Why is Nefario involved in this???
He's the police, the SEC, the judge, the jury, and the exchange operater??
He is giving the last word to the shareholders, which makes complete sense. I for one, appreciate what he is doing and I would rather trade on a market thats "policed" to some extend. If you dont like how nefario runs the exchange, start your own. Thats how free markets work.

Now, I'm not saying it was ethical to run a PPT, I'm just saying that it doesn't really justify a scammer tag.
For only running a PPT, I would agree. For lying about having inside knowledge of Pirate's identity and business, thereby increasing confidence in Pirate and thus making more money on the PPT, a scammer tag is warranted.

hashking, please don't let them get to you, just focus on those with deposits...
JoelKatz, go away, your not helping
Yes he is. You only started listening to him much too late.

I wouldn't sell any of my personal assets to cover any bitcoin losses. This is a business, it has failed.
You defrauded it. Big difference.

But in pursuit of the scammers tag ... why was he doing swaps at all when it is not part of the agreement? Incompetent, maybe... Enrichment of ghost accounts and friends, looks like he may have tried
I find it very hard to believe someone able to write useful software and articulate English sentences could be so incompetent to lose 95% of shareholder value in 6 months doing honest best effort trading. Aside from PPTs. not a single GLSBE asset did remotely that bad. Given the circumstances, I would assume fraud until proven otherwise. There are many ways Diablo could have profited from these under the table dealings and no objective honest reason I can see why he would have done them.

We are not looking to sell ABMO.
You couldnt sell it because its a worthless junk bond no one wants, thats the point. The current ask is 0.1. The ask is as irrelevant as your 1BTC ask price for your DMC shares.

Diablo Mining Company currently holds on GLBSE: 54 BTC-MINING, currently valued 53.78 BTC 951 BTCMC, currently valued 561.08 BTC 9290 OBSI.ABMO, currently valued 929.00 BTC
https://glbse.com/asset/view/OBSI.ABMOHighest bid is 0.01000001. And that is for exactly 1 share. If you sold the rest it would be for 0.0001. Current valuation, almost exactly 1BTC

I would like to nominate Ponzi scams. They are public, clearly non profit (for investors) and usually open for everyone.

|

So its easy to get these returns on paper as long as you naively assume almost everyone will pay you back, but the reality is likely a whole lot different. I will be very curious to see how much of his loans Patrick will be able to recover, considering how many of the people he totally trusted have already defaulted and/or are now branded as scammers.
Patrick scammed himself, unfortunately. Depends. If he pays his creditors out of his own pocket for the losses Im sure he will suffer, then yes. Otherwise, not really.
|
|

The Lending forum is replete with records of such returns.
You should check again, and factor in all the defaulted loans that ended up in pirate accounts, pirate passthroughs, insurance companies insuring pirate debt and other lending pyramids that ultimately usually ended up with pirate, or some other soon to default ponzi scam. The reality is that there is very little real economic growth going on that could produce these returns. People are borrowing far more to gamble or scam. They may accept high %, but a far higher % will never pay back. So its easy to get these returns on paper as long as you naively assume almost everyone will pay you back, but the reality is likely a whole lot different. I certainly must not, but even if it does, you might have cause and effect reversed. It could be that the increase in price made pirate stop his business (if he was running through zeek, a sharp in crease in btc price would have been a problem since he would make his "profit" in dollar). It could be that people finding out about pirate's imminent default cause an increase, after all a ponzi meant people held 500K coins less than they thought. And most likely, as I said, it could be pirate no longer selling the bulk of his inflow and thus no longer artificially keeping btc price low. I see no shred of evidence that pirate was buying coins on a large scale.
|
|
|
Clearly at that time, someone (most likely Pirate) was trying to buy a lot of bitcoins. That causesd, of course, the price to go up. There are a million factors that could influence BTC price, but if you must link it to pirate, consider that one plausible theory currently says pirate was constantly selling his coins to invest dollars in Zeek (and perhaps in a very stupid attempt to control BTC price). Just the fact he stopped selling coins could just as easily have caused the price rise, and would still leave pirate mostly empty handed in both dollars and btc.

Hashking is a scammer +1
Micon is a horrible poker player +1.Even if he is, at least he plays poker with his own money, not with chips fraudulently borrowed from others. Why dont you spend your time more productive by returning your lenders money or working to gather it?

If pirateat40 is located in Texas, I could collect money from him for those owed.
What would be a fair percentage collection fee?
At this point, most people will gladly give you 90% !

Did hashking ever specifically say the lower interest rate accounts weren't exposed to Pirate? He said they were used for other borrowers, which could include Pirate. I did see it was asked a couple times in his thread but he never answered, not publicly anyway, that I can see.

"Why do we need to investigate further before filing complaints?"
The more factual info we can provide, the sooner that things can be brought to a conclusion.
Some 'know' that Pirate operated a ponzi. Except they don't know. You dont have to know to file a complaint. All that matters is that he owes you a sum of money. Let the authorities figure out if/how Pirate squandered it. Some 'know' that pirate is also Trendon Shavers. Except they don't know. Thats a valid point, but again only the authorities would be able to prove this. Its not like you will get his ISP to cough up his real identity without a warrant. File a complaint against Joe Doe and tell the police what you know. If nothing else we have pictures and assumed names, it should be very easy for them to verify if it is indeed Trendon Shavers. Some 'know' that pirate accumulated 500KBTC. Except they don't know. Doesnt matter. Some 'know' that BST put everything in Zeek. Except they don't know. Doesnt matter. To this end, I would like to file a formal complaint. But I don't feel I have enough concrete info at this point to do so. I don't even know where I'd file a complaint. Where I live, you simply go to the police to file a complaint. We have a special branch for internet related crime and fraud, Im sure most countries have that now. And if thats not the appropriate channel, at least they should be able to direct you elsewhere. In short: stop trying to do the police work yourself, begin by filing a formal complaint. Its about time someone in uniform called up pirate or rang his doorbell.

so he thinks he is actually giving "bond" holders a present.
Truth is, he is giving them a present. Its a dead mouse, but its still a free dead mouse and he didnt have to give it. The ripoff already happened a long time ago when his investors were stupid enough pay 1.5BTC for those bonds (and still gullible today to hold them at current value).
