4181  Economy / Economics / Re: Roubini Warns about the Incoming Stagflation on: June 25, 2020, 12:26:26 AM
With all the uncertainty with regards to the consequences of the action of today, the specific thing would be the catching up of the inflation crisis part. I think you cannot entirely escape the fact that it's inevitable, we don't have it yet, but it's everywhere. Remember it's not just the US but the whole world is "solving" the problem in that kind of way, printing money out of thin air. I think we cannot blame them entirely but it's the responsibility of the government. These hard times, it's hard to get focused on the infrastructures and school systems. Focusing on one aspect would be good enough right now, the health-care system.

It's not pessimistic, IMO. It's realistic.  Roll Eyes
4182  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: COVID-19 a reason for Bitcoin adoption? on: June 25, 2020, 12:15:53 AM
Since we are still new to the current normal and with this pandemic in our hands, it's quite realistic to see and understand that it's the time to leave physical money behind. That's the critical part of the proposed contactless payments and anything related to that. So I voted in the poll, realistic since it's the ideal time to do this and shift everything into digital. We have the technology already, and we just have to implement it.
4183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Geotagging on: June 24, 2020, 03:29:50 PM
This would be a fun idea if I understood what you are trying to point out, OP.

So what I thought about this topic is like regular treasure hunting but only with Bitcoin. Someone would “plant” a QR code of some sort that requires you to be there, hence the geotagging, then unlocking it by scanning as well.

Could it be close to that?
4184  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcointalk Charity Program Signature Campaign - Give Hope To Everyone... on: June 24, 2020, 02:23:54 PM
There special flights for OFW and other people who are trap in Metro Manila that lives in the province.
I know someone but the other way around. I have a friend who works in Palawan and was stuck there during the ECQ phase and GCQ phase and he is still there. He is upset because he wasn't with his family during the crucial times that he is needed. It's really sad. I asked him how he was and told me that he is going to back in Metro Manila in July. It was expensive but that was his only choice.

People are not waiting inside the airport/port but outside the perimeter.
I want to check this out, maybe there's something that could be done even in a little way. It could be the next project but it's going to be more challenging.
4185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hashrate is dropping on: June 24, 2020, 06:44:42 AM
Maybe it is the current situation that we are in now or some personal issues around themselves. But thinking about their investments towards the mining gears that they have, they could have changed into another coin and mine more than what they could if it is compared to bitcoin right now. At the end of the day, it is getting a profit is the priority over all.
4186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: John Cantrell revealed how he successfully hacked bitcoin wallet on: June 24, 2020, 05:09:41 AM
Bruteforce is a sure way to hack anything but it's another task how many devices and centuries you'll need to hack it.
Well, luck plays a major role in brute-forcing stuff. I don’t know. You could unlock a couple of wallets and maybe stumble upon a wallet that has crypto in it. It’s not ideal, but it could happen. Certainly not in our lifetime, though. People should be aware of that kind of possibility, but the chances are minuscule.
4187  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A trading chart does not play out to 100% on: June 24, 2020, 02:59:50 AM
One of the problems with many traders is that they want a trading system that is highly accurate and that is very difficult to achieve, it seems traders cannot simply accept that they are going to be wrong on their predictions and worry more about that than about their stated goal of making money from the markets.
It is not just traders that want an accurate system but also the investors where they could make money out of it. It’s impossible to have a 100% Accuracy, and no one will ever achieve it just because of the unpredictability of the market.

This is where backtesting enters the stage, since it can allow you to test your strategy against hundreds of markets at different points in history and see how your strategy will perform, if it performs positively then it should be expected that it performs positively over the long term as well if you implemented it, but as you may guess the only way to backtest your strategy in such a way will be to be able to get the necessary data and create some code to do it for you, otherwise the backtest will be incomplete and full of biases.
Even if you backed tested a couple of times or even 1 million times, it’s not a guarantee that you could get that same success rate due to previous times. Something could occur almost the same way, but it’s not 100% the same. Pine scripts are being made for those kinds of testing, but it’s still not perfect.
4188  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-06-23] Bitcoin name and logo patented in Spain on: June 24, 2020, 01:46:50 AM
In the article, it seems like he is a hero. He said that if ever someone uses the logo or the name for a scam, he will try and defend the title of Bitcoin. From my Google search about scams relating to Bitcoin in Spain, it seems there were a lot of people that were affected by this.

The title is wrong - it was trademarked, not patented.
The writer may have not known the difference between the two just because of the title. Additionally, the author might have confused it since the office that granted the Trademark is called "Spanish Patent and Trademark Office"
4189  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trade by yourself on: June 24, 2020, 01:12:21 AM
I do not think that subscribing to signal groups is terrible, but it’s kind of trial and error method in which where you could just see other people's analysis instead of creating your own. It’s better to understand that to learn something, you need to have experience with it, and a great trading tool would be efficient in learning IMO.

I learned trading with the assistance of Gunbot and how you could simulate different start and what you need to do to adapt to the current market.

4190  Economy / Speculation / Re: Now BTC Price will drop or up? on: June 23, 2020, 11:13:15 PM
Personally, I would like to see a price going up to $10500 Just because of the recent movements. I saw the latest news about PayPal wanting and boosting the image of bitcoin, saying that it could go around $12,000. Maybe it could provide a boost in people's interest to get Cryptos or something knowing the reputation of PayPal is well known to many people around the world.

4191  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcointalk Charity Program Signature Campaign - Give Hope To Everyone... on: June 23, 2020, 02:22:37 PM
Next week, I will start again my trading and I will allocate 10% of my monthly profit in this charity. I'm very sorry for being late in noticing this charity thread since I rarely browse on Services section here. I hope that there's a local version of this thread in every country to spread world about charity.
This 10% could go a long way in for the charity. It's going to be a great help especially for those who need it. I think there are different translations for different local boards, I'm not sure how many though.

I have a suggestion on your next activity. I hope that you can help too those who are stranded on the airport and port that want to go back to there province. Some of them has no money to buy ticket since they are deported from abroad and no money left due to this pandemic.
This is an interesting thing but it would be hard to get access to the airport area especially there are precautions and security around it. If it's going to be money it can be sent or something. Are airports operating as usual already during this pandemic?
4192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Look before taking a leap on: June 23, 2020, 02:03:52 PM
Copycating over and over...
This is probably the result of a project where it has been successful and now other developers are copying it and you cannot stop the developers who copy it because they want that kind of success too and they would try to get the market share of the original one.

I kind of view this with the different cryptocurrencies. If Bitcoin wasn't created, there wouldn't be altcoins in the world. Altcoins were created to replace Bitcoin but it still is the strongest just because it's the first.

It's continuously going to happen if there are innovations around us, that's just how humans do it, I guess.
4193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: John Cantrell revealed how he successfully hacked bitcoin wallet on: June 22, 2020, 09:19:37 AM
I think if you have the machine to do what it takes to input all of the possible phrase words included in one wallet, it's possible. It just takes processing power and time for sure. I don't know if that article is just to "add" into the list of Cointelegraph's list of articles, but the title makes it seem that Bitcoin could be hacked, and it reflects negatively to new users IMO. We all know that most people base their opinions on just the title itself. It happens here in the forum as well, lol.
4194  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: JPMorgan Says Bitcoin Crash Survival Shows It Has Staying Power on: June 22, 2020, 03:03:17 AM
It's a great thing for us. For Bitcoin supporters, as more people will invest and more usage of any type of cryptocurrency, it will be accepted more by people. It's not as they see it where it's being used for scams or something like that. If there are more big companies who would support it, it is for the better overall. It's no surprise for me to see people HODL-ing. That's probably why there are less means of exchange because many people want the price to go even higher.
4195  Other / Meta / Re: Meriting: local boards posters vs rest of boards posters on: June 21, 2020, 12:11:42 PM
I do think some members have an advantage when there are a lot of local merit sources that could give actual merit to the posters. I think there's no problem with that if it goes to the write people and the post is meritable. I think there are fair merit sources everywhere.

There are still merit givers in those boards, not just as much compared to the local ones. We could see the fact that most of the new posts on the boards that you mentioned are somewhat already been discussed over and over again.
4196  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Vietnam bursts an illegal casino who used to handle bets worth $3 billions on: June 21, 2020, 07:06:56 AM
No problem bro, it was just a (very funny) joke.  Cheesy
BTW do you know, or someone else, urls of casinos in the deep web ?
In my country we must report to the tax authorities every single account able to receive cryptos we open.  Sad
No worries. It's an "okay" joke. Lol

I don't know, I'm not particularly participating in deep web stuff, especially relating to gambling. Anyways, the tax in your country might be hard to track in terms of how many holdings you have, etc? Isn't it? Or it's voluntary as well when it comes to that?
4197  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 20-Year-Old Robinhood Customer Dies By Suicide After Seeing A $730,000 Negative on: June 21, 2020, 06:29:45 AM
I don't think the customer is dumb enough about trading that he gets assigned that type of account? Maybe something happened behind the scenes that were not published in any news article out there. Think about it, how would someone, a big corporation or a trading firm, trust a 20-year-old with that kind of money? For sure, he has some other issues that might affect his reasoning and thinking that it's the only way out.

That's what people should learn is to be calm with what happens, thinking clearly would've been better. If he wasn't that reliable on the app itself, he might notice that there's something wrong with the interface, but it seems that layer and layer of problems may have clouded his judgment overall.

What I could see with this is that Robinhood is going to improve more based on this and would not let it happen again within their platform or something. Disclaimers are for sure there, but it still lacks in terms of awareness with the risk, maybe.
4198  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Futures trading on: June 21, 2020, 05:59:26 AM
It's an excellent motivation to have that kind of "risking" mentality but make sure that you are going to work it out, win or lose on that trading.

Futures is going to be challenging at first, especially if you are just learning it right now. It's best to know some key terms before dwelling with futures trading.
  • Know what the units of measurement of the contracts (is it in USD, BTC, etc.)
  • Minimum quantity of contracts
  • Leverage
  • Risk Management
  • Automatic trading

These apply to different exchanges as well. It's best to try a virtual trading account / fake account with fake money to test your strategy and if it will work in the long run.

Personally I have been using BitMEX and Binance Futures. They are both reliable. I prefer Binance futures because I earn USDT instead of BTC. Depending on how much risk you have, choose wisely.

I had a poor experience with OKEx because it seems that they force close your position at a particular time (which shouldn't be the case). I'm not sure if it's fixed anymore, but I stayed away from it because of that. Spot markets there are okay, but futures I think are not yet reliable.
4199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Price Map on: June 20, 2020, 09:22:54 AM
When I click a certain place, it says [Advertising]

It may be a way to advertise different exchanges in a specific country. I'm not sure. Maybe they can put P2P exchanges, LocalBitcoins, or something related to that. It's a great way to visualize how many people in the world is trading Bitcoin. Not bad. Thanks for sharing OP.

I hope everything follows with the exchange rate in Nigeria with $10628 right now, lol.
4200  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin trading in India is on fire on: June 19, 2020, 01:42:50 AM
This is an excellent gain for Bitcoin itself because India has one of the largest populations in the world, and legalizing Bitcoin means other countries could follow as well. They are also one of the major economic forces in the world. Additionally, there's a technological advancements there that they could offer, possibly addition to the security or more inventions that could benefit the cryptocurrency community. This, for sure, is an advantage, and hopefully, others will follow as well.
