No problem.

This one is UK based? I will definitely be buying at least one for myself but I don't mind potentially buying a bulk lot to try resell them on depending on mark up. I'll PM you shortly on my main account. Thanks.
4162  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: UK Members - Would you use a Bitcoin ATM? on: December 12, 2017, 09:13:11 AM
I'm actually thinking of opening up a brick and mortar retail business sometime next year and if I do I will definitely be putting a bitcoin ATM in it. Will be interesting to see if many people use it but hopefully it will garner quite a bit of interest because there's not many in the UK and especially up north. Does anyone have a list of companies that make them? Preferably European based. Need to start doing some research.
4163  Other / Meta / Re: How to increase Activity? on: December 12, 2017, 07:27:51 AM
Hi guys

how to know the date of activity increasing?

There's a spreadsheet with all the upcoming activity start dates in the following thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=582736.0
4164  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting Discussion Thread on: December 12, 2017, 06:39:21 AM
Yeah, I'll almost certainly do this as it gives everyone playing a chance to win something even if it's just their money back (though that 0.01 is worth a lot more than £20 now haha).

I was also thinking about a prize for those that get the most correct scores from one round but I don't think there's a way to easily and simply verify this as a person's individual choices don't seem to be revealed anywhere.
4165  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best and safe wallet on: December 12, 2017, 05:52:54 AM
Any wallets are only as safe as you are. I would usually recommend keeping coins offline in a physical hardeare wallet like a trezor or ledger nano etc but sometimes these are not the best options for a newcommer to bitcoin. If you're a newbie with little knowledge I would actually recommend blockhain.info. You can either use their web wallet or download the app for your phone and it's basically like Paypal but for bitcoin. If you set up all the security features such as 2-factor authentification and a second password/pin it is very safe. In fact, there's actually more security features on the blockchain app/website than there is on either my paypal or online banking accounts. Just remember to write your recovery seed down and keep it safe so you can still restore your coins even if you forget your password etc but also take note of my very first sentence.
4166  Other / Meta / Re: TIL Activity does not work on precisely 2 week intervals + interval timings on: December 12, 2017, 05:39:14 AM
If I cant reach the 14 post in 2 weeks? what it will happen ?

Nothing. You actually only need to make one post in an activity period to be able to collect all the activity at a later date, so no need to spam or try force yourself to make the posts.
4167  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting Discussion Thread on: December 11, 2017, 03:10:47 PM
What does everybody think about a small additional prize to the person who gets the most points from one round? There's enough cash to go round and I think it will make it worthwhile for those that feel they've got no chance of getting in the top five to keep on playing?

If I do it I'll probably start it from not this round but the next one maybe so we can keep track of who get the highest points from there onward.
4168  Other / Meta / Re: Politics & Society Forum has become off topic. on: December 11, 2017, 03:02:36 PM
It is impossible to have a real discussion or just to find and read an non shit thread in that sub.
TBH if i would be a mod i would probaly nuke 3/4 of all people posting there LOL

I nuke/permaban many people who are shitposting exclusively in there, but I'm just wasting my time really as they're like flies round shit that have laid eggs everywhere. You ban one account but they'll very likely spawn elsewhere from their stockpile army of alts that just carry on as if nothing ever happened. Having a few accounts banned is probably just accepted as an occupational hazard right now.

Maybe this thread gives one a clue as to the reason -
How popular are you at your school?

Perhaps it explains the low quality posts on some of the other boards. Note the use of the word "are". Smiley

Yeah, you can really tell the age of a lot of these kids (which is what they are). Imagine how stupid the average person is in their early teens - myself included - then imagine someone who can't even speak English very well and add on top of that a person who probably has very little knowledge or understanding of bitcoin other than his school mates told him you can earn a decent wage here just by posting and it's a recipe for disaster.

TBH if i would be a mod i would probaly nuke 3/4 of all people posting there LOL

Nuke one, and ten more pop up in their place. It's become a colossal game of Whac-a-Mole, and we mods are getting our butts kicked. Sad

I've used the phrase playing whack a mole with ghosts before. It's also like trying to plug holes on a sinking ship whilst you've got multiple other submarines torpedo-ing even more holes into the side constantly. How can you compete against that? It's pretty much pointless even banning people at this point because often times they just keep evading their ban on their numerous other accounts and admin's never look into alts.

Half of the boards have turned into off-topic/garbage boards. That section isn't special and it is not likely that much will be done given how theymos is handling, or rather isn't handling this situation.

We either need to really go gung-ho and crack down on all the abuse with very strict punishments for spammers and those that pay them to do so or just get rid of essentially 99% of the rules and just let the forum run itself into further into the ground. The latter is not something I think we should do but I can't be expected to try clean this place up all by myself.

Over 90% of the problem could be solved within 7 days with a few policy changes by theymos.

I've messaged theymos about some solutions and I'm hoping he'll get back to me soon but he rarely acts on these things as you well know. The signature guidelines was meant to be a way to put a stop to all the nonsense but it's futile if theymos won't enforce it. At the bare minimum crappy ICO campaigns that do nothing but pay spammers to post or copy and paste whatever crap they can be bothered to make need to be hardly punished. Once their accounts start getting banned and threads get trashed they'll soon get the message once their cash cow is threatened.
4169  Other / Meta / Re: Banned by promoting his signature campaign on: December 11, 2017, 02:48:34 PM
We should really start making family trees of bitcoin users when their brother/mother/sisters account are banned. And by brother you mean "brother", right? Because you have the exact same way of typing and you are also copy and pasting like he was:

Ethereum is another cryptocurrency, and one many people see as potentially overtaking Bitcoin as the dominant coin in the market the current price of eth is $466 as of now .. The difference between bitcoin and ethereum is the blockchain .Bitcoin's blockchain basically records a type of contract, one that says that some digital funds have moved from one digital address to another...Additionally, you can run some simple applications on top of Bitcoin's blockchain... But Ethereum expanded this significantly. Its scripting language is more advanced, and its smart contracts can be complex applications with a far wider range of uses.

You know the rules.
4170  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting Discussion Thread on: December 11, 2017, 02:10:52 AM
Thanks to the correct score of the Man derby I am at 60 points. This week was one of the worst for many people ,including me in the beginning but then thanks to this game of today I am on my average at 60-90 points weekly. Only 140 points divide the first 8 places, so 8th place is only 140 points from the top. Glad there is midweek action in Premier league.

Yeah, I also got just 60 points and none at all from the Sunday games though I needed Man city to just score another for a perfect score. Hopefully none of the bastards above me got m/any points cos I'm gunning to at least temporarily take the top spot.

Also, don't forget to put your scores in for the next round as the games start on tuesday.
4171  Other / Meta / Re: Are admins completely inactive or this is just me ? (Account Recovery) on: December 11, 2017, 02:03:20 AM
Okay, so I've contacted Cyrus on Novemeber 19. providing him signed message from my address that is 1+ year old (Oh yeah, my account is hacked btw). Then I sent message to Theymos on December 2. but still no reply from admins. Signature is valid, I don't see the point in posting it here, since I don't really want for you guys to neg my account, will have to message you after I get it back (hopefully) to remove the trust then. So the point of my thread, is it normal for everyone or it's just me ? (next week it will be a whole month)

It's completely normal unfortunately. Just keep bumping this thread every so often and you might get lucky but it's not uncommon to be waiting weeks/months/indefinitely.

You can post the signed message in here for others to check it verifies. If it does I can PM an admin to try get them to look into it.
4172  Other / Meta / Re: Politics & Society Forum has become off topic. on: December 11, 2017, 01:53:47 AM
I've been saying the exact same thing for months. It has become off topic v2.0 because most campaigns don't pay for off topic posts but they do in politics. I've literally seen people create threads in there such as 'do you prefer mountains or beaches' and 'would you chose your wife over your mother' etc. This is what happens when the forum is over run with south east asian shitposters who can barely speak English but need to find somewhere they can easily churn out rubbish to get paid.

Also, there is no mod of that sub forum but this is also something I've been urging for months.
4173  Other / Meta / Re: Question about reporting on: December 10, 2017, 06:42:42 PM
Yes, you can report them. I don't usually ban them if they've properly sourced the article but if all their posts are just posting articles to obviously and easily farm their account then I tend to give them a warning to stop first.
4174  Other / Meta / Re: Potential Activites gone? on: December 10, 2017, 04:18:06 PM
If you don't make a post in each activity period then you'll lose out on that activity forever. You can't just abandon your account and when you come back expect to collect all the activity points as that's not how the activity system works. In fact, it was designed to stop people from doing that as by its very name it is a measure of how active you have been here, not just how long you have been registered.
4175  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Forum moderation policy on: December 10, 2017, 03:09:14 PM
What will happen with the banned accounts?? how they can restore their accounts??

Which account? Depends what it was banned for but if it's permanent for breaking a rule there's nothing you can do. However, create a thread in Meta about it if you want clarification on a specific case.

But how hard is it to do a simple announcement...some people were freaking out during the maintenance, nothing was announced on twitter, on reddit, here or on their website...

They mentioned something about it on the previous page here:

Hello,

Brief update on upcoming developments at Kraken:

Thanks for bringing your business to Kraken!
4177  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: December 10, 2017, 02:00:19 PM
^ The bet looked good at the time.  Lol.

Giroud drew it tho and we're at stoppage time.  So it's now or never.  One more goal for the Gunners please!

Edit:  Meh.  Ref just blew the whistle.  Good game.  Still lost the bet.  Sad

Giroud is always a super sub and I have no idea why he doesn't start. I was really hoping he'd get another in injury time as I also needed Arsenal to get a goal for 1-2 on my predictor. Wonder if any others got that result? Arsenal have become pretty weak away from home so it's risky backing them.
4178  Other / Meta / Re: Forum profits and expenses on: December 10, 2017, 10:50:38 AM
I believe theymos has posted the info before in previous years and I think somebody else requested it (maybe redsn0w) within the last year or so (and I think theymos may have said he will release it once all the accounting is done (though don't quote me on that)). I also would like to know how much the forum takes in and actually profits on.

Mods are paid around ten to twelve thousand usd a month (divided between all active mods).

Mods are usually added as and when needed. I wouldn't be against promoting one or two of the top active reporters but I think a better solution first would be to distribute some of the workload between current staff (though that can be done in addition to making new mods).
4179  Other / Meta / Re: What are we going to do about the Shitposters? on: December 10, 2017, 10:35:23 AM
No, I don't think some sort of annual membership fee is a good idea and doubt theymos would go for it. Yes, some people will happily pay the fee on a few accounts if they can afford it, but the point is it severely restricts the number of accounts people will make because nobody is going to pay $100 for each of their dozens to hundreds of accounts (and if they do then fair play and the forum benefits financially). At the moment anyone can create an unlimited amount of accounts and this is a huge problem especially when people try be sneaky and farm them with bots or just shitpost which is easy to do in certain sections.

250$ is probaly nearly a months salary for the most 3rd world people here.
Lets see how many 3rd people can keep on shitposting and pay 100$ per banned account.

Exactly and this is the sort of abuse it will prevent. They'll be able to scrape together a hundred dollars or so to invest in an account and if they want to invest their hard earned sig money into more with their monthly earnings then be my guest. I think people will take better care with their accounts once they treat it as an investment and make better posts from just the one or two as opposed to creating as many as you want for free currently to bleed lazy crapcoin campaigns dry.
