4181  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 6950 mining, card crippled now. Will try to bake on: February 29, 2012, 04:15:58 PM
Well yeah, then gpu chip is dying/almost dead. Desktop requires almost zero load from card. But shader units are still ok it seems - you still can mine with it with same performance. So, most probably its not mining killed the card. Well, its a lesson - never try to unlock shaders, never run it with custom "homebrewed" bios and mine with underclocked mem/max possible undervolting.

unlocking shaders in a 6950 is ok, only running a 6970 bios isn't
4182  Other / Off-topic / Re: Butterfly Labs - Bitforce Single and Rig Box on: February 28, 2012, 04:58:05 PM
@Energizer: We do test all the units for a minimum of 12 hours prior to shipping. This is our endurance test
that is done in a harsh environment to make sure the unit is stable and will not encounter any problem in its
lifetime.
Regards,

Can you define 'harsh environment'? Temperature, humidity?
12h is not much, even some of my rigs used to crash after ~15h if they weren't stable (I know bitforce != mining rig, but I would still leave it for at least 2 or 3 days)
4183  Economy / Services / Re: Shades Minoco / Shakaru / Collections / Debt on: February 27, 2012, 10:02:18 PM
So... shakaru you're owing over $18 000.. does that mean that you were scammed for amounts totaling $18k minus that 3-5GH/s of hardware he mentioned few posts back?
4184  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 6950 mining, card crippled now (3btc bounty) on: February 27, 2012, 12:10:49 PM
Reflow means melting the joints that join whatever is on the PCB to the PCB itself. In many heat/cool routines, the joints can become stressed and crack. Liquifying, or reflowing, them removes these cracks and completes the circuit.

Yes, but it is only a matter of time before the problem returns and you have to do it again, next time it won't that long.
It can work for a few weeks or a few months.

I thought those were never released..

That's why I'm asking ;]

Ok, logged in...... and the same thing as 3 weeks ago

can't add any workers
can't add slush, get '756: unexpected token at ' or 40x errors, where 'x' there's 0, 2 or 4
can't mine solo
4187  Economy / Services / Re: GPUMAX | The Bitcoin Mining Marketplace on: February 26, 2012, 10:13:15 PM

PM sent.
4188  Economy / Services / Re: GPUMAX | The Bitcoin Mining Marketplace on: February 26, 2012, 09:36:52 PM
I got an invite 3 weeks ago, logged in but didnt use gpumax because it was buggy at that time, so I wanted to check it out again today.
Forgot the password I tried to reset it I get this:

I also tried to follow the activation link again and set up a password for the 2nd time but it doesn't work (the link works but the screen only refreshes when I click 'continue')

Or, how long should I wait to get some email with pwd reset?
4189  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT version 0.5 - Easy USB based mining Linux with farm wide management tools on: February 26, 2012, 02:16:41 PM
I know there are issues with usb boot on gigabyte boards, especially newer ones so I'd like to ask: has anyone tried with MA790X-UD3P? I have a 965P-S3 which runs fine but can buy the MA790X-UD3P quite cheap. I want to be sure I''ll be able to run bamt on it.

I wonder if this helps in case it doesn't?

http://chromasoft.blogspot.com/2010/10/solving-dreaded-gigabyte-wont-boot-from.html

or are there specific BIOS version that will work?

I also wondered if anyone tried alternative boot managers? Plop or sth like that?
4190  Economy / Services / Re: Shades Minoco / Shakaru / Collections / Debt on: February 25, 2012, 11:33:22 PM
I already added you to the list already.

I know, just wanted to post my BTC address for imsaguy and for everyone so we can see who got paid, and state that I don't want to gamble on volatility of USD/BTC exchange ratio and want exaclty $200.
4191  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: NamecoinGUI (with bitcoin support) - v0.5.0.18 on: February 25, 2012, 11:23:11 PM
I have a problem with namecoingui it keeps connecting and can't connect ever since I wanted to run it when I was low on memory but now I have enough and still the same.
namecoin rescan doesn't work, namecoind freezes, reinstalling namecoind will work?
4192  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Need a little riser help... on: February 25, 2012, 11:20:02 PM
Just find some cable or wire, below 10cm will be enough, take of the rubber isolation at the ends and put both ends into A1 and B17 (look at the picture which ones are those), make sure you don't insert them anywhere else. You might want to unplug everything that gets in your way unless you are very skinny.
4193  Economy / Services / Re: Shades Minoco / Shakaru / Collections / Debt on: February 25, 2012, 11:08:47 PM
I'm okay with imsaguy

1Had6sXS7dZNCGiHm1LmX4shEYmieWcf3E

I'd just like to ask him to look up mtgox exchange rates few minutes before sending payments and adjust them accordingly.

I have bought a 2GH/s 6 month contract from shakaru in August, got back most of the money in October (I only asked for the amount I paid him, not the expected output of the contract) but there is $200 still left. So if BTC falls to $3 I'd like to get 66.66666666 BTC, if it increases to $10 I'd like to get 20 BTC, so only the exact amount. It is also because I did not pay him in BTC but with with USD by PayPal.
If the price increased to $10, shakaru would owe over twice as much money and it would take even longer to repay. Of course if it decreased it would be quicker but we would all get less money (cpt. obvious).
As I was one of the first to send him the money for a contract that was not delivered and the amount left is now little, I asking to be (one of) the first to get paid.

4194  Other / Off-topic / Re: Contest: Guess BFL delivery date, win 2 BTC! on: February 25, 2012, 07:31:11 PM
Got it, thanks! Never thought I'd win  Grin
4195  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Compiled Undervolting Results on: February 25, 2012, 12:43:57 PM
ATM I ran all my 5830s, 5850s and 5870s @ stock voltage but I have to undervolt one card, a HD 6770 because it's placed in a very uncomfortable place with almost no air to inhaust

Miner: guiminer (phoenix with modified phatk for 2.6 sdk)
OC software: barelyclocked
Card: HD 6770
Core: 775 (stock)
Memory: 180 (stock was 1000)
Voltage: 0.8V (stock was 1.125V)
MH/s: 170
Wattage: Huh
4196  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: List of motherboard that require shorting pin A1 B17 for pci-e 1x to work. on: February 24, 2012, 11:07:39 PM
Asus P5Q-E, both PCIe x1 slots require shorting A1 with B17 pins (unless you hot plug the GPU but then it doesn't always work for some reason)
extenders I use are not powered and are 19cm if this information is of any use for you
4197  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Motherboards: What Works w/Four or More GPUs? List Them on: February 24, 2012, 10:47:48 PM
WHAT WORKS
1)
Motherboard Brand: Asus
Motherboard Model & PCIe Slots: P5Q-E, 3x PCIe x16 and 2x PCIe x1
Power Supply Brand & Model: Corsair TX850v2
Number & Model GPUs: max. 5GPUs tested so far: 3x HD 5850 1GB @ 945/280/1.088 + 1x HD 5830 800/200/0.9V + 1x HD 6770 @ 825/180/0.82V
Extender Cables w/Molex Power?: 5850s and 5830 on extenders and HD 6770 in PCIe x16 slot
none of the extenders are powered

PCIe x1 slots require shorting pins (A1-B17).

Max. 4 GPUs under 12.1, 5 GPUs (all pcie slots are used) under previous driver versions.

2)

WHAT WORKS
Motherboard Brand: Gigabyte
Motherboard Model & PCIe Slots: GA-965-S3, 1x PCIe x16 and 3x PCIe x1
Power Supply Brand & Model: Tagan TG1000-U33II 1000W
Number & Model GPUs: 3x HD 5870 between 910 and 1000/210 + 1x HD 5850 900/300 all stock voltage
Extender Cables w/Molex Power?: 5870 on normal unpowered extenders, 5850 in slot

NOTE: the x16 slot stopped working (no device in that slot gets recognized) after a few weeks and now only PCIe x1 slots work
4198  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Core undervolting/overvolting on multi HD 6950 setup on: February 24, 2012, 10:27:53 PM
You can still try:

ati tray tools
barelyclocked

same tools as previously but on different drivers
I was unable to change voltage on my 5850s until I updated my drivers
4199  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Selling 2 ghs miners near Philly on: February 24, 2012, 07:11:47 PM
where did you buy 6890s?
4200  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 6950 mining, card crippled now (3btc bounty) on: February 24, 2012, 06:59:02 PM

Its not the motherboard. I know that for sure. The oven method I have not tried. I am not experienced with that. I've read about people doing it for different things. It creates a "re-flow" of something so that the electrical condition is better. I'll google it but please tell me more about this and what it might fix

Edit: I did google it. I am considering this. Bake it at 385 for 8  minutes maybe longer. I didn't see a consensus online but 8-10 minutes seemed to be it. I might just try this.
