421  Other / Meta / Re: How to send merit? on: February 18, 2023, 05:06:46 PM
Question was answered a few times by several users. Please don't repeat answer like spam.

OP duplicated another topic today to ask it like he has never read answers in this thread. That new thread was deleted by mod.

He likely does not mind to read your answers. Another reason to stop replying.

I can advise you to start with the basics of economics for students: reading the book "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki
Download it from Rich Dad, Poor Dad and R. Kiyosaki has another book available to download from Rich Dad's Cashflow Quadrants

Countries with high inflation rates, double digit will more suited to adopt Bitcoin in 2023 and future years. With Bitcoin, hopefully they can find solutions to handle their national debts.

Advantages of Cryptocurrency;
*it gives you choice
Choice to take risk, be degen and have loss.

Quote
* it gives you money
None of them give you money. You have to work, get money and use money to buy them. If you buy Bitcoin, you gain. If you buy altcoins, you lose.

Quote
* it gives you knowledge of trading
Knowledge must be learned from trading books, courses, not from cryptocurrencies.

Awesome crypto trading
425  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Wallet backup & encrypted question on: February 18, 2023, 02:32:03 PM
One is same old file which was not encrypted with password.
Another one which i did encrypted with password phrases after few years.
Encrypted or not encrypted wallet file, it stores your private keys and the encryption is to protect that file better, prevent hackers to easily access your keys. Encryption does not change your private keys in that wallet.

Quote
My question is-
Now I have fogot the password of encrypted wallet.dat file. So can i backup and use the old un encrypted wallet.dat file and do recover coins for doing transcations?
If the unencrypted wallet file is usable, you can access private keys inside and can make transactions.
With encrypted wallet file, you must have that wallet password to access keys and make transactions.

Quote
Since its a same wallet.dat file, therfore if I backup un encrypted wallet.dat will it ask me for password phrase.
Password phrase, do you mean it is a password to encrypt that wallet?

It is confusing because you are talking about unencrypted wallet file, not encrypted wallet file. Why do you need a wallet password phrase?

428  Other / Meta / Re: How to send merit? on: February 17, 2023, 07:00:07 AM
Merit & new rank requirements

You can send 1, 2, 3, 10 merit but can not send 0.5 merit. With 7 merit, you have 3.5 sendable merit but you can only send 3. For 0.5 sendable merit, you must have 1 more merit to gain 0.5 more sendable merit and have 1 sendable merit to send.

Move it to Meta or Beginners & Help. Your topic is not about Bitcoin.

DO. NOT. CLICK. ON. ANY. LINKS. THAT. APPEAR. ON. NFT'S. THAT. GET. AIRDROPPED. TO. YOUR. WALLET. FOR. NO. DAMN. REASON.

They will lead you to a website that will ask you to connect your wallet and approve a transaction that takes all your NFT's and other tokens. The website's look good because they were made by the ugliest rats who are the best at their job. We got our first Saga pass stolen this way during all of this on January 5th. We know most of you on here don't mess around with other ecosystems, for reasons just like this, and that is totally fine. Discussion about that is healthy, but we also must recognize the importance of eating glass and moving on. Always make sure to follow the correct Twitter trails and verify, verify, verify. Thank you.
If anybody did click on those links to approve smart contract allowance, use https://app.unrekt.net/ to revoke access.
Smart contract interactions, risk and liabilities

After doing this, it is more important to transfer your coins, tokens to another new wallet. Move all your fund to another wallet, don't let it in that old wallet.

434  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ego and too much confidence are dangerous in investing. on: February 14, 2023, 04:47:31 AM
2021 I started my journey here in crypto, I was lucky because I was able to invest in other cryptos before it went all the way up. NFTs, P2E games, airdrops and hyped shitcoins lol. Of course I earned a lot and since it's my first time I became very confident thinking I'm so smart lol Grin. I have more money to spare, so I end up investing left and right carelessly thinking i will earn more but the truth is majority of those i have invested are lost money because of bear market, scam projects and rugpulled shitcoins.
You got lucky to win with your first investments, first months in cryptocurrency in 2021. With NFTs, P2E games, I think you got luck with them when you joined their projects very early. Because I think with Play to Earn tokenomics, the later you join, the more loss you will have and you will less likely get profit if you joined those Earn projects too late.

When tokens unlocked by vesting schedules, people own those tokens will cause dumps on the market. I don't think joining NFT projects is good but if you join, watch their token vesting and unlock schedules.
https://vestlab.io/

Rug pulls are popular with shitcoins that only listed on decentralized exchanges. When their teams done to collect money, they removed all liquidity on DEX and you have lot of tokens with value is mostly zero.

I hope you learned it and will only invest in Bitcoin.

Can I use luno wallet to invest in Bitcoin?
https://www.luno.com/
It is safe to not touch them because you have many older wallets that are safer with years of operations and good feedback from community and users.

Luno introduces interest paying Bitcoin wallet.

I watched their Youtube videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mm-0fkx9eBE&list=PLvmGHZnqNO9TeR-tGZmxBGaNT2gAX6I6c
and they require users to KYC that is not what I like to do. I don't use this wallet. With KYC, I feel like they are custodial wallet and don't give users private keys or mnemonic seeds.

Using Luno wallet is like using a bank account.

437  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Bitcoin's sustainability on the long term on: February 13, 2023, 03:30:21 AM
I think it's fine if most users run SPV wallets, if casual users use custodial wallets, and only enthusiasts run full nodes. Yes, they won't get all the benefits of being your own bank and "don't trust, verify", but most people don't need them. Just owning and using Bitcoin in sufficiently secure manner is enough.
Do SPV wallets must upgrade their wallet softwares when Bitcoin protocol has upgrades?

Users of SPV wallets are simply download, install those wallets to use for their storage, transaction broadcasting. If they can do more technical steps to verify wallet software before using it, it is better.

I don't think users are responsible for too depth technical knowledge and codes or steps. They simply interact with good wallet softwares in wallet interface. To help Bitcoin adoption, I don't think developers should force users to interact with wallet softwares by code.

Increasing blocksize is great when time comes. If Bitcoin had Segwit upgrade for it in 2017, it can have Segwit 2 in future. Community will support the block size increase and upgrade if it brings benefit in transaction fee and average waiting time for confirmations.

I don't have much experience in crypto, and hopefully by joining this group I will get a lot of knowledge about crypto..
It is a bitcoin talk forum, not a group. In cryptocurrency, when you start, you should start with Bitcoin. Learning should be began with Bitcoin first. After learning about most important cryptocurrency, you can learn about top altcoins, start with Ethereum and BNB.

Avoid tokens at beginning because they are more risky than Bitcoin and top altcoins with their own blockchains.

but is investing in bitcoin really safe or not? and do many lose from investing in bitcoin or not? I want to hear from all of you...
Investors get profit, traders get losses in general.

But not all investors can gain profit. If you don't hold your bitcoin long enough, you will have more risk to get loss, not profit.

Bitcoin has 4 year cycle and you must hold your bitcoin more than 4 years to surely gain profit.

Hi please forum mate am newbei and wanna invest my money on this decentrialised digital currency but don't know the right currency to invest my money on
If you only want to invest money in decentralized cryptocurrency, only choice for you, it's Bitcoin. Other cryptocurrencies are centralized.

Quote
my question is which of the currency is good enough crypto or bitcoin, which one is more nice and quick to make profit
Bitcoin is best but it and no other cryptocurrencies can help you to gain profit and get rich quickly.

You must hold your bitcoin to gain profit. Hold it a few years.
440  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Avoid altcoins and shitcoins because they cannot be stored personally. on: February 12, 2023, 10:30:52 AM
When they keep telling us, especially newcomers, to avoid altcoins and stick with Bitcoin, it's all about the difference between decentralized and centralized exchanges.
It is not about decentralized and centralized exchanges but about decentralized network and centralized network. Bitcoin has a best decentralized network and altcoins have worse networks for decentralization. Their networks are very centralized from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake algorithms, all are centralized.

Quote
As a newcomer, I assumed that altcoins could also be stored in non-custodial wallets, but I later discovered that only Bitcoin could be stored in non-custodial wallets such as electrum, Exodus, and the Ledger Nano X
You can store Bitcoin and altcoins in non custodial wallets. You always can but you must use open source non custodial wallets.

It is not true that you say people can not store their altcoins in non custodial wallets. Except very scam altcoins that don't have their blockchains and actual networks. If their coins or tokens are on good altcoin blockchains like Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, Harmony, Avalanche, you can import their smart contract address to non custodial wallets and store that token.

People just like to store their coins in accounts on centralized exchanges and skip all warnings about risks.
