4161  Other / Meta / Re: Moving to Cloudflare on: December 13, 2017, 05:22:29 PM
it isn't working

Yeah, I'm not sure it even works very well because every other website that uses it seems to have a lot of downtime and cloudflare errors. There's seemingly no difference between when we had theymos' own version and it's been especially bad today. Barely been able to use the site at all, so not sure how effective the service really is if the forum is still going to be unusable.
4162  Other / Meta / Re: UPDATE BITCOINTALK ACCOUNT WITH money on: December 13, 2017, 05:14:22 PM
This is something I look forward to. And if it does, I just hope that the price per status is affordable and not base on BTC. I know its a good idea to work hard and rev up the reputation or trust. However, there are legit people that can be trusted but mistreated due to its status (Jr. Member - Full Member). I saw some members that try their best to start a good reputation on this site, but they never got a chance due to this 'Status' thing.

I've suggested that it be pegged to fiat to avoid the same situation that happened with the current donator ranks.

Not currently but this is something I have suggested and hopefully will be implemented in the future like the copper member rank was. Though I don't think you should be able to buy the rank/title of Full Member etc but just the perks/benefits of one.

I think the ranking system shouldn't be touched, let's just keep it like that. However, creating new paid minerals status with the features of each ranks is acceptable.
Old members waited long time to get their actual rank, buying ranks upper than full member is just unfair Wink (tho it is ok for buying potential activity to become junior / member?)

Yeah, they should be separate from the current member ranks. Activity is actually a great system and you should have to earn that naturally over time, but I don't mind people paying for the perks. It's much better than them either just shitposting to rank up or buying an account from a shitposting farmer or hacker.
4163  Other / Meta / Re: Are admins completely inactive or this is just me ? (Account Recovery) on: December 13, 2017, 01:19:33 PM
Situation has been like this for a long time. I simply don't understand why more people do not recover accounts ?

Because there's only two admins with the power to do so and they are both swamped and don't have the time to look into everything that needs sorting. It's a shit situation but only theymos has the power to do something about this. I've told him that he should either promote someone else to admin or consider paying himself a reasonable wage and do admin duties full time because it's badly needed.

Even better why forum doesn't have any security features ? 2FA might be hard to implement on old platform but I mean at least require email verification before password change. Is it that hard to do ? I can personally code that in less than half an hour.

Some sort of 2-factor is also badly needed but I get that there's not much point implementing it on this forum with the new one in development (though if the new forum is still 1-2 years away still it probably should be put into place here in the meantime).
4164  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League Betting Pool v2.0 | Current pot: £240 on: December 13, 2017, 12:43:40 PM
Added all you guys to the op:

LTU_btc
Rinsend
Welsh
unyil

16 players so far with the current potential pot at £320. I'll probably start collecting money on the 28th or so. Spread the word. If we can get 20 players we'll likely do 5 place payouts. We're also going to be doing a bonus prize for the person who gets the most points from one round so even if you're pretty far down the table and it looks like there's no chance of you winning one of the top prizes you'll still be able to potentially win something by getting the most points in one week.

Follow the instructions there if you want it locked but you're going to have to sufficiently prove it's yours first. If you post the signed message in here it can be banned but if you want access to it restored you're going to have to PM an admin about it.
4166  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting Discussion Thread on: December 13, 2017, 07:27:00 AM
Crystal Palace screwed me over in the 89th minute not only for 40 points on a perfect score but they also cost me £170 from a ten pound bet on the Skybet enhanced crowdboosted threefold. Absolute bastards. Only ended up with ten points from the first three games.

Also, maybe tokeweed's suggestion to have it done every week can be implemented for V2.0? Maybe sort of a small part of the pot every week to the top scorer.

I'm not going to do it every week. There'd be no money left in the pot if we did that.

Did hilariousandco start the rewards for the highest points of the week last night.

No. I said above that I wouldn't be starting it this week. I will let everyone know when I do.
4167  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Looking for an exchange that does not take a year for verification on: December 13, 2017, 07:21:28 AM
Kraken's verification is disabled Sad

I have applied to:

Bitfinex
Bitstamp
Coinsbank
Coinfloor
DSX

TheRock trading sign up is also disabled!

Are there any reps on here that might be able to help?

Have you tried local bitcoins? I think there's minimal verification required but I think it's the sellers that can choose what sort of verification they require. You can easily buy there online with your debit card and it has a built in escrow for protection. Alternatively, you can just try find someone through there locally and meet up with them for either cash or direct bank transfer.

This one: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2575281.msg26230482#msg26230482

If you can see it's then it's obviously there but it's not going to be on the first page any more seeing as it got no replies.
4169  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: UK Members - Would you use a Bitcoin ATM? on: December 12, 2017, 07:17:09 PM
Does anyone have a list of companies that make them? Preferably European based. Need to start doing some research.

In that case here's a site where most manufacturers are listed: https://coinatmradar.com/manufacturers.

Wow thanks. That's exactly what I needed. Looks like I've got some research to be doing.

To add on, Aside from the lack of awareness, bitcoin ATM machines didn't really boomed in my country because of the high fees so you might wanna adjust it.

The fees are how you make your money though. I think they benefit newbies who are scared of using exchanges and they will often pay a premium to avoid them. With that being said, I would try to keep the fees reasonable but I'd want the machine to actually pay for itself as well as bring in traffic to the store.

Mind telling us what kind of business is it? What are you planning to offer? Just a suggestion, but I really think that a combination of a brick and mortar plus an e-commerce would be good.

It would be a sports nutrition aka protein/supplement and/or vape shop, unless I think of anything better (though both are two of the fastest growing industries in Britain right now). I just want to invest my money into my own business of some sort but I'm certainly open to suggestions for other avenues.
4170  Other / Meta / Re: Can someone tell me why this post was 'deleted' by a moderator? on: December 12, 2017, 07:01:46 PM
You were making multiple posts in a row which are both unnecessary and against the rules:

32. Posting multiple posts in a row (excluding bumps and reserved posts by the thread starter) is not allowed.

to this forum to meet signature requirements.

And this is the problem right here.

Thus I am curious why this post was removed.  I would rather discuss my interests than write useless and trivial forced stuff.

You're welcome and encouraged to do that. Just don't try to meet those requirements by multiposting and posts won't be removed. You can edit the removed posts into your previous one if you wish.
4171  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Looking for an exchange that does not take a year for verification on: December 12, 2017, 04:30:34 PM
What ones did you try? The only one I can recommend is Kraken and it didn't take me that long to get verified as I recall, but waiting is probably something you will have to do on most exchanges due to the huge influx of new users trying to jump on board and buy bitcoins. I know you said you didn't want to use Coinbase and I wouldn't recommend them either, but their verification process is quite fast and computer processed I believe. Whether you'll be able to very your bank easily with them is another matter though and their customer service is terrible and has likely probably only got worse recently unless they've hired hundreds of new reps.

That one? Maybe one of the local mods locked it if they felt the question has been answered or asked a hundred times. Or perhaps you locked it yourself accidentally which happens from time to time. If you locked it yourself then you can unlock it at the bottom left, but if you can't then contact one of your mods about it for an explanation.
4173  Other / Meta / Re: Politics & Society Forum has become off topic. on: December 12, 2017, 01:11:19 PM

Not surprisingly he's copy and pasting as well, as do the vast majority of those Politics & Society shitposters:

Yes, Bitcoin is one step above ETH in the market cryptocurrency market. Bitcoin is the most accepted cryptocurrency worldwide, has the biggest market cap, biggest trading volume, and it has proven to be more profitable than ethereum in the long-term (this allows btc to get an influx of new money more frequently), so inverstors and the like are more 'attracted' to btc. ETH price was stagnated for a long time but It's only now that is gaining more attention due its surge in the price and faster transactions/low fees. It is true that Ethereum is the biggest altcoin in the market,  but I think it's fair to say that Btc, with almost 54% dominance in the market, is the most important cryptocurrency in the world, and there's a reason why Ethereum is considered just an "altcoin".

Is Bitcoin More Important Than Ethereum?

18 year's old and from the Philippines (as the vast majority of copy and pasters are, sadly). I bet he's not even 18 either but just said that because he's scared you have to be an adult here or something.

Gonna go through that thread and ban/nuke all the other shitposters. I often wonder if there's some site that is telling people to sign up here and just copy and paste posts or are they just smart enough to figure out that's all they have to or can do if they can't speak English or be bothered to write original content? Or maybe, as I mentioned before, the news of this forum must be spreading like wildfire through the playgrounds of schools in Asia and I guess they just get told to copy and paste an older post if they can't speak English very well which I'm guessing the majority of Filipino teenagers can't.

In all seriousness this is starting to get beyond a joke. If theymos doesn't do something about it soon the majority of this forum will be unusable.

It really is. I honestly can't tell whether theymos is oblivious to the problems here because he's not that active at all or just doesn't care or can be bothered with all the headaches.
4174  Economy / Collectibles / Re: A new 2-sided Bitcoin Keychain on: December 12, 2017, 09:23:16 AM
No problem.

This one is UK based? I will definitely be buying at least one for myself but I don't mind potentially buying a bulk lot to try resell them on depending on mark up. I'll PM you shortly on my main account. Thanks.
4175  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: UK Members - Would you use a Bitcoin ATM? on: December 12, 2017, 09:13:11 AM
I'm actually thinking of opening up a brick and mortar retail business sometime next year and if I do I will definitely be putting a bitcoin ATM in it. Will be interesting to see if many people use it but hopefully it will garner quite a bit of interest because there's not many in the UK and especially up north. Does anyone have a list of companies that make them? Preferably European based. Need to start doing some research.
4176  Other / Meta / Re: How to increase Activity? on: December 12, 2017, 07:27:51 AM
Hi guys

how to know the date of activity increasing?

There's a spreadsheet with all the upcoming activity start dates in the following thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=582736.0
4177  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting Discussion Thread on: December 12, 2017, 06:39:21 AM
Yeah, I'll almost certainly do this as it gives everyone playing a chance to win something even if it's just their money back (though that 0.01 is worth a lot more than £20 now haha).

I was also thinking about a prize for those that get the most correct scores from one round but I don't think there's a way to easily and simply verify this as a person's individual choices don't seem to be revealed anywhere.
4178  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best and safe wallet on: December 12, 2017, 05:52:54 AM
Any wallets are only as safe as you are. I would usually recommend keeping coins offline in a physical hardeare wallet like a trezor or ledger nano etc but sometimes these are not the best options for a newcommer to bitcoin. If you're a newbie with little knowledge I would actually recommend blockhain.info. You can either use their web wallet or download the app for your phone and it's basically like Paypal but for bitcoin. If you set up all the security features such as 2-factor authentification and a second password/pin it is very safe. In fact, there's actually more security features on the blockchain app/website than there is on either my paypal or online banking accounts. Just remember to write your recovery seed down and keep it safe so you can still restore your coins even if you forget your password etc but also take note of my very first sentence.
4179  Other / Meta / Re: TIL Activity does not work on precisely 2 week intervals + interval timings on: December 12, 2017, 05:39:14 AM
If I cant reach the 14 post in 2 weeks? what it will happen ?

Nothing. You actually only need to make one post in an activity period to be able to collect all the activity at a later date, so no need to spam or try force yourself to make the posts.
4180  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting Discussion Thread on: December 11, 2017, 03:10:47 PM
What does everybody think about a small additional prize to the person who gets the most points from one round? There's enough cash to go round and I think it will make it worthwhile for those that feel they've got no chance of getting in the top five to keep on playing?

If I do it I'll probably start it from not this round but the next one maybe so we can keep track of who get the highest points from there onward.
