4081  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bull trap or lasting on: August 01, 2021, 11:55:18 AM
we reached the all-time high around $60,000 and drop below $30,000 that is already a huge percentage of drop
Bitcoin has seen worse drop than what it recently went through. The current drop is slightly less than 50% from its ATH of $60,000 plus to ATL of below $30,000, that's still okay compared to what we had in 2018 from an ATH of >19,000 to below $3,500. That was almost like Bitcoin was getting whipped out. On the main, I strongly believe we are in another bull rally having observed Bitcoin crossed the trading range it was confined to for weeks.

There may be retracement from time to time but that doesn't mean we're going to plunge into a bear run as that range has been broken to the upper side.
4082  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: why do you keep allcoins? on: August 01, 2021, 05:09:24 AM
if that happens how long do you have to wait 2 years, 3 years, 5 years or...?

while new coins are popping up all the time, still waiting for him to peak again?
I've a bearish perception for 2022 for the entire crypto matket, taking a cue from the last bull run in 2017. History has a way of repeating itself. I don't see this circle to be any different. About why anyone keeps altcoins – it's called diversification of portfolio. By the way, not doing that will mean owning only Bitcoin. Remember that every other crypto that isn't Bitcoin is tagged altcoin, including ETH.

Doge is an illustration as an example that they only go up temporarily, after that they fall back very quickly, I think in the next 2 or 3 years the coin will have a maximum selling value, if for now they stay at the same figure.
Dogecoin isn't doing badly in the market if you want to draw a comparison between it any many alts, really. It has even surpassed the price appreciation of XRP when you crosscheck historical data in terms of ROI within this period. I ain't writing Dogecoin off. At least, not yet now

No be much wahala to grow big teeth but na to grow big lips to cover am be the gbenge.

Meaning: One should have a mastery of how to wriggle oneself out of troubles if one can't abstain from them.

Make we even use this Abba Kyari (the police officer turned tailor 🙊)and Hushpuppi gbenge take do example for this proverb sef.
4084  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Scam calling on: July 31, 2021, 07:19:09 PM
OP, I like the fact that you wasted the scammer's time. It's a good way to go if you have the time to spare anyway. Most times, scammers don't even stay online that long. They want to cut to the chase or pretentiously drop the call on one in the middle of it so one could call them back. I have had several encounters with them. Believe me, most times it's greed and not paying attention that get people to fall for their obvious tricks. However, next time do send them the OTP they ask for by giving them 914419 or 9491520 (That's the numerical representation of "idiot" from the English alphabet 🙄)
4085  Economy / Reputation / Re: Show of Appreciation, A Senior Member, a new responsibility on: July 31, 2021, 04:22:37 PM
Well @nakamura12, whatever the case may be just be happy and grateful that you got merited by him even if partial. Forget the semantics of the whole thing and focus on the bigger picture. That Nutidah's thread served as a leverage for many users whose profile ordinarily would've been missed by other users who eventually merited them. I also applied in the second phase but didn't receive any. Only that Palle account was lucky to have been awarded in that batch. Let's just keep our fingers crossed. You never can tell when the next good thing will happen. Cheers!
4086  Economy / Reputation / Re: Show of Appreciation, A Senior Member, a new responsibility on: July 31, 2021, 03:42:29 PM
I think it was obvious why Nutidah awarded you that partial merit of 25merits as at the time he did. You were 225 merits far from ranking up and as such weren't qualified for the scholarship to start with. He didn't just want to leave you home and dry according to his comment here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5338649.msg57083389#msg57083389 . I think he did it out of leniency by bending the rule of his game just to accommodate you on that one. Those who got full merits of 50 and above basically met the criteria for qualification. So, I don't think there's anything wrong if he decides to splash you with more merits or not. It's his discretion to do what he thinks best.
4087  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm now all in BTC. All eggs in one basket! on: July 31, 2021, 06:51:49 AM
By not sold a bit, do you mean not sold any at all? Those would be very strong hands you got
But is not selling at all a wise decision? I don't believe anyone will be said to be a wise investor or hodler if they don't take profits from time to time to rebuy the dip. Only those who are horrible at trading would not sell at all and I'm cocksure they will always regret the chances they don't take. Again, I strongly believe that Bitcoin or any other crypto won't be valuable if no one ever gets to sell at all. Buying and selling are what gives a thing its value.
4088  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I started investing in crypto 4 years ago but recently did I made profits on: July 31, 2021, 04:18:17 AM
Share Name of Influencer That you feel is shady?
You will also be doing the influencer(s) you've picked as credible some good and aiding this community if you shared their names or channels too. Good things need appreciation so as to suppress evil. It's a way of shaming and avoiding the scammers amongst the influencers. For me, I like to listen to Bithoy Crypto on YouTube. I try as much as I can to hodl firm to any token I have that he promotes. His calls have been tremendous.

4090  Economy / Reputation / Re: A Heroic Moment: My gratitude on: July 30, 2021, 07:53:20 PM
Thank you all for the congratulatory messages. I'm humbled the more in gratitude and so sure that without the merit system a lot of us wouldn't be appreciating this "moving up"

igehhh, for a second I thought you were Hero already. Well, you're safe having got enough merits to that status. Ranking up is almost effortless for you now.
4091  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 30, 2021, 09:32:32 AM

As long as price continues to remain caged in between those two lines, no clear move is in sight for Bitcoin bear or bull. That's my take.
4092  Economy / Reputation / Re: A Heroic Moment: My gratitude on: July 29, 2021, 07:13:32 PM
I wasn't well familiar with you and most likely I missed your posts.
Perhaps, a lot of users also missed me too. May be because of sections I post. Going forward, I hope my moniker sticks out henceforth for all well-wishers. 🤔

~snipped~
I don't want to sound like a broken record. You're good. My assessment of you was given without bias or hypocritical pandering.

4094  Economy / Reputation / Re: A Heroic Moment: My gratitude on: July 29, 2021, 02:10:41 PM
Thanks, bro--and congratulations on hitting Hero Member!  You've got enough activity for Legendary, so now the hard part (as I'm sure you're well aware of) is getting those remaining 500 merits.
Yes, I know it's going to be a tough one. I'm prepared to put in my best efforts and not be distracted while climbing that distinct ladder to the apex.

If you're interested, you can drop me a PM once a month for a post history review and I'll do my best to merit any of your posts that I may have overlooked.
Wow! That's very kind and generous of you. Certainly, that's an offer I'm taking up. Thanks bro for the showers today. I sincerely appreciate.
4095  Economy / Reputation / A Heroic Moment: My gratitude on: July 29, 2021, 07:53:45 AM
First off – LoyceV, thanks a great deal for that big push yesterday! It was the most merit I've ever received.

It may look like it's not a big deal to be moving up the ladder in rank but to me it is. It's a big step, having stayed on the Senior rank for too long a time. At first, it didn't bother me to have been seemingly stagnated on that rank provided I felt I was doing all I could to the best of my perspicacity in making decent posts. Then I noticed that a lot of users I got on the forum before started ranking up before me. That got me worried, I intensified efforts in my posts but it didn't get me the desired merits until I forgot about making posts with merit in mind. The merit started coming. It's an irony, really.

Let me cut to the chase and not bore you with my story telling. Where I hail from, showing gratitude is an intrinsic part of our wellbeing.

I want to thank all who directly or indirectly have made my stay on the forum memorable. None of these users have I met in person but it feels like family chatting with them. CryptopreneurBrainboss, you're a good guy with a heart of gold. Your managerial and organisational skills haven't corrupted your humility. Two things that move me in people – Humility and Brains. You've got both.

Hhampuz, thank you too for giving me a shoulder to lean on when things got really crazy at my end.

CryptocurencyKing, Pokapoka124, Smartvirus, you guys are awesome keeping the fire burning at owa local "old people's corner." Una sabi how e dey bi na for African Proverbs in Pidgin. Na men wey una be! Nor be today wey hole don dey yansh na.

I also thank the entire Nigeria Local Board crew for finding it worthy to identify with their roots despite all odds and rallied round during the demise of one of its own.

I must confess how greatly I enjoy reading posts from some users in the Chipmixer campaign and tapping from their wealth of knowledge. These users' posts are deep and concise for me. Sometimes, I smile through reading them because of the banters. Thank you DdmrDdmr, pooya87, The Pharmacist, Suchmoon, o-e-l-e-o, AdolfinWolf, TryNinja, fillippone, mk4 who seem to be everywhere on the forum. I may not have merited your posts because I scarcely have any when I need to do the needful. But just know I lurk around to read you guys.

My gratitude goes beyond these names but for the want of space, I draw the curtains here. Hey! JayJuanGee, thanks too!

And to all the users whose paths have crossed mine in constructive criticism and fertilization of ideas, I say thanks a great deal. Your insights made this move possible. For users who are still having a hard time ranking up, persevere. Don't give up. Your time will soon come.

Thank you all. Now, let's roll the sleeves for more digging!
4096  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance squeezes users on verification on: July 29, 2021, 05:48:46 AM
this is obviously killing the anonymous thing Bitcoin and cryptocurrency should stand for.

Will BNB take the hit and crash while this is on?
BNB is a centrally controlled shitcoin, it's the opposite of what cryptocurrency stands for. I wouldn't touch it, even better: let it die!
Well, I wouldn't get to the point of wanting BNB to be dead like a certain Bitcoinconnect coin and other worthless ones. For one, the popularity of the Binance smart chain (BSC) which woke ETH from its slumbers and gave it a run for its money rests on the workings of the Binance token (BNB) itself. I suspected the news would shake the token a bit. I quickly sold my BNB hodling yesterday, waiting for a dip. Though the news hasn't done any damage yet. I'm still waiting for that imminent fall before a rise.

Edited: thanks for the merits!
4097  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance squeezes users on verification on: July 28, 2021, 05:05:33 PM
so if you can get your coins out of the exchange as soon as possible, but do not worry binance competitors will see this and take advantage of it and will eventually gain a reputation similar to the one binance has right now, or you know you could always move to decentralized exchanges.
To even think that Binance had maintained a steady withdrawal fee of 0.00057BTC over the years for its Bitcoin withdrawal no matter what amount anyone is withdrawing is, for me, very ridiculous. In the current market price that amount is $22.84. It doesn't matter to CZ if one is even withdrawing less than $10 worth of Bitcoin.
4098  Economy / Exchanges / Binance squeezes users on verification on: July 28, 2021, 03:32:05 PM
I have been flabbergasted, really, since I got that Binance is pressing and squeezing its users for what now seems a compulsory verification exercise by reducing its daily withdrawal limit from 2BTC to 0.06BTC for non verified accounts. I don't know what to make of this headlong as this is obviously killing the anonymous thing Bitcoin and cryptocurrency should stand for. Did anyone else who hasn't upgraded verification beyond basic one get that message?

Will Binance lose client base now. Will BNB take the hit and crash while this is on? There are many speculations going on in my mind right now.

What do you think?

About identification, yes it will come for you just like it came for me as the only award winner among the applicants in nutildah's
Bitcointalk Urban Achievers Merit Scholarship Program thread , for whatever reason that I was the only one among the applicants, I don't know but I'm surely greatful for the favour.
Well, not entirely true that you were the only recipient, as Nutidah also merited more users for July to complete the promise of 100merits for them for last month (June) as he exceeded his monthly splash of a maximum 50 per user by default.

Next time, you may want to use this parameter

4100  Economy / Economics / Re: Amazon will accept Bitcoin payment this year on: July 28, 2021, 03:21:10 AM
I just came across a post in another thread who found it the article is probably fake. All the things you mention here rather confirm that Amazon hasn't specifically planned to announce any plans nor have they finally decided to accept Bitcoin by the end of the year. They might have some plans in the pipeline, but nothing that should or could be leaked to the public as far as I know.

It must be a fake. Amazon announced today that they will not accept Bitcoin. Even if they were working on Bitcoin integration, they wouldn't deny it so vehemently. The bitcoin price has also already reacted and has lost over 10% from its interim highs yesterday. It's just always amazing how unconfirmed rumors, can trigger such a price increase.
I guess you guys were referring to this – https://www.forbes.com/sites/billybambrough/2021/07/27/bitcoin-suddenly-gives-up-its-price-gains-after-amazon-shock-sending-ethereum-bnb-cardano-xrp-and-dogecoin-sharply-lower/?sh=25da30286842
