4181  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Vanity Addresses! on: December 11, 2015, 09:44:38 AM
Can I get an address in case sensitive prefix with 1King111 for free? If you agree I'll be sending you the public key via PM Smiley

Thanks.

No, but for 0.0087 btc. (assuming exact case)

What about 1king111 (all in lower case) ?

Can I get it for free?

Thanks again.

No, but for 0.3887 btc (exact case). Note that most lower case and some upper case chars after the first 1 are significantly harder.

1King111 has a diff of 873,388,193,410
1king111 has a diff of 51,529,903,411,245

I sent it a few hours ago, then I tried again with a much higher fee. it still hasn't gone through. I have no pending transactions in my client (bitcoin core 0.11.2 64bit)

Any ideas?

Thanks!!

The first has a fee that is too low, the second requires the first to confirm, because it uses on of the coins created yb the first wallet.
4183  Other / Off-topic / Re: Question about PGP keys on: December 11, 2015, 09:28:30 AM
I hardly use PGP on windows, but IIRC you need to use kleopatra for this.

Anyway before I try to help you with something I dont really know, this -> https://www.gpg4win.org/doc/en/gpg4win-compendium.html
should help.
4184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How long will 1 year 25 weeks take to download (file size?) on: December 11, 2015, 09:23:34 AM
Does anyone know how much would it take me to download the full wallet from 0? I have only 20mb/s of internet connection, is it going to take like a year?

Certainly not a year no. Even slow old laptops where the bottleneck is the CPU only take up to a week.
4185  Other / MultiBit / Re: upgrade from MultiBit 0.5.16 on: December 11, 2015, 09:21:25 AM
hi, im a very irregular user of the BitCoin network and MultiBit so my questions my sound very basic......

I downloaded MultiBit 0.5.16 and use it as my BitCoin s/w. I created my wallet with name and password and it works just fine.

I funded my wallet and have used it for a a few transactions over the last 12 months.  I think it is now out of date but I'm not sure.

Why does the s/w not check for the latest version?

What is the lastest version and where do I get it from.

any help would be appreciated, thanks
bityjim

From the version number I think you are using multibit classic[1]. The latest Multibit Classic is 0.5.19. There is a complete new multibit now, but the classic version is still supported and gets crucial security updates AFAIK. It might be a good idea for you to advance to the new version. It includeds automated reminders on updates.

4186  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: USB KILLER For Sale pay with Bitcoin - possible scam on: December 11, 2015, 09:11:27 AM
This just... uh, why would you need it? If I wanted to steal someone's data, I'd rip out the HDD and steal ALL of it, not waste time trying to search the drive while trying to remain hidden. I doubt criminals often go "I need to sit here for an hour looking for info!"

This does not steal data, it destroys the computer[1,2]. For all I know the device itself is legit, but I didnt try to buy one so I cant attest for the site itself.

Nevermind confused with a similarly named device. See e.g. the post below.

He says, 'we are all satoshi', that could mean that this isn't the real Satoshi. He must sign a message or it is just a troll trying to make a bit fun.

It means: stop looking for an authority figure to solve your issues kids, learn to walk.

Lastly, you yourself were an unlucky one?

I think theymos was already close to 2000 when the change happened, the above data is most likely calculated from the secret seed. Filtered for already legendary accounts first of course.

I fell for that as well. I would really appreciate if threads started here would follow the suggested format[1] more often.

4192  Economy / Reputation / Re: Should this Op of this thread get negged ? on: December 10, 2015, 01:02:50 PM
Dunno if this is the right place to post this.

Well I'm uncertain if the Op said he would pay a bounty for information about a pair of sunglasses he would reward the closeist with $15 after 48 hours.

Am I being to trigger happy ?

For reference #13:

Closest answer wins. I'll leave this thread open for 48 hours and then declare the winner.

as well as the entire thread -> https://archive.is/0Aq2r

I will leave a rating, but honestly the lot in the thread pretty much asked to get scammed. Everyone freely provided possible answers without a single one even posting the word escrow.

I never used an escrow nor would i.
I trust the people i trade with.
WOW what a concept huh..

NO i have not had a bad trade ever either.
So what now we're going to give people negative trust for NOT "talking" about Escrow's ?  Roll Eyes

Yes, I gave everyone in that thread a negative rating because they did not insist on escrow. I think you are smarter than this.

DO i have to point out the obvious ?

People with no reputation should not be doing deals.. if you choose to work with a noob then it's your prerogative / risk.

Yes and a common way for this is to involve someone with reputation.

4193  Local / Anfänger und Hilfe / Re: Falsche Adresse schicken? on: December 10, 2015, 12:14:06 PM

4195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I am running 11.0 how do I go to 11.2? on: December 10, 2015, 12:06:29 PM
I know the slow way  just delete and start from beginning. takes a long time. P.I.T.A.

I run a full node 24/7

I have been poking at my 11.0 and don't see an upgrade setting.

So do I do it all over again?

Or is there some kind of upgrade that I am missing.

#1 close bitcoin core
#2 install latest version
#3 continue with old wallet file, blockchain data and settings.

The above should have set you up with a fixed IP for the machine. Now to make sure the router is configured correctly. Since I dont know that particular router, I had to search and found this[1] guide. Looks pretty straight forward. The settings in the last picture for you are:

Code:
Name: Bitcoin core
Start Port: 8333
End Port: 8333
Protocol: TCP
IP Address: <the one you set following knightdk's advice>

If you already did this, you should confirm the settings are correct.

4198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How long will 1 year 25 weeks take to download (file size?) on: December 10, 2015, 10:47:48 AM
It is possible to copy wallet.dat from Bitcoin Core without syncing it up to date and use it in another wallet instead for quick acces? For example some in simplified validation wallet (Electrum, Multibit)?

Not directly, you would have to export (via bitcoin core) or extract (e.g. with pywallet) the private keys first. Afterwards you can import them in any programm that allows this. E.g. Multibit HD no longer allows importing keys (Classic did) and Electrum 2 forces you to create a different wallet for the imported keys. This is mainly to make it blatantly obvious that imported keys are not covered by the seeds.
4199  Other / Meta / Re: Hilarious bots posting nonsense: what's the point? on: December 10, 2015, 10:43:03 AM
These bots are so annoying but what they post is sometimes quite enjoyable to read. But now it's just spam bots posting in Spanish which is just very annoying. Hope the mods ban all of these bots. They get nuked in like 2 minutes though. lol.

Maybe some day they will create a beautiful haiku.

Urban dictionary is not a creditable source. Anyone would know that. It is basically like wikipedia which is an online source made by everyone, for everyone. Ask a teacher who has been a teacher for several years in the art of journalism. They will tell you the same words I'm telling you. You'll need a creditable source such as Google or Webster.

Google is a credible source? Please tell your teacher they need to quit their job. Anyway. No they dont need a credible source, in fact the staff here needs no source at all. They can just define spam in the way that is to be understood here. It might be confusing for some, it might even be irritating for some, but there is no need to have credible source for the rules of a private forum.
Please refrain from belittling teachers for doing their jobs correctly. You do not have a degree in teaching journalism, so you have no right to belittle any of the teachers I know of.

In fact I do, have a right to belittle anyone that I deem fit to be belittled. Teaching Google as a credible source would explain Fox News though.

This is not a private forum if it is open to the public for anyone to sign up.

Still private, even if the doors are open.

Therefore, it does not belong to one single person.

Thats not a requirement for private property, what you have in mind is personal property.

If it did, only one person would log in, which would not make it a forum. When describing Bitcoin or Bitcoin forums, refrain from terms such as "private" in order to avoid this currency or this forum having a very excluding image. We need diversity, and we need a large community.  We need people to join, and not feel intimidated to do so. That is how the currency grows.
