4081  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where would you sell if you had bought 10 Bitcoin at $100? on: February 20, 2021, 08:41:15 AM
I didn't buy it back then, so ordinarily there's no way I'd know what I would have done in a situation that I never found myself, but if I'm to answer based on my personality, my appetite for risks and things I'd prolly have wanted to do with money IRL, I think I would have sold quite a long time ago whenever I considered my ROI good, the thing is I'm sure my sentiments would have gotten the better of me, the media calling it a bubble going to burst, plus other security concerns, all these and much more would have facilitated my hunger to leave the network and hold Fiat.

Having said that, I would have regretted that decision, but that must have been after I've worked on my knowledge of the network, right now, I believe in the network, but back then, I'm not sure I would have, I'd not sell my stash now, even if there's a massive plunge, that's the difference between the 'imaginary' then and now, Bitcoin has gone through quite a lot of stages to make people believe in it, the latest being the influx of institutional Investors, hodl now you have the chance to do so.
4082  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAmWATCH] Fake Elon Musk Medium 5000BTC Giveaway on: February 19, 2021, 11:58:37 PM
Elon Musk has tweeted about Bitcoin and Dogecoin recently, so it's clear for the public to see his interest in cryptocurrencies, and that's why scammers find it as a good modus operandi to set up their scam using Musk's name, plus Elon is also a billionaire, so naive individuals think it'll be possible for him to give out free money, I believe this are some of the reasons it's always one fake Elon Musk's giveaway every now and then, if people correct the misconception that BTC is a quick money scheme, then they will prolly not be victims to this.

Having said that, the Bull run has continued, with no trace of any 'spanner in the works' just yet, institutional Investors keep running in, and the price doesn't look like it's as of yet going to stop appreciating, this will definitely cause FOMO, people who didn't believe in the network when it was 'cheap', are now struggling to get it, they are most vulnerable to scams of any sort, that's why it's no longer surprising that there are certain victims of all this.
4083  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: February 19, 2021, 08:49:27 PM
He may likely get sacked if he fails to win the most prestigious trophy I think his major objective was to give them the champions league which I don't see that happening anytime soon from a realistic angle, they are running rot in the EPL but the European games are different,
It's somewhat even ridiculous to talk of pep being sacked, considering how the season is going for him and City, the UCL is important, but so also is the EPL, definitely City fans are hoping pep delivers the biggest European club trophy, but even if he fails to do so this season, and makes up for it with the EPL and prolly either the carabao or fa cup, or even both, then it was a good season for City and I don't think there can be any eyebrows raised or talks of him being fired.

Having said that, City and Bayern are the favorites imo, last season and previous UCL outings with Pep, City were undone by their defense, it was pretty poor, they conceded cheap goals, and it didn't matter how many goals they could score at the other end, this season is different, their defense is formidable and that should take City all the way to the CL title.

Up next for City in the league is Arsenal, Arteta faces his old team yet again, I can't see any chances for Arsenal in this game, City will win comfortably and head into the Mochengladbach game in high spirits.
4084  Other / Meta / Re: I am genuinely interested, need some advices. on: February 19, 2021, 05:23:43 PM
I am genuinely interest to setup a mining rig and I need information. How do I continue the following post and continue the conversation?
I don't think you should try to continue that conversation in that board, it's obvious the moderation policy in the mining section is somewhat stricter than other boards, for example, the B&H section, so imo, I think you can start new threads in B&H board inquiring on the aspect of mining you want to be clarified on, I've seen questions on mining been answered expertly by tech-savvy users who frequent the B&H section.

That way, your questions will be answered and your knowledge will develop, and thus you can then move over to the mining section and make posts that will not be considered off-topic, another good thing is, your thread could likely be moved from the B&H section to the mining board by a mod, which makes things much more easier for you.

It looks like Tottenham won't even think of selling Harry Kane if they get an offer valued under £150m. I wonder whether there will be a team that are willing pay at least this amount of money this summer.
It'll be in Harry's best interest to leave Spurs now he is still somewhat at his best and firing in goals right, left and center, I don't think Spurs are as yet capable of winning a major trophy, even after signing Jose, they still look some miles away from the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool. Kane wants to win trophies I'm sure, he thus needs to move to a team that are used to winning trophies, but having said that, it's always difficult for clubs to do business with Spurs, they are always keen to get the best deal for themselves alone, any club that would stand a chance to sign Kane will surely have to break the bank, and this could change their mind, hence leaving Harry with no choice than to stay at the White Hart Lane.
It looks like that Kylian Mbappe is only interested in going to Liverpool or Real Madrid if he decides to leave PSG. There are also some rumours that Real Madrid are already making some plans to be able to sign him. I wonder if Liverpool also will make a move after hearing that.
If the battle to sign Mbappe is only between Real and Liverpool, then I think Madrid will win at the end, they'll most likely bring the higher amount of money, and Mbappe seems to admire the club so much.
4086  Economy / Economics / Re: Use of cryptocurrencies, a concern – IMF on: February 18, 2021, 01:26:30 PM
Is it not proper for the government to have laws that will make exchanges be able to track crypto transactions rather than banning it.
The Government can already track crypto users with the aid of exchanges since they are centralized, and can answer to the request of the government to disclose the identity of a customer should any need arise for that, tbh, I don't think there should be any concern on the use of cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin is now being adopted by renowned institutional Investors/companies, prominent individuals and the rest, that's quite an indicator that Bitcoin is not a coin for money laundering or the likes of that, but a currency, investment, a hedge against fiat inflation/devaluation, and prolly the government are only concerned cause it gives it's users control, freedom from manipulation, makes them their own bank etc, something that'll never be possible with fiat.
Central banks that ban bitcoin only encouraging p2p.
Of course they are, the thing about P2p is that it's risky for newcomers, they will prolly find it easier/safer buying Bitcoin from exchange, than from an individual, cause as newcomers they would prolly not be abreast with security protocols, but other than than, P2p is great.
4087  Economy / Economics / Re: First publicly traded German company buys bitcoin on: February 17, 2021, 04:19:00 PM
We may see more companies that may be encouraged and invest 1% of their available cash as a hedge against increase in money supply in both the euro and USD zones
I'm positive more companies will, the thing is, traditional institutions are still struggling to regain normalcy as a result of the pandemic, and it's prolly going to take quite a lot of time, within which there will likely be inflation, devaluation and they'll have to print more money, having said that, Bitcoin on a bull run right now is totally unaffected by all that, it's only normal for individuals and now institutions to look for a hedge.

It's much better to convert your reserve assets to Bitcoin, avoiding devaluation via that process, and in another way, also be making profits as Bitcoin price appreciates, that's what this companies are doing atm, the big question now is if this Influx changes the cycle were Bitcoin experiences sporadic plunges after a bull run.
4088  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: February 17, 2021, 03:54:57 PM
PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino is really willing to sign his former goalkeeper at Tottenham, Hugo Lloris. If PSG manage to bring him, it is certain that he will be the main goalkeeper of the team. K. Navas is the main GK of PSG now (24 appearances - 15 conceded, 13 clean sheets).
Keylor Navas is a very good goalkeeper and has been impressive for PSG, I don't see any reason why Pochettino should replace him with Hugo Lloris, cause they are both of the same quality and age (34), I think if PSG are in search for a goalkeeper, then they should scout for a younger keeper that will likely be at the club for a very long time.
Also David Alaba confirms his Bayern Munich departure. There would be quite some big teams interested in him once his contract ends in summer.
Good news for the chasing pack for Alaba's signature, the problem now is going to be his wages, personally I'd love to see Alaba in the EPL, I don't think City are currently interested, but a link up with former manager Pep wouldn't be a bad idea.
4089  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: if the bear market starts next month on: February 17, 2021, 03:27:33 PM
If the price history cycle is to be replicated, then Ethereum is also bound to be affected by a plunge in the Bitcoin price, though I don't expect a significant plunge, just few corrections, but if there happens to be any, I still wouldn't consider any altcoin as a hedge to Bitcoin, I'd comfortably still hodl my btc, and wait to see how the price bounces back up.

Having said that, there is no use speculating on the bear market, for users who are short term Investors, they can always withdraw their ROI now that the market is on a positive run, and for long term investors, it doesn't matter if the bear market starts next month or whenever, they'll just wait out the cycle, till it's time for another ath.
4090  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Planning to buy a coin due to a celebrity's tweet? Stop. You're doing it wrong. on: February 17, 2021, 12:19:45 PM
The thing is, it's not only about Dogecoin, even if a celebrity or a rich individual tweets or talks about Bitcoin, one should not invest on the grounds of that, a prominent individual can always create hype around a coin and cause more people to garner interest on the coin for a particular time, or as long as the tweet or talk is still fresh or recent in the minds of such people, but when it no longer is, and thus the hype no longer present, if the coin isn't a good one, then it's flaws are exposed.

What I'm getting at is, a prominent individual can't 'talk or tweet' a coin into success, especially in the long run; if you believe in the network, then invest in the coin after doing your own research. Dogecoin prolly has it's own pros, but investing in it cause Elon said a thing or two is 'sinful'.
4091  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: February 17, 2021, 11:56:25 AM
There are still 15 match days and ManCity is just 7 points ahead. I wouldn't say the season is over. ManCity started the season weak and is now very stable. A small phase of weakness and ManUnited and even Chelsea can catch up and make the season exciting again.
City also have a game in hand, so there is a possibility of them extending that lead to 10 points, I wouldn't say a 10 point gap with 15 games to go is a small lead, City already have one hand on the title, and the thing is, they do not even look like stopping, between City and the other chasing pack, it's the rest of the teams that are even looking likely to drop more points.

I know we can't conclude things yet, but if I'm to be realistic, City are going to be champions and if United and the rest don't keep up with them, they could even win the league with few games to spare, Pep has fixed this team, especially their defense, a treble for them at the conclusion of the entire season wouldn't come as a surprise at all.
4092  Economy / Economics / Re: Are institutions hedging? on: February 17, 2021, 07:58:13 AM
It's possible for institutional Investors to manipulate the market, FYI, the BTC network has always been subjected to one form of manipulation or the other, but the thing is, it can't destroy the market, even after a manipulation, there'll definitely be a plunge, but with more time, the network will appreciate on a different factor.

So the thing is, this institutional Investors are still a plus to the network atm, I don't know if they are basically here just to make profits, but it matters less, if they pull their assets out of the network, it will of course affect the price, but it'll only be for the meantime and that's the good thing with Bitcoin, no institution has the wits to crumble it, thus I don't see any reason to fret.
4093  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Rank up: I'm officially a Full Member on: February 16, 2021, 09:24:18 PM
Seen the 2017's bull run and the subsequent fall. Decided to become active at the end of 2020 because I don't want to miss the next great run of bitcoin and of course share and learn more from bitcointalk.
Not a bad decision to make, Bitcoin is on quite a positive run atm, and there is a high chance that the fall that happened back in 2018 wouldn't repeat itself, there will of course be price corrections, but with the recent developments of quite a number of institutional Investors joining the network, a change in cycle could well be in motion.

Congratulations OP, for making it to full member and taking a decision to be active on the network and the forum, cheers mate.
4094  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ranking up is possible! 2900 Merits earned in less than 12 months! My 11 Hints! on: February 16, 2021, 08:56:33 PM
I won’t stop here guys, there’s no pride in merits, there is pride in knowledge circulation .
Congratulations fillippone on your 5000th merit, I think when you started this thread, it was at 2900 merits (correct me if I'm wrong), that's an added 2100 merits since then, it's a feat that could only have been achieved via "knowledge circulation" as you have rightly put it, don't stop circulating that knowledge through creating informative threads, that helps to keep us abreast with new developments about Bitcoin and it's adoption by institutional Investors.
4095  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk tweet causes Dogecoin holders to dump on: February 15, 2021, 05:27:46 PM
I hope elon musk realises that he is in a position where a simple tweet of him has big impacts on the life of some people.
That's the thing, people should not rely on Elon Musk's tweet to invest in a coin, you could trust his judgement to an extent, being the successful business man that he is, but simply copying him by investing in whatever coin he tweets about is a wrong way to invest. Elon Musk could also be manipulating the market to his favor, and being the billionaire that he is, he could very well easily do that.

I do not have any dogecoin, neither will I hold or dump any coin cause of someone's tweet, I hodl btc cause I believe in the Bitcoin network, and there's no sort of positive publicity that'll make me invest more than I can afford to lose, neither will there be any negative talk/tweet, that'll cause me to dump, that's how investors should be, invest in coins that you can trust their ecosystem.
4096  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: February 14, 2021, 04:21:46 PM
I think we can crown the champions of Premier League 20/21 with Machester City on top. I have no doubts that City will win this year as with the draw today between Brom and United, it's clearly that United have lost the chance to keep up the pace with City.
I knew it was always going to be a very difficult task for United to chase down City and compete for the title in a two horse race; imo, Liverpool is the only team that can deny City from winning the EPL title, just as they did last season, they (Liverpool & City) are the two best teams in the league atm, but with Liverpool clearly out of the title race this season, it's much easier for City and I believe they'll be champions of England at the end of the season.
I think Arsenal would be the one getting full points out of this one.
It's difficult to be certain of a win for Arsenal this days, especially when it's against a well organized side like Leeds, I would not be surprised if Leeds take 1 or all 3 points at the final whistle.
4097  Economy / Economics / Re: Confirmed NGN banks blocking account, what could be the outcome on the economy? on: February 14, 2021, 01:09:25 PM
The thing is that the Nigerian government has failed to provide resources or loans to small scale businesses, neither have they provided employment to their teeming youthful population, it looks somewhat like a misplaced priority just outrightly banning the use of crypto for no reason without addressing some of their pressing economic issues.

Having said that, Nigeria is also backward in technological advancement, neither do they have any plans in motion to launch something like a CBDC, what I'm saying is, it looks like the government is firing at the wrong target, as i really cannot understand what the Nigerian government stands to gain with this ban looking at how quickly crypto adoption is growing in their shores and could be another escape route for so many people to escape poverty, and by extension boister their economy.
4098  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will not reach $50,000 on: February 14, 2021, 11:48:24 AM
$50,000 could actually be small, compared to what the price of Bitcoin will prolly be at the end of this year (2021); tbh, I do not expect the sort of correction that'll feel like it's "bull run over", I expect Bitcoin to break the 50k mark sooner than later, it's up to 49k already, and 50k upwards should be expected in the coming few weeks.

Having said that, I'm pretty sure we all are curious to see how far this run can go, we've predicted/speculated that institutional Investment should make a difference, as we aren't expecting a sporadic and serious plunge. It's definitely going to be an amazing journey with Bitcoin from now till the end of the year, it's much better if your hodl.
4099  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don’t be lured by the promises of easy money! on: February 14, 2021, 11:26:35 AM
People trust, and then don't verify, whenever they are faced with promises of quick money, at that point in time, an obvious scam looks like a real and genuine opportunity to earn some money, but that's only cause of the avarice of the victim. As a Bitcoiner, one automatically becomes a target of this Petty scams, it's up to the enthusiasts/users to learn what the modus operandi of the scammers are, and to learn the security protocols to avoid falling a victim.

Having said that, it's 'sinful' to give someone access to any personal account of yourself for whatever reason or price, it's more like the scammer is hacking your account, but with your consent in this case, and in a scenario of wrongdoings, the only connection is you and not the scammer using the account.
4100  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: February 14, 2021, 10:52:38 AM
Man City is getting stronger, they seem to have no problem against every strong team in Premier League. Yesterday, they even could beat Tottenham without Aguero.
That's even what's most fascinating, winning this incredible number of games in a row without a 'real' striker in most of the games, pep Guardiola is the most ingenious manager in the game today, and he looks set to win his third premier league title in five years in England, that's an outstanding feat, not to mention they are in the carabao cup final, FA cup QF and UCL RO16, that's a possibility of a quadruple.
the big problem liverpool are too many injured player in this session either.
Injuries can no longer be used an an excuse anymore, I know Liverpool have a couple of injured players, but that's not a justification for their poor performances in recent weeks; injuries are part of the game, and every club has had their own fair share of injury problems, what matters is how the manager handles the team during such periods.
