4161  Economy / Economics / Re: Dollar coming to an end on: January 30, 2015, 06:40:18 PM
Like Armageddon people have been proclaiming it's coming very shortly since the day dot. That being said, nothing lasts forever and the dollar as with other currencies will likely collapse or lose most of their value at some point, the question is just when.

Will the Bitcoin survive the year?  Tough to say, I don't see the dollar going anywhere for quite some time though!

It'll be a while for sure but keep printing more and more of it and you'll speed the process up.

Not really, I don't think they are producing enough bills with the cost of living going up and the cost of everything.  We would all be making a lot more money if that was the plan.
The worst is if you are a student. A lot of students that graduate will not be able to find jobs and will have the college debt for life.
4162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Regret and depression on: January 30, 2015, 06:37:45 PM
The Winklevoss own 1% of all bitcoins and they had the balls to hold all over the 1k peak, they didnt sell a single coin, thats determination to hold long term.
4163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Rebranding - Using the term Blockchain vs Bitcoin on: January 30, 2015, 06:33:52 PM
I agree there's not much confusion now.

But imagine developing upon a protocol called the Dollar and you spend dollars.  It'll become a more confusing term in the future if bitcoin ever becomes a mainstream currency.  The blockchain is MORE than just a currency.

I want to create contracts, social media, and various apps (anything that needs ownership) using this ledger/consensus technology.  The actual world-changing protocol should not have the same name as the currency that stems from it.

Just my $.02

The problem is that Bitcoin was designed as a currency, nothing more. Yes, the concept of the blockchain is a great invention that can be used for smart contracts and the like, but the blockchain used by Bitcoin was meant to log currency transactions.

It's cool that people are using Bitcoin's blockchain for things such as Proof of existence, but I think an independent (i.e. not Bitcoin's) blockchain should be ideal for these kind of projects.

Yeah, they are only going to make the blockchain slower by suffocating it with too much content. I think sidechains are a bit overrated around here.
4164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is how I felt when I made a bitcoin payment (illustration) on: January 30, 2015, 06:30:36 PM
Paying with your smartphone will be trendy in the future, it will be like the new "sweep the credit card" sexy movement. It will feel natural for me milenials to pay with phones.
4165  Economy / Economics / Re: Paper Money is so Dead on: January 29, 2015, 06:54:20 PM
The only paper money that is still alive and kicking is Monopoly game. Such a fun game to play after so many years Cheesy
4166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Apple Pay and BTC on: January 29, 2015, 06:53:11 PM
You have to give credit to Apple to have that "black magic" used when using technologies that existed before but which no one spoke about and turn them into things for mass use.
4167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Well I guess we will have to make the UK banking system illegal. on: January 29, 2015, 06:50:45 PM
The banking industry is full of scammers and druggers, but of course its the status quo so nothing will ever change.

OP, there's still hope if you put things in perspective:

We are still early adopters, not barons of bitcoin tier of early adopters, but early.

In 10 years, we may make it big if we have a couple bitcoins lying around. It all comes down to Bitcoin being a global success or not. It sucks having to wait tho, but at least you have some positive hope in the future, instead of working towards a guaranteed mediocre life.
4169  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Study: Everyone hates environmentalists and feminists on: January 27, 2015, 07:23:00 PM
Feminism is another movement controlled by a hidden power.
Well, Andreas seems like a feminist to me given some of his talks. I dont see people hating on Andreas over there..
4170  Other / Politics & Society / Re: end of days? on: January 27, 2015, 06:56:27 PM
Yeah, the problem is the bible isn't based off reality, it's fiction and you can get the same results by looking at sci-fi movies from the 90's etc.
The Bible even failed to predict Satoshi, the true prophet.
4171  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Sent 20 BTC by mistake. Please help. on: January 27, 2015, 06:34:27 PM
There should be a BIG alert before every transaction to double check the amount you are selling, along with beign forced to put a small 4 digit number password (like a pin) for every transaction, so you double check you arent fucking it up.
4172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin irony on: January 27, 2015, 05:52:31 PM
This is ridiculous and what a way to kill the price and use other than using it as a tool of theft. Hey everybody lets use Bitcoin to steal government funds so we can get Bitcoin looked down upon by everyone and have tons of regulations and bans on it! This will be great and there will be no way to exchange it for local currency except in person which would be super sketch!

How about we keep Bitcoin the way it is and you get over your crazy idea to kill Bitcoin.
I think it's safe to say OP watches too many movies, given his post content and forum avatar.
One doesnt simply "crack into the FBI"..

4174  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Sent 20 BTC by mistake. Please help. on: January 27, 2015, 05:46:35 PM
Never operate with Bitcoins while drunk, lesson learned and one less Bitcoin user for life because now he's going to hate it for life.
4175  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What can ordinary men do to make Bitcoin grow? on: January 27, 2015, 05:14:45 PM
the answer is for people (and merchants) to use BTC as a preferred payment option. then the market can stabilize, in a good political/legal climate

I think asking to make it the preferred option is a lofty goal but just getting them to accept it is what we need. The bitcoin community is doing all it can to spread awareness and adoption but what we need is the rest of the world involved. I think this will happen but slowly over time. We just need patience and keep spreading the word.
Spreadin the word is all we can do. We cant pump the price, we cant make a church of bitcoin and brainwash people.. talk and wait its all we can do.
4176  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: On TV again on: January 27, 2015, 04:25:19 PM
Can anyone upload the winklevoss interview to youtube? its much better to share this way, in a lot of countries some of the tv channel websites are banned.
4177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Made a video on why every company will start accepting Bitcoin and other crypto on: January 27, 2015, 04:20:42 PM
Here's a link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zU67_4I45kQ

Let me know what you think, and thanks for checking it out!

Good video, agree on points, dont forget litecoin adoption is 2nd in the queue Smiley

Merchants dont like chargebacks, consumers want reversible transactions.

So how do you solve the reversible transaction thing? Afaik its not doable..
4178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Winklevii will become one of great capitalist barons of this century! on: January 27, 2015, 04:11:28 PM
If you think about it it doesnt matter if they become the gods of bitcoin in terms of wealth, what matters is as differently to fiat systems, the bitcoin system can and will not ever be compromised.
4179  Economy / Speculation / Re: <<< Bitcoin price tomorrow >>> on: January 26, 2015, 10:17:11 PM
The Winklevii are at the news talking about the new exchange, things are looking good, but it will take time to lift off, we still have time to buy 100-300 area for a long while IMO.
