4102  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin price rise affect your gameplay? on: October 31, 2020, 12:35:20 PM
The rise in price of bitcoin does not affect the gameplay since that remains the same but it does affect the other things.
The withdrawal fees get increases since bitcoin's price increases the network congestion. The high withdrawal fees takes up a portion of our profits.
Another thing that bothers me is the amount is deposited in  dollars in the gambling site I play in.
So now even if the amount of profits are good, the amount of satoshis I would receive is less.
4103  Economy / Gambling / Re: Roobet.com | Crypto’s Fastest Growing Casino 🦘 on: October 30, 2020, 05:10:02 PM
Ow, just seen it upon checking. I'm surprised about that.
It's currently at $6.98 for BTC, and for ETH, $1.26... this is quite high compared from the past.
I wonder what happened why Roobet increased the withdrawal fee, are these fees are fixed this time?

Did the spike on mempool's size caused this spike on withdrawal fees on Roobet too?
I hope it will become much lower, $7 for me is much for small withdrawal inputs.
Yes indeed. The withdrawal fee has increased because the network is congested as of now and people are paying more than the standard transaction fees to get their transactions confirmed.
Even I went for a withdrawal today and noticed that the withdrawal fees is $7. I just closed the tab on my PC seeing the withdrawal fees  Grin
It's obvious, I can't pay a fee of $7 to withdraw $57 right. We will just have to wait until the network is less congested and the fees comes back to normal.
4104  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Gambling could be used to pay for covid problems on: October 30, 2020, 04:17:20 PM
Regulation in gambling can turn out to give positive results in three ways.

1. It can reduce the amount of black money being used for gambling.

If gambling is regulated people won't be able to use their black money for gambling since the government will keep track of income source of the money being gambled.
Hence this will reduce the black money usage for gambling. This also has a negative impact that there are many people who use black money for gambling.
So if gambling is regulated then there will be less number of people gambling and this will reduce the profits for gambling site owners.

2. It will yield more tax returns for the government.

I consider this as a good thing because gambling site owners would definitely get good profits from their site.
They shouldn't mind paying some of their profits as tax to the government. Paying taxes help to make our country's economic growth more stronger.

3. It will reduce the amount of scams in the name of gambling.

Regulation in gambling means that the government will be involved in it and the amount of scams in the name of gambling will reduce drastically since the regulatory bodies will be able to keep a track of gambling sites and may be ban those which are unauthorized. This will make the scam sites tough to survive and then they will have to wind up their business.
4105  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Something still has to be done about transaction fees! on: October 29, 2020, 04:35:10 PM
Here we go again. Bitcoin is on the rise, and even though it's up about 30% from the usual price of the recent times, the transaction fees are up 10 times. I've just sent 0.01 BTC, and the suggestion for a regular fee was $12! The priority was a couple of dollars more, and I went for it. There hasn't been such a spike since the 2017-2018 craze, but now enormous fees are apparently back, and they remind that we need a solution to the scalability issue. The LN is not inspiring, but nothing better is coming up. I think that such fees are a huge obstacle to Bitcoin adoption as money and should be considered a top priority. What do you think about the fees and the perspectives?
Completely agree with you on this. I just made an online purchase through bitcoin a few days before for price of $21 and the optimum fees displayed was about $4.
I just adjusted the fees to $0.57 and broadcasted it and since then my transaction is unconfirmed till date.
Now I am worried that my order doesn't get cancelled.  Undecided
The higher transaction fees has really become an issue and we must soon try to find a solution for the scalability issue.
4106  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If bitcoin reach $20k fee will be huge? on: October 29, 2020, 04:29:00 PM
Lets assume bitcoin has reached $20k. Since bitcoin showed a good bull run many people started buying it more.
This means more number of transactions are being broadcasted in the bitcoin blockchain. Hence the mempool size gets increased the network becomes congested.
Since people want their transactions to be confirmed soon they start paying higher transaction fees and this leads to increase in the price of transaction fees.
The transaction fees will only decrease when the mempool size decreases and the network is not congested.
So eventually yes the transaction fees will increase but as time goes it will come back to the normal price as the sudden surge decreases.
4107  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Coinbase sponsors two Bitcoin developers! on: October 29, 2020, 04:43:09 AM
@pawanjain Before posting crap read carefully as I have never said that we don't need developers.
I didn't mean to offend you in any way bud but you had clearly said in your post that "We do not need more devs, we need more nodes."
This is what I wanted to point out that we need both of them to make the network stronger.
Everyone have their own perspective and I just gave my opinion on making the bitcoin network stronger.

I think I got your point but I fail to see how that is connected with what I wanted to point out: actually do you know what? More than developers now we need people to fight into the real world where bitcoin battles every day. We do not need more devs, we need more nodes.
The network must be able to rapidly broadcast blocks to all nodes, right? Let's sponsor them, not developers
4108  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Just a Question... on: October 28, 2020, 02:19:51 PM
Many of the telegram channels related to crypto are full of scammers and genuine gambling sites won't want their customers to be scammed in the name of gambling.
May be that's why they prefer discord and other platforms which provide a better user experience.
Besides that I have seen many gamers actually using discord rather than any other chatting platforms.
So discord is like a gamer's hub for chatting  Tongue

Good news! I really believe that the big prizes are there to win them, and when they happen the classic "they told me"  in this one it is good to be and know where the events happen, but above all that they are real and even better that a user of the community was involved.(300x)

Perhaps a special factor associated with the (congratulations) 600 million bets.

In games and rounds I have seen factors of:
Danslip for 2200.00x and Harkorede for x1625.22 (you have several of + 1000x)

Crash is hot I just saw one of 4686...

Source: https://roobet.com/crash
Yes this is true. @Danslip and @Harkorede have indeed won such high multipliers and besides that they are regular players for the crash game on Roobet.
Even I play this game regularly and have been in the bets where the multiplier crosses 1k but I don't hold it up that long and cash out quickly  Grin
Roobet does pay out these multipliers without any doubt and you guys should see the crash competition organized by Hhampuz through roobet.
Danslip and Harkorede had the highest multipliers in that.

4111  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin price now and something interesting on: October 28, 2020, 11:35:58 AM
Technically speaking bitcoin is just trying to break the resistance at $13000 which is why the orders are getting executed so fast.
Bitcoin did go to $13300 but couldn't hold it further. If bitcoin stays at $13000 then chances are either it will drop down to $12500 - $12000 and stay there for a while or bitcoin will create a new support at $13000. The experts said that the probability for bitcoin to go in a cooling period and  shake off the weak hands is high.

The $13k resistance has been broken several times already, and it move to $13,600. And if the price remains there, there is a chance that $14k is possible November, and then we might end up at $15k++ in December. Period of accumulation is still there, not the same when the price is $10k. But if you see that the price can go on another bull run next year to $20k-$40k, then still at this current price, still cheap and investors are willing to accumulate.
Yes it did broke $13k already but it was unable to hold it previously and kept falling below $13k.
Things have changed now as bitcoin is above $13k for so many days already. The new support has been created and the resistance at $14k is now being tested by bitcoin.
True that the accumulation levels are high as there is so much of positive news regarding bitcoin in the market.
Chances are there that bitcoin is heading for $20k and might create a new ATH in a few months.
But I think that it would be very tough for bitcoin to break the $20k resistance level as there are many people waiting for bitcoin to reach that price so that they can dump their holdings from the 2017 crash. Anyway, it will be interesting to see how bitcoin performs over the next few months.
4112  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Coinbase sponsors two Bitcoin developers! on: October 28, 2020, 11:20:56 AM
I don't like to get this into politics however ETFbitcoin correctly said this is happening because bitcoiners, especially old ones, are conservative which in my humble opinion is good

Honestly it depends on your ideology. For example, i wouldn't say conservative on Bitcoin is 100% good.

You see it's not about any ideology: the way it is now bitcoin works amazingly well. It does what it says since 11 years which is quite a great accomplishment having had to fight 24/7 from January 3rd 2009. I believe it is a robust protocol developed by some of the best minds on Earth.
Taking a conservative approach allowed the protocol and the network to grow in strength and resilience.
Whatever the word conservative means in all this I actually do not care so long as bitcoin works like this.
To conclude, I truly hope this move of sponsoring bitcoin devs it is what it is, only support nothing else.

If the Core developers believed that it was better to experiment with "features", then I believe Bitcoin would have already forked before the Bitcoin Cash scam.
I think I got your point but I fail to see how that is connected with what I wanted to point out: actually do you know what? More than developers now we need people to fight into the real world where bitcoin battles every day. We do not need more devs, we need more nodes.

You don't need developers ?

If it weren't for the developers then bitcoin would not have been where it is today.
Even today the source code for bitcoin core has so many things to be improvised that the developers themselves want more developers to start contributing towards the bitcoin core source code.
Not every developer thinks in the same way and that's why many developers are needed so that together with their creative minds they can improvise the source code so much that bitcoin can be scalable in future.

I agree that many nodes are also needed as it will make the network stronger but that doesn't mean we don't need the developers anymore bud.
Both are needed as they both are important for the bitcoin network.
4113  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Coinbase sponsors two Bitcoin developers! on: October 27, 2020, 02:38:48 PM

Wow this sounds amazing. Contributing to bitcoin core itself is like a privilege and getting funded for it is like a bonus.
I feel happy for those developers as they are getting what they deserve for their efforts and time contributing towards bitcoin core.
I have also started walking on the path towards becoming a bitcoin core developer.
I have not started building any code yet since I am making my base strong by understanding the technicals of bitcoin.
I hope some day I will be able to give my contribution for the bitcoin community.

Start a blog in Medium, and please share your progress/development as a Bitcoin developer. It might inspire ordinary, non-technical people like me. Hahaha.

You can also get yourself added in this list, and accept donation from the community, https://bitcoindevlist.com
That's a good idea. I will soon start writing blogs on medium and share my progress towards bitcoin development.
This won't be a good time to add myself for a donation since I believe I haven't done much yet for the community.
I will let people recognize myself a bit and then in future I might add myself up on the list.
Till then let the other developers get paid for their efforts  Smiley
4114  Local / India / Re: Ethereum Investment Schemes are again active in India on: October 26, 2020, 04:28:48 PM
Very much such schemes need to be avoided else it would not be sooner where this investor will realize that they have being scammed and this they have lost their money. Also, since you know this location so if possible, along with your friend just go and check out and try to understand the whole process of how much they are asking for investment, how many people have already joined and so on. This will just give us an idea of people ignorance.
Hello @ pakhitheboss
@reliable is pretty much right. Since this is happening in your locality, you should definitely go to that shop and try to enquire about what they are acutally doing.
If the process looks fishy then they are probably trying to scam people and we should make people aware by social media and other platforms.

Just go to that shop and ask what the whole process is. If it is an MLM scheme then what is their source of income if they are getting returns to their users, what's the guarantee of the returns.
Check if they are a registered company. Ask them since when they are doing this and the proof of their customers getting good returns and what/why does it have to do with Ethereum.

I would have done the same if it were happening at my place  Grin

4116  Economy / Exchanges / Re: All Exchangers scamming now on: October 26, 2020, 04:12:05 PM
How come you are losing money because of the bots ?
If you had prepared your strategy well then you should know what you should be doing. Bots are just small programs that are controlled by other traders.
You can't blame an exchange for it unless the exchange itself is running away with your money.
If that's the case then you just deposited your money in a wrong exchange.
Not every exchange scams their users. Some care for their users and are well reputed in the community.
4117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I don't know what to put in title on: October 26, 2020, 04:05:43 PM
Story is as follows:

I wanted to invest little amount of ether.

Came across few projects, shortlisted two, dmst and padthai finance ("defi craze")

For some stupid reason I decided to go with padthai finance which exit scammed shortly after. I don't care about investment there because it was miniscule amount of ether (0.2)

Regret is, Dmst was at $0.0006 at that time and today it's trading at 3 cents, that's 50x. My 0.2 eth would be 10 eth!!!

I went to the project which had anonymous dev (I had enough of them actually but I blinded myself with greed), or at least I should of put some in both of them, so my regret wouldn't have been this big...

I'm really pissed on myself
I totally understand what you must be feeling right now but you have done what you wanted to do at that time and there's nothing you can do about it now.
Whatever we do should be taken as an experience and we must learn from it and improvise.
At least now you know that you could have got a better result if you would have invested a little amount in both the projects.
Sometimes it's not about choosing the right project but choosing the right strategy.

If you are unable to withdraw your coins from that site that means your coins are pretty much gone.
You can still try to contact their support team but if the site is trying to scam it's users then you won't find any help from their support team either.
You can try raising scam accusation against them for your sake but the thing about cryptocurrencies is that once they are gone from your wallet then you should consider them as gone.
The probability of recovering them is damn low.

Great news from Coinbase that will sposnsor two Bitcoin core developers with first Crypto Community Fund grants.
Bitcoin started as open source without any initial funds and it is amazing that it survived and thrived for so many years, but new developers and projects are always good to have.

Example projects they will be supporting:
Quote
- Direct contributions to Bitcoin Core (e.g., improving testing, fuzzing, bug fixes, improvements)
- Significant code and/or Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP) review
- Contributor tooling (e.g., bitcoinacks.com, which is open source)
- Bitcoin Core libraries and tools (e.g., libsecp256k1)
- Improvement to testing (e.g., fuzz testing, functional tests)

If you are Bitcoin Core developer you can apply or suggest someone HERE

Good move from Coinbase and I expect other crypto related companies to follow their example, and we want to see more interesting development around Bitcoin.

Wow this sounds amazing. Contributing to bitcoin core itself is like a privilege and getting funded for it is like a bonus.

keep it up but know that you don't need deep understanding of the bitcoin technology to make good contribution to the open source community. for example a simple bug report is also a great contribution because it helps developers improve their code.

Yeah I know that a simple bug report or a simple code change would also be considered as a contribution but I am planning on to dive deep into bitcoin core.
This is why I thought of getting the basics well before I my contribution.
