4141  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase Can it be trusted? Not sure on: June 12, 2019, 03:11:25 PM
What it probably comes down to is that their banking partner doesn't approve certain actions from the user side. This basically means that Coinbase is getting rid of you to please their banking partner so that it doesn't result in a closure of their own bank account(s). In other words, Coinbase is nothing but a slave here and they abide by whatever the bank they are working with tells them to do.

It's probably so hard to find other banking partners that they rather dump off a small number of users to not run into problems themselves.

This is possible but in such case why a company can't just email the customers to tell xyz countries are not allowed anymore.
It makes more sense that limiting customers accounts without any real explanation. If they want to please their banking partners, which is fine, they just have to act as I said. No need to make mysterious things.
4142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this how we regulate Bitcoin? on: June 11, 2019, 04:06:13 PM
Regulation is necessary if we want to see Bitcoin grow into something more than just a speculative asset. Author is on point.

Bitcoin was created to be sustainable without regulations, laws, authority, or whatever. It's just you guys who are praying for regulations and centralization in the hope the price skyrockets. No matter if it kills Bitcoin's ethics as long people are cashing out. The argument of the 'mass adoption' always used but Bitcoin will be adopted with or without regulations. It started a decade ago slowly but on point following its adoption
4143  Economy / Economics / Re: Why the global currency cannot be 100% internet based and if we will have one on: June 11, 2019, 03:43:23 PM
Look at what I said:

A global currency can't be based on internet 100%, otherwise it's a currency that will never be mass adopted.

There are hundreds of people who do not have access to the Internet, and not even electricity. So access to cryptos is not very favorable for them.
Similarly, there are hundreds of people who do not have access to a bank account, so the purchase of cryptos is quickly restricted.
That is why we often say that Bitcoin can become an alternative currency and not a replacement.
4144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto news website CCN going to be shutdown due to google on: June 10, 2019, 09:39:35 PM
That shows the reality of media today's. Without ads revenue, they're nothing. This is sad but Journalism depends on advertisements
In the case of CCN I am surprised they give up so quickly, I even wonder if it's not a buzz attempt. Google algorithms are dynamics and not fixed. Who would shut down a site that still makes $.
4145  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-06-09] G20 Starts Crypto Discussions - A Look at Global Standards on: June 10, 2019, 05:37:17 PM
G20 started to debate on cryptos long ago now, it isn't something new in their agenda. Bitcoin can't be regulated by nature. So their only entry point is the banking system. It's all that they can control or monitor. The link between crypto and fiat is the point of failure. As soon you convert to fiat you're traceable.
4146  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitwala - Blockchain Banking on: June 10, 2019, 03:52:03 PM
Russian citizens living in the EEA (and Switzerland) can open an account with us. Instead of a virtual card, you'll be able to order the Bitwala debit card (powered by MasterCard) for free and with no maintaining fees. Feel free to start here: https://app.bitwala.com/onboarding  Smiley

I don't understand. What does it mean "Living in EEA" ? https://www.tripsavvy.com/countries-that-are-eea-countries-1626682 Shell I visit one of that countries just to register and get Bitwala debit card ?  Grin It is better to provide the complete list of countries where your services are allowed.

Living in EEA... self-explained. If you can't understand that simple thing then you shouldn't own a bank account at all. If you want the complete list, google it. And since you need to provide a proof of residence, don't even think about visiting a country just to be able to create an account (facepalm)
4147  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is this worth a negative feedback? [Community View - icosonar] on: June 09, 2019, 08:21:05 PM
If i had the ability, i would most likely give him a perma-ban for that how shity his posts are, but a negative tag for this matter is indeed not appropriate in my opinion, there is nothing close to serious that suggests he is a scammer or trying to scam, he might be lying about being an Android Dev but still does not make him a scammer.

it's your choice, but i would most certainly not tag him for the reasons you stated.

Why a perma ban? If it's a forum user who is just interested to use it to find a business to do. He shouldn't be banned for not to be interested in anything else in the forum.  Otherwise, we could argue about to ban users who log in just to post BTC news (title, description, read more, link).
If he's a "bad worker" is something else, scamming too.
4148  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Another Bitcoin mixer discontinued on: June 09, 2019, 06:56:48 PM
The site was offline for more than a week when I posted and I don't think it's maintenance. (I'm not the type of guy who starts to be afraid when a website is offline since 24h). ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT. There is no host connection behind the Ip address so the server has been taken down. If it's really maintenance then, they should installed a maintenance page on their website, or something like that, idk. The domain name expires next month, so let's see..
4149  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Please help newbie to go to market in the UK on: June 09, 2019, 03:23:12 PM
Coinbase isn't the only option. There are other places like Coinfloor, Binance Jersay, Cex.io, an Wirex. It depends on how do you want to purchase.
If you want to use a card you can check Binance or Cex.io and the others if you want to use a bank transfer. They deal directly with GBP so you don't have to convert fiats
4150  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-06-05] Gold Can’t Compete With Bitcoin As Form of Money on: June 09, 2019, 02:35:23 PM
The ROI isn't a question with Gold while it is with BTC.

Are you saying that if you buy gold, it will always give you better returns in the future?
That sounds too optimistic. As far as I can see, gold's price is pretty much stagnant for a while now, before the next crisis happens, I doubt it will rise in value that much.

Gold may not be very popular now (due to low returns), but it has always been a reliable form of investment to store your wealth.

I'm surprised. Almost everybody believes that storing your wealth by buying gold and hold it for years is a great investment. What do you mean not popular?

No, I say people buying gold aren't (really) looking to make a profit. A 100% ROI is fine, anything extra is a bonus. The main goal was to protect the capital anyway. While Bitcoin is a pure speculative product and capital cannot be secured in a market like Bitcoin's. Anyone doing it is totally insane. And for folks speculating on it, Gold's price isn't stagnant, zoom out for the last 20 years (since investing in gold should be done for a 20 years period at least)
4151  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-06-05] Gold Can’t Compete With Bitcoin As Form of Money on: June 08, 2019, 08:16:40 PM
When comparing Gold and Bitcoin the first comments going up people think we should store tons of gold in our pockets. Have they forgotten the gold coins? Gold and Bitcoin are too different by nature to be compared. When we say that gold is a safe haven, we cannot really say the same about Bitcoin. The ROI isn't a question with Gold while it is with BTC.
4152  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Recommendation: www.ledgermixer.com Cryptocurrency Mixer on: June 07, 2019, 09:13:31 PM
The site is new and started to be spammed on the web

The same spams on different forums, in different languages (translated)...and by the same usernames 'gringo' and 'Sunberger '... and posted the same days...  Cheesy

4153  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Virtual Card: Mastercard or Visa with Bitcoin funding option ? on: June 07, 2019, 08:13:30 PM
@Timon0
I think only banks can issue the cards with 3d secure code but you can take a look at Bitwala and Wirex. Both have a card
Also, Payglobel uses IDT Financial Services Limited to get the Mastercard, so you just need to search on the web for "issued by IDT Financial Services Limited"

I found some
http://easipaycard.com/
https://www.vazivacard.com/en/home.html
https://www.papaya.eu

Didn't check if there is a BTC option btw
4154  Economy / Service Discussion / Another Bitcoin mixer discontinued on: June 07, 2019, 06:08:10 PM
Ecomix.io is another mixer who recently decided to discontinue their project. The site is no longer hosted and gone.
https://ecomix.io/

I doubt the reasons are the same as Bestmixer, (perhaps something like with bitblender can be speculated) but both have been closed/shut down during the same days.
4155  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I am in need of a legit Bitcoin tumbler similar to Bit Blender on: June 07, 2019, 05:53:29 PM
And if you're looking for more alternatives to make your choice, there is a list of Bitcoin Mixers which I try to keep updated as often it needs
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2827109.0 I also list the services to avoid using.

Also, you say LE is setting up some mixing sites. What/Who's LE?
4156  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: LocalBitcoins Cash-in-person trades removed? on: June 06, 2019, 07:34:37 PM
It's a matter of time before the same change appears on Paxful

I thought the same thing at first, but apparently this wasn't done in response to EU or US regulations. Localbitcoins said the removal of cash trades was done to comply with new Finnish regulations. They operate from Finland.

Paxful appears to operate from the US, so I don't see them removing cash trades based on this.

Finland is in Europe and all European countries obey to Europe regulations/directives and create their laws accordingly. Each law may be different since it's adapted to the country but the goal is the same: following EU directives, otherwise, the country can receive a fine from Brussels.

If Paxful is in The US. it may be prohibited to operate with Europe and therefore refuse or block certain functions to European citizens. In much the same way that some trading platforms prohibit access for American citizens (and sometimes just a few states in the US)
4157  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: LocalBitcoins Cash-in-person trades removed? on: June 06, 2019, 05:20:37 PM
This is suicide.

I haven't been using LocalBitcoins much, but only to make Cash-in-person trades. If it's no longer possible, I won't use LocalBitcoins any more.

I believe Hodl Hodl is their best successor, but they have very, very few trades... Anyone suggests another service? I live in Europe and my interest is limited to Cash-in-person trades.

Bitcoin.com launched its own local.bitcoin.com. I thought it was a joke at first, but not at all. I have visited the offers there and I can say that there are not many either, maybe because it is the beginning, but the site really lacks functionality too. Too simple UI, and if I'm correct, only Btrash can be used

@figmentofmyass

@eternalgloom
Some services (wallets/exchanges mainly) don't allow their users to receive bitcoin from gambling/casino/poker/etc websites. In the example, Coinbase.
4158  Economy / Exchanges / Re: No KYC exchanges on: June 06, 2019, 06:03:50 AM
This is a thing of the past, unfortunately due to the growing regulations and scopes of AML/KYC. Every 'no KYC' exchange I knew slowly shifted into complying due to the restrictions imposed by law enforcement and regulations, else they'd be shut down. There are a few existing out there in the wild but once you reached a certain limit/amount of trades, you will be asked to submit documents thereafter should you wish to continue trading with them. There were local exchanges that I have tried that seemed to do the job but the amount limit is ridiculously low ($40).

A thing of the past? He's talking about an exchange and so a company. Companies have been RARELY involved with Paypal and cryptos. I don't even remember to see one honestly
Which company would risk losing his business account knowing Paypal doesn't allow digital currency sales
This has nothing to do with AML/KYC
4159  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why I hate Banks and love Bitcoin :-> on: June 05, 2019, 09:14:35 PM
Financial Freedom is important but it also has its disadvantages, mistakes for example can be devastating because no one is in control of your coins and so, no one will be able to refund you if you make a  mistake.

If you make a bank transfer by mistake the bank can do nothing in most cases. If you get ripped off your $100 banknote, there's nothing you can do either. So I don't really see the comparison?

Yes, banks suck, their interest rates, fees, etc are bad, however there isn't a much better alternative when it comes to everyday payments and even other type of payments.

There are literally a thousand of payment methods and more currencies, it's not the problem. The problem is they are all centralized or state-owned. Bitcoin is the currency of nobody, doesn't represent a nation and isn't controlled by a centralized network.

4160  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-06-04] Apple Embraces Bitcoin on: June 05, 2019, 08:43:51 PM
A whole article dedicated to a simple Bitcoin symbol.  Roll Eyes

Reading the title I thought Apple started to integrate BTC into their system. and started to think, "it's fucking there right now, BTC will jump!"
In fact, it's just to say that Apple adds the symbol.
Ah, so that's the mass adoption? Super Cheesy

BTC symbol will be surely integrated by default on all keyboard types in the future, not in 5 years sure but I mean something like 15 years. We will just need to Alt Gr+BTC    Tongue
