4161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU confusion on: June 24, 2021, 07:52:04 PM
Read about it here,
https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2021/05/18/lhr/

Basically it stands for Lite Hashrate and its Nvidia's attempt to make the gamers happy and make the GPUs less desireable to miners so gamers can get their hands on them. Many think why does Nvidia care whether Gamers or Miners buy their GPUS, they get their money anyways? But the issue is that for the past year or so many gamers are mad because GPUs are OOS everywhere and they are forced to pay huge markups.

So these GPUs will be easier to find in stock usually. You can even mine with them but the hashrate is reduced. Wonder if AMD will make a similar approach?

Amd has come out already and said they won't purposely reduce the hashrate of their cards.
https://www.pcgamer.com/amd-cryptocurrency-mining-limiter-ethereum/
The RX 6000 series is already worse for mining due to its improved architecture for gamers.
AMD is doing much smarter, because when the demand for video cards falls, they will not have to create leaks for new drivers, which increase the hash rate in mining.
4162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How can anyone build a PoS staking pool on: June 24, 2021, 07:43:06 PM
For PoS coins, this is called a node. Each coin has its own requirements for a node. You need to have a certain number of coins (for Ethereum, this is 32 coins) and the most difficult thing is to set up a node and monitor its work.
You need to update the node yourself.
Sometimes it's easier to delegate this work to a trusted service or wait for an easier solution.
4163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Trying to cool rig with six fans - What's the best method? Corsair Commander Pro on: June 24, 2021, 07:37:06 PM

This is the fastest and most proven method.
I never buy adapters if I can do it myself. You can purchase a fan controller if you need it, for example STW-6041 for fine tuning of powerful fans
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002826477784.html

But scissors and duct tape will still come in handy.
4164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Closed Mining Rig - Questions about fans on: June 24, 2021, 07:22:37 PM
Have you looked at the pictures? I guess not. Closed means closed case. So a case like a PC case and i can´t leave it open. Air is flowing from the front panel of the GPU to the outlet where the fans are installed.

And im not thinking about buying a case.. i have one and it is what it is right now. No Discussion about space between cards, i´m only asking for the direction of air flow.

Cheers Rico
Have you read the technical documentation and instructions for the case?
There should be answers to your questions.
I do not know the models of your video cards, but the principles can be either a cheap cooling system for video cards, or weak fans that you install in your closed case.
There are also unsuccessful cases.

In this picture, fans blow hot air out.
4165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Refused from more than 20 insurance companies in Quebec for home crypto mining! on: June 24, 2021, 05:18:16 PM
Usually home insurance never covers anything if its related to a business activity. If you run some shop, and you get robbed then the insurance won't cover it. Same with people who are driving for Uber. Since their car is used for commercial purposes they need special insurance. If you ever tried buying auto insurance in the last 2-3 years, you get constantely asked whether this vehicle will be used for Uber, taxi for hire, delivering packages from Amazon, delivering Uber Eats, etc.

If you are in some accident while you were delivering some Uber Eats and you had regular insurance they won't cover you. So mining activites also won't be covered. I've been mining for years and never had any issues. I haven't heard of any home miner burn down their house. I heard of maybe 2-3 actual large mining farms in China burn down but they had like 1000 ASICs.

Exactly! Nevertheless I was willing to pay a prime to have a coverage against theft and fire.
And you will not be insured against theft or fire until your premises meet all the required standards of the data center.
The insurance company will then sue the fire system installer or security company if something happens to your equipment. It usually works like this.

Probably but I am a small fish (mining in my garage), not sure the same rules apply to me. For big warehouse miners sure.

In my situation they didn't study my case.... next!
Even in my country, only certain types of garages are insured. The garage should be made of concrete or brick, have a concrete roof and a metal door. Garages made of wood or iron do not provide insurance or security because they are very easy to break into.
If mining becomes unprofitable, it will be easier to burn down your garage Smiley

What's the difference between a RTX3060ti and a RTX3060ti LHR and what confused me the most is the LHR, is this a better version for mining? I'm just trying to avoid something I may regret later thanks
Skinny48 answered you correctly. But the RTX3060ti LHR video card needs to be tested, if it has a low hash rate when mining Ethereum, then this is not a problem. You need to check the hash rate on other algorithms

https://whattomine.com/gpus/52-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3060-ti?cost=0.1
Therefore, you need to buy 1 video card for testing.
In your country, can the video card be returned a day after purchase or exchanged for another?
4167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Too good to be true rig offer on: June 23, 2021, 12:52:02 PM
Guys someone trying to sell me a 8x RTX 3070 for 4000$ in my country but I don't even believe this is real because this is definition of too damn good to be true, GPUs are still damn costly as we all know it so even if this guy got them cards at MSRP well ETH mining isn't even over yet, that's 1000$ every month @ 500MH, tell me ain't something fishy here? 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Check market prices in your country.
There are no such prices for the $ 500 RTX 3070. If this were true, then he would have sold these video cards in a few hours.
I don't know what your crime rate is, but you can make an appointment and go there with a friend. Leave the money with a friend, if everything is in order, then call him and ask him to bring it.
4168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Are some miners quitting already ? on: June 23, 2021, 12:46:25 PM
My farm consists of 5 Rx 470 4GB graphics cards. 1 month ago, the profit per day was 0.1 ETC per day, and now my profit is 0.15 ETC per day.

Maybe the miners found another coin and the hash rate has greatly decreased

4169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Gas fees already very low, so I think 1559 wont be too bad now on: June 23, 2021, 12:39:40 PM
London hasn't even launched on testnets yet, and we don't know what the result will be. Hardfork may be postponed for an indefinite period of time.
One of the most important indicators in mining is the cost of electricity. And while it is minimal, there is nothing to worry about.
But those miners who pay about 15 cents and more will have problems.
4170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Are some miners quitting already ? on: June 23, 2021, 12:33:03 PM
I see the difficulty of ETC which was 320 T and now is back at 276 T which for me is great as I can produce a lot more ETC daily then I used to with 320 T.I noticed the same pattern in ETH which got from 7.79 P to 6.47 P which again increased my profit daily in crypto not in dollars.I of course am very happy with it as I am a long term player but what caused this to happen, maybe because prices fell some miners cannot afford anymore their mining activities because of high electricity cost or what ?
Now a good profit. I mine Ethereum Classic only on Rx 470 4GB video cards. I think that more profitable algorithms can be found on more modern video cards.
But I think that mining Ethereum classic is a more risky business than mining Ethereum, so all my video cards that have more than 4 GB of memory are mining Ethereum.
4171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New L3+ from Alibaba on: June 23, 2021, 12:26:31 PM
If you carefully change 2 fans in the ASIC and clean it from dust, it will be difficult to find that the ASIC was used before.
Now there are a lot of large farms in China, so mining equipment is also sold on trading floors.
I am sure that in the near future there will be a lot of interesting proposals.
I think you've heard about the new Litecoin / Dogecoin L7 ASIC.

4173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: my 5700XT hashrate fluctuate too much on: June 22, 2021, 07:07:58 PM
Check your vmem temp, increase your fan speed.
Rx5700XT has no vmem Temp issue unlike rtx3080 and rtx3090, I'm suspecting it's normal high temperature issue and OP can stop that using better cooling pad or paste, I have one RX5700 with high temp issue and it vanished after I changed its thermal paste
droomagon writes that the fan speed is 60%.
Therefore, this value can be increased.
Replacing the thermal paste will reduce the temperature of the video card chip, the memory is cooled using thermal pads.
You can change the thermal pads and you will lose the warranty on the video card, but this may not be the reason.
4174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPUs are not being sold as fast as used to be on: June 20, 2021, 04:01:22 PM
Where I live, price still the same, actually is a lot more expensive, 3070 is being sold for 2500 usd and 3080 for 4000 usd, 3090 for 5000 usd, insane prices. Before the bs, the 3070's were being sold for 600 usd each.
You will earn more by reselling these graphics cards. Order your first batch on Amazon Smiley
4175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What's a good starter motherboard for building a starter mining rig? on: June 20, 2021, 03:57:28 PM
Nothing special is required on a motherboard except PCIe slots. The CPU is nothing special either.
Any old desktop PC will do, just add a good PSU and the GPUs.
This is where you are wrong.
Not all motherboards are suitable for mining, because 3-4 video cards are determined well, and then problems begin.
It is better to buy proven solutions so that later you do not ask questions about why my motherboard does not want to work with 5 video cards.
4176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: info@linzhi-miner.co on: June 20, 2021, 03:53:43 PM
...
How does your ASIC work?
Is your ASIC limited in memory or do you have the option to increase your memory to continue mining Ethereum in September?
Will these ASICs be sold on the market, or has the company decided not to sell this equipment?
Is it possible to mine Ethereum Classic on this ASIC?
4177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What's a good starter motherboard for building a starter mining rig? on: June 19, 2021, 09:20:29 PM
This is not a problem if a beginner makes his first farm on 1050 ti graphics cards.
It will be a good experience, but he will quickly realize that 1 modern video card like rtx3060ti will give more profit than his farm of 5 1050 ti video cards.
The only important factor will be the price for which the newbie will buy these 1050 ti graphics cards. On these video cards, a newbie can mine coins until modern video cards are cheaper and sold in stores without queues.
4178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: my 5700XT hashrate fluctuate too much on: June 19, 2021, 07:34:24 PM
In such cases, I always test the video card at standard settings. If you have a good power supply and no problems with the raisers, then remove the overclocking and see your result.
The simplest advice I can say is that Core Voltage: 850 is very low, try setting it to 900 or 875.
4179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: info@linzhi-miner.co on: June 19, 2021, 07:28:38 PM
It is best to ask for advice before investing, but for some reason no one does it.
This is the most important question.
I wrote above a link to only 1 fraudulent site, but how many such sites will appear on the Internet in the coming months?
Mining is profitable now, and newbies don't often ask questions.
As a rule, such questions about buying equipment with a payback of less than 1 month cause a lot of ridicule and negativity, but it's still better than losing money.
4180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: For Nvidia GPU miners on ETH, why using Phoenix miner instead of T-Rex miner? on: June 19, 2021, 07:18:32 PM
https://2miners.com/blog/best-ethereum-mining-software-for-nvidia-and-amd/
"The only open-source mining software Ethminer came third. It doesn’t charge a developer’s fee, so hashrates in the program and in the pool are almost identical with a 0.01% difference. As you can see, if mining software is free, it doesn’t mean that you get more profit. If you choose Gminer or T-rex, you gain more."
