4061  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: APOLLO CURRENCY IS A SCAM YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! on: January 04, 2021, 02:31:53 AM
OP, I didn't read this entire thread in close detail but I get the gist of it and I applaud you on providing all of this information.  The thread is old, yet I don't remember it and this is the first time I'm reading it--and it sounds like this guy/team was the stereotypical ICO scammer who's now moved on to other disreputable methods of fleecing idiots and ignoramuses for their money.  And even just those who put too much trust in people, and that's the worst type of victim.

Jeweled pet collars?  Jesus.
4062  Economy / Reputation / Re: Scammer on DT network. on: January 03, 2021, 07:12:01 PM
I don't know much about that deep onion thing and I don't expect you to give a detailed explanation, but can you give me (and those who also may not be familiar with it) a TL;DR as to why it was apparently a scam project?  Or maybe just a link?

Eddie13 is well within his rights to leave that feedback, but without knowing whether dragonvslinux actually engaged in some scammy behavior I can't say whether it's justified or not.  This is one of the reasons why I hate counter-positives.

Edit:  Also, a positive feedback won't put someone onto any level of DT.  That takes a trust inclusion to make that happen.
4063  Economy / Reputation / Re: Why are you guys tagging Lauda's account? on: January 03, 2021, 06:41:18 PM
And what we are trying to say is that those trusts look, but are not negative.  They are simply pointing out the account is dead.

Our feedback lets newbies know they should not trust the account should it reawaken, but they can still trust the feedback the account left.
Ding ding!  OP, that's the best and most concise answer to your question and if I'm not mistaken Lauda either asked for the negs or anticipated them at least.  And, as been pointed out, negative trust isn't like excluding Lauda from your trust list.  Many of Lauda's feedbacks are accurate and should still stand, so there's no need for any DT members to now exclude him from their trust lists.  Giving a warning negative doesn't affect any of that.
4064  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: [LIST] ✔️ A Curated List of Web Wallets (work-in-progress) on: January 03, 2021, 06:12:54 PM
I hate web wallets in the extreme, but that's just me.  Good effort so far on this list.

You (or someone else who's knowledgeable about web-based wallets) might want to expound upon the reasons why they're not a generally-preferred method of storing crypto, principally the security issue.  Newcomers to bitcoin might not know the difference between wallet types--I know I sure as hell didn't when I first got into it.  I had used the blockchain.net wallet for a while before figuring out that software wallets were much better.

Either way, props on this type of thread, as I don't think I've seen a compilation of web wallets before.
4065  Other / Off-topic / Re: I Think This is Good Luck. on: January 03, 2021, 05:56:44 PM
OP was tagged for plagiarism, so I guess that's what this is all about.  Hopefully lovesmayfamilis reported whatever plagiarism he thought he found, and if the mods didn't agree with the report then I guess OP is indeed lucky (or completely innocent).

I have to say, however, that threads like these can often backfire on their creators.  Why?  Because you're calling attention to yourself, and I betcha that'll lead to some snoopers peeping into your post history for plagiarism and whatever else they can find.

But good luck, bro.  I'd lock this thread right now and keep a low profile if I were you.
4066  Economy / Reputation / Re: To all DT1 members | Interesting negative feedback from JollyGood! on: January 03, 2021, 03:41:56 PM
Maybe a neutral tag at most would have sufficed in many cases to keep within the rules and I will probably start focusing on that.
A neutral one would definitely be more appropriate, especially if you're tagging members for your own future reference and if a negative trust would be too extreme.  That's pretty much what neutrals are meant for, even though you'll still get some members complaining to you if you leave a negative comment as a neutral.

The bottom line, as I'm sure you're aware, is that you have to be very conservative when leaving DT positives and use good judgement when leaving negatives.  The negative trust you leave should reflect the fact that the tagged member might not be trustworthy, not that they're a spammer or a nuisance or something like that.
4067  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Livecoin.net Exchange Hack (or Scam) ? on: January 03, 2021, 12:40:57 AM
is there any news about this livecoin news?
You're pretty much looking at all the news right here in this thread (AFAIK), because Livecoin doesn't seem to have sent out any communications to their customers or anyone else--and if I'm mistaken about that, someone please post it here.

Sorry for your loss, but I'll say it again: this is why you shouldn't leave coins on an exchange for extended periods of time, especially shady ones like Livecoin, and their shadiness was well known before this so-called hack.  You might want to read a couple pages back where the reasons why this probably isn't a hack have been discussed.  I'm convinced that it's an exit scam, but only time will tell.

Any exchange that come out with huge stolen fund should be thoroughly investigated
You're absolutely right, but does anyone know where Livecoin is located?  Probably not.
4068  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CureCoin 2.0 is live - Mandatory Update is available now - DEC 2018 on: January 02, 2021, 11:28:00 PM
I finally staked some Curecoin after waiting what seemed like forever, so at least for today I'm a happy man.  I don't use Twitter, but the site is up.  What's the difference between following and followers in the Curecoin team's stats?  It looks like they have quite a few followers in any case, though you never know if those are real or not.

And yeah, I'm also worried about Curecoin going bust--I don't own a ton of it, but it's one of those coins that I've sort of fallen in love with, and there have only been a handful of those in all the time I've been interested in crypto.  I'd really hate to see it become one of those 1-satoshi wonders that end up on Yobit being given away as freebies.

Dave, would it make sense to notify sites like Coinmarketcap and Coingecko that Curecoin is listed on Shorelinecrypto?
4069  Economy / Reputation / Re: To all DT1 members | Interesting negative feedback from JollyGood! on: January 02, 2021, 10:59:52 PM
In the next few days I will probably start going through most of the negative trust I left and will either remove them or revise them to neutral in order to try keeping it limited to how the feedback system should be correctly applied (as per this excellent guide by LoyceV: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5191802.0)
Fair enough, and I'll re-evaluate my exclusion when you're through.  I have no hard feelings toward you, and I think you're trying to do the right thing but have left too many bad feedbacks.

And hey, I've had to revise tons of feedback myself--especially right after the merit system was implemented.  I was intentionally misusing the trust system in order to fight shitposters because there was no better method to do so at the time.  I never felt good about it, but the spam situation in 2018 was out of control.  I deleted probably a few hundred feedbacks I'd left.
4070  Economy / Reputation / Re: DT1 and DT2 members who have negative feedback (or are banned) on: January 02, 2021, 08:44:51 PM
serje - loan default
Waldohoover - scammer (account is inactive since 2015.)
rosezionjohn - flagged bounty cheater with interesting feedback from PrimeNumber7 regarding bitcoin doubler scams, definitely not someone who should be DT member.
Nice catches, marlboroza.  I've excluded all of those members from my trust list.

Oh, how DT ain't what it used to be!
4071  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Secure Element in Hardware Wallets on: January 02, 2021, 08:34:04 PM
They don't want to ever change this, and that is why my open source wallets of choice would be ColdCard mk3, BitBox02 and CoboVault and not in that specific order.
I appreciate that recommendation and I found the OP here very informative, because I'm functionally computer illiterate (more or less).  I love the Ledger devices, but that closed source code aspect does give me some doubts, though small ones.

Never heard of the above wallets, although ColdCard does ring a bell somewhere in my noggin.  I'll have to check them out.

Hardware wallets are expensive, the secure element is useful. If you want a cheaper but not as sophisticated alternative, use a RaspBerry Pi offline.
A Raspberry Pi?  Is that not just the same as storing your private key on a micro SD card?
4072  Economy / Reputation / Re: To all DT1 members | Interesting negative feedback from JollyGood! on: January 02, 2021, 08:06:07 PM
I don't think it's appropriate to post negative trust for supporting someone you don't like, or as a diary entry saying "I put this person on ignore", which is something JollyGood tends to do.
As I said, I don't think that's right either.  Where is JollyGood, anyway?  He should probably be PM'ed by OP if that hasn't happened already.  And frankly, this isn't the first time I've disagreed with some of his feedbacks either.  I don't know if I have him excluded from my trust list or not, but I'm going to check.

As I do not deserve negative feedback, I want to get rid of this problem somehow;
OK, I get it.  I'd probably feel the same way if I were in your shoes, with this bright red mark on your profile that shouldn't have been left for you.  I'm not accusing you of doing anything suspicious.
4073  Economy / Reputation / Re: Goodbye, world! on: January 02, 2021, 07:30:09 PM
Lauda will never return; there is no need to worship.
You seem so sure about that; I am not.  Lauda seemed to have so much personally invested in this forum that I find it hard to believe he won't return, even if it's with an alt account.

And yeah, I could be completely wrong.  Perhaps Lauda knew when to give up and that the community (including quite a few DT members) had turned against him, and that it was a pointless battle to fight.  But man, when Lauda used to take long breaks from the forum, it would get very boring--kind of like TMAN and his absences.  Wonder where he went off to?
4074  Economy / Reputation / Re: To all DT1 members | Interesting negative feedback from JollyGood! on: January 02, 2021, 06:11:47 PM
I don't even know if I'm on DT1 anymore, but personally there's nothing for me to reconsider since I'm not directly involved in this drama.

The feedback left by JollyGood was inappropriate IMO, but I'm not going to leave a counter-positive for OP because of that.  For one thing, I am not a fan of counter-positives and second I leave positive trust only very rarely.  What would happen, for instance, if I left a positive for OP and JollyGood removed his negative, and I wasn't aware of it (or became incapacitated or something like that)?  OP would have a net green trust for no good reason, and that's not kosher in my eyes.

This is a problem between OP and JollyGood, and it's not a new one at that.  I'm curious as to why it's now becoming an issue again with OP.
4075  Other / Meta / Re: What Are these spammers trying to do? on: January 02, 2021, 05:57:43 PM
I did.
but they never end.
It'll end eventually.  You've been on the forum long enough to know that it gets attacked by spammers like this from time to time, and the motivation is almost invariably the same:  quick promotion of something on a site that allows posts and has high traffic.  That's why bitcointalk is targeted so often, I think.

I've been reporting some of these posts, but sometimes they're nuked before I can even hit the report button.  The community is doing a hell of a job fighting these morons.
4076  Economy / Economics / Re: The supply issue on: January 01, 2021, 08:58:21 PM
This has been a pretty hot topic on Twitter quite recently
<snip>
I mean holy crap that Frances Coppola woman on Twitter is totally bollocks.
Another reason I don't use Twitter--the idiots and overall idiocy that seems to abound there.  Not sure what the Coppola woman thing is all about, but now I'm curious.

And no, it doesn't matter if you can split a satoshi.  Another analogy would be like splitting an atom.  The total weight of the atom does not change, no matter how many subatomic particles it's split into (and dammit if I'm wrong, let some physicist correct me but I think you get the idea).

But actually what this sounds like is that a lot of otherwise bitcoin-ignorant people are starting to think about bitcoin, and I don't see that as a bad thing necessarily.
4077  Economy / Exchanges / Re: LiveCoin.net >Buy/Sell/Exchange>New pairs:BVK/BTC,APOD/BTC,KTETH/BTC on: January 01, 2021, 07:33:50 PM
Nonsense I made much more than 0.2 BTC by leaving my stuff on the exchanges. Just today I caught the Fun pump. Sold 100k fun coins and an hour later the 400% gain was gone. Just diversify a bit so you can afford the hacks..

Livecoin was by far my smallest account. But would still like the money back
You just lost 0.2BTC because you left coins on an exchange that's apparently in the process of pulling an exit scam.  Regardless of the luck you've had, are you seriously arguing that it's safe to keep coins on exchanges?  You're absolute proof that it isn't.
4078  Economy / Economics / Re: We dont see and dont feel hyperinflation only for one reason on: January 01, 2021, 07:09:06 PM
Thanks to covid we dont have to bring 100k+ to shop to buy  some milk and other food .
People aren't starving to death because of COVID-19, and though a lot of people are out of work and many are staying at home rather than venturing out to the grocery store, they're still buying stuff like crazy online.  Why do you think Amazon's stock is through the roof right now?

So I don't think that's why we're not seeing any hyperinflation (and I'm talking just about the United States here) when by all rights we should be.  With all this money that's being printed and all the unemployment benefits and the stimulus checks, it baffles me why prices for basic goods and services haven't shot to the moon.  Nor have I heard a good explanation for it thus far--but my gut is telling me that it's coming.  If not hyperinflation then at least high inflation.  It's like people are putting all of their money into the stock market and bitcoin, because those two asset classes actually have been pumped up to insane levels in the past year.

Lets do test ? Lets open economy full ... youll see how fast the milk price will go to moon
I don't know where you're from, but in the US all the stores are open and milk is for sale to everyone who wants to buy it.  I don't know if the price of milk has gone up or not, but I'm not so sure that it'll spike when all the lockdowns across the world are lifted.  You might be correct, but we'll see.
4079  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [EXCHANGE] ShorelineCrypto - ZERO Withdraw fee, Listing Fee 0.005-0.01 BTC on: January 01, 2021, 05:32:29 PM
Howdy honglu69, I just wanted to say that I've used shorelinecrypto a couple of times for Curecoin, and I'm happy you listed it for DaveF.  Looks like the volume right now leaves a lot to be desired, but hopefully that will change.  Dave is trying to get the word out, as am I, so we'll see.

Question: what are the criteria for delisting a coin?  Is it solely a volume issue or are there any other factors that go into your decision to delist something?  I'm curious as to why New England Coin was dropped, for instance (though I can't say I'm surprised, as I'd never even heard of it before visiting your site).

I'd also like to vouch for the fact that I've done several small trades and subsequent withdrawals and have had no issues thus far.  I know people are very reluctant to give small exchanges a try--and for very good reason--but my experience so far has been positive.
4080  Economy / Exchanges / Re: LiveCoin.net >Buy/Sell/Exchange>New pairs:BVK/BTC,APOD/BTC,KTETH/BTC on: January 01, 2021, 05:21:23 PM
If the database is corrupted they can just ask us what we had there.. I had 0.2btc and would be happy to get it back.
That's what I've said a couple of times in my argument that this is a scam instead of a hack.  The fact that they're not attempting to contact their customers to make them whole is evidence of that--in addition to the fact that nothing about this supposed hack makes much sense, as pointed out by suchmoon and a couple other members.

This is the reason why you should never keep funds on an exchange, and if you didn't know that before, let this be an expensive 0.2BTC lesson that you learn.  I seriously doubt that anybody who had coins on Livecoin is going to get anything back, though I'm hoping for the best.

So basically, the "hacker(s)" blackmail Livecoin owners to deposit an amount into this address? And from where is this message? Can you please explain a bit? Undecided
I don't think anybody knows any more than what Livecoin has announced, which is jack shit.  If they were at all concerned about their customers, they'd create an alt account here and start communicating.  Obviously they're not doing that, which is another reason why I think this is nothing more than an exit scam.
