4101  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Active Connections on: December 14, 2015, 06:18:03 PM
If you want to have more nodes connected, just google to find some bitcoin nodes than edit you bitcoin.conf files in bitcoin folder in appdata/roaming : addnode=x.x.x.x (this is usually applied to alt currency but I think every coin is the same Grin )

While addnode works for bitcoin core, its usually not needed. There is also no bitcoin.conf by default it needs to be created. Addnode makes more sense to be put into console anyway.

I only have 3 active connections to Bitcoin network when syncing, how do I increase this? Bit of a noob so exact guide would be perfect, thanks.

Its somewhat normal that you have less connections than you can while you sync. Only 3 is a bit low though. Do you allow connections from the outside?

Well those aren't threads, which this thread is supposed to link. This is a similar thread however, please add it sho: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1159946.0

Would have added them anyway. Nice thread though so I will take it. Was a bit surprised to find my own key there.

Ok, danke für den Input. Smiley

Blockchain.info erlaubt generell beliebig viele Adressen.

4104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ads for bitcoin in cinemas? - Update 1 on: December 14, 2015, 05:43:11 PM
Last week I have been to the Gründerfrühstück ("breakfast for startups") here in Wiesbaden to intoduce and discuss the idea of crowdfunding bitcoin advertisements. Went pretty well and I received a lot of interesting response, here is the article (german):
http://rhein-main-startups.com/2015/12/14/gruenderfruehstueck-im-dezember-bitcoins-im-kino-ein-kaufhaus-im-kiez-und-vieles-mehr/

- Gregor

Well I can't read German but I think what you're doing is really good, I applaud you for trying to help bitcoin become more mainstream.

Quote

Rough translation:

Gregor Volkmann has no easy time, bitcoin divides the minds not only in general but also within the startup community. Gregor wants to produce cinema commercials for local shops that accept bitcoin as payment. The campaigns is supposed to be crowed funded, starting march 2016. To get an idea here is a video[1] or discuss with bitcoin experts[2].

Hey guys, I recently wanted to withdraw my sig campaign earnings from fastdice, and they only provide a 10k satoshi withdrawal fee, that acts as your tx fee. But it seems this 1000 byte tx of mine is too big for that small fee Sad

https://blockchain.info/tx/64ac491d5f3064a65b3a4c0c026a417b7b48c1f730350a186c2a80de5be62059

Is there any way I could manually confirm the tx, or push the tx into the next block? I'm afraid it'll get stuck in the mempool, and I really need this BTC. :-/

No, unless you are friends with a mining pool there is nothing you can do, but to make sure the network does not forget about the TX.

You can take the TX in hex format -> https://blockchain.info/tx/64ac491d5f3064a65b3a4c0c026a417b7b48c1f730350a186c2a80de5be62059?format=hex

and rebroadcast it from time to time, e.g. via one of the sites listed here -> https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Transaction_broadcasting

I've tried with blockchain.info. But it it just says that my transaction already exists. What does rebroadcasting do?

It reminds the network about the transaction. If the transaction is not forgotten it is very difficult to double spend it and it will get confirmed eventually. The last TX with ~1000 satoshi fee I got took 3 days.
4107  Economy / Services / Re: DoubleBot Signature Campaign [ High Payments ] on: December 14, 2015, 11:59:35 AM
They're just advertising. When MSN/AOL advertise a car as being top of its class in reliability, and then it has a recall due to reliability issues, do you think they should also be charged since they are making a false claim, leading people into buying something they shouldn't?

Shorena (and others) stated that those negs will be removed, if they remove the signature (and don't get paid for it).

corrected something that was supposed to , you should not leave more than neutral to someone who is signaturing solely for the attrctive payouts ...
ignoring the logic is also some kind of misbehavior or not rightful.

A neutral rating is only helpful if someone checks the history. A negative rating is easier to spot and check.
yeah but i ain't speaking for the red but the thing is we all know it is only for the high payment and nothing to do with the scam and i cannot ignore that fact .

It's fine to make them Red for now but it shouldn't be visible forever , must be changed to neutral if the removed the sig regardless of the payment received cause if the user is not wearing any scamming sig then what are you warning newbies for ?

If they are getting punished just for the extra coins they tried to earn and had no intentions to scam then i wouldn't agree with that at least after seeing all the sig drama.

I have not updated this here, but yes I will change the rating to neutral once the signature is gone.

What about listing all known BTC addresses (allegedly) belonging to Satoshi, so anyone could check whether or not there's any activity on them. Not sure how many of them there is, but it's not easy to find that info, so it could be pretty useful.

5/7 would add. Is there a thread for it?

4113  Other / Meta / Re: Referral links are considered SPAM in OP but mediafire downloadable links not? on: December 13, 2015, 10:42:43 PM
#1 its against the rules.
#2 you - as a newbie - are still moderated by parolers, which might be more strict.
#3 I have seen lengthy threads that just had their ref links removed instead of deleted. I would think your post was probably not spam per se, even though I did not see it.

Entire point of this thread was/is: As a Newbie am I not allowed to question the rules which I don't understand?

No you are, thats not what Im saying.

Why do anyone have to take anything w/o understanding the logical reasoning behind it? Which link can be more dangerous for potential user? Downloadable link (where they dont know up front what could be inside that) or Referral link (where they can see what they are clicking upon & even google that site even before clicking on that referral link)

I dont think danger is the metric here, but spam. Since spam is somewhat subjective its not logical (see my post about experience). The other thing is that staff is allowed to interpret the rules in their own way. So while some may remove any post with a referal link no matter how constructive the post is, others might only remove the link if the post itself is good (or good enough). I personally think that a patroler (handles newbies only) is more likely to be the first kind of staff.

4114  Other / Meta / Re: Referral links are considered SPAM in OP but mediafire downloadable links not? on: December 13, 2015, 10:23:09 PM
spam refers to the content of the post.
IMHO posts which only exists because they want to share a ref link are spam.
if a post is valid and good AND contains reflink its ok (my opinion).

IMHO that rule is in place because if ref links are allowed there are more spam posts (content wise) and staff has more work to do.

I am also of the same opinion. As long as program being advertised is not against any rules for sites allowed to be promoted on this forum then why should referral link not allowed to be posted as part of OP?
For that matter, I created 1 thread where I wanted referrals for DollarClix (GPT Site where users can earn by completing offers) & mexxer-2 reported it and some moderator deleted it saying it's SPAMMY. Since that day I am confused how was my thread spamming the entire forum?

For me, all those users who post on any Newbie's thread to mark them as scammers just to advertise the campaign they are promoting in their signature are spammers but my thread which was supposed to be read by only those people who were interested in getting those 20 cents or something from me. I did not put any misleading content as part of my post. I was crystal clear with my requirements but still that post was marked as spammy. How?

node.jps PMed me to look at this thread.

I believe you should stop promoting a ponzi in your signature.  Shorena is well within his rights to leave you negative trust.

I also haven't seen Shorena at any of the god parties.

Mabye invite me some time?

/thread ?

Id like to ad that I will change the ratings to neutral even though payment has received as long as the signature is removed. I changed other ratings as well, it makes no sense to insist that it stays here. Should not make a difference to you personally as you have me excluded anyway, but it might to OP and others.
4116  Other / Meta / Re: Referral links are considered SPAM in OP but mediafire downloadable links not? on: December 13, 2015, 10:11:26 PM
My best guess is that you are looking for something that is not there. I dont think there is a logical explanation why referal links are not allowed, but that it was rather a decision made based on experience. I remember a time where I was paid to follow someones ref link, so this was certainly not put in place with the first post or if it was, it was not moderated as much as it is now.
4117  Other / Meta / Re: Hilarious bots posting nonsense: what's the point? on: December 13, 2015, 10:07:05 PM
Since captchas can be solved easily, how about we put up a few halting problems? Only for the first 10 posts.

No? Dont wana limit the board to people who can read code. ok, back to reporting.

I think the mods want to leave this forum as minimal as possible which includes javascript not being needed to do anything so it means if they come up with something it would be able to get resolved without needing to turn javascript on.

In the meantime im reporting as much as as I can and hope everyone else is doing so as well.

Wasnt really serious with puting up halting problems. Its certainly increasing the reports counter though, but they are hardly up for longer than a few minutes.
4118  Other / Meta / Re: Referral links are considered SPAM in OP but mediafire downloadable links not? on: December 13, 2015, 09:40:16 PM
-snip-
Can you please tell what's wrong with posting Referral link as part of OP then?

It boils down to this: (tl;dr: admin says no)

-snip-
Do not make topics or replies just to share your referral link. Whether it's in your sig, avatar, personal message, profile, within the post itself, or tattooed on your forehead is irrelevant.
-snip-

You are allowed to put your refferal link on your signature
So, when you make promotion, ask users to join through refferal link on your signature
And you might want to use link shortener, so every user can't know the refferal link

Any you should know it already when you join this forum

Still referral spam.

If you pay people to register under your ref link it works on games and rounds, also sometimes when people find new promos or giveaways they give their ref link and a non ref link, seems to be allowed aswell.

Still referral spam.
4120  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin QT 11.2 keeps crashing on: December 13, 2015, 09:30:56 PM
Do you by any chance have an anti virus tool running on that machine that might cause trouble? There are some virus signatures in the blockchain, this causes some AV software to block access to the files.
