4121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The pump and dump scheme on: February 07, 2021, 04:23:13 AM
To add to the OP, here is an extensive thread on what a pump and dump scheme is: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5254863.0, pump and dump has been used on the network for quite a long time, that's why as a matter of necessity, doing your own very thorough research before buying into any investment is always expected of an investor. If one can ignore hype, cause a pump scheme creates hype and allures people into the system, leaving them with dumped coins at the end, don't fall for hypes and you won't be a victim of pump and dump schemes.
4122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cz taking advantage of the Nigerian government ban on bitcoin wrongly. on: February 07, 2021, 03:53:07 AM
Rest assured, people who are in crypto know already that their holding portfolio should be in their private wallets and they should only keep their trading portfolio on exchanges.
Thats prolly the only positive to the ban, there will be quite a lot of Nigerians who didn't understand the security risks of storing your crypto funds in an exchange wallet, but as the government has issued this ban, the awareness is rife in Nigeria that everyone should move their funds to wallets that they own the private keys. If not for anything, it has created the awareness on this security protocol in the minds of Nigerians.
That being said, I think p2p exchanges will once again be away people from Nigeria will buy and sell Bitcoins.
Yes, the government should know by now that it's almost impossible for them to completely censor/ban Bitcoin in their country, the currency (Bitcoin) isn't controlled and manipulated by them, so Bitcoin users in Nigeria do not even have to worry, as long as you don't use centralized exchanges and connect them to your bank, you should be fine.
4123  Economy / Economics / Re: Nigerian Banks To Close Accounts Involved with Crypto on: February 07, 2021, 03:36:40 AM
Imo I don't think this news will change much for the Nigerian Bitcoin community, from the information I've garnered, withdrawals of crypto funds to naira from centralized exchanges is still working fine as of yet, I know it's prolly a matter of time before most exchanges block Nigerians from using their services, but then the option of P2P trade remains sufficient for crypto users in Nigeria.

The news is pretty surprising cause I don't think the government had previously voiced their dissatisfaction on cryptocurrencies, neither have their been high profile cases of scams coming from Nigeria (correct me if I'm wrong). The Nigerian government prolly have something up their sleeve, being the corrupt/manipulative set that it is.
4124  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: February 07, 2021, 03:22:01 AM
So far Arsenal have only been able to win 9 matches, 4 draws and 10 lose which put them in 10th place in the standing and may be down again if Leeds United, Southampton and Crystal Palace are able to win their next match. What happened to Arsenal, they were really very unconvincing this season ?
I can't still understand how Arteta is yet to be sacked as manager of Arsenal, he has done so poorly this season and a change is definitely needed, Frank Lampard wasn't doing too bad, before Chelsea sacked him, I can draw the conclusion that Arteta is really lucky, and I think it's cause he's a club legend and Arsenals club policy on firing managers is pretty lenient, unlike that of Chelsea.
Manchester United have had a dip in their last few games which has made Manchester City even more convincing at the top.
This is true. If City can go on to win their match against Liverpool today, I think they'll have one hand on the title already, other teams around City at the top have seen better days compared to their current form, and City is running away with the title slowly.
4125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICO investment criteria and advices on: February 06, 2021, 07:33:22 PM
Usually I check icodrop webpage but Im not totally secure on where to put my money in. I would like to know peoples criteria in order to choose a good ICO.
There is prolly no good ICO, and if you're not so certain or secure on where to put your money into, then Invest in Bitcoin; ICO's hardly have projects that gives ROI to it's Investors, you're more likely to be scammed and lose your funds if you Invest in ICO's than to make profits. If you prolly already have Bitcoin, and want to acquire altcoins, then ethereum is the best or prolly even the only trusted choice. Before making any investment decision, always verify and do not trust.
4126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gold Could be Next Bitcoin on: February 06, 2021, 07:17:58 PM
yes, bitcoin gold has provided the best for all of us, everyone will want to know whether the future is getting better or vice versa, now many are still asking about bitcoin gold and the future reasons are likely to follow bitcoin which has always been popular in crypto, we are waiting for further information
This is not true, and all the hype around Bitcoin Gold looks like a shill, how many altcoins have been called 'next ethereum', yet none of them have been able to do any better than eth in the market; it's a rarity to see coins being called the next Bitcoin, cause the network is really waxing stronger, with the presence of institutional Investors it'll be almost impossible for any coin to do better, people talking about 'Bitcoin Gold' being the next btc are prolly only saying so cause it's got btc in its name, which is also an indication that the coin is only a 'copy cat'.
4127  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: February 06, 2021, 12:12:51 PM
Manchester City is much better than Liverpool right now especially and Liverpool's home win record is pretty much declining for the past few games but to be honest with you, I want this match to end with a draw so both team share 1 point instead of 3 points to the winner of this match and it is likely to happen.
Manchester City are favorites in this big match this weekend, though if their previous performances are to come into play, then City will prolly have another bad day, but I don't think that's going to happen, City are in top form, and Liverpool are not, I think the best result for Liverpool in this game will be a draw for them.
Man U vs Everton in my opinion will be an interesting game! Red Deivils look good, but Everton are also motivated to win! They have a few games to go up in the standings...
Manchester United would have hoped for a smaller team this weekend, as City faces a big team and could prolly drop points; but Everton are a pretty tough team and united will prolly not get three points from this game, anything is possible in the EPL this season, but if City wins and United loses, then the title is slowing slipping out of their grasp.
4128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Twitter founder interest in Bitcoin on: February 06, 2021, 11:23:22 AM
Bitcoin is getting stronger day by day, don't invest your funds in shitcoins.
Jack Dorsey believes in Bitcoin and it didn't start of recent. There have been quite a lot of endorsement of the network from prominent individuals as well as traditional institutions, and today BTC has appreciated above 40k again, so I expect there to be quite a lot of speculations on the ongoing pump in the media as people start to FOMO. Twitter CEO have posted one or two things about Bitcoin and reinforced his believe in the network, he definitely has 'bitcoin in the bag' as expected.
4129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about exchanging your bitcoin for stablecoins? on: February 06, 2021, 09:01:35 AM
I've not exchanged my Bitcoins to stable coins ever (and I don't trust some of them per se), even when there's a plunge and it's looking to continue. I think Bitcoiners who convert to stable coins are in the network for the short term, long term Investors are less concerned about short term volatility; when there's a drop in price, if you don't have any intentions of selling, just hodl, till it appreciates again.
4130  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: #OccupyCBN Nigeria’s Central Bank Orders Banks to Close Accounts of Crypto Users on: February 06, 2021, 08:58:03 AM
Thats the current situation of crypto regulation in Nigeria, the statement was issued yesterday by the central bank of Nigeria. Nigeria currently has a high rate of unemployment amongst the youths, and the country's young population have delved into crypto trading and investment, most especially Bitcoin, it comes as a surprise that the government is trying to block that source without adequately providing for it's pupulace.

The community of crypto users in Nigeria are quite knowledgeable on the network, so they'll prolly know how to circumvent this ban, the thing now is, p2p vendors in the country could hike their conversion to naira price, making things difficult for crypto users in Nigeria.
4131  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: February 04, 2021, 05:52:30 PM
I'm really looking forward to the Tottenham - Chelsea game tonight. Tottenham is still without Kane and Reguillon, while Tuchel has a full Chelsea team at his disposal.
Very important match for the both teams, they both looked like title contenders and even favorites at one point this season, but all that seem to have evaporated and now even a top four finish for Chelsea and spurs looks unlikely, this is a big game to grab momentum for them, but imo, Chelsea look like the team more fitting to get the victory tonight.
I think it will be a pretty closed game defensively, Mourinho will want to defend first and attack through Son and Bergwijn on the counterattacks and Tuchel will be satisfied with a boring draw.
I don't think Chelsea and Tuchel will be satisfied with a draw, Chelsea have been playing a somewhat less defensive football this season, both under Lampard and Tuchel, but Mou on the other hand is always satisfied to sit back, and hit on the counter, it worked at the initial stage of the season, but it no longer is, if Mou still has any plans of fighting for the title, then he needs to change the pattern his team plays.
4132  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: February 04, 2021, 04:03:44 AM
This poor result gave Manchester City the opportunity to last longer in first position. The current point gap with Liverpool has become 7 and that will make it even more difficult for Liverpool to continue their journey toward the title race.
Pretty difficult, if Liverpool lose this weekend to City, then the points gap Increases to ten, with a game in hand, if that happens I think Liverpool can kiss their title goodbye, it's been almost impossible winning Liverpool at Anfield, but after two latest loss on their home ground, this could give City confidence going into Sundays match, Manchester City always struggle to take anything away whenever they visit Anfield, but it looks like Liverpool's confidence is bottom low, and pep could lead City to a long awaited victory at the home of the current champions.

City would prefer a title race with United, than with Liverpool, cause I think it'll be easier for City; and that looks like exactly what's going to happen if Liverpool continues playing like this.
4133  Economy / Economics / Re: What if you had invested bitcoin instead of gamestonk? on: February 03, 2021, 01:40:45 PM
There are prolly quite a lot of stocks, as well as investments that I would pick Bitcoin before, not even cause such stocks or maybe Investment options like gamestonk is clearly bad, but basically cause Bitcoin is better and offers more to it's community of users. Since the influx of traditional institutions into BTC last year, the message became somewhat clearer that there's certainly more fate now in Bitcoin; people are in a frantic search for a hedge against the inflation coming for our fiat currencies, and last but not least, it's a great feeling 'banking' yourself, all that which BTC affords.
Is bitcoin much more resistance to such wild swings? Is bitcoin much resistance to naked short selling?
Bitcoin isn't a 'safe haven' to explicate it using that term, but Bitcoins resistance to certain events is waxing stronger as the network improves with the passing year, 2020 was a good test with the pandemic, one that BTC passed with a good mark, Bitcoin may not be totally resistant, but with the backing of institutional Investors now in the market, sharp and significant plunges will reduce significantly.
4134  Economy / Economics / Re: Does Bubbles add real Value to economic growth? on: February 03, 2021, 09:10:10 AM
The Bubble you're referring to is in the area of cryptocurrency I guess, and you're equating it being able to provide growth in the traditional economy, this isn't possible. Having said that, if it's simply based on cryptocurrency value/growth, imo, hype is what results in a Bubble most times, when certain individuals or sporadic appreciating price movements causes an Influx of Investors into a network, it usually causes a spike that's most times called a bubble when it actually dumps, imo, it can add value in the sense that it increases the demand (investors) for such coin, and if it does maintain it's value and doesn't plunge, then it wouldn't be referred to as a bubble.

But most often than not, it crashes/dumps, then people make assertions that 'the bubble has burst', that way it fails to add real value to the growth of the particular network, Bitcoin was once touted to be a bubble initially when the price started to appreciate, but after a period of sustained development, it's now overperformed to be called that anymore, that would have been the case of most coins that have been called bubbles if they didn't 'burst'/dump.
4135  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: February 03, 2021, 08:50:46 AM
I am happy for him on this deal. I think he is quite talented. He is also only 23 years old. I really liked him in some games when he was at Arsenal. Therefore, I think West Brom did a nice thing by signing him on loan. I believe he will make a good contribution to the team.
It's only good for Maitland-Niles cause it's a loan deal and there's still possibly of him returning to the Emirates if Arsenal have that at the back of their mind, most times loan deals helps the players to get more playing time especially when the move is to a smaller club like in the case of Niles here, I hope big Sam gives the lad a chance to show himself, and increase the possibilities of Arsenal wanting him back, it'll turn out to be a terrible deal if West Brom gets relegated and he has to go down to the championship with them, that'll be a big dent to his career.
4136  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2020/2021 on: February 03, 2021, 08:43:01 AM
I think Man City will secure 3 points against Burnley in the next match. They have no problems with Burnley and all players of Man City now have good motivation to win every single match. Moreover, next, they will against Liverpool, it will be a difficult game, especially playing in Liverpool home. So, I am sure Man City will maintain to lead the table with 3 points in the next match.
Manchester City should have little or no problems whatsoever putting Burnley away, they are used to defeating the clarets with over five goals, and today's game may prolly not end with that scoreline, but a win for pep and his boys is certain imo, and that will take them three points ahead of Manchester United, in addition to a game in hand, City still clearly have the advantage.

Having said that, the more important game is against Liverpool at the weekend, nobody remembers the last time City won at Anfield, though this time around, my heart tells me it's about to change, the game will be decided by the smallest of margins, City looks like the team that will get the edge at the end, I predict something of a tight 2:1 victory in favor of Manchester City, to end their winless run at the home of Liverpool.
4137  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: February 02, 2021, 02:46:28 PM
Pep with his team still leading the way. with 11 consecutive win on january on now they are in top of the table with 1 more games between other big six teams. such an easy season i guest
This season is anything but easy, if you have forgotten so quickly, City had a very poor and slow start to the season and as you can see from the league table, despite their consistent form of late, they aren't too far from the teams in second and third positions, and as we know, anything is still possible.

But having said that, atm, City look like they are the title favorites, and if they can win against Liverpool this weekend, then that will give them an added boost and motivation in this title race, City have fixed their defensive woes and are the team to have conceded the least in the league this season, and to add to that, they are a deadly force when going forward. With an impregnable defense and players that can score 3 goals or more in a blink of an eye, I think City will be champions of the EPL this season.
4138  Economy / Economics / Re: Indian Economy to grow at 11.5% in 2021 say IMF on: February 02, 2021, 05:49:56 AM
I wonder how they managed to develop their economy in pandemic year. Maybe their government was clever enough not to introduce quarantine limitations and total lockdown like many other countries (USA, UK, Germany, Ukraine, Italy, Spain, etc.).
Of course, lockdowns and quarantining protocols were implemented in India, as is expected, especially in a country like India that has recorded more than ten million covid-19 positive cases. They haven't developed their economy per se, they prolly have taken a little step forward, which every country's economy will see now and then, but economic recovery is still pretty far. The vaccine is in one way or another the panacea to all of this economic plunge, if the vaccines stops the spread, then the workforce can become effective again, though it'll take a pretty long time before country's start to experience economic normalcy again.
4139  Economy / Economics / Re: Trading Bitcoin in Africa Is a Way for Some to Escape Poverty on: February 02, 2021, 05:31:15 AM
Bitcoin having humanitarian qualities and helping the poor, is one of its most neglected and underappreciated aspects.
It is prolly underappreciated cause it's not one of Bitcoins core qualities and also because there is no guarantee of success for people who want to trade or speculate with Bitcoin to escape poverty, they could still prolly lose their funds, most likely loans or borrowed money, since the thread is about the 'poor'.

Bitcoin as a currency is used by quite a lot of people for one distinct reason or the other, but what one can categorically state assuredly that users of the network are bound to be privileged with control of their funds, freedom from third parties and manipulation, the responsibility of being their own bank etc, this are some of the guarantees (core qualities) on the network, getting rich is also quite a big possibility, though if that quality is mentioned to newcomers, it's often misunderstood as a get rich quick scheme, which prolly causes them to make mistakes, that could be why that aspect/quality of the network is somewhat 'neglected'.
4140  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 31, 2021, 04:08:04 PM
According to some rumours, Manchester Utd are eager to sign 22-year-old Sevilla defender Jules Kounde in this summer. They are willing to pay the transfer fee that is needed. His market value is €50m now.
I'd be surprised if Manchester United signs Kounde for this amount, I didn't even expect United to go in search of a defender this January, as they've spent quite a lot on defenders in the last couple of seasons, neither is their defense plagued with injuries, as that will be the only excuse to go for a new center back, though they could be looking to strengthen up their team to push for the title.

Quite a lot of transfer business is yet to happen till now, though deadline days are usually bound to be the busiest of days in the transfer window, so I'm pretty sure there'll be some significant signings before the day runs out.
