As I have seen that Gavin and a few others have the access to Bitcoin code. This is historically as they were involved into Bitcoin development from early age. But does it mean no new guy will get access to the Bitcoin code ? If it is possible, then how ?
its open source, hack away, start a altcoin.

yes ... gpu = 300kH/s (300 euros) ... asic at 300 euros = 11000kH/s. not using gpus to mine btc, alts then trade. gpus win by a mile. get alot more than 300kh for 300 euros. check out coinwarz your 300 to 110000 gpu still wins.

I personally think you would be far more intelligent to save that $10,000 on GPU's and buy a Bitcoin miner for $10,000 instead.
nope, you earn more with gpus.

Hello SUPERBLOCK...... CryptoChomper congrats
|
|
|
insignificant difference, move along, nothing else to do here but watch it hash.

|
scrypt asic is a fairly tale until proven otherwise, keep buying gpus.

Any tips in making this thing work? I'm using the data from the .conf but can't connect to server. This is my solomine config: { "url" : "127.0.0.1:11055", "user" : "user", "pass" : "pass" }
listen=1 daemon=1 gen=0 server=1 rpcconnect=127.0.0.1 rpcuser=your rpcpassword=stuff rpcport=11055 addnode=61.23.187.93:11054 addnode=146.185.150.184:11054 addnode=84.202.182.12:11054 addnode=95.85.26.11:11054 addnode=83.212.121.113:11054 addnode=198.245.51.98:11054

no contest, solo that puppy. worst case you make the same as pool, best case you make 3-5x.

As Andreas Antonopoulos stated on a recent CoinsiderThis Podcast:
I personally think you would be far more intelligent to save that $10,000 on GPU's and buy a Bitcoin miner for $10,000 instead.
yep but that 10,000 gpu investment will yield lots more btc than buying a btc asicminer.

not dead yet
Coin is dead because of lacking key services....If you don't know what they are you have no business mining or keeping this coin. key services = good one. most alts exist for trading, thats it.

my last 3 PoW blocks flashed up, but never showed up in transaction list, bad luck or orphans?

I think what we're seeing is governments are just saying it's not a currency and will be treating/regulating like a commodity such as gold and silver bullion. Those aren't technically currency either.
technically they are money, bitcoin is not.
|
|
|
i think ideal coin must be asic resistable and CPU only mineble, becouse sha256 and scrypt coins waste too much energy.
cpu coins are for the bots

Pools are always better than solo mining, this is just because you will find blocks more frequently and depending on the pool type, you will not lose anything with this.
not better, just steady.

|
When the scrypt ASICs come out what would be best mining alternative for someone who can't afford to upgrade? Please don't say stop mining you got a long till any asics come out, buy a gpu.

Am I the only one that actually finds this interesting?
