Sri Lanka needs to somehow find good players when they are playing against India. I recently heard about the comments made by the former Sri Lankan captain but i find it funny because the Sri Lanka batsman are struggling to score runs in the past few series and India sent a full team to England to play the Test series and one team for the ODI and i am expecting India could challenge anyone even with their second string team.
Ranatunga is saying that the BCCI has insulted Sri Lanka by sending a "second string" side. But now another question arises. In case Sri Lanka is unable to secure even a single win against this "second string" side, then what should be interpreted out of this? I think Ranatunga is frustrated because he hasn't got a good job at the moment. The media covered his statements and that might have given him some satisfaction. On the part of BCCI, I think that they did the right decision. Players like Kohli and Rohit are not required for a series against Sri Lanka. Hahaha. As the Sri Lankan players are doing now, I am quite confident that they will lose the series against India's second-string team. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't win a single match. India's second-tier team is much better and more experienced than the Sri Lankan national team. I don't think anything but the victory of Argentina. Moreover, Ecuador is not a strong team. Ecuador could not win any match in the Group stage. Denmark managed to beat the Czech with a score of 1-2 and led them to the semifinals which would later bring together England or Ukraine. Congratulation to everyone who believe that Denmark will qualify for the semifinals. I feel Denmark's effort so far has been good enough to stay at least in the semifinals. If England become their opponent, then it is unlikely to see him in the final. England are pretty good though not scoring enough goals. Looks like we can already see who will reach the final.

What a match! I was very disappointed when Spain could not score a goal even in 90 + 30 minutes. Spain's young players have played great. They controlled the whole match. Test playing teams should be divided into two groups. The first group will have first-tier teams like India, New Zealand, and England. And in the second group, will play a team like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan. And no Test match will be played between any team in Group A or any team in Group B. Two divisions are needed, because the gap between the pig 3 sides and smaller nations such as Sri Lanka are increasing. I would rather prefer three divisions of test cricket. It will be as follows: Division 1: India, Australia, New Zealand, England and Pakistan Division 2: South Africa, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and West Indies Division 3: Zimbabwe, Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland and Nepal. Ind-Pak are not going to play so they might end up playing with only SENA countries in this system. Guess we discussed this topic couple of times here, anyway IMO it would be better if they could divide teams into 2 group according to their ranking. As of now we have 12 tests playing nations. Group A : Top 1-6 ranking team Group B : Bottom 7-12 ranking team It is better to divide it into two groups. We don't have to watch unequal or one-sided series anymore. Many may say that small teams play against big teams to enhance their experience. I don't think so. Smaller teams lost by an innings in most matches against big teams. They are gaining experience but their performance is not improving. I am not interested in watching Test series of smaller countries with India, New Zealand England and Australia. |
