4121  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 open for sale again] The last round before the Chinese New Year on: February 16, 2014, 01:50:35 PM
But whats the problem then? Bitmain didnt block more than x miners per user. If someone was lucky to get hands on all miners in one go i say good job. Just because u wasnt that person that mean u have to cry and accused for not being supportive?
How would you comment all this if this one person who bough all miners was you?

I have to agree, I noticed several people complaining about not being able to by had multiple units in their cart, sure ir ead one person complain he did not get to buy the 6 miners in his cart..... pot kettle black.

i was hoping to buy 2-5 units .. yeah i frutrated and upset .

there was no opportunity to buy any ant units that was a myth ..

whatever.. price of bitcoin xcrewed us on our buy opportunity ..

i guess my ant farm isnt going to grow ..

maybe i can get some wasps are they due soon Huh

or something.. hope somebody has something in stock soon.

Patience is a virtue....

The Ants are only temporarily out of stock.
I too am bumped by the fact but I am willing to wait and hopefully get more Ants at a lower price.
4122  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is mining for a day at Full speed the same as mining for 2 days at half speed? on: February 16, 2014, 01:37:07 PM
So, if mining for a day @500GH the same as mining for 2 days @250GH? (in terms of profit).

No.

Because, a day have a variable block created ... even if this is planned for 10min.

In reality, it's vary a lot.

So which do you think is more beneficial?
4123  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is mining for a day at Full speed the same as mining for 2 days at half speed? on: February 16, 2014, 01:36:10 PM
As noted above the difficulty change would be the biggest factor.

I can only assume the reason to mine at 1/2 speed would be because of varying electric rates based on time.

Something like that, yeah Wink
4124  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: US goverment to start mining bitcoins! on: February 16, 2014, 12:21:14 PM
This is an interesting thread.

If this is true then there is only two possible outcomes:

A) The government takes over the network and crashes it.
B) The government takes over the network and controls it.

^^^^ BOTH VERY POSSIBLE ^^^^
4125  Other / Archival / Re: MOD - PLEASE DELETE on: February 16, 2014, 11:35:45 AM
OH I AM SO FUCKED

Can somebody sell me 1BTC @ the mtgoxrate + 5%?

No!

Have you tried getting a loan?

4126  Other / Archival / Re: MOD - PLEASE DELETE on: February 15, 2014, 10:55:10 PM
Oh God, why did you make me honest?

I could have been a scammer like this guy and made 127.9BTC in a couple of weeks.

Is there a "Scamming for Dummies" book?

4127  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement: Bitmain launches AntMiner solution, 0.68 J/GH on chip on: February 15, 2014, 07:19:37 PM
Did anybody manage to get some yesterday. I was out most of the day but every time i had a look still could not order.

I wonder if they will still be charging 1.45 BTC when they start selling again 1.45BTC on mtgox = £357:00

I think mtgox is pretty much dead from now on...

4128  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Ant miner s1 - connection timed out? on: February 15, 2014, 06:33:11 PM
thanks S4!

running advanced ip scanner, i found out that someone re-addressed the IP for my miner.
and apparently had their pool, username, and password in the settings.
which is a bit off putting since i bought this "new".
luckily for greater ninja, my memory is pretty bad and i didn't write down any of that info.

switched everything over to my router's default setting and i'm off and mining.
looks like my hash is pretty low (via slush's account info) , but it keeps jumping up every few minutes, so hopefully its just coming up to speed.
looking directly at the antminer gui, hashrates are great.

All miners come "pre-tested" Wink

It will take some time (not long) but your hashrates will get to normal.
It takes some time for the pool to determine your actual hashing speed.

Anyways, enjoy Smiley

if you paid by bank wire then cant you sort it out with the bank, get the bank to send them a letter?

Bank Transfers are final.

That's why scammers use it.

4130  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Ant miner s1 - connection timed out? on: February 15, 2014, 10:00:22 AM
Hello,
I've tried searching, but perhaps I'm the only one who missed something that obvious.

I've reconfigured my laptop to use the settings as my s1 (192.168.1.xxx) and can confirm that in ipconfig.
But when I try to bring up the specific s1 ip address, it takes a minute or so and says connection time out.

I've disabled wifi and blue tooth.
When I remove the Ethernet cable from laptop or s1, LAN verifies the missing connection.
When I had the laptop on the wrong sub domain (sub gate? The .1. In the IP), the browser didn't time out so I'm closer.

Any thoughts?
Thanks!

First make sure your laptop ipv4 settings are correct.

Use an ip address like 192.168.1.254
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1

Then connect to your miners IP that is written on the sticker.

If you can't connect to that ip use advance ip scanner to scan your network to find the miners ip.

Oh WOW,

I am flattered by the fact that my post had so many responses...

Thank you all, and also for your kind words.

However NONE of you has answered my question because ALL of you are UNABLE to......

WHEN is Bitmain going to lower their prices to make it more "profitable" for us given the upcoming difficulty changes?

Once again thank you all for being so fabulous and pointing out that I am out of order here....

I couldn't be more grateful....

As I said before, I doubt they would plan on lowering the price at least before another big batch. Even at 1.45 it's still the best value out there, and should be quite profitable.

That's using the estimated next growth with a little extra fudge factor, bringing it up to 3.1B. It's also starting at 25% growth per jump, even though the last two were 22.59% and 19.49%, and this one will be 17-18%. Even with those reasonable assumptions, it shows a breakeven in early May. I'm not a huge fan of online profit calculators, but even at 1.45BTC the S1's will be profitable. It just won't be as profitable as some of the other batches. I have enough hardware that I don't want to take on anymore from this generation, but I think I might be marginally interested at this price. Not enough to expand my farm though.

Unfortunately, they're in the business of making money, and only help up make a profit insofar as it helps them make money. If they can sell out their current stock at 1.45, there's no reason to lower the price no mattre how much we may want it.

Finally, a real response!

Thanks bro.

Though I think they should lower their price since AvalonShenzhen has already dropped their price on the 220GH to 1.1BTC.

Hello  Wink

Limited S1 units will be in sotck soon.
Open sales on Feb 14th 11:00 pm BeiJing time, GMT +8.
Shipment within 48 hours after full payment.

sold out again Wink
all orders will be shipped out on Feb.16.

next batch of S1 units will be stock on Feb 15th, open sales on Feb 15th 11:00 pm BeiJing time, GMT +8.

Sold out my ass.
There were a hundred people here constantly refreshing and trying to order one and nobody got the chance to.

Will there really be more for sale tomorrow?
And if there is at what price?

Because ordering tomorrow doesn't get in our possession until Thursday (if we are lucky) but by then the difficulty has increased.
The same goes for the ones who supposedly ordered all of the machines today.

How are the Ants going to make ROI from now on?

Then please dont order any.

"These droids are not the droids your looking for."  move along.

har har har, you are so wise hero member...

tell us, how is your 1.45BTC miner ordered today received by Tuesday (if you are lucky) gonna break even when by the time you receive it, it only makes 0.0276 per day and about 3 weeks after that it makes only 0.02208? and three weeks after that 0.017664, 0.0141312, 0.01130496, 0.009043968... and so on....

It will take you 12 weeks to reach an amount of 1.710976 - given the facts that it works non stop and properly -
PLUS that doesn't include power costs.
So tell us, Wise oh Wise Hero Member, where are the droids we are looking for?

EDIT: The estimates given above are for only a 20% difficulty increase

Only in btc land can someone be upset about hitting positive ROI in 3 months time.  Plus there is never a shortage of people who will buy that miner off you in 3 months for more than it will mine for the rest of its life.  So yes, I would say it sounds like a good investment, hence why I have 16.

I couldn't agree with you more, but the issue here is that Bitmain has to lower their prices in order to remain (at the top) in the market and competitive.
Otherwise it wouldn't be profitable for me to get an Antminer for 1.45BTC now.
Their competitors have lowered their prices, and today when we were all expecting to grab a couple of Ants (at a lower price) and nothing happened and we get a post that they are all sold out!!!!!
WHEN?Huh
I was behind this all the time!

Anyway, I believe that Bitmain should lower their prices to match the competition also given the facts that 3 days from now the difficulty will increase and no machines will be delivered before that,
It is a fair request I believe.
That was my point in the first place  Wink

what a waste of time!

what sort of a joke are you guys playing at?

create scarcity and keep the price up??

and there was me thinking you had more integrity than that...

over 2 hours for nothing!!
I guess it's due to their policy of only selling from stock and never taking pre orders. They must be struggling to keep up with demand being the only supplier actually supplying. With today's btc price, those machines are mighty cheap!

Weren't they taking pre-orders during CNY Huh

Hi Everyone,

I sent 7k to Payonix a few months back and I was promised delivery this month. I was reviewing forums and came across this. My heart sank and now I feel sick. I pretty much gave this company all my savings and now am shattered.

Can anyone give any advice on what to do? Sadly I paid via bank transfer and not paypal.

Thanks.

Option A: Forget about your money and move on.

Option B: Spend more money to track these clowns and get your money back (maybe)

Option C: Forget about your money, move on and next time be cautious.

I' ve BIG problems with customs.
Just make some invoice in text editor, print and give it to them, what is the problem?

Breaking the law?  Roll Eyes

How is converting BTC to USD rate braking the law?

If that is the case then no problem, but making up an invoice is.
