14, 2017, 08:11:28 PM
The blk.dat file stores raw blocks, not just transactions. It only stores blocks and the transactions included within those blocks. AFAIK the index is an index of offsets for each block, basically where each block is located in which file and where in that file so that it can be read from the disk and processed if need be.
4060  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory 0.95.1 is out on: February 14, 2017, 08:09:05 PM
Supposer I would need a 32 version. Is there any solution, thanks?
Unfortunately we no longer support 32 bit OSes.
