1) Is there a way to get a list of the principals/staff  @ GLBSE? I know you guys are well trusted, but I'd like to know who all I'm dealing with Smiley

I am still looking for an answer to the above question. Can anyone direct me to this information?

Whoa, sorry I missed that.

We did have a people page but it's not showing ATM since 2.0 has gone up.

Anyway, my name is James McCarthy, I'm based near Manchester in the UK.

I recently spoke at TDx in Leeds.

While we're on the topic, what happens if you get hit by a double decker bus?

@Nefario - sent you an e-mail regarding some problems with dividend payments.  Seems some shareholders received their dividends and some did not..

I am interested in the RPP (road pizza policy).  As much as I like and totally support the idea behind GLBSE..  It is kind of hastily thrown together and not so well thought out (at least from an outsider perspective)   I understand that it is in its infancy and may not be making the money required for it to be taken seriously (yet) but I am worried about a) if something happens to Nefario,  b) if the project is abandoned (it almost was).

I already have a decent chunk of time / money tied up in GLBSE, and issues like these are REALLY holding me back from going further with it.  I am sure I am not alone in feeling this, as well, from an investor standpoint its gotta be holding people back from taking it seriously (thus investing) as well.  If GLBSE is really looking to make meaningful strides here, this stuff has to be addressed ASAP.

2) It looks like GLBSE could work for private assets as well as the publicly traded assets. If I wanted to come issue two separate series of stocks, only one of which offered in public sale, likely with different rights, could you manage the private asset (i.e. let people hold it in account, vote, distribute dividends, etc, as per other public assets) as well as the public asset? I'm presuming this would be a paid service.

Thanks for you help!!

I wonder about something similar.  I don't know jack about securities law, but from what I have heard, offering a public security and soliciting people privately to invest are two totally different things..
426  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: current design is clear and works. on: March 26, 2012, 09:59:14 PM

what's your broker's approach here?
remind you that glbse is not offering lines of credit nor margins and no leverage as bitcoinica is doing.
please educate me and refine your wish to behavior of buy orders in case they would start executing.
we're messing here with market depth and rules should be well described, understood and implemented.

forgot to reply to this, noticed you mention something in another thread about it.  I think the way my current broker handles it is real simple though I am not sure exactly how they handle it as I haven't actually looked at the actual rules.  This is how it acts however:  Your order is checked at order time to make sure you have the balance / margin / credit available.  If this first check passes, the order is posted.  Kind of like a "soft" check / pre-approval.  At execution time, the order is checked for margin again and then executed.  The "hard" check.  Now the way my broker works, is they give you a certain # called "buying power" which takes into account other holdings and things too.  I think for GLBSE purposes, this could just be based on cash on hand.  IE: if I have 100 BTC on hand, I should be able to place 100BTC orders, as many as I want, whatever price I want, and these should all pass the soft check.  At execution time, if the order fails a hard check, it is removed from the order book / cancelled.  Something like that anyway.

I can't seem to pay out dividends, I get an error about not enough coins available. My dividend account doesn't issue have any buy orders, and has enough coins to send out dividends...

I had the same problem, do you actually have funds in the JLP-BMD (or other asset) sub-account?  I appeared to have BTC in my account (BTC Account), but it was actually trying to draw from the BMMO sub account which was empty.  Moved some funds around and off to the races.

hmm actually i noticed the way the new system pays dividends is a little different than it was so the dividend payout was slightly lower than it was supposed to be.  I manually paid out the different in second payment just now, but I will have to figure this out / talk to Nefario about how it works by next week.

Dividends paid!  Another weekly dividend of .0047 BTC per share has been paid!  Minus our fee, .0032 per share net to shareholders!   We paid these out on GLBSE 2.0 today and other than a little bit of interface shock (they need a UI / UX guy) it seems to have worked smoothly!

I also just noticed that my post from last weeks dividends payments didn't post or something as it is not here.  For the record, last weeks dividends were paid on time, last Sunday, and were .0047 gross, .0032 net (same as this week).

We are looking to add a lot more hashing power soon!  We hope to have pictures / stats of our new rig as soon as it is all cable tied up and looking pretty!  Hint: it's a 10GH monster with room / power for at least another 30 Wink

If I have an open buy order that reserves that amount of BTC from my available buying power?   I mean, even at my traditional stock brokerage I can have overlapping orders, it just depends at time of execution if I have margin there.  This will have a profoundly negative impact on liquidity.  Please correct me if i'm wrong.

your glbse 2.0 observation is correct. you have 0 overlaps in orders, no pseudo leverage.

it is not so much pseudo leverage as it is making a proper market.  just because i have a buy for 10@1btc for stock a, doesn't mean i won't jump at the opportunity to take 20@.5btc of stock b should the market decide to go there (with the same money).  money is limited, people have to keep their options open.  all this will encourage is no standing bids.  credit has to be checked at execution time, that's how it works.

I get your point at it has certain valid logic in it. however currently the exchange is not capable to review buyer's orders and cancel those eventually unfunded if his bitcoins get spent. this way it makes sure no unfunded buy orders remain.

imagine we're the only 2 users. you have buy orders on all my stock and I decide to sell everything.
in your use case I would be able to sell 1st batch of shares and invalidate all your other buy orders (you do not have any more credit on your bitcoin balance)
in the currently implemented use case I could sell all my shares because every buy order displayed is an order backed with blocked bitcoins.

That's great and all except the orders won't be there to begin with.  It is actually a disincentive to liquidity providers, why should they tie up their money to 100% commit to something that only might happen.  This is a fundamental problem here.

Also a note on BTC reserves, when you make a buy order it reserves BTC in your account for that order, if you need those funds you need to cancel the order first.

This stops people making orders when they don't have the funds to back it up.

Does this help?

Question on this part actually.

Finally got my account merged over. Killed some old dead scam assets I had bought Sad other then that everything is there.

Every time I click deposit/withdraw a new deposit address shows up. Can I save one address and use it over and over without any problems?

Yeah I need to change that, do people really prefer to use just the one address?

it would be nice to be able to do both..

teek, what account are you using?
i.e. at top of the page for most people it would say "Your Account : BTC"

When you pay dividends it comes from your assets own set of accounts, you can view your assets accounts by going to your portfolio and selecting it from the accounts page.

Also a note on BTC reserves, when you make a buy order it reserves BTC in your account for that order, if you need those funds you need to cancel the order first.

This stops people making orders when they don't have the funds to back it up.

Does this help?

It does.

@Nefario -  I am trying to pay weekly dividends totalling 21.0976 BTC,  the account I am trying to pay from currently has 23 BTC in it, and no open buy orders, yet GLBSE tells me I have not enough coins.  Help please.

Are GLBSE 1.0 claims not instant, or am I doing something wrong? I enter the code I was given, and it just goes to the normal account page without any dialogue, but doesn't update the stats.

I had a typo, you may want to try again, it worked fine for me as soon as I found the typo.

It might be a good idea that instead of having the cliam codes come in a popup, that they are able to be copied and pasted. Had some issues with that. Keep up the good work.

also the old xml contracts on the imported assets from 1.0 is not being displayed correctly..
