4081  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrencies integrating them more strongly with the economy on: August 16, 2020, 06:19:13 AM
I'm not a supporter of Crypto debit cards. We don't need this. This is just another step that will eventually turn the crypto industry into a bank system, but with cryptocurrencies instead of fiat.
What if all banks and credit/debit card/payment processor companies adopt crypto payments?
You think that would be great, because the crypto prices would hit the moon.Yes,but the banks and financial services will remain the same centralized entities that have almost complete control over our money/coins.
I support mass crypto adoption,as long as the global financial system become decentralized and the people have full control over their money. If the financial system remains centralized, crypto adoption would be more or less pointless.
4082  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mike Novogratz and Dave Portnoy Say Buy Bitcoin and Not Gold on: August 16, 2020, 06:03:17 AM
Buying Bitcoin instead of Gold is kinda stupid.I would say buy both(and maybe add some real estate in your assets) Grin
Elon Musk will successfully mine gold on asteroids somewhere around 2100 and the production/mining cost of that gold would be astronomical, hence,he would sell that gold at a huge loss. Grin
Actually there's enough gold on the planet Earth, but the costs of mining that gold are extremely high,so mining won't be profitable.
We all know Mike Novogratz has always been very bullish about Bitcoin, but most of the time,he makes himself look silly, especially with such "predictions".
4083  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Covid-19 and Bitcoin on: August 16, 2020, 05:39:12 AM
Coronavirus has made us stay home for months now, Bitcoin's price rised while most stocks crashed. Bitcoin's price rise probably has something to do with Coronavirus, People are staying home, buying things online to avoid contact with other people. My question is are more people being initiated to Bitcoin and are Bitcoins scams more frequent because of covid-19?

OP,the same questions were asked 1000 times before your post. There's no need to ask them again.
Yes,Bitcoin price went up because of the recession that was caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdowns.
Scams, that are built around Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are always frequent, the situation doesn't matter.
I don't agree that most of the people are "staying home".The quarantine lockdowns are gone fore good and I don't believe that many countries will repeat the same lockdown measures against COVID-19.
4084  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Rise Due to Lower US Dollar? on: August 15, 2020, 12:08:18 PM
In recent weeks, the price of Bitcoin appears to have been driven by one main factor, namely the weakening of the US dollar.
US dollar losing its value is not something that happens over night, it is a slow process whereas bitcoin price went up about 30% in a short time. this particular rise has nothing to do with US dollar and its "weakening".
overall, there is definitely a connection but we will only see said effects over the long haul.

Quote
The Rekt Capital Twitter account supports the analysis,
oh some random dude on twitter, so it must be correct /s

3 months ago,one dollar was selling for 1.79 Bulgarian leva, now 1 USD is selling for 1.66 BGN.
There's a significant fall of the USD price, even compared with a very small national currency like BGN.
I think that making comparisons between the USD and other major currencies like euro and British pound isn't showing the real decline of the USD,because the EUR and the British pound are going down as well.
Many investors hedged their USD reserves by buying BTC,so the Bitcoin price went up.
4085  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is SegWit and LN adoption still low today? on: August 15, 2020, 11:55:57 AM
3 years ago, when the Bitcoin Core blockchain was stuck with multiple small transactions, the fees were high and the confirmation time was low,SegWit and the Lightning Network were promoted as the solutions of those problems.3 years later, the Bitcoin Core blockchain is going just fine, the fees are OK,the confirmation time is decent.I think that Segwit helped the blockchain to get rid of high fees/slow confirmation problem.
The LN is a completely different case.LN is a not-so-user-friendly,centralized off-chain solution. That's why many bitconers won't trust the Lightning Network and might never adopt it in their business or daily life.

USA will survive the economic crisis if it becomes a socialist country

Hundreds of years of capitalism proved that capitalism is not good... some get rich and 90% stay poor .

It's time for cooperatives to shine ...It's time for a Socialist America .

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGqMMpMkKXs

Socialism failed everywhere around the word-Eastern Europe,Africa,Latin America,Asia.
The successful Scandinavian countries aren't socialist-they are capitalist, but with a welfare state.
What do you mean by socialism?
1.Capitalism with a welfare state(Scandinavian countries)?That's social democracy,not socialism.
2.Government ruled centralized economy and dictatorship(North Korea,Venezuela,USSR,Maoist China,Cuba)?
The first option isn't "true socialism".
The second option is a f**king disaster.

4087  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to make old people understand Bitcoin? on: August 15, 2020, 05:36:17 AM
I'm looking for the easiest way to make old people understand Bitcoin more thoroughly. I want to let the elderly know about the "Bitcoin revolution", yet I find it quite challenging to explain it to them in a way they can understand how it all works. There are some wallets that have a "user-friendly" interface, but even the basics of sending/receiving Bitcoin can have a steep learning curve for the older people. A Bitcoin wallet with built-in accessibility features, could help even elder people with vision or hearing problems to use the pioneer cryptocurrency in their daily lives.

If you happen to know of a way to make old people understand Bitcoin easily, please let me know. Any suggestions or recommendations will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley

We should focus on promoting Bitcoin across the young people. They are the future.
In order to explain Bitcoin, you have to explain the blockchain technology first.
The most oversimplified explanation is that the blockchain is a network of computers,in which every computer verifies and confirms every transaction that happens on that network. If older people can't understand this,I bet that they will never understand Bitcoin.
Just because old people aren't tech savvy, that doesn't mean that they are stupid. However, most of them are traditionalist and conservative,so they will stick until the end with the good old paper money.
4088  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and crypto currencies are getting dangerous on: August 15, 2020, 05:21:54 AM
I noticed how every exchange now enforces KYC on every individual that registers on their site, also the global governments/exchanges tracking bitcoin users and monitoring how they spend their bitcoins with the advanced visuals tools that’s out there, I believe if this stays like this and more and more companies start to enforce kyc on it customers, we will lose our freedom, people think bitcoin is the freedom but no it’s aint I believe it’s the most invasive surveillance mechanism ever, we can’t even use mixers anymore it’s basically doesn’t work because at the end of the day it’ll leave a trace no matter what you do, this is heading towards a solitary environmental and it’s not a good idea at all. Lets think twice and focus on our freedom, privacy and future.

KYC has nothing to do with freedom.ID verification is required when you use any fiat financial service(opening a bank account, forex trading account, using services like Paypal or Skrill, etc.)
Why the crypto exchange platforms should be different? They are considered to be financial services as well,so they have to abide by the same rules as fiat financial services.
The people, who are whining that they can't use mixers and complaining about KYC have something to hide from the authorities.
4089  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: My bitcoin is frozen at Paxful and they won't let me withdraw it on: August 14, 2020, 05:44:59 PM
I understand that your Bitcoin is frozen at Paxful and you can't withdraw it,but can you sell it for fiat payment methods inside the platform? Is your entire Paxful account frozen or only the BTC withdrawal is blocked?
I was very hyped up about creating a Paxful account and actively trading there. After your case,I might reconsider my decision. The biggest problem of Paxful is the lack of a good customer support team.
What amount of BTC is currently frozen? If it's a big amount,I'm pretty sure that such risk of being scammed   exists in any crypto P2P marketplace or crypto exchange platform.
4090  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Original Bitcoin Holder! HoDL HoDL HoDL on: August 14, 2020, 05:22:11 PM
Too sad that the forum member GameKyuubi isn't very active of the forum. His last post is dated back in January 2020,but it appears that he is logged in and browsing the forum in August 13 2020.
I guess that he is too busy HODLing. Grin
I agree with his post 100%.I myself can't pick the right time to sell my BTC,so I always sell at the wrong time/price.We are natural born HODLers. Grin
4091  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is the best platform for quickly purchasing bitcoin? on: August 14, 2020, 11:48:44 AM

What is the best platform for purchasing bitcoin quickly, without a long verification process, and with relatively low fees? I have been using Coinbase for years now but I am finally fed up with their convoluted terms, long waiting periods (that they barely even forewarn you about), giant transaction fees, and their seemingly random decisions to block my transactions or “freeze them for further review” that last days to weeks at a time.

I tried to make a moderately large transaction the other day and there was simply no way to get it done. I was tying to buy $600 worth of bitcoin and Coinbase told me the “transaction cannot be completed because of suspicious activity,” despite the fact that I was using the same completely verified account on the same IP address I’ve been using for years. I tried again later about ten times and received the same message every time. What are some alternatives that won’t put me through all of this? Preferably an alternative where I can quickly buy and send btc via my bank account or debit card. Security and verification processes don’t have to be great because I won’t be holding any coins on the site’s account. Thank you for any help provided.

Just Google "top 10 websites to buy Bitcoin".I don't believe that many people here will give you answers that are way different than the search results of the big G.There's no secret "magic" crypto trading platform that is going to offer you no KYC,low fees, fast transactions and great customer support. If some platform is promising all this stuff,it's 99,99% a scam.If something is too good to be true,it most likely is...
A few suggestions are Binance,Coinmama,Bitpanda,eToro and CEX...
I don't think that your experience with the above mentioned websites is going to be even slightly better compared with Coinbase. You will have to face the same BS everywhere.KYC,high fees, waiting to receive BTC...
4092  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Germany Continues Shutting All Unlicensed Bitcoin ATMs on: August 14, 2020, 11:30:34 AM
Unlicensed Bitcoin ATMs are potential scams that could steal the Bitcoins of many people.
However, the regulations regarding ATMs are way too strict,so the small businesses can't comply with the rules and only the big banks and companies dominate the ATM business, which isn't fair.
The rules should be changed,so the entry barrier for small companies in the ATM business can be lowered and,on the other hand, the ATM customers will be protected from scammers and fake ATMs.
Like one banker said back in 2009:"We don't need more rules. We need better rules"
4093  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are you a man or ...? Buy something right now ! on: August 14, 2020, 07:09:45 AM
Are you a woman?Only women are saying this "Do this or you're not a man..." type of BS.
I call it "man-shaming". Grin Only simps and Beta males fall for this social engineering s*it.
Yeah, spending is good for the economy, but if I go and buy something I don't need that's a double damage for me-less money and more garbage I don't need. Grin
By the way,I don't enjoy the 2014 song that you shared. Not my type of music...
4094  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MicroStrategy company adopts Bitcoin as primary treasury reserve asset. on: August 14, 2020, 06:44:58 AM
It surprises me that an "enterprise analytics and mobility software" company has cash reserves.Such tech companies are growing during the pandemic and I assume that they will invest more of their capital reserves into physical assets, like buying more equipment or hiring more employees.
This is a pretty good move, since Bitcoin successfully preserved it's value, during the last 2 months, while the US dollar went down.Maybe soon Bitcoin will be ETF approved and all the Wall Street funds and banks will start restructuring their portfolios by adding more BTC.
4095  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Interesting CoinDesk about "Dirty" Gold and "Dirty" Bitcoin on: August 14, 2020, 06:24:25 AM
How much of circulating bitcoin is "clean" anyway ?

"Dirtiness" only matters if most coins are clean.

There's no such thing as "dirty money" or "clean money".Money is just money. The same thing applies to all cryptocurrencies. The roman emperor Vespasian told his son ages ago that "Money doesn't smell." and he was right. The governments want us to think that there are "dirty money" and "dirty coins",because the government officials are just too lazy and incompetent to catch the criminals, who are making the so called "dirty money".
I'm surprised that there's "dirty gold". What else is next?Dirty Amazon stocks? Grin
4096  Economy / Economics / Re: Will African countries be developed? on: August 13, 2020, 05:32:14 PM
African countries can become developed if several requirements are met:
1.Birth control policies so the birth ratio can be lowered.Having way too many kids is what keeps many families poor.
2.More investments in the educational systems.
3.More government control over the natural resources of Africa.
4.Political stability and functioning democracy.
5.Acquiring more foreign capitals via tax benefits.
As long as those requirements are met,the African countries will have a bright future.Unfortunately, this isn't the case.
4097  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trader made 89% profit in minutes. Have anyone experienced it..? on: August 13, 2020, 05:19:10 PM
This guy isn't some crypto trading genius. There is a 8.5% margin when trading USDC/ETH and ETH/USDT.This looks more like arbitrage trading.I assume that this 8.5% gap will be temporary so nobody else will be able to make easy profits.
I would never put 45,000 USD into one cryptocurrency exchange platform and I would never do leverage trading.
He isn't a genius, but he definitely has big money that he can afford to lose(or maybe he has balls of steel). Grin

4098  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lost large number of bitcoins ----> 10 year anniversary on: August 13, 2020, 11:25:27 AM
An interesting article about a sad event that occurred 10 years ago when 'stone man' lost 8999 bitcoins
https://decrypt.co/38294/10-years-ago-a-man-lost-bitcoin-thats-now-worth-100-million

Original thread
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=782.msg8620#msg8620

Transaction that transferred 8999 bitcoins to a inaccessible "change" address. Ouch back them, but now a  ~100 million OUCH  Cry

Edit: corrected link...thanks TheArchaeologist!

There were plenty of horror stories about lost Bitcoins during the last 10 years. All of them are pretty interesting...and so what? It's like burning a winning lottery ticket by mistake.
It's quite unfortunate, but life must go on.
Let's think about this from a different perspective. Those 8,999BTC are out of the BTC market circulation forever,so the BTC total supply is even more limited and Bitcoin is even more scarce, which means that the Bitcoin price has a better chance of hitting the moon some day.Always look on the bright side of life. Grin
4099  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin lands #27 as top assets by marketcap (Stocks, ETF and Crypto) on: August 13, 2020, 11:03:28 AM
The fact that Bitcoin is the 27th most traded asset in the world(if this statistic is actually accurate) means that there's still lots of potential for future growth of both the Bitcoin price and the Bitcoin market cap.
However, comparing Bitcoin to stocks is wrong(and people are still going it all the time). Grin
I fair comparison would be comparing crypto companies like Coinbase and Benance to Apple,Amazon and Microsoft, but Coinbase and Benance are way smaller, compared with the tech giants.
4100  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it the new crypto scam hiding in wait? on: August 13, 2020, 06:06:09 AM
The fact that this scam had acquired 300M USD for such a short time proves to me that the greed of crypto investors is constantly growing and the fear is decreasing.Risk takers and speculative investors have taken the crypto markets again and I expect some price corrections to happen in both ethereum(which price is obviously artificially pumped) and other coins(maybe including Bitcoin). All it takes is some big DeFI scam to get exposed for the investors to run away like sheep and crash the prices.
Anyway, pretty funny meme.I wonder how the Bitcoin project Chad dev looks like? Grin
