421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: KYC scams on: December 29, 2017, 03:36:07 AM
Can someone explain what these cyber criminals gain by obtaining pictures/numbers/details of your passport or driver's license? Let's say they live in America and they got passport details of an someone living in Asia. I can't imagine how they would use that to hurt the Asian without it being an obvious fake/scam? Unless they use it to scam someone dense and unaware I don't see how it would pass basic security checks.
422  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin is going to crash? on: December 28, 2017, 03:18:16 PM
When it reaches $30k it may crash again. Lol. If you stop focusing on bitcoin's value and actually look at it's fundamentals you will see that it is severely undervalued for something that can potentially change the world. Say goodbye to banks and middlemen. Bitcoin is the future and will have a long way up to go so you should not be really worried about crashing and valuations right now. Just invest if you believe in it and wait till it gets mass adoption.
423  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 1 Million Altcoins?! on: December 28, 2017, 10:24:49 AM
Yes, it is hard to follow, and a large portion of the project are lying, so you have to pick a good ioc project investment and a bounty threads, so returns will be very good.

Correct. You will have to filter out the bad projects. Not even all of them actually pay out bounties. A good measure would be to look at 1) their project (do they have a working product? real world use?), 2) their team (are they real people? do they have experience in crypto?), and 3) their marketing (does it even look professional?).
424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Don't listen to John McAfee on: December 28, 2017, 06:39:25 AM
It's as if I predicted it will rain tomorrow and if it does, calling myself a weatherman. Then, instead of lots of people checking the news for the weather they check my twitter. Its nuts.

Exactly. Its really amazing to see how easy it is to manipulate the crypto enthusiasts. Just take a look at Verge (XVG) now. It's dead. Hopefully people soon realize this pump and dump pattern and actually focus on investing their money in coins/tokens/teams/projects that really matter.
425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: All my money in 1 altcoin - Too risky? on: December 27, 2017, 09:41:34 AM
$500 is not so little especially if you're a newbie in crypto. But congratulations, in a few years time you would either A) earn big profits on your investment or B) be left within nothing. Thats the problem with a single investment you either win or not. If you diversify however, you even out the risk of losing all your money but at the same time also risk profits. It is considered the "safer way" to invest but in the end it will depend on your personal investment appetite.
426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Cryptocurrency Market Cap Predictions for 2018 on: December 27, 2017, 08:20:07 AM

I personally think it's gonna rise heavily to around 1.5 - 2 trillion USD. Any thoughts?

I believe it could be more. If the steady stream and trickle of upward price movement is any indication, we could be potentially facing EXPONENTIAL growth once this goes mainstream. If this year bitcoin grew by 1800% imagine how much more it could grow in 2-3 years time. Only very few people know about crypto if you look at the potential population and soon people complaining about high prices now will soon be left behind regretting they didn't buy cheap while they could.
427  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Wayback machine on: December 27, 2017, 03:15:23 AM
I was curious to see what people had to say about coins that are now worth 100's of dollars and more in the wayback machine. I found it funny to see some people saying that XMR wouldn't amount to anything when it was going to cents!!
What would you say is similar in today's forum?
I was thinking RIPPLE, ADA, SC and maybe even VERGE.
Any ideas?

Early adopters win big in crypto. I agree with your RIPPLE, ADA, and SC. Not with Verge (XVG) because it seems to only be a McAfee pump coin that should eventually die out. If you ask me i'd also add in NEM/XEM. Its value is so low now but they are very active throughout cryptocurrency communities especially in Asia. Hopefully with these coins we one day we become the early adopters and win big.
428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: XVG is dead on: December 26, 2017, 06:19:28 AM
Interesting post. But if this was a pump and dump, where exactly was the 'dump'? I don't see it on any of the exchanges that have XVG listed. If anything, I see a sharp, brief, move down, followed by an immediate recovery. To me, and I could very well be wrong, this should lead to new highs shortly. I'm seriously considering ADDING to my position, but have other coins I would like to own to diversify.

Just wait for it. The recovery you are seeing is because of advanced hyping tactics. The dump should come soon. It will probably disguise itself in bitcoin's upward movement.

Why would you want to buy more of a coin anyway just because it isn't being dumped? Just look at the fundamentals. It's a coin that offers "advanced privacy" and promises "more improvements." Heard that before from like 1000 other altcoins. Nothing really to give it much value. All speculation.
429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Google partnered with Peculium! on: December 25, 2017, 07:15:21 AM
Fake news. If anything, this just goes to show how uncredible and extremely unprofessional Peculium is. A google partner would never boast it out load by screaming to the world at the top of their lungs. They would let google themselves do the announcement and sit calmly watching the money come on. Stay away from Peculium, whatever that shitcoin is.
430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is everyone "Cashing in" on: December 22, 2017, 03:01:06 AM
This is it. Just hodl or buy more crypto. After this correction, i believe it will then be time for bitcoin and altcoins to reach all time highs we only imagined.

I also do believe the term is "cash-out" like "cashing out their profits." Maybe a grammar nazi can come in and correct us but i believing "cashing-in bitcoin" means putting money "in" bitcoin while cashing "out" refers to taking money out from bitcoin. Maybe i'm just rambling but hey, coins are down and have nothing to do but wait and hodl.

431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WHAT İF I TOLD U RİPPLE İS REAL BİTCOİN on: December 20, 2017, 03:03:35 AM
What if i told you... The quality of posts and topics in this forum is really declining.

My account is new but i've been a lurker since 2016. If before we saw intelligent discussions and technical expertise, now we see signature campaign spam and meme-inspired reddit style discussions. I wonder what the topics will be like in this forum cum 2018.
432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buy and Hold 100 Cryptocurrencies for 5 Years – Day 10 – Doubled on: December 19, 2017, 04:42:31 AM
Awesome. Interesting take on altcoins and congratulations on the doubling! I might just do the same thing, but with less coins of course.

The only thing holding me back on doing this is the fact that you don't have any bitcoin. If bitcoin's value surges upward, your entire portfolio will be down. The fiat value of your altcoins may be the same, but your value in bitcoin would already have been much less than what you could have had.
433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Yeah, we're in a bubble... on: December 18, 2017, 11:50:32 PM
How is that piece of news about a manipulative company relate to anything about cryptocurrency? Time has proven again and again that there is no bubble. This is cryptocurrency and it is not some other stock commodity or security normal people's minds are used to. This technology will actually change the world and make a difference and that is worth a lot more than it is today.
434  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero price will rise?! on: December 18, 2017, 03:33:10 PM
This is great news for monero. I've always been a fan of how simple and easy it is both to use and implement monero. This is probably why many other coins also build off from its source code (see Electroneum for example). With the addition of this multi-sig feature, monero hodlers should be in for a big reward.

Good job to the monero dev team!
435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to find about upcoming coins? on: December 18, 2017, 06:59:56 AM
Spend more time researching online.

Seriously, there is no shortcut. You will have to keep looking for news on multiple platforms. Check all the subreddits regarding cryptocurrencies, check coindesk, check cointelegraph, check bitcointalk forums, even check random blogs for latest news. There are also online reminders like coinmarketcal.com which will allow you to see upcoming events but really it all boils down to really putting in the effort to actively look for these coins.
436  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Crypto growing at your expected rate? on: December 18, 2017, 01:35:59 AM
I feel like it's doing a snowball effect. It was rolling slowly at the start of the year but now that more people have found out about it and have joined in, the snowball has gotten much bigger and is rolling down faster, getting more snow attached to it. Eventually this snowball will be so big that price will be rolling through $100k+ USD value without much resistance.
437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Trade LTC for Phore, XSPEC? on: December 17, 2017, 02:47:21 PM
Congratulations on the profits. To be completely honest, i've personally never heard of Phore and XSPEC until this topic came up. I see you like POS staking coins and while both look good, I am of the opinion that XSPEC is more professional looking.

You should also look into POS token as it is a good POS coin with an already working product and more integration incoming.
438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do we need more BTC forks? on: December 17, 2017, 10:22:26 AM
When it comes to bitcoin forks I can't really complain because its like "free bitcoin dividends." On the other hand, my worry is that having all these bitcoin forks might look shady to new comers in the cryptocurrency scene. Most will probably not understand and see it as a very "fake" way of generating money. I do hope it doesn't negatively affect bitcoin value.
439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CPU Mining 2018? ??? on: December 17, 2017, 09:32:45 AM
We have a seperate forum category for all mining-related discussion.
Here is the link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=160.0

Regardless, to help you get started i'd say you go for Monero. It uses the Cryptonight algorithm and any other coins based on that algorithm should be fairly easy to mine using any regular CPU.
440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Syscoin - the most active developers on: December 17, 2017, 07:18:23 AM
Been a fan of SYSCOIN for the past few months but never really understood how they are bringing about new change and innovation. Could you possibly ELI5 (explain to me like i'm five years old) why and how SYS is a good buy? Particularly looking to buy into some alts now that BTC value is way up there.
