4101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Am done with KYC on: May 23, 2019, 07:28:29 AM
We do need to always be careful around KYC as it is certainly another route for scams. Sometimes it is a genuine requirement as new projects want to ensure that they abide by the laws of the country in which they're based... but yes also sometimes it is a scam to gain personal information to sell on. It's one reason why IEOs are becoming more popular, as the exchanges do a lot of this verification for us. That doesn't mean that ICOs that require KYC are bad, just that it's something to be very careful about and make sure it's a genuine company and genuine project. And even then, the idea of parting with KYC information just for a few dollars seems not worth the risk.
4102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Selling tokens/low market cap coins for Bitcoin? on: May 23, 2019, 07:05:30 AM
A lot of this depends on whether its a good alt or not. Those that are good solid projects may fall on initial listing as most do, but once the product is given time to develop I would expect big increases. It really depends on the alt.
BTC is certainly the safer option, but this less risk also means less chance of big rewards. But don't give up on newly listed alts as soon as the price drops, it takes time to build a working product and to get the roadmap sufficiently advanced that people have something real to compare the coin's value against.
4103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best Time to Sell Altcoins on: May 22, 2019, 10:40:03 AM
In general the best time to sell alts is when the market starts to turn bearish. That is when BTC is safer, as it holds its value better when the market falls. Of course even better is take money out of crypto (or put in stablecoins if necessary) when the bear market comes.
4104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Trading with new? on: May 22, 2019, 07:30:14 AM
Trading with coins that are new to the market can be difficult, as markets are often thin, which can mean firstly that prices aren't really representative of the merit of the project, and secondly that there is a large gap between buy and sell orders. Another reason it's difficult is that most coins suffer when newly listed, so there is more chance of the price dropping than is the case with more established coins.
Overall I think for new projects the best approach to trading is to wait until there is at least some working product so the price has some relationship to the actual product rather than purely speculation.
4105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are we in a silent bull run?? on: May 22, 2019, 07:11:27 AM
The bull run has been here for the last few months. Prices are climbing, which is good to see. But it's also good to see that there are also periods where the price levels off too. It is I think more sustainable this way. So overall very encouraging.
4106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin,Litecoin,Ethereum,Ripple,Doge on: May 21, 2019, 01:39:15 PM
Out of those 5, I would say BTC, ETH and XRP are worth buying, LTC less so, and I don't think Doge should be up there for consideration really.
If you're looking for big percentage gains, then the best coins are to be found amongst those lower in marketcap - but here of course comes more risk.
4107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: $500k portfolio - Suggestions? on: May 21, 2019, 07:52:52 AM
Last year I've made a small fortune and I have $500k right now.

If this is true then you really don't need advice from people here - you'll certainly be able to choose better coins than I do, for a start.

As I'm sure you know it's all about research, understanding current state and using this to predict future state. What types of coin will prosper as advances in technology continue to change society? What will the world of the next few years look like, and which projects look best placed to play a major role?
4108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TRON to soon displace ETHEREUM? on: May 21, 2019, 07:28:04 AM
I think there is pretty much zero chance of Tron displacing ETH in the near future. Sure it may happen several years down the line, but at the moment and for the foreseeable future ETH remains far and away the best smart contract platform. Potential competitors are just that - potential. A lot of the problems that ETH has faced and overcome have been due to its wide adoption. Most other coins haven't been battle-tested in the same way, and whilst they may look good in theory, they have yet to offer much evidence.
4109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Lowcap gems on: May 21, 2019, 07:16:33 AM
I'm not sure this is a great idea for a thread, as it will be impossible to tell what is genuine impartial advice and what is bagholders shilling their coins. I think any coin that is recommended needs a ton of justification for the recommendation to carry any weight... which is why I'm not recommending anything.
4110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are we in a silent bull run?? on: May 20, 2019, 02:28:24 PM
I ve seen many threads asking whether we are entering into a bull run or market will crash again. To me, the bull run is already here but it takes only experience to identify it. One key characteristic of the bull run is that, every drop is an opportunity to buy. During this period, the probability of earning profit from your investment (whenever there is a drop) is far higher than the probability to lose. Don't sit down and wait till Bitcoin hits 20k again before you realize we are in the bull run. Try and make enough profits now that the market is booming before its too late.

I think the market has been bullish since mid-February. I'm not sure why people are asking, it seems quite easy to see by the charts. One question remaining though is whether once BTC growth slows, alts will pick up the slack and increase by a greater percentage than BTC.
4111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH vs BTC on: May 20, 2019, 01:07:17 PM
Do you think ETH may outperform BTC in the next bull run?

Yes, there's a good chance of that happening as ETH is at quite a low point in its price vs BTC.
ETH dropped harder than BTC did during the bear market, and I think there's a good chance it will rise by a greater percentage than BTC during the current bull market.
ETH is still a very strong project.
4112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Nem near 40% pump!!! on: May 17, 2019, 01:48:49 PM
I like Nem over xrp becaus i found this is the best coin even it’s again smart contract creation platform it has done some agreement in Middle East in past . Now it’s pumping as it’s potential . Why can’t people choos nem over xrp . Atleast we can support decentrelised over centralised coin.

The catapult upgrade news has certainly catapulted NEM up the price charts. Still some way below ATH, but it is doing well and nice to see it back in the top 20 in cap.
I do hold NEM, and I like the project - it isn't a competitor to XRP though, so they can't really be compared to one another.
4113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Believe it or not! XRP Will Go Past $4 on: May 17, 2019, 10:04:59 AM
Seriously ?  Well 4usd is not a serious amount . Its small and xrp is a solid coin . Everyone is expecting a higher price range from xrp   .

What is good news?  This is merely a speculation thread that was started.  Usd value ($4) is based on btc/xrp pair, so to say xrp is "doing good" if it hits $4 is relative. If you buy xrp at 5200 sats and its $.37 and because bitcoin spikes and xrp value is $4 but is only worth 4000 sats that's terrible.  You lost more than 20% of you value if you just kept your money in bitcoin.  Usd value is silly with alts

Why will you loss if you will buy xrp at 5200 sats and if the value of xrp reaches 4 usd ?  I think you will only earn huge profit  . You will only loose if the value of xrp drops below your buying point but xrp is a good coin and it does have the potential to grow more in the future.

It means that whilst you would gain $, you would gain fewer $ than if you'd just kept your money in BTC instead.

However I do think that if (when?) XRP hits $4 then it is likely to have increased against BTC as well as against the dollar. $4 is not far above ATH price for XRP... and it would need a BTC price of almost $80,000 in order not to increase against BTC.
4114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Cryptopia is gone? on: May 16, 2019, 09:42:52 AM
I think we'll get a chance to withdraw coins. It's not a scam exchange. But as others have said this is likely to take quite some time for them to resolve everything and open up withdrawals again. Just another reminder not to keep large volumes of coins on any exchanges.
4115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sending wrong erc20 tokens on: May 16, 2019, 07:38:11 AM
Is it possible a bounty provider or bounty team as the case maybe send more than what you earn on the spreadsheet to your wallet? I was reading in a bounty group where sone one said he got more than 1million token when the whole bounty pool is just 9million . won't that affect other bounty hunters from getting their reward?

It's certainly possible, whether by error or just because that's the way the reward share worked.

It is certainly possible to get 10% of overall bounty if the campaign is not popular so doesn't have many participants... but you'd need to do a lot in the high-paying sections of bounty. So maybe you do a few translations, and not many other people do so you get a big % of translation pool stakes, which is often the highest paying part.
4116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alts to invest. on: May 16, 2019, 07:23:42 AM
Hey, what do you think of these alts? Would like to get the community's opinions.

In order of most favored:

NEO: (Personal Fav). Huge Chinese Crypto industry. Working with the government. Smart Contracts. Also GAS!
ETH: 2nd Market cap. First at smart contracts. Reliable. But they are falling behind hence second.
XRP: Riding the hype. Big company. Well organized. Centralized

Any other ones you would recommend (Preferably about 20 top market cap) ?

I like them. I think ETH and XRP are the best two alts you can get (there is a reason they are top two alts in marketcap). NEO I also think is good.

For something else in top 20 I would say take a look at NEM, although it has had a price surge in the last few hours so not quite as good value as it was.

Outside top 20 I still like Nano, and its price has dropped significantly from when the hype was at its highest, so that might be worth a look too.
4117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Another trap for ETH? on: May 16, 2019, 07:12:06 AM
ETH has looked hugely underpriced vs BTC for a long time now - look at the BTC line on the historic ETH chart.
ETH got hit too hard in the bear market, and is now making its comeback. The last time BTC was this price, ETH was something like $600. There is still quite a way to go.
4118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Dump the alts on: May 15, 2019, 02:12:38 PM
I'm not here to spread FUD before you start throwing accusations at me. I'm just saying though, Bitcoin is increasing in price, and it's probably a very wise idea to sell your coins and hold BTC at this point. I'm however not referring to alts like ETH, Tezos, LTC and the other solid ones out there. I'm mostly referring to the projects that have not followed the roadmap and didn't manage to deliver and let's be honest, there are plenty. Probably anything not in the top 15 in CoinMarketcap is not worth investing it (with few exceptions).

And apparently, there is some confusion within the community about price increases in CoinMarketCap and people think that everything is going up right now, which is not the case. The green numbers you're seeing in the price page don't represent much. If you click on the coin though, you'll see the price in Satoshi... that's the one that should be increasing.

I do agree that price increases in CoinMarketCap can be misleading for low volume coins - if a coin is 0.001 BTC, and BTC rises 10%, then with no trading on that low volume alt then that also rises 10% in dollar terms because it stays at 0.001 BTC.

But I differ a bit with regard to BTC and top alts. I think that any big crypto bull market tends to start with BTC rising fast, then BTC slows down and the good alts start to increase fast... so maybe my strategy is buy BTC as soon as it starts moving up, then once it slows switch to ETH/XRP and so on.
4119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Believe it or not! XRP Will Go Past $4 on: May 15, 2019, 11:33:28 AM
Crypto Bitlord reassured his belief in the present bull run, adding that once the news breaks, XRP will make an uninterrupted drive to $4 resistant point. While the exact news being referred to seems a bit vague, Bitlord stressed that XRP will keep striding to flip Bitcoin.

I do believe that XRP is an extremely strong coin, and I also am very confident that it will hit and pass $4 in the future.

The bit I can't see though is the 'uninterrupted drive to $4'... we had that before at the end of 2017 with the uninterrupted drive to $3, and it turned back almost instantly and dropped below $1 again. Given that happened last time, I can't see it rising that far in a single drive - a lot of people will surely remember their history and take profits out well before that point.
4120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: May 15, 2019, 08:59:35 AM
It happens so often with XRP, and it's happened again. I don't know why, but when this coin goes up it really goes up almost vertically, so much so fast... other top coins are a lot slower, even the huge BTC movement we've seen recently is still very slow compared to XRP.
XRP seems to always move up in these huge sudden jumps, it's weird.
