4101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Look before taking a leap on: June 23, 2020, 02:03:52 PM
Copycating over and over...
This is probably the result of a project where it has been successful and now other developers are copying it and you cannot stop the developers who copy it because they want that kind of success too and they would try to get the market share of the original one.

I kind of view this with the different cryptocurrencies. If Bitcoin wasn't created, there wouldn't be altcoins in the world. Altcoins were created to replace Bitcoin but it still is the strongest just because it's the first.

It's continuously going to happen if there are innovations around us, that's just how humans do it, I guess.
4102  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: John Cantrell revealed how he successfully hacked bitcoin wallet on: June 22, 2020, 09:19:37 AM
I think if you have the machine to do what it takes to input all of the possible phrase words included in one wallet, it's possible. It just takes processing power and time for sure. I don't know if that article is just to "add" into the list of Cointelegraph's list of articles, but the title makes it seem that Bitcoin could be hacked, and it reflects negatively to new users IMO. We all know that most people base their opinions on just the title itself. It happens here in the forum as well, lol.
4103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: JPMorgan Says Bitcoin Crash Survival Shows It Has Staying Power on: June 22, 2020, 03:03:17 AM
It's a great thing for us. For Bitcoin supporters, as more people will invest and more usage of any type of cryptocurrency, it will be accepted more by people. It's not as they see it where it's being used for scams or something like that. If there are more big companies who would support it, it is for the better overall. It's no surprise for me to see people HODL-ing. That's probably why there are less means of exchange because many people want the price to go even higher.
4104  Other / Meta / Re: Meriting: local boards posters vs rest of boards posters on: June 21, 2020, 12:11:42 PM
I do think some members have an advantage when there are a lot of local merit sources that could give actual merit to the posters. I think there's no problem with that if it goes to the write people and the post is meritable. I think there are fair merit sources everywhere.

There are still merit givers in those boards, not just as much compared to the local ones. We could see the fact that most of the new posts on the boards that you mentioned are somewhat already been discussed over and over again.
4105  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Vietnam bursts an illegal casino who used to handle bets worth $3 billions on: June 21, 2020, 07:06:56 AM
No problem bro, it was just a (very funny) joke.  Cheesy
BTW do you know, or someone else, urls of casinos in the deep web ?
In my country we must report to the tax authorities every single account able to receive cryptos we open.  Sad
No worries. It's an "okay" joke. Lol

I don't know, I'm not particularly participating in deep web stuff, especially relating to gambling. Anyways, the tax in your country might be hard to track in terms of how many holdings you have, etc? Isn't it? Or it's voluntary as well when it comes to that?
4106  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 20-Year-Old Robinhood Customer Dies By Suicide After Seeing A $730,000 Negative on: June 21, 2020, 06:29:45 AM
I don't think the customer is dumb enough about trading that he gets assigned that type of account? Maybe something happened behind the scenes that were not published in any news article out there. Think about it, how would someone, a big corporation or a trading firm, trust a 20-year-old with that kind of money? For sure, he has some other issues that might affect his reasoning and thinking that it's the only way out.

That's what people should learn is to be calm with what happens, thinking clearly would've been better. If he wasn't that reliable on the app itself, he might notice that there's something wrong with the interface, but it seems that layer and layer of problems may have clouded his judgment overall.

What I could see with this is that Robinhood is going to improve more based on this and would not let it happen again within their platform or something. Disclaimers are for sure there, but it still lacks in terms of awareness with the risk, maybe.
4107  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Futures trading on: June 21, 2020, 05:59:26 AM
It's an excellent motivation to have that kind of "risking" mentality but make sure that you are going to work it out, win or lose on that trading.

Futures is going to be challenging at first, especially if you are just learning it right now. It's best to know some key terms before dwelling with futures trading.
  • Know what the units of measurement of the contracts (is it in USD, BTC, etc.)
  • Minimum quantity of contracts
  • Leverage
  • Risk Management
  • Automatic trading

These apply to different exchanges as well. It's best to try a virtual trading account / fake account with fake money to test your strategy and if it will work in the long run.

Personally I have been using BitMEX and Binance Futures. They are both reliable. I prefer Binance futures because I earn USDT instead of BTC. Depending on how much risk you have, choose wisely.

I had a poor experience with OKEx because it seems that they force close your position at a particular time (which shouldn't be the case). I'm not sure if it's fixed anymore, but I stayed away from it because of that. Spot markets there are okay, but futures I think are not yet reliable.
4108  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Price Map on: June 20, 2020, 09:22:54 AM
When I click a certain place, it says [Advertising]

It may be a way to advertise different exchanges in a specific country. I'm not sure. Maybe they can put P2P exchanges, LocalBitcoins, or something related to that. It's a great way to visualize how many people in the world is trading Bitcoin. Not bad. Thanks for sharing OP.

I hope everything follows with the exchange rate in Nigeria with $10628 right now, lol.
4109  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin trading in India is on fire on: June 19, 2020, 01:42:50 AM
This is an excellent gain for Bitcoin itself because India has one of the largest populations in the world, and legalizing Bitcoin means other countries could follow as well. They are also one of the major economic forces in the world. Additionally, there's a technological advancements there that they could offer, possibly addition to the security or more inventions that could benefit the cryptocurrency community. This, for sure, is an advantage, and hopefully, others will follow as well.
4110  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: A thought regarding sig camp applications on: June 18, 2020, 01:31:49 PM
I'm sure that we all can agree with how helpful BPIP is with anything Bitcointalk Member related. All of the related stats that a manager could see right out of the page is undoubtedly helpful. Maybe when a signature campaign manager sees this topic, they can incorporate it right away.

I think what could happen as well is that they move away from it due to the information that they could gather. It could make them feel like it's going to make their work even more complicated to what it is now.
4111  Economy / Economics / Re: Very strange most people like to buy with bitcoin , but using altcoins very few on: June 18, 2020, 08:40:58 AM
It's quite easy to answer your question because of the availability and acceptance is quite low in terms of altcoins. It's definitely less compared to Bitcoin, which is the crypto that is most often applied and being accepted in many countries. It's not entirely mainstream yet, but it's possible to pay Bitcoin for necessities, and that's the advantage of that. Unless you have a custodial wallet that could act as a payment provider towards the seller and that custodial wallet accepts altcoin, and that's it.

Cryptocurrencies are complicated in a way, for non-tech-savvy people, and it serves as a hindrance to accepting cryptocurrencies, don't forget about altcoins as well, the transactions could even be more complicated.
4112  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies Try Showing Appreciative Replies. on: June 18, 2020, 06:55:04 AM
I noticed it as well, most topic creators just abandon it every after their problem is solved. Usually, I report it to the moderator to close the thread in order to prevent spam replies that are answered already. Thanks for pointing it out too.

Also is it possible for you to not capitalise the first letter of every word, it gives me an odd feeling.
It's kind of annoying but it's not qualified to be annoying? I remember a setting when creating an article and you put a textbox and you could set a format setting where you could input it to all caps, just capital letters, etc. It seems that it's more tiring to press shift every word too.

4113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Top 5 most profitable coins of this year on: June 18, 2020, 12:38:44 AM
The reason why most crypto investors are not into altcoins anymore because of the possibility of an easy dump by the developers, investors don't like that. It's most likely that someone can dump it right away when you are just buying, or they are just waiting for buyers then sell. Personally, I don't believe in it anymore due to the fact that it's luck as well when you try to invest in one. It's hard for me. I would prefer to trade it against USDT and make a profit in USDT continuously.

For the coins that you showed, only these two are the ones I'm familiar with:
  • OKB
  • TEZOS

But I haven't invested in them, or I don't think I will at this point.
4114  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A trading chart does not play out to 100% on: June 17, 2020, 09:07:03 AM
Trading is one of those things that you need luck, to begin with. Most of the time, depending on your strategy, you could either win or lose on a trade. So that's the reason why there is "Backtesting" involved. If it played out in the past, you could possibly do the same thing, but it's still not a full-fledged outcome where your winning percent is the same. I think you could check it in the long run too.

No matter how much you are good at charting, it still boils down to the point where you cannot accurately predict the possible price trend, just like human behaviors.
4115  Economy / Economics / Re: What is the cause of economy rise and fall. on: June 17, 2020, 03:40:18 AM
I don't believe in the economy being Constant. There's no such thing, especially in the category ECONOMY , which has a lot of factors that are directly correlated to people and their behaviors. Imagine that there are a lot of people who don't spend their money, it's already a factor. No circulation of money anymore would happen, and it could make the economy fall. This then correlates to the population of the country. Additionally, there are foreigners as well to consider. It can get more and more complicated when adding additional parameters.

One thing is for sure is that the government has significant control over what happens in a country's economy, and what the government does will affect it, whether it rises or falls. It's too complicated, IMO.
4116  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casinos Decoded : on: June 17, 2020, 02:48:09 AM
Maybe you should at least try playing at the physical casinos to somehow prove what the OP and I had been mentioning.
I never said I haven't been to a land-based casino, it's just that I don't prefer them just because of the number of people there and the smoking that happens there as well. It's not healthy and not good personally. Maybe I'm a little sensitive to that but I'm not comfortable with that.

And no, 1% isn't luck after hours of playing. Yes, you would feel satisfaction that some jobs cannot give you, yet everything you have in gambling were just permanent that even doesn't last for weeks.
I'm quite confused about what you said. You said "permanent" and doesn't even last for weeks. What are you pertaining to, anyway?

Also, if you are a gambler or wanted to be one, emotional control must already been taken care of before entering such activities, so as the risks. Overall, you're right - that people keeps losing and losing. That's why I've hated playing in physical casinos from time to time as well.
There's no big difference when it comes to the games and risks included in a physical casino or online. It's the person's characteristic of how they will handle it, both should have the emotional control or there will be consequences that result in loss of money.
4117  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a Bad Safe Haven Asset on: June 17, 2020, 01:28:06 AM
Saying all that, you can say that it's wrong just because of the volatility. Maybe people are looking for something a more stable thing like gold, but you cannot correlate it to that because it's a different thing, and people have different views on it. Anyways, it could be dependent as well with the perspective of a person because they believe in that kind of investment. Think about it.

Your terms of safe haven are
  • Low Volatility | Definitely not in cryptomarkets
  • The market surges, the value must increase | Happens in cryptomarkets

With your ending statement

Although in the current crisis, the trading volume of crypto assets is increasing, it merely compensates for the value of other declining assets, such as stocks,
You were unclear on what you are trying to say, and it seems like you are for Bitcoin is a safe haven because of the trading volume it produces. So what are you talking about?
4118  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help in offering computer help services on: June 16, 2020, 03:19:02 PM
So you are offering software services? Anything that could be done remotely? Is that your whole gig? I think it's not a bad idea, but most software-related things can be researched/googled now. So what's your edge against that?

You do know that the person could see what you are doing on the PC, right? If you were to do something, they could see it right away.

You could also use AnyDesk for your remote connection needs.

For the thread here in the forum, you could follow what jossiel mentioned, the service board could be a good start.
4119  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Vietnam bursts an illegal casino who used to handle bets worth $3 billions on: June 16, 2020, 12:59:23 PM
What kind of games are you talking about? Can you be more specific?
For example maybe it's forbidden to bet on cockfighting, but in illegal casinos you can watch fights, or they have it on TV and people watch and bet. Same like with dog fights and races, or any other kind or racing or fighting (maybe we can include here people fight to death, or I went too far?)... games that are forbidden by law, but people still do it! It's cruel but it exists.
You know illegal casinos where you can bet on people fighting to death?   Shocked
Where have you seen that please?
Are you interested in that "Saint"-loup? See what I did there? Lol

Anyways, I only have seen kind of things in movies, not in real life. I bet it's the same where the richest group of people who pay people just to fight. Isn't fighting sports something like that? It's not like up to the death thing but it's close. Maybe there are parts of it in the deep web.
Thank you but I was talking to iv4n. And I don't think it's your alt account since you replied to him...  Grin Cheesy Cheesy
Being part of the quoted post makes you part of the conversation as well. Better yet, you could specifically put "iv4n" on that question. You should've just deleted my quote on there and prevent this confusion. Shocked
