421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: narrow height 1080ti or 1080 cards (1 to 1.5x vs 2x height)? on: January 04, 2018, 06:35:55 PM
Currently, I have it closed, but assuming I go to 4 cards, I plan to leave it open...I didn't know about pci-e risers...I'll definitely look that up. This rig won't have water cooling, but I hope to add another rig expressly for mining this spring or summer. For now, I'm looking to make this a 4-card system. On my son's 1080, I run nemosminer...that's what I'd plan to run on slots 2 and 4 if I add 1080 vs 1080ti.

Thanks!

You can set the gpu groups in mining software. At least it's true for Nemos-miner and Megaminer, I haven't tried Sniffodgminer recently.
There is really no way to dissipate ~1 kW heat from 4 1080ti cards in such close space. And I don't think there exist any single or 1.5 slot 1080 cards unless you buy an aftermarket fullcover water cooling.
Just use pci-e risers and build/buy a frame for your rig.
422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / narrow height 1080ti or 1080 cards (1 to 1.5x vs 2x height)? on: January 04, 2018, 02:34:07 PM
Are there any 1080ti or 1080 cards that have narrower heights (single to 1.5x rather than the typical double-slot height)?  I have a ROG V Extreme with 4 slots and currently run two 1080ti cards with sniffdogminer in slots 1 and 3 for heat dissipation. I'd like to run cards in slots 2 and 4, but used to have 780ti in slots 1 through 3 and that second doubleslot would overheat as there was literally no space between those cards.  Thus, I'm looking for two with lower height for slots 2 and 4.

Also, can I run sniffdogminer for cards on slots 1 and 3 and another multiminer for cards on slots 2 and 4 simultaneously if those other two slots run just 1080 cards or do I need to run 1080ti cards in all four slots and use just the one miner?

Finally, am I able to use the m.2 slot for a graphics card (either in addition to or in place of one of the pci express slots)?
423  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BitMinter.com * Optional Custom Miner, PPLNS, Merged mining, Newbie-Friendly! * on: May 11, 2013, 08:04:52 PM
organofcorti has done a very thorough audit of BitMinter's payouts:

http://organofcorti.blogspot.com/2013/05/131-bitminter-and-luck.html

I'd summarize it this way: when we have bad luck we still pay better than most mining pools. When we have good luck we pay a lot more.

Can you really ask for more?

Thanks to organofcorti for the excellent work. If you need to make sense of numbers he's well worth the price.

Well put, Dr. Haribo.  I've only toyed around with BitMinter and my 5670 mobile GPU, but I've been pleased with what little it can do in that pool (at the 5670's paltry 180 MH/s rate).

anyone using yacoin?
Yeah, that's my current focus, supermoose.
I like that it is, at least currently, CPU bound.
