In most countries, people 18-22 are on very low salaried jobs or employers don't think their qualified enough or too qualified for a job.

To me, there's little point working at minimum wage until it's at its highest. Student loans aren't problematic they're just made to seem that way afaik... A degree should only set you back £60k, which if youre earning enough for it to impact you, you can pay it off pretty quickly - otherwise it's not a problem.

A lot of people also aren't after financial freedom, they'd probably just say they'd get bored and keep working. If you're wanting to travel you could find a job that pays you to do that too probably.
4102  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to insert pictures in my post? on: June 15, 2020, 04:37:28 AM
You're a newbie, you'll have to wait until you've earnt 1 merit and been here a month.

Either that or you can buy a copper membership: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=credit;promote

Or you could ask someone to post the pictures below yours where you want them to be posted. If you post a link and just ask someone will probably do it.

Just used 1 sat per byte and it confirmed pretty quickly. I wasn't keeping an eye on it but it was within the hour! From a legacy one input address.
4104  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Democracy and Humanism suck and don't work on: June 15, 2020, 02:28:09 AM

democracy is pointless, there can't be a democracy if no one pays taxes.

democracy is around how to spend money & taxes.

If you don't pay taxes you lose any minimum wage or unemployment support people had for whatever reason, you lose police, judges and most importantly any sort of defence/military. You also lose your central monetary system, what you going to replace those paper notes with, who's going to back it up..

And if you don't have any military support, someone will just come along from outside and invade or from within and build up an inner circle to take over and run the country - reinventing taxes to fund themselves...? Or they'll just enslave everyone in the land or at least those who don't agree.
4105  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Democracy and Humanism suck and don't work on: June 15, 2020, 01:58:28 AM
The main issue with democratic movements is that the outspoken are the ones that are heard and they're normally the "radicals" so their ideas just go ignored by most other than other "free radicals" (if you pardon the metaphor). I'm not sure of the way to get rid of the current ideals of democracy.

The main system that seems to go suggested is that either of a technocratic system or a decentralised democratic one.

In technocratic systems, people with knowledge in an area can vote on the outcomes (such as university professors etc) however most researchers can change opinions based on research pretty quickly or jst forget about stuff (and it'd obviously require a committee of judges to determine if they're voting right).

Places with a more decentralised democracy, imo, should take 1000 representatives and place them in a parliament/congress type setting where they can vote on whether to pass a law or not (a counsel of judges are generally used already in places to ensure bills can be enforced) a simple idea of individual 1000 strong juries being able to vote on each bill and if a majority of those elect in favour over the year, then it can be passed. Something like changing each jury every week and ensuring 30 juries vote on it in a year or it gets dropped until it gets a further threshold again as a new petition.

These are just rhoughts I've had and I'm not sure of the likelihood of them just breaking after a certain amount of time but enough random people could be selected from different locations so each part of the population groups get equally represented.
4106  Other / Meta / Re: notification for indirect post deletion? on: June 15, 2020, 12:23:29 AM
Unfortunately for me this week, I have posted at least 20 post this week "from the 8th to the 14th", but I did not realize that today I must accept the fact that I only have 13 posts left. Although I always pay attention to the quality of posts every time I do, but in the end I failed to get paid in the campaign for this week because it did not reach the minimum number of post. Is there a way to prevent this from happening in the future ? I do not know where the mistake is.

I do not blame deletion, but I just want to correct this error so that it does not happen again in the future.

This is hard to deal with as you might have to track movals to certain boards too. I think topics deleted end up in the "trashcan" or the void (just dropped from the database). Whereas if some posts are removed and aren't tracked to places like archival it could also cause a similar issue.

On the other side I hope you're not trying to make posts just to reach your payment minimums because that'll dilute actual discussion quite a bit imo...
4107  Economy / Speculation / Re: Collective Intelligence Effects on Bitcoin Price Value Predictions on: June 15, 2020, 12:15:02 AM
add: I dont know if similar ideas have been around before. If yes, would be nice to know more about it.
There were many of this already that's been used as a topic on Speculation[1]. Most likely, this is just another thread of it so no need for further discussions about it and lock the thread.

[1] https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=57.0

Browse on the topics there and you'll see different opinions and price predictions for bitcoin.

There aren't any polls on the latest page and sentiment can change. Opinions are less significant when written than compared with a poll...

There might have been an end of 2020 one already but that wasn't before the price was this high.

It seems we should close the year optimistic imo too, we might see a small slump in summer and autumn and then a stabalise at 10-20k in the winter is what I'm thinking if the bull run waits until next year.
4108  Other / Meta / Re: notification for indirect post deletion? on: June 14, 2020, 11:53:14 PM
I know that there is no feature in the forum that lets you know when a post of yours is deleted along with the thread. is there or has anyone created a script or a bot that automatically notifies you when your post is indirectly deleted?

I think piggy and loyce were hosting telegram bots for this you could ask them if it's possible to trace the modlog for this (looks like it's "topic removed" followed by the topic number so I'm not sure how they'd go about it without using a lot of resources though for long threads - unless they limit the number of replies for the thread - this'd require somekind of archive of {topic number: uids}).
4109  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Anonymous Bitcoins on: June 14, 2020, 10:27:01 PM
It looks to still be active based on their thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5052876.100
They also have a pretty good trust summary.

If you need another mixer to join the chain you could try ChipMixer, it's fee free (other than transaction fees) for increments of 0.001 but ajy remainder beyond 0.001 is donated to the mixer (so 0.0045 would yield 0.004)..
4110  Economy / Speculation / Re: Amazon has a gap to fill with their pe ratio on: June 14, 2020, 09:27:57 PM
Airliners and aerospace supply look fundamentally weak. Cruise lines too, I don't see a robust recovery there for some years, at least as long as the pandemic persists.

When the data shows retail investors are piling into these questionable sectors at the same time Warren Buffett is exiting, you have to wonder: is retail buying Wall Street's bags?

Why Is Warren Buffett Selling So Many Stocks?

I'd rather say if they continue to call it a pandemic. There's too little death cases to be calling it a real pandemic and to justify the destruction of tourism and transport.

What is your rationale for that? My understanding is pandemics are defined by their pervasiveness, not their deadliness. As far as deaths go, COVID-19 is now surpassing yearly estimates for deaths from influenza epidemics. The differences here are that this disease is far more contagious, and the seasonal flu is limited to the winter months while COVID-19 infections continues to rise into the summer:

Does it mean that ilnesses that linger for a long time without a large number of deaths are all pandemics? In that case HIV would be a poandemic.

Quote

I also think the number of deaths is drastically under counted. We know the Chinese numbers are outright bullshit. Add on a zero or 2 to everything their government allows to be published. In the US, overall death rates have dramatically risen but deaths are only being attributed to the corona virus with a conclusive test, and bodies aren't being tested unless a patient was previously hospitalized. There are many other examples. In Nicaragua the government claims there have only been a handful of deaths, and yet:

It also could be the other way round if the info about how the victims are counted is true. I'm talking about people who died with COVID19 in their bloodstream. In most countries they were counted as COVID19 victims and nobody bothered to determine the real cause of death. Many hospitals isolate patients with covid19 and if they die for any reasons the bodies are cremated right away.

I'm not saying you are not right about the number of deaths but you could be wrong and the real numbers could be much lower.

Death certificates in the UK NORMALLY list ALL REASOBALE contributing factors. Listing someone as dying from coronavirus isn't too helpful as a figure on its own really, if you overlay it with last years data or a mean average of a few years then you'll see the difference though.

I looked at the first few weeks in the UK and deaths were up by about 4000 on the week, I'd estimate about 20-50% of deaths INSIDE HOSPITALS could be people destined to die on that week to start with, the rest are new infectants potentially lost a while before their time...

Your government probably releases raw data on the number of deaths, don't look at the covid ones just look at the difference between this year and last and see how much the numbers have changed (or look at the increase).

Governments have to list all estates and value them for how much inheritance tax they can get, they're not going to. Miss a trick on thst at this time...
4111  Other / Archival / Re: Open an International Bank account for me!! on: June 14, 2020, 03:18:18 PM
Are you trying to use someone else's ID or your own to open it? And are you just looking for us citizens? Neither of these points seem to have been made clear...
4112  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why is my purchased amount not matching my Available balance? on: June 14, 2020, 03:09:21 AM
Which country are you paying from and what account type too, was it a debit card or bank transfer or something?

Waiting weeks for a response is new for me, I'd worry if I don't receive one after 5 minutes normally. I think if the balance is way off you should also send an email from the email address you registered with and ask them why your balance is way off...
4113  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: India considers another widespread ban on Bitcoin on: June 13, 2020, 07:48:13 PM

No, they keep proposing to ban it and unban it! Seems like some people have found an easy way to look like they are doing their job and are truly overworked. They try again and again the same stuff, they publish the same reports, I wonder if they aren't using text spinners for these.  Grin

China, Russia, and India, the modern newton's cradle of conserving BS with increased sounds effect whenever one of the balls idiots in parliament is hit in the head with a not so great idea.

In brief:
 - Some reports say the Indian government is looking to enact a blanket ban on cryptocurrencies.
 - A new bill in India proposes up to ten years in prison or up to $ 3.3 million for using the cryptocurrency.

Some help with someone with knowledge about India would be nice as I'm a bit confused.

The bill as I understand from the wiki article on India's lawmaking must be passed by both houses of parliament and approved by the president, this is not something the government can decide, right? Do they have an overall majority and are all the members of the ruling party in for this bill? I kind' a doubt it!

Also, 3.3 million $? Are all punishements in India this ridiculous disproportionate?

Oh so legislation either way is yet to be passed at all, sounds about right tbh.

And I thought the idea of the 3.3 million was just so wealthy people weren't disrupted if they get a smaller fine. I'm pretty sure someone from the "West" got away with murder in Kenya by paying a fine of $1500 after being found guilty... Probably the same would apply to something like this in India too, if the state gets a cut who cares what happens overall...

4114  Economy / Economics / Re: If you have agricultural land would you sell it or hold it ? on: June 13, 2020, 04:30:47 PM
HOLD!

If you can hold it for 2+ years then it should do pretty well. If other industries fail then you still have something for yourself providing you have the money to use it (if that's your intention).

Now probably isn't a good time to sell and it'll probably be best to sell when the markets are back to being booming and have been for a while...
4115  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: India considers another widespread ban on Bitcoin on: June 13, 2020, 03:12:06 PM
Do they keep u banning and banning it? This seems to be what I'm getting from everything that's been going on unless it's the courts that keep ruling against a ban but if that's the case it was clearly not blanket to start with.

Does India have the money or the resources to police something like this too, I can't work out how effective their government are at dealing with legislation and enforcement...
4116  Economy / Economics / Re: What can you buy with 0.01 cents (1 penny) ? on: June 12, 2020, 07:17:15 PM
Just a penny alone? Here I doubt you could buy anything without negotiation. If you find something cheap in a supermarket that's about to go out of date you might be able to ask but then that comes down more to how you convey yourself. You can certainly by fractions of liquid quantities if served or save the penny in a stock or something Grin.

Pennies and cents are a "carry forward" of the years gone by where you could buy sweets, a lolly or biscuits for a penny. You can buy much more with a relationship (even one built over the course of 30 seconds, than you can with a penny in one of these countries imo).

Edit: I just remembered buying a cd for a penny from a marketplace (obviously paying £2 for delivery) but it WAS a penny in raw form and I could've collected and just paid the penny.
4117  Economy / Speculation / Re: TA indicates a sharp drop soon on: June 12, 2020, 04:00:48 AM
I don't claim to be right all the time, but i tried to warn y'all!  Grin

It's now hovering around the $9300 range but i suspect we will see more pain soon with a zig zag pattern downwards. It also fits in with a popular Elliott Wave theory that bitcoin is entering the final phase (Wave E). So after the final dump down to whatever price - it will rise up to ATH.

I think we might get trolled back to 9.5-9.8k soon instead... Could be completely wrong but it's something to consider, I've been thinking we need to break 10k once more before we go back down and drop from there just to completely kill all the hope...

Unfortunately, the price has dropped too deep because now the price is at $9,300. I wonder if, in the next week, the price can start increase to the last high price, but if the price can not increase, hm that will be a long time to wait for the price back to the higher price. Maybe right now, many people shocked to see the bitcoin price has down deeper than what they expect, but some of them already prepared for the worst thing like this moment. The situations now give an effect to the other coins, which is followed to get down, so we need to be careful.

I don't think 8% for a drop is very major with bitcoin, most investors probably expect it by now...

Yeah click the move button on the bottom left and move it to meta, the admins and mods are there who can decide if you need a name change or not...

Standard users won't be able to help on this because we don't know what the admins are after.
4119  Economy / Economics / Re: FATF meeting about crypto on: June 11, 2020, 09:45:40 PM
Can we name an exchange that hasn't been hacked?

How is this information with exchanges not going to interfere with gdpr in Europe? This is actually quite a problem as the fatf will do this for people with more than $1000 in balance at once (based on current guidance) meaning the large exchanges might see people turning away from their services in favour of local vendors who can transfer smaller amounts...

4120  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Quick unlock proposal on: June 11, 2020, 09:09:19 PM
You don't get the idea. It should be possible only once. If after the attempt the last 3 characters of your password are wrong, the master key is wiped from the memory and you have to retype the whole password again.

Mobile wallets vulnerabilities lies in the seed generation, not in wallet interface.

It doesn't make any difference if you use a 40 digit password with special characters and facial recognition + PIN if a hacker knows your seed and can empty your wallet at any time just by inserting the seed in his computer.

True, although doing a function through the password in addition to other methods like OS crypto provider, date and time, uptime, battery state, signal strength, messages, phone calls etc. could improve security.

I'm not an expert in cryptography in any way - sorry if I'm wrong.

Biometrics alone are not a recommended authentication and probably won't even be used in the encryption process.

The accelerometer and other information can be used to get a random number (potentially more so than a computer as you have GPS capabilities expected and a more accurate clock on the phone imo).

I haven't seen a wallet for mobile that uses facial recognition and if you're on android especially, a key is encrypted with your main phones pin/password so as long as that turns off fast enough or you remember to turn it off whenever in a critical situation then you have 2 forms of encryption to crack (my pin is 18 digits for example which isn't too long but it'll take some time to crack).
