Nice giveaway. Really hard to understand this project. Some people says it is a pyramid, some says it is ingenious idea. Want to try by myself.

i dont think those things are mutually exclusive
4183  Economy / Economics / Re: volatility, can it really be overcome? on: December 27, 2013, 01:56:01 AM
a better question is "does it matter?". price your goods in ounces of gold and use bitcoin to move value not store it. to make an analogy, bitcoin should be your checking account, not your savings account.

Does anyone else think this might have been a friendly DDoS?

It caused Cfb to tighten up the software and it caused us to strengthen the network with an explosion of new nodes and many more in the works.  If someone really wanted to embarrass Nxt, they could have waited until we were out of alpha stage and they could have hit us with a much stronger attack.  If it's malicious, why bring it on early and easy?  It has done us no harm and quite a bit of good.

I think your analysis of how it was on net helpful is accurate but i doubt it was intended to be helpful. probably just an amateur.

thanks for distributing: 5287344482094741030

Major issue with alt-coins: early adopters obtain vast stakes discouraging new adopters from committing to an alt-coin.

Idea:  Create an alt-coin where the mining algorithm is user count based.  Each time a certain number of new users participate in the coin, the next block is paid across the install base.  Difficulty (number of new users before the next block) can increase over time (more broad adoption).  This would reward those who participate for the long term and work to drive adoption.

Love feedback.

definitely a real person  Smiley

This will be a way to keep the price for a while @dgex in check, a severe bubble pop just before the code launch would not be good..

hey klee do you mind if i undercut you with 80k? i really want to recoup my initial investment so i can sleep soundly at night knowing i have nothing to lose and im so close to getting there.  Grin
4189  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [BOUNTY] Announcements for Nxt (the first pure POS coin) on: December 26, 2013, 08:32:05 PM
did anyone else receive a bounty payout?
Are you in hurry for dump-selling? Wink
As I said I ll send soon.

Oh sorry I must have missed that message. Not dump selling, i believe in NXT. I am however selling just enough to cover my initial investment. 80k left to go at these prices and i can sleep like a baby at night knowing i have nothing to lose Grin

Thanks Smiley

the drawback to having fast confirmation time is that it leads to a lot of orphan chains meaning that confirmations arnt actually very secure at all. you get lots of confirmations sure, but you never have any idea whether you are actually on the right chain at any given time so what good do those confirmations do you?

PS: Thanks for doing this. After some initial skepticism I started getting into NXT a few days ago and fully believe in this project now. Hope to get more involved in the future when the source code is released.

we shall see shan't we! my contention is that its a serious gamble but a smart one.
