421  Economy / Economics / Re: Would you consider moving abroad? on: July 23, 2023, 11:21:33 PM
If I lived abroad, I would like to be in the USA. Apart from that, I'm happy to be in my country. The living standards are not high, the economy of the country is in a very bad condition and since the government has been running the country for a long time, they are becoming more and more authoritarian, but I cannot give up here because I'm in a very livable place in terms of geography and environment. I wouldn't leave my country and go to other countries in Europe, for example. There are a lot of Turks who immigrated to Europe and Canada lately, but I don't have such a plan.

Considering your situation, if you are not really satisfied with your position and there is a job opportunity, you may consider living in another country. However, it's necessary to plan everything very well. Is the culture and structure of the place suitable for you, will you be able to live your life without financial difficulties, you need to calculate them correctly.
We live only once, the experience of living in another country for at least part of your life sounds interesting.
422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the largest meme coin ever? on: July 23, 2023, 10:38:05 PM
DOGE is the biggest and most profitable "meme coin" if you want to call it that way. I remember the first day of DOGE, nobody expected it to stay alive and valuable until this day.
All other meme coins are plain copycats. Even though I didn't get much profit from DOGE, especially as a Day-1 user, it still has a special place in my heart. Smiley
423  Local / Ekonomi / Re: BTC/USD ve BTC/TRY Fiyat Takibi, Spekülasyon, Tartışma Alanı on: July 23, 2023, 06:42:25 PM
Smiley

424  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Appeal to the Average Joe and Jane Bitcoin Investors: Buy Bitcoin Now! on: July 23, 2023, 04:49:39 PM
It's not that useful advice because average joe isn't here. If you post this in Facebook etc. you might have more exposure and fit in the right audience. People here already know about Bitcoin and its advantages and they already invest in Bitcoin, except a few trolls who come and go casually.  Smiley

I'm more attracted to Bitcoin's decentralized structure where we can actually protect our money from governments absurd economic policies, rather than the expectation that it will rise in price. Of course, no one can say no to the price increase as well.
425  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think selling your property is better than taking loan? on: July 23, 2023, 02:11:49 PM
Like everyone else when you said property, I thought you were talking about selling something like a house or land. Selling household goods and paying off debt is a different matter. It's silly to sell an item you use, but if you have a surplus, you can sell it. The subject of borrowing may vary depending on the interest rates and the amount of credit you receive. If you don't have a job, you can't get high credit and even if you do, you can't pay easily. If you have a regular job, you can't be afraid to take out a loan. Of course, this makes sense for places like our country where inflation is very high and money is constantly losing value. It's more difficult to pay interest on loans in countries with low inflation and valuable money. In other words, this situation changes depending on where you live, your needs and the conditions of the day.
426  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SCAM or not ? on: July 22, 2023, 11:23:04 PM
That's scam for sure. There is not even a tax regulation about that in Türkiye. There is no limit to the lies these scammers will tell.
OP, are you Turkish? I hope you didn't lose too much money.
427  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 22, 2023, 09:04:49 PM
It seems to me that Durant's chase for easy rings at that time affected not only his reputation but also his legacy. I mean, he is definitely one of the most outstanding players in NBA history, but at the same time, in my opinion, he will always be a notch below players like MJ, Kobe, Dirk, etc., because of that signing with the Warriors.

Durant is one of the best shooters I've ever seen. But his ring count is below a lot of superstars. He only won championships with Warriors, if he had it with Thunder that would look different. Every player has had mistakes and bad memories in their career. It's not uncommon for Durant to go to the Warriors for the ring. Other superstars have done that, and they didn't even get the ring (Remember Karl Malone and Gary Payton in Lakers) in the end. LeBron's announcement of his new team on the TV show is also a bad memory, but when LeBron is mentioned now people don't think of that time.
428  Other / Meta / Re: Icopress ' Merit Source Application on: July 21, 2023, 09:17:25 PM
I support this application. You would be a good addition to merit sources as most sources burned out and stopped using merit system. I hope theymos will consider changes in sources soon as the system is almost dying.

For the merit system to continue as planned, active sources and members who distribute smerits they earn are needed.
429  Other / Meta / Re: No referral code (ref link) spam on: July 21, 2023, 12:12:25 AM
But what the referral link is only on the OP's topic and not elsewhere? I mean if not spamming with it.

It doesn't really matter. Referral links are forbidden in posts and threads. There are only a few exceptions of this rule and it's been mentioned in previous posts.

If you report posts that contain referral links they will be handled pretty fast.

You can use referral links in your signature.

431  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation is making a mess of my savings. on: July 19, 2023, 08:25:34 PM
Inflation has been a problem all over the world, but it mostly affects our country. Türkiye was the country that lost the value of the currency the fastest. Since the government's economic policy is to depreciate the currency, we were the people most affected by inflation.
The reasons you mentioned are the causes of global inflation and there are more. Fortunately, we have Bitcoin in our lives and we can protect the value of our money a little bit. How could we protect ourselves in this inflationary environment if cryptocurrencies didn't emerge? Fiat money is perhaps in its last days. In this way, the value of Bitcoin is understood once again. It looks like we are entering a new monetary era.
432  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: July 16, 2023, 02:18:25 PM
WTF did I just see? Djokovic has demolished Alcaraz in the opening set 6:1! One way traffic baby! Alcaraz is leading now 1:0 in the second but frankly things are not going great for him.

That was kinda expected. Djokovic should win this match rather easily. He's not playing against Rafa or Roger anyway. Alcaraz is pretty inexperienced and Novak is still fit.
Alcaraz may get one set but that's all he can get today. Djokovic will win his 24th Grand Slam title.

433  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 16, 2023, 12:32:00 PM
Big contract for Jaylen Brown.
I read that Jaylen Brown could sign a maximum contract of $304 million with the Boston Celtics.
If this is true, the last year of the contract will be $ 70 million.

That's huge for Brown, him and Tatum has been the face of Boston Celtics for years. And now that Marcus Smart is gone, he could be very influential to the team right now. Hopefully, Boston will blossom and reach the finals again or even win.
Again, him and Tatum are blending well in the last couple of years and they should be around their prime years right now.
So it's good to see that he has been rewarded by the Celtics management.

Waste of money tbh. Brown was good until Finals, then he choked pretty bad.
Does he deserve max contract? On his own perspective probably yes, but I don't think he and Celtics will get away with that last failure. If they ever get to Finals again, everybody will remember that moment.

I read that it's the biggest contract in NBA history. Nobody get paid 70m on a year before. Even Jokić has 5-year 276m contract. Brown will pass the MVP and other players. Pretty good deal for a Top 10 player.
434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Question] Bitcoin More decentralized than Ethereum? on: July 16, 2023, 12:10:07 PM
_act_ summed it up well. It's absurd to compare Bitcoin and Ethereum about decentralization.

They sold premined ETH with ICO. Bitcoin never do that.
Vitalik Buterin is a known figure and have the biggest influence over the market, even for other coins. Bitcoin don't have this type of figure.
They even roll back and forked the coin. Ethereum isn't even in their original chain, Ethereum Classic is.
Switching from PoW to PoS is a hit about decentralization.

Ethereum has its benefits, but it's impossible to talk about decentralized ETH anymore.
435  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You are still very early on: July 16, 2023, 11:57:42 AM
You are definitely not early, but you are not late as well. Considering total world population and number of Bitcoin owners there's a long way to go. You better start accumulating Bitcoin now than regret later. In 2013 I thought I was late to the party, after a decade I realised what opportunities have come our way. Those were early times. Now you missed the chance of making 1000x but you still have a chance to keep the value of your money and make a decent investment.

It's good to have a target. 0.1 BTC target you put is very achievable for most people. If you think you are late to own a full Bitcoin, you may go for 0.1 BTC target. I wonder where we will be in 10 years. Smiley
436  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Retiring on bitcoin on: July 15, 2023, 09:34:56 PM
How many bitcoins does a person need to retire, what is the cashout plan and why?

It depends on the location heavily. If you want to live in the US when you retire then 10 BTC wouldn't be enough but if you live in Türkiye 10 BTC is more than enough with right moves.
Your expected life standards also affect this hypotethical number. If you are someone who lives in luxury, you should own a lot more coins. Based on the future price of Bitcoin at $1 million, 10 BTC would probably be enough for you to live and die in a high standard of living. If you live an average life, you can retire with much less coins.
Of course these are all assumptions, there is no guarantee that there will be Bitcoin tomorrow, just like there is no guarantee of anything in life.
437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH vs BTC future growth potential on: July 14, 2023, 11:34:51 PM
You brought out Ethereum's plan to reduce production, and you're right that this makes the prospect of Ethereum's future growth all the more alluring. Whats holding you back from investing more heavily in Ethereum, though? Isnt it fascinating to discover new places? Its reasonable to proceed with caution, yet rational people cant completely shut out the exciting possibilities presented by the cutting edge.

That's because Ethereum isn't new and already made their biggest hike. I would prefer new coins to invest if I add to my portfolio for that quota. When you look at growth potential, new projects such as Arbitrum, Optimism and Aptos come to my mind. Not that they are better than Bitcoin or Ethereum but they have more potential profit wise.
438  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 14, 2023, 11:06:22 PM
I think the Bulls made the only right decision by applying for a Disabled Player Exception because it will allow them to sign a free agent who can probably partially compensate for the loss of Lonzo. Anyway, it's certainly not good for Lonzo because his NBA career will likely be over soon. At least, I don't really believe that he will be able to get back to his former playing shape after such an injury and multiple surgeries.

He had a 4-year $85 million contract but he will miss whole next season so it was the only choice for Bulls. Knee injuries have career-ending effect. I don't think he could play at NBA level even if he got better after not playing for 2 seasons. The career of a promising young player has come to an end. Bulls have made room in the salary cap, they can get a new player but difficult days continue for Ball.
439  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think at some point government will change its stand and adopt Bitcoin? on: July 14, 2023, 09:15:04 PM
Every government has a different agenda. When small countries like El Salvador do something positive, that doesn't really affect the global financial markets. If developed countries one day look at Bitcoin more positively and somehow incorporate it into their own financial systems, then this would be a big deal. I'm sure that even in such an environment, our country will lag far behind in this adoption phase. This type of integration has a direct connection with the wealth and development level of countries.
440  Economy / Reputation / Re: Why don't we ban users like FmaTR on this forum? on: July 14, 2023, 04:35:16 PM
If the user was a scammer, he wouldn't be banned because scams are not moderated. If you think he's a scammer and you have proof, you can give negative trust using the trust system.

The user may be constantly opening new accounts and giving himself a positive feedback. We've seen many examples of this. However, this is difficult to prove. Although it's unlikely, there may be people who actually come from the search engine and sign up for the forum to purchase the service.
No one takes the positive feedback of one post accounts seriously anyway. I think the seller is aware of this. I don't think it's a problem for these accounts to post on the thread, as long as they follow the 24-hour bump rule.
