4061  Economy / Economics / Re: Founders of South African Bitcoin exchange disappear after $3.6 billion 'hack' on: June 24, 2021, 08:24:09 PM
A 17-year old was allowed to run a multi-billion business? Is this even legal in South Africa? Here in India it is not legally possible. You need to be at least 18 years old to own a private business. And I am even more surprised with the carelessness from the users. They were keeping billions of USD worth of coins in an exchange which is run by a 17-year old? BTW why these two are missing? That makes me suspicious. What if this is an inside job? BTW, the promoters look much older in this photo. Difficult to believe that one of them is 17 years old.
I can easily say that there are way too many people in the world who do not check who is the owner. I mean yeah surely we all know CZ and Binance, but who is the owner of Coinbase? Who is the owner of Huobi? Who is the owner of Kucoin? Who is the owner of Poloniex? I can go on and list them all and have to say that I have no idea who the owners are, and I frankly do not care neither.

I can know if it is 17 years old or 70 years old and that is always the same, it is about the trust building and if a place builds a trust then they deserve my money. Look at binance, they had so many bad things happen, constant hacking attempts and many other things, and in the end they are doing fine. Which is why I believe it is really not a big deal that he was a kid, hell in a crypto type of business where most of us are on the younger side (people under 40 care for crypto, not people over 40) it is even a good sign. However they weren't trustworthy and that has nothing to do with age.
4062  Economy / Economics / Re: Antivirus Pioneer John McAfee Commits Suicide on: June 24, 2021, 07:14:02 PM
It was a long time coming. I do believe that it may or may not be a suicide but this guy had his demons, it is really not something I would be shocked to learn if it was definitely suicide. He also had others thorn up his place and look for stuff, he even had assassination attempts on his life so I wouldn't be shocked if it wasn't suicide as well, either seem like a possibility. At the end of the day dude is gone and it is really a shame that it ended this way.

I didn't like the guy and first time hear about him was on ICO period and I disliked him because he was promoting shitcoins for money, all of his possessions were taken so he used his name as an influencer and I get it, I would do the same if I was offered money when I had none.

However just because I can understand, doesn't mean I agree and he hurt many people in crypto community, yet that still doesn't mean he deserved an end like this.
4063  Economy / Economics / Re: Real Inflation only happens when Central Banks print High Denominated Notes? on: June 24, 2021, 05:24:38 PM
What we are missing out on this is that if you own an asset you are getting richer, whereas if you own fiat or working for fiat then you are getting poorer no matter how much you are making, because you are now poorer compared to your old self even if you are not technically poor. Stock market is not the solution, it's assets, if you own something that is not tied to fiat, and it is something valuable all of its own then you are going to be rich.

It is all the Robert Kiyasaki I have been watching talking right now but he is right, and crypto is not a bad solution neither, just like gold, and house or business or stuff like that which you can own. Getting a loan is a bad thing if you are doing it short term and have no income, buying a house to live in with loan is not easy for example, but getting a loan to earn more instead and getting a waaaay long term, like 25 year term loan that helps you profit? That is the way to become a rich person.
4064  Economy / Economics / Re: Xi Jinping Beats Crypto, Bitcoin Mine Closes on: June 23, 2021, 09:14:18 PM
I don't care what that winnie the pooh guy does, he is just not as powerful as people think. Actually people are more powerful than they realize and the only reason there are dictators in the world who can do whatever they want is the reason people give him that power. Can you imagine how many people there are in China?

Even the official number is close to 1.4 billion and the amount of soldiers they have is around 2 million, between police and all the hidden numbers let's say they have as much as 50 million, which they do not but let's assume that, do you really think that 50 million could stop 1.4 billion? Well, when it is about life or death they may not, but when it comes to crypto they easily ignore him and do whatever they want, in this case the worse that could happen is not death, at most a fine and they will pay that and move on that's it.
4065  Economy / Economics / Re: FBI aims to keep valuables, $86M cash confiscated in safe deposit store raid on: June 23, 2021, 08:42:55 PM
Another great example about how crypto is the way you should hold your money, and not in coinbase or anything like that neither where FBI could reach it, just put it in a safe wallet and just lock that down, that way even if you are caught they will not be able to take control of your money, think about it the comparison is that in fiat world your money is stolen by FBI even if you are not a criminal, and in crypto world you get to keep your money even if you are a criminal, that is a staggering difference. This is why I love crypto, I am not a criminal myself but I do like to keep my money away from everyone.

I do not have to worry about FBI anyway since I am not in USA and not even remotely close to rich enough to be cared (actually not even rich, unfortunately) but I still do not like it when government branches act whatever the way they want to do without worrying about consequences. This is the same FBI that did COINTELPRO and nobody cared, nothing happened.
4066  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: It's now the good time to buy some $MEME when SHIBA lsited on coinlist? on: June 23, 2021, 08:16:00 PM
This Shiba thing is getting people worked up a lot, I know that it is not really conventional and orthodox type of project but as long as you do not put too much of your money and risk anything that means you could do whatever you want.

First of all, please listen, I think it is a moronic, idiotic, joke of a coin that worths zero and should not have been created to begin with, and yet I still support people buying, you know why? Because I bought my own share of moronic, idiotic, joke coins that worth nothing at all before as well, I was caught in a hype when I first joined crypto and did silly stuff.

Anyone remember namecoin? That was the second biggest coin in the existence when I first started crypto, bought a bunch of it over 3-4 dollars and then when it crashed I thought it just ended and sold it under 20 cents, not like it us that much higher now, it is just over a dollar, but it is 668th coin and not 2nd neither. So do whatever you want, eventually you learn to do better anyway.
4067  Economy / Speculation / Re: how many more times should you fall for the same FUD before you learn? on: June 22, 2021, 09:08:43 PM
There are just way too many people who think that every fall will be the end of bitcoin and they are very wrong, this is why there are just way too many people who get out of crypto world the moment it drops and they claim that bitcoin is a scam all over the world.

The main problem begins with when they come, during the bull run they do not come in at the 10k mark, they do not even come at the 20k mark, most new people came in when things started to get super high, a lot of people came in after the 40k mark, it wasn't like a small number of people neither, the increase in buying of bitcoin after 40k is just insane. It means that there are now people who bought bitcoin for the first time ever after hearing about it for years, and then they lost their money in a month or two, that is just the way it is and the reason why they are scared and selling is that they bought at the wrong time.
4068  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is there a pattern when there is a dump like this? on: June 22, 2021, 08:47:10 PM
I understand that whenever a big dump happens people are very upset about what is going on but that doesn't mean that we should be focusing on just the drop and miss out on the future prospects. I like that people are smarter about crypto now, realize how to use stop loss, use their profits they made earlier with higher prices to endure this process and end up even buying at lower end, so "just wait, it will go up" is no longer a smart advice to many people because they all know that it will go up, they all know it is a great price to buy at here and even lower, they just want to get out higher and want to buy lower, which is understandable and if you used stop loss, it is easy too!

However to all the people who missed out on that, do not be worried because at the end of the day we are talking about something that is not unique, it always goes down and it always ends up breaking its own ATH eventually one day, it will do that again, waiting is not a bad option.
4069  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: June 22, 2021, 04:53:25 PM
Honestly Netherlands was already the better team in that group, I know it may have looked like they got a bit of lucky in there but the reality is that they were the best team in their group. It was them, Austria, Ukraine and north Macedonia, which is a weak group for many teams.

I do not think that they will be great on the next stages, let's wait and see what is going to happen but I believe Italy and France has the biggest chances, I know France got a tie but I believe that was just an unlucky game that's all, they are still the best team in the tournament. It is not going to be easy for any team to be fair but when you are beating everyone like Italy and showing a great roster, and if you are good like France on paper, it is really rarely that you end up getting a disappointing result in an elimination game, they play to win in those games and they usually do.
4070  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: June 21, 2021, 03:28:21 PM
Everyone said everything that can be said about the game, it was an insanely good game to watch, however I would like to point out that Durant was phenomenal this series, dude really deserves credit. I dislike him a lot because of the warriors move he did years ago, that was a very cheap move and he definitely deserved our hate, they won free rings basically thanks to him, and because of him Curry doesn't even own a single FMVP which he deserved a lot.

However even though I dislike him, I have to say dude carried the team all by himself, played full games without ever getting benched, played without his superstar buddies, basically he was the reason there was even a game seven.
Sure he may have missed the last shot but dude was the reason why they even had a last shot and that is why he should not be sad about this year, let's see how they will be next year, they will get some players on offseason who will want a chip, they will get dinwiddle back, and they will have all trio healthy again, barring another injury run they have a big shot to win it next season.
4071  Economy / Economics / Re: Money and happiness. on: June 19, 2021, 10:42:49 AM
"It is better to cry in a lamborghini" situation. I get it, I really do, money looks like the only thing that would make the world better for a person, if you have unlimited amount of money (which let's face it after a while it doesn't matter how much you own, if you own more than a billion, rest is just for show and not going to change your life at all, the difference between richest person and 100th richest person is nothing when it comes to living).

Long story short it IS better to be rich then not, and it does give you more happiness for sure, compared to not having it, but I say it is not the path to being happy as a community or a nation, it is just path for individual happiness. That is why I keep on pushing for finding better ways to get everyone happy, not just certain people, millions should not be working to keep few dozen people happy, we should all be happy together.
4072  Economy / Economics / Re: Aren't we the reason why BTC is becoming too much centralized? on: June 19, 2021, 08:58:26 AM
I agree with everything OP says. He is 100% right, but at the same time it is the reason why it is decentralized as well. If we all panic sell when Elon tweets that doesn't mean we are centralized, I understand that you think we are giving Elon a right to drop or increase the prices, but it is once again we the people who decide if we want to sell or not, Elon can't drop the price all by himself, that would be centralized, it is the people who make a decision and decided that they care about what he tweets, so it is still decentralized even while he has the power to up or down the prices with a tweet because We give him that power.

So instead of federal bank causing dollar to be worthless, it is Elon that decides on bitcoin and I know that sounds similar and make you think it is centralized but who does he get that power from? Us. Which is why it is still better than fiat.
4073  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which crypto and platform do you invest in in June??? on: June 19, 2021, 06:45:23 AM
I have invested a bit more in UNI, I believe that this newly drop in the ethereum price will cause the price of UNI to go up because uniswap will be used a lot more and that means in return we are going to end up seeing a lot more erc20 tokens as well and maybe one day the gas fee could go up again right? Well not if eip 1559 comes in handy, that should drop the gas fee a lot and even if there is a huge increase in demand at erc20 tokens that means the gas fee still be low.

That is why I really do believe that we are going to see eth and uni to go up, I already invested in eth as much as I can and I do not want to be overly leveraged there, so instead I invested into the only coin that would benefit from eth being higher and more used, which is uni token of uniswap. That is of course something indirect so it may take a bit more time, we have to wait and see.
4074  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will we ever see $10k per BTC? on: June 18, 2021, 05:54:42 PM
I hope not. I mean I do love it when the price goes down but by the looks of it if we keep going down then there are too many doomsday people who think we are crashing. Right now we have way too many newbies in the crypto world and we need them to mature first. Let them be here for another year, and by 2022 if it drops to 10k then I am fine with it, but that would at least make them realize that bitcoin is not something that always goes down or a "ponzi" because too many people are talking about it.

I personally would love to see some sort of middle phase where we do not go up but do not go down and just handle it the way we are right now without any problem at all. I get that it is not that easy right now, but it should be not that difficult neither, we should be able to just handle it as we can without a problem if we can hang tight and not sell too much.
4075  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will China's crackdown on Bitcoin cause Bitcoin to become worthless? on: June 18, 2021, 04:19:44 PM
China can not crack Bitcoin down and the real things behind mining ban news are only small part of mining farms in China will be stop their operations. They will have to change to other locations if the news is real but is the ban real.

China can change flip their bans anytime. Bitcoin will not be worthless because of China.

But China could lose a lot of value for itself by fucking with BTC

So in the long term I would not worry about BTC getting crushed

It is more likely China's government will alter to some new style than China alters BTC
I feel like they are way too use to making something of their own that is exact copy. You have facebook? We will create our own and ban facebook. You have whatsapp? We will make a copy of it and ban whatsapp. But the moment they made tiktok and it was considered to be banned they created a whole deal like it is freedom that is being taken away when instead it was just a revenge, I would say it would be awesome if we banned every single native Chinese products, all those phones, companies, apps etc etc everything that china owns should be banned, hell ban tencent games while you are at it, and do not allow them to buy any non-Chinese companies as well.

This is not to piss them off, this is just to ask to be fairly treated, if you ban us then we ban you, if you allow us then we will allow you. Anyway I just wanted to say they are probably trying to ban bitcoin and make their own "bitcoin" as well but it certainly will not work for sure because it is not an app.
4076  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: When will SHIBA INU going to reach $1? on: June 18, 2021, 03:15:21 PM
I hope that never happens, I mean by calculation that is like saying when will I be richer than top 10 richest people alive all combined, which we all know will not happen (unfortunately for me Cheesy). Why? Because mathematically that would make it the biggest asset in the world by a hundred fold, which we all know it can never happen, even if it goes above bitcoin, hell even if it goes 10x more than bitcoin it still wouldn't be 1 dollars, think about that.

Long story short we should focus on no more shiba to ever be created, not in tech because I can create one in 10 seconds if you want, that is not hard and it is a horrible tech behind it, but the idea of some memecoin getting billions of dollars should not be around anymore, I hope we never see this type of period ever again where people just abuse the meme "lol so funny" thing ever again because that is stealing money from the real market.
4077  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Large exchanges contacting and offering us to list altcoin? on: June 18, 2021, 12:40:41 PM
Large exchanges contact everyone, it is just money that they care about, plus they put in some volume requirement after a while as well and they just delist you because you are not traded a lot. Our project got like 12 so far, it is like 0.1 to 10 btc and why would you not list any project for that much money.

If they are asking money from you then you are not good at all, not good enough at least, and you should not be there neither, if you need to pay to get in then you should not be in. When should you be listed? When it is so big that they will list you for free without asking you, not like they need your permission in that case, they will list you in places you do not even know about, and that is when you know you made it, that is when it will be a great project. At the end of the day there is nothing wrong with paying for marketing but listing is not marketing, they are overpriced features that's all.
4078  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: another bullrun before 2021 ends on: June 18, 2021, 10:14:40 AM
The market will not always be bearish nor bullish. There will always be a time for both of them. And yes, i'm also expecting a bull run at the last quarter of this year. The value of bitcoin might even surpass our $80k expectation and might settle at $100-$120k.

So let's start being positive with the current market condition as everything will change gradually. Today might be a good opportunity to buy more potential coins and add them on our portfolio. Bitcoin can be much profitable if we start holding it for a year or two and it takes long stretch of patience to do that.
At the end of the day bitcoin is an anti-inflation thing, obviously there will be moments when it is going down but in the end it will always end up higher and higher, that is just not going to stop, as long as dollar keeps becoming less and less valuable, that means bitcoin will keep going up more and more, think of it like gold but it hasn't reached the maturity levels just yet. Maybe after we reach a million dollars then it will not go up that much, it still will go up but not that quickly and not that much, it will be slow by slow like gold does right now.

I can't see bitcoin staying at these prices for very long, if anyone buys right now I am definitely sure that they will make a profit in few years, will it be a good enough profit for you? I do not know, for me it is almost always good enough and that is why I am quite happy to buy bitcoin now.
4079  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: This time when bear market comes on: June 18, 2021, 06:38:24 AM
Everyone is afraid of bear market but they do not realize that it is the real time that you should be happy. All those people who said "I wish I bought it when it was cheaper" during the bull run should realize that this is the time that it became cheap, you should not be looking at it like it is going down, you should be looking at it like it is getting cheaper, buy right now as much as you can afford (do not risk yourself and buy with money you can't afford to lose) and in few years you will be very happy about buying at these prices.

I am pretty sure that we will reach to 100k+ prices, that means there is still chance of 4x profit on bitcoin alone, and in other coins I can see 10x increases and even more in some of them. So right now, if it is bear market then it means it is time for everyone to buy, if it falls more then you can buy even more.
4080  Economy / Economics / Re: USD Inflation over the last century. Bitcoin can protect you even in the US. on: June 17, 2021, 08:09:30 PM
Let's hope that people can realize that inflation is just something rich people basically created in order to get richer and nothing else. Minimum wage is basically under inflation rate (not always official, but unofficial real inflation numbers) in almost every single nation, why? If you increase the minimum wage as much as the real inflation then the rich folks at the corporations would have to make less profit, look at big companies and you will see that they are making more and more profit each year, they rarely ever declare less profit but when you look at the minimum wage it is almost always less than what they profited, so then they say it is inflation when things get more expensive when in reality things get more expensive because they want to make more profit.

Coca cola could increase EVERY SINGLE WORKERs wage 50% and keep the can of coke price the same and they would still profit, that is just one example, it is like that for almost every company.
