4163  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Over paying for hash power, why? on: April 24, 2020, 04:53:24 AM
With an S3 maybe? I highly doubt any of the new gears has this function built-in, I know old gears used to support more stuff like parallel-mining but I have never heard of a profit-switching function being implemented in any mining gear, usually, people use AwosomeMiner or any other monitoring software to achieve this, not sure this code will work simply by modifying the pool details, maybe you need SSH access or something, I still can't see how the miner will "know" how much nicehash or any other pool for that matter actually pays, I am interested in hearing from you phill.

speaking of mining pools, check your Viabtc account, they gave out discount coupons a few days ago and they expire soon so make sure you use them.
4164  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Over paying for hash power, why? on: April 24, 2020, 01:47:16 AM
Still going on. I got burned by nicehash when the hack happened.
They paid some back but I never gained faith in what they did.

Nice hash created a topic which was later on deleted by one of the mods probably for being in the wrong section, it can be found in the Modlog

Quote
Remove topic: NiceHash SHA256 mining is 3x more profitable than mining BTC directly. in topic #5242848 by member #362449

I managed to take a screenshot:

In reality, a few hours after they posted the topic, Whattomine was actually showing completely different results.

The above results were based on the "current"' profitability, to be fair I also used the default (average 24 hours) settings on whattomine and got the following results which are far from the 3x they advertised.

The results that Nicehash posted were the average 7 days, and those results are far from stable/accurate.

Nicehash MODIFIED the calculations options on whattomine to get the results which best suit them in order to give newbies the false impression of the mining rewards making it look like they will always get 3x more profits mining on Nicehash, when in reality as I type, it's less profitable to mine at nicehash than directly mining bitcoin.

While Nicehash is a long-standing service in spite of the fact that they were hacked and miners lost a lot of money of which Nicehash paid back 82% and promised to repay the remaining 18%, this misrepresentation of data by Nicehash makes me doubt their integrity and I wouldn't trust a word they say.
on: April 23, 2020, 11:10:23 PM

4166  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: question: searching for long lasting antminers ? on: April 23, 2020, 10:18:32 PM
I have a french supplier that pointed to me Whatsminers M21S – Bitcoin 56Th/s and  Canaan Avalon 1066 and Canaan Avalon 1066 PRO  wich were at a price of 1060$ and 990$ and 840$ i find that there price was resonableز

Those are good prices you were quoted

These prices are not reasonable by to me at least, below are the current prices in the Chinese market

M21s 56th > $650
Avalon 1066 > $670
1066 PRO > no clue.

** You could probably get them a little bit cheaper.

Taking M21s for an example, 1060 - 650 = $410, that's a lot for shipping and some profit, of course, I am totally unaware of the taxes and import fees where you live, so you got to do the maths for that.

I own M21s, it's a very reliable gear.

Edit: less than 19 days to the halving, I expect gear prices to fall by at least 30%, this is not financial advice, but I personally would not buy any gear now, next month-end is a good time to buy IMO.

4168  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: question: searching for long lasting antimers ? on: April 22, 2020, 11:58:49 PM
He should refer to them as ASIC miners instead, it's normal for the first/most famous brand name to be used as a generic term, which is pretty sad as far as mining is concerned.

OP, I second NotFuzzyWarm's input but since I got your PM regarding this topic, I don't mind receiving messages asking me to participate in certain topics, everyone, feel free to notify me via PM and ask my inputs, however, some other members might not like it and your PMs might be reported and that will get you banned, so be careful about whom you PM.

Back to the topic and since you asked for my input, I don't have enough experience with MicroBt, and I have no experience with Avalon but I can tell you that Bitmain aka Antminer quality is terrible, if you have the chance to buy any other brand, go ahead and don't bother with Bitmain, I do have to be fair and point out that Antminer S9 was pretty much robust compared to the new versions, but what I learned from other people on forum and off-forum is that Bitmain, in general, has the lowest quality and the shortest lifespan.

The one thing that Bitmain does best is the delivery, you get the gears in time as promised like 99% of the time, with MicorBt some people reported delays of a few months, but that was last year IIRC and things are good now I guess, wait for others to respond in regards to this point, anyway based on your question you do seem like you want a gear that will last for long and you don't seem to worry about efficiency, this means you will most likely be looking for old cheap gears, in that case, delivery doesn't matter since you are most likely going to be buying a gear that is ready to ship.
4169  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: problem Configuration Innosilicon T2 17.2Ths on: April 22, 2020, 11:04:56 PM

You are either using/entering wrong pool/worker details or the miner is hacked, try these pools settings

URL:
stratum+tcp://de.ckpool.org:3333
Worker:
1PKN98VN2z5gwSGZvGKS2bj8aADZBkyhkZ
Password:
x

If that doesn't work, it's very likely you have a hacked firmware, did you just buy this miner from someone else?
4170  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: April 22, 2020, 10:51:11 PM
Sometimes I feel like screaming, let's just get over with all this, the virus, the halving, crashes, quarantine, the ..everything!

Only 19 days left for the halving nightmare to be over, the virus maybe 2-3 months and we will get over it, the overall economy hmmm, probably a few years.

For clients, for special clients gear might be already up and mining by now.

There are indeed special clients that we are aware of but highly unlikely to be "special" enough to actually own the gears that early, but this doesn't mean anything because after all Bitmain themselves might be mining with a good amount of S19s already, which may not be the case at all, because if I was bitmain I would try to get rid of as many gears as I can before the halving.
4171  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: problem Configuration Innosilicon T2 17.2Ths on: April 22, 2020, 10:26:56 PM
I am having a hard time understanding the language, do you mean that when you input the pool settings, click save and then when you refresh the page your pool details are gone and you see the default pool settings?

Can you take a screenshot (image) of the pool settings and post it here? you can use https://imgbb.com/ or https://imgur.com/ to upload the image and post the link here.

Quote

4173  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: MicroBT WhatsMiner M30S++, M30S+, M30S, M31S+ Hardware Specifics on: April 22, 2020, 07:04:25 PM
Today 17 April 2020 MicroBT announces the fourth generation of their WhatsMiner Hardware.

M30S++:
  • Hashing Power: 112 TH
  • Power Consumption: 3472 W
  • Efficiency: 31 J/T
  • Price: 3899 $

M30S+:
  • Hashing Power: 100 TH
  • Power Consumption: 3400 W
  • Efficiency: 34 J/T
  • Price: 2740 $

How positive are you about these prices? $1000 for a difference of 3j/T and 12TH does not look reasonable to me.

lol anyone who orders this is a moron.  s19 same specs.. actually ship when they say vs whatsminer last year, 2 power cords instead of 1 (able to run on a pdu that way) and less money.  Literally NO benefit of these miners over a s19.

I agree prices are high in compression to S19, Bitmain almost always had the best combination of price, efficiency, and delivery over Microbt, but there is a very important factor which most of us seem to be ignoring and that is QUALITY, some people are reporting up to 25% attrition rate for the S17, and given these gears are still new and we don't have much data, the real numbers are undoubtedly worse, I have literally had over 50% of the last a great I bought from Bitmain fail, I have a room full of dead hashboards from different bitmain models, I don't even want to talk about the antmienr S9k, on the other hand, I gave Microbt a shot and went with the S21s and I got to say I love the quality of these gears.

If you search the internet you will notice that a dozen people have a truckload of issues with all different kinds of Bitmain gears, but you seldom find someone who complains about Microbt quality.
4174  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Introduces the S19 and S19 Pro on: April 22, 2020, 06:37:34 PM
It's really nice to hear from someone who owns what I consider to be a good sample size, and since the attrition of 15% on the S17s pros and 20-25 on the S17s it's safe to assume the average is 20%, and honestly, I am quite sure it would have been worse if you got anything else aside from the pro version.

The one thing I would like to add which I have missed in my previous comment is the fact that it's really not just the 7nm technology that is making Bitmain's gears quality look like shit, it has to be something else, I am saying this because even the new S9 models which are built on 16nm are way far from robust when you compare them to the previous models, this has to be something with their quality control, maybe some very essential engineers left Bitmain, maybe they are desperately trying to reduce the cost, I don't know what caused them to start making shity gears like this but I know that the S19s will most likely be less robust, or at best case scenario - they will be as reliable as the S17s.
4175  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: It is 2020 time for a new diff thread. on: April 22, 2020, 02:12:00 AM
16.0 in an hour or so.

15.95T to be exact, less than 4% is needed for this Epoch to take us back to difficulty ATH, BTC price is at $6800, we are 35% down from this year ATH and only less than 4% down in terms of difficulty, I expect we hit a new ATH before the halving which is due in 20 days, many gamblers will try to hit a block or two before the halving comes, new gears are arriving soon, this looks bad overall as far as mining profitability is concerned, with the pandemic, oil prices collapsing, millions of people losing their jobs, price of bitcoin doesn't seem to be increasing, this is going to be a tough year for miners, stay strong - stay safe.
4176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Compromised Antminer L3+ on: April 22, 2020, 01:53:56 AM
Communication problems go both ways.

Let other people chime in and if anyone understood my words the way you did - then I will blame my writing, but I assure you that anyone who knows enough about mining would perfectly understand that "nicehash hacker" in the context above explicitly refers to a hacked firmware that uses nicehash to mine.

Quote
You make assumptions,

You see you don't get it, this topic was initially a comment in BTC mining topic which was describing the infection in great details, the mod moved this comment and all the replies to it here because pusttiu mentioned L3+ which does not fit into BTC mining, there are 0 assumptions made, I have all the details, I have PERSONALLY had this virus and FIXED it, you are assuming that I am making assumptions because you either have a personal problem with me or because of your "poor reading comprehension" or else you would have easily guessed that this topic is missing a ton of information because it was initially a single comment on the main thread, hence. the wordings

Quote
hy, the same user 3BjMWfED7RJvtBPPikJpweDT6A9xRW952x

heck there is even this part

btw this is for ltc mining which is an alt coin question not a btc question

This should have given you an idea that there are a lot more inputs than what appears to be there, but instead of wondering why would a topic start with such words, you left all that, went all the way to the bottom of the topic to cherry-pick my words.  Roll Eyes

Quote
The problem is poorly defined.

it's not, in the initial topic the problem was thoroughly explained in deep details, it's YOU who have poorly identified the problem because you refuse to search, yes it's probably the mod's fault for moving a little part of the topic here, I admit it does create confusion, but I am neither responsible for that nor how you misunderstand my words.

If you were nice enough, I would have directed you the original topic and explained everything in details, but it seems to me like all you are trying to do is to make me look and sound "wrong", which even if you succeeded in doing - it does not add anything to the community when you don't actually correct me, I rather not waste time arguing with you or anyone else, this is the exact reason why I avoid Altcoins section, if you see me post here, it's safe to assume a mod moved the topic here.

With that being said, I am sorry that you don't seem to like or understand what I write, I have nothing against you and I wish you all the best.

4178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Compromised Antminer L3+ on: April 22, 2020, 12:43:10 AM
in most cases and according to my experience with the same nicehash hacker,

Quote from: mikeywith

This has nothing to do with Nicehash getting hacked.

Whatever you say.

I think the confusion has to do with lack of knowledge regarding mining, by "nicehash hacker" I mean the famous hacker who uses the following Nicehash JP server and mines under the wallet 3BjMWfED7RJvtBPPikJpweDT6A9xRW952x, you can read about here and here.

In fact, even without reading a thing about it elsewhere, if you weren't reading out of context you would have understood that this whole thing has NOTHING to do with Nicehash itself being hacked and it simply implies a hacker who USES nicehash, this is the second time you do this and now I'm almost certain that you have poor reading comprehension, sadly I can't help you with that.
4179  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: innosilicon t3h 50t s1 hardware fault? on: April 21, 2020, 10:42:10 PM
hi guys update, my new control board arrived.. put it in... fired it up... exact same thing. gonna look at testing the voltage but the error code still says 30 which innosilicon said was pool issue. ive tried nicehash slushpool f2pool and a few that they recommend. all same. ive messaged innosilicon and waiting for response.

I have been following the thread and waiting for you to update since the previous owner replaced the PSU and you replaced the control board, it's all now pointing to faulty hashboards, this is a very rare case, we don't know the history of this gear, the other guy might have bought it used from a reseller who purposely attached dead boards and shipped it away.

but before giving up on this, I want you to try different network settings, by different I mean EVERYTHING different from the network cable to the router and even ISP if possible, and would you please post the pool settings you use? just in case you are making a mistake here or there.
