4061  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Exchanges are becoming means people are losing cryptocurrencies on: April 02, 2021, 07:53:27 PM
There are quite a lot of ways users can lose funds in crypto, not just via exchanges, in my honest opinion I'd say ones own folly is the only way to actually lose your crypto funds, cause looking closely at every case of lost funds, you find out that the victim made one mistake or the other and without that flaw then that loss will not be possible, the loss always emanates from the victims themselves.

Of course having your private keys in your custody is pertinent, and the fault of people losing funds isn't with the exchanges cause that's their policy/how they operate (with a web wallet), it's up to the users to value their funds and not use them to store a significant amount of their cryptocurrency, failure to do so will sometimes cause losses through hacks and the rest, and even if the third party service will take part in the blame, it's your funds that's lost.
4062  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: April 01, 2021, 09:39:20 PM
Do not blame Jose morinho for Tottenham misfortune they've been shit for 50 years plus, we have seen mangers come and go in the last 6 years. They are close to winning a major trophy this season all thanks to Jose Mourinho for a team as small as Tottenham. The fans should stop expecting much from them, they are not up there yet, they need some funding to compete for any trophy, they should take Mancity as a case study, sacking coaches after coaches won't change anything if what you have are shitty players. Tottenham are on the same level with Westham and Everton right now. Mourinho did them a favour and not the other way round
Imo, no one can make a point that Spurs were great before Mourinho, but that's the very reason why he was signed, if they were having it all their way, then there'll be no need to sign him, thus it's his job to bring Spurs to the level of competing for trophies. And then again, you're absolutely not correct when you refer to the carabao cup as a major trophy, and Spurs' chances of even winning it is pretty slim as they face city, and even if Jose's men do win the carabao cup, it doesn't change the fact that they had a pretty bad season.

Having said that, Spurs have quality players, how many teams in the league can boast of having a striker like Harry, and then there's Son and the rest, they do not have quality players like City, but their players can be said to be on the same level with that of Leicester, but the difference between the two teams (Spurs and Leicester) is so evident, thus that's why people criticize Mou, he surely should have done better with Spurs.
4063  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Kraken founder Jesse Powell mentioned Polkadot as next ETH on: March 31, 2021, 09:28:32 PM
It could well not be about Polkadot being the next ethereum, it prolly could be somewhat of a method to hype the coin, I know Polkadot is already doing great on the network, and thus if it's mentioned more, it could even do better, for example, when Elon tweeted things about Bitcoin and Dogecoin it cause a hype and price appreciation for both coins, that could be the case for Polkadot.

Having said that, I don't think it's in Polkadot's best interest for them to be linked to being the next ethereum cause quite a lot of coins have also carried that tag, and haven't lived up to any positive expectations, Polkadot will be better of focusing on their own ecosystem and developing at their own pace, Eth already has a large community of investor, and with the non-stop improvement of their network like the introduction of eth 2.0, thus it'll be difficult for any other altcoin to usurp them.
4064  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does the high gas fee make the altcoin make less volatile from bounty hunters on: March 31, 2021, 08:54:56 PM
High gas fee isn't an advantage for the network, neither do I think altcoins are any less volatile cause of that, or even if they are at all; there are still quite a lot of projects dumping ASAP even with this gas fee, the thing is the bounty hunters have little or no believe in many of the coins they've been paid in, and tbh, it's quite understandable, they'll rather sell it, despite the gas fee, than allow the coin dump while they are still holding.
4065  Other / Meta / Re: Why do people beg on this forum? on: March 28, 2021, 01:51:26 PM
Life is pretty difficult for all, but imo, if you must beg, you should do so to people who can see and understand what condition you're in and requiring help, and more often than not, that's only possible IRL, it's improbable to talk about your problems online and expect someone to help you out, when such persons isn't sure you're saying the truth, doesn't know if you're a fraudster or can't see for themselves if you're well and truly in a tight situation.

More often than not, begging here or anywhere else online is a waste of time, if the world was somewhat of an utopia society, then such help could be possible, if one has problems, they should talk to a colleague, friend, family member or someone who can truly relate and appreciate the severity of their condition, and not on BTT forum, it's ludicrous to do so.
4066  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FIAT currencies on DEX on: March 28, 2021, 12:22:49 PM
Don't rely on exchanges not to sell us out, we all know how badly exchange are licking the government ass just to get want they want.
That's the more reason why the feature OP is postulating isn't even advisable, centralized exchanges even though it is user-friendly also has its own disadvantages on the basis of privacy (users must submit KYC documents), as users information can be handed over to the government at their request. Thhat act in itself counters decentralization, but it is what it is, and that's why they are called 'centralized' exchanges, controlled by a third party, thus users should not store their coins in web wallet of a centralized exchanges as "if it's not your keys, it's not your coins". Having said that, dex users wouldn't want dex exchanges to have any form of centralized feature which OP's suggestion would create.
4067  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: March 27, 2021, 11:26:29 PM
My favorite to win is still City.
Mine too, I just hope they do not fumble like they normally do in the CL, crashing out in the knock out phases to teams people least expected them to, another of such teams presents itself in Dortmund this season, it looks all set and done for city on papers in this game, but City have learnt to leave their guns at home in important UCL games against teams that came into the game as underdogs, so this fact gives Dortmund a little bit of hope.
4068  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [NOTICE] Large airdrop channel has been compromised with over 400k users on: March 27, 2021, 10:47:34 PM
One of the most common Telegram channels, Airdrop6, has been hacked for several days. They've had hold of the channel for days, and I've seen a series of odd posts that ask users to send ETH and receive double in 24 hours. It's PIN on the channel : AIRDROP6 WITH OVER 400,000 SUBSCRIBERS
First and foremost, people involved in crypto in one way or another by now should know most crypto giveaways are scams and there's no one that will basically just double your funds if you send half of it to them, so notwithstanding if the channel/handle is legitimate and has been hacked by scammers, 'do not trust, verify information that's too good to be true', and this sort of info falls under such.
Honestly, I find it hard to believe they got hacked. I am not very familar with telegram but I think it shouldn't be that hard or take that long to recover a lost/hacked account.
Telegram is scam infested, so it's very much possible that this channel wasn't hacked and the creators are the ones perpetrating this scam attempt, since they are a popular TG channel based on what OP said, then they ought to have acted quickly and either recovered their account or lock it for the meantime somehow.
4069  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What can I do to safely use bitcoin on: March 27, 2021, 10:06:17 PM
It's great to say the least that you recognize the risk concerns inherent in the Bitcoin network and also looking for ways to circumvent it, which unlike most people think, is pretty easy, always use a non-custodial wallet cause, "not your keys, not your coins"; what this expression means is that if your funds is stored in a wallet you do not own the seed phrase, then it's quite easy for you to lose your funds, mostly through the carelessness of the third party in charge, or due to hacks or data breaches.

Having said that, you're starting of with a pretty low amount ($50), which leads me to ask if you're already acquainted with the very important axiom of "invest only what you can afford to lose", if that amount is what you can afford to lose, then you're good to go, and you can always accumulate more as time goes on, finally you should know it's not advisable to tell people too much about you crypto funds.
4070  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: March 27, 2021, 09:05:19 PM
I'm not saying that Mourinho was a top long-term pick, I felt he was a decent short-term one but no matter who was in charge of Tottenham, I really don't think they'd be contending for trophies.
The thing is, if Spurs can't compete for trophies under the tutelage of Mourinho, after all the trophies he has won in his career, then how many coaches can then make them stand a chance to win a trophy, imo, I think Spurs signed Mou to compete for trophies and then again attract good quality players to the team on the basis of his high reputation as a manager, and he's currently not reaching the expected standards the club expects of him.

On another note, I don't think Spurs have too bad a squad, they have the quality of players to finish in the top four, remember how they started the season, in really fine fashion, but consistency was what was lacking and that's why they fell down from the top of the table. Even if Spurs want to spend big next season and allure better players, then they must finish in a top four spot or else it becomes all the more difficult.
4071  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What coin will be bought by new people? on: March 27, 2021, 06:44:50 PM
For a prediction, which one new people will buy more, we can only guess.
What is your opinion, which one will bring uns more profits? Altcoins or Bitcoin?
Newcomers in crypto are more often than not exposed to quick/fast profits in Altcoin, but majority of them forget that many of the altcoins in the network are pump and dump/shitcoins, thus it should not be which coins newcomers will buy more, but the coin that they ought to buy, and imo, Bitcoin is the better choice for a newcomer in cryptocurrencies, then as time goes on, one could buy maybe one or two other alts to add to their portfolio.

Having said that, my point exactly is that a newcomer should not immediately start looking for the coin(s) that'll bring the most profit, but should choose the most sustainable coin for the long term profits, Bitcoin is a hedge against fiat currency, it's users have freedom and control, with the influx of institutional investors, it's also heading to mainstream adoption; and in the long run will provide more profits than most altcoins that'll prolly fall short in the long term.
4072  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 26, 2021, 06:42:59 PM
...Barca will do everything in their power to keep Messi.
Imo, Barcelona ought to allow Messi leave the camp nou, if he decides to leave at the end of this season, it's pointless keeping hold of him any longer that he wants to remain in Barcelona, the both parties (Barca & Messi) have been immensely beneficial to each other, and for sure, the union must come to an end someday, Messi is already coming of age, and if he decides to wear another colors for the few remaining years of his career, then Barcelona should oblige him.
In addition to Rabiot, Ramsey is also expected to be sold by Juventus. With the capital, Juventus will probably try to bring Pogba back to Juve
Rabiot will be a great addition in Pep's midfield, this is Fernandinho's last season, so they need one more defensive midfielder to replace him and also compete with Rodrigo for next season, if City acquires his services, then it's a good deal for all the parties involved. On another note, Ramsey has struggled for form since moving to Turin from Arsenal, it's no surprise he could leave at the end of this season, but the question is which team is interested in his signature.
4073  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 26, 2021, 07:12:27 AM
Lukaku, the star striker of Inter who has already scored 25 goals in 34 games this season is being linked with a move to Barca and ManCity.
I never expected Lukaku to be linked to Barcelona and City, imo, the two teams don't play the kind of style that suits Lukaku, Barca and City concentrate on ball possession and they use strikers that are somewhat tactical, I'm not saying Lukaku isn't good, but he uses more of power, which may be unsuitable in a team like Manchester City. For example, Pep's City have played more than half of this season even without a striker, due to the pattern of play Guardiola operates with.

Lukaku is great for Inter, he could move to a different team and struggle, just like he did when he moved to Manchester United some years back, imo, he should remain in Inter for a couple more seasons as he's currently enjoying his football there.
4074  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: March 26, 2021, 06:53:29 AM
Remember that Porto didn't beat Juventus easily, it was a pretty tight match.
You obviously did not expect Porto to easily beat a team like Juventus, it was definitely going to be a hard fought victory which it was, and that's to Porto's credit for coming out on top, I'm not saying that automatically means they are going to beat Chelsea, but it gives them somewhat of a great motivation coming into this game against Chelsea, and to be sincere, they'll prefer this draw with Chelsea than if they had met either City, Bayern, PSG, Madrid or even Liverpool, so in one way or another, it's a fair draw for Porto, even though the odds are in Chelsea's favor.
Juventus looked helpless against Porto and couldn't show anything. Juventus needs to change tactics and focus on young and aggressive players if they want to win the Champions League.
I knew Pirlo's first season in charge would always be a difficult one, he didn't have any coaching experience coming into this job, and it'll definitely take him time, as well as cost Juve some trophies, until he finds his rhythm; Juve are going trophyless this season, I can't remember the last time this happened, they always end the season with the Italian league and most times the coppa Italia, with zero trophies at the end of this season, they definitely have to change quite a lot of things, and I hope pirlo isn't one of them.
4075  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where do I fit in on: March 26, 2021, 05:23:49 AM
Am considering investing in crypto...
As a newcomer, you'd be better of investing only in Bitcoin, and not crypto (from the general perspective) like you said (which is both Btc and altcoins), cause you'll more likely run into trouble investing in altcoins without having sufficient crypto knowledge or carrying out an adequate research as most of them are pump and dump/shitcoins.

Having said that, I'd also hope you're not under the influence of FOMO as a result of the BTC bull run, and that's why you want to invest? You should know there are still risk concerns with BTC, always "invest what you can afford to lose", don't tell people about you hodl Bitcoin, use only wallets that you have the private keys to, and don't join the network cause you want to "get rich quick", many new adopters are here for this and often end up losing their funds to scammers.
4076  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some of the unspoken problems associated with bitcoin use. on: March 25, 2021, 07:58:28 PM
Because of its digital nature by design, only those who possess a level of tech knowledge find btc useable, even amongst those with tech knowledge, there are some that are not ready to risk their fiat against something digital that they cannot see.
That is so not true. You don't have to be tech-savvy to use Bitcoin, all that newcomers need to understand is what it takes for them to be their own bank, and the aspect of the security protocols inherent in the network is most important, what I'm saying is that, so long as one can protect their Bitcoin, then you could even possess zero tech knowledge and still comfortably use Bitcoin.
(D). No accountability.
The people in charge that govern and control how things work in the network and Blockchain are still very anonymous to many and as a result, many find it difficult to trust the system.
Sometimes accountability and control can be counterproductive, cause the people in charge more often than not work only for their own benefit like is the case with our government, but that's not so with Bitcoin, the control is with the user, you have the freedom to use your funds as you deem fit, you do not have to trust anyone or any party, cause you're your own bank.
4077  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAmWATCH] NFL Jason Verrett Twitter Hacked; Promoting Elon Musk Scam Site on: March 25, 2021, 06:50:34 PM
I can't understand how easy it has become these days for scammers to hack verified accounts of prominent people on Twitter, to either promote one form of giveaway scam or the other. Elon Musk has cut a popular figure in the crypto world of late, endorsing Bitcoin and being quite vocal about a few other coins, thus it's only normal that his name be used by scammers, to create fake giveaway sites and threads.
Those of you who are so addicted to the words from your favourite celebrities sometimes I feel sorry for you. Grin
Words or tweets from celebrities could matter to you, except in things that have to do with your money/funds or investments, when it comes to those, "do not trust, but always verify", and imo, by now everyone should know Bitcoin giveaways do not exist.
4078  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Too many coin in circulation on: March 25, 2021, 06:27:49 PM
It is easy to get a token or run a blockchain on a well-known protocol, but it will be difficult for beginners to find their community.
The thing is, majority of the new projects are not so much interested in building a community of investors for their coin, cause they are more often then not either working on reincarnated use cases or are basically just pump and dump coins, thus I'd not even narrow the problem to them having a hard time finding their own community.

Ethereum as a good example is one altcoin with a very large and still growing community of investors, but it wasn't like that for them from their inception, it took quite a lot of work and development on their ecosystem to get to the stage they are atm, imo, new projects should take a lesson from them and other few successful altcoins to grow their own network.
4079  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Scammers always hunt for the greedy ones on: March 23, 2021, 07:24:37 PM
...I would suggest a campaign against scammers should be launched so as to sensitize crypto investors on what to expect and how to apply cautions to their investments
There have been many such similar suggestions to somewhat protect people, newcomers most especially, but a culmination of the whole matter is that it's impossible to protect everyone in the cryptocurrency ecosystem, no matter what is done or amount of effort made, people's follies will still give them away to scammers.

I suggest people to be well-grounded in the network before investing, by well-grounded, I mean learning security protocols and other whatnots that have to do with protecting their funds, if you choose to be your own bank, you're by extension your own security and no one else can do that job for you.

OP, you should put the link to the news for users who want to read more on it, here's a link to the information in the OP: https://www.givemesport.com/1663256-cristiano-ronaldo-becomes-first-footballer-rewarded-with-cryptocurrency-tokens
...this singler action have spark so many controversy over the internet as fans wonders if all other players will choose to get their payments in crypto.
What are your thoughts on this?
Tbh, I don't quite see any reason why this should spark any controversy or debate, the gesture to Ronaldo was a gift, an appreciation to mark his landmark achievement and not payment of his salary or wages, cryptocurrencies are well and truly more popular, Bitcoin at least, as people now believe more in the network, but AFAIK, I don't think footballers would fancy the idea of earning their salaries in cryptocurrencies (volatility being one reason), and it wasn't even Bitcoin that Ronaldo was given, but a mere fan token, even if they are ever to choose to be paid in crypto, it'll definitely be Bitcoin.
