421  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [PREORDER] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: January 23, 2014, 04:45:01 AM
I thought to have cold storage wallets that can be loaded on for everyday spending, and to create said wallet seeds with the Trezor. I wasn't talking about new addresses from the same wallet
422  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [PREORDER] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: January 23, 2014, 02:48:34 AM
http://www.bitcointrezor.com/faq/

Is it possible to reset /wipe the device?

Yes, it is. This is especially useful if you want to pass your TREZOR device on to someone else. You can do so by wiping the device in the TREZOR Settings. By doing so, all sensitive user data will be erased. After that you can continue with a new Setup of the device (a completely new security key is generated and the old one is definitively lost) or you can restore it to previous setting with your paper backup.

does this mean we can use multiple wallet/seeds in just the one device? I mean as to keep more than one wallet backed up to seed for cold storage then wipe the device and load it with another for spending?
423  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [450 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: January 23, 2014, 02:40:08 AM
Slush Is there a way to get my NMC paid out to my old wallet? NALFUse84Fakcz9XBGUg5jGog5A1u5hx9A

Since Slush doesn't support NMC anymore, if you don't have enough for a payout, you might as well just right it off as a loss.

I'd been with him pool for nearly a year, I just never created a NMC wallet at that time, when i logged in recently to put in my NMC Wallet I couldnt find it..

if you didn't put in a namecoin wallet address at the time, then you didn't earn any. it has been posted many times here, way back since merged mining was implemented.

How do you tell what you have done so far in the pool?

Also, it seemed that everything was fine yesterday and all of a sudden I am getting errors:

What are those errors and how do I resolve them?

Thank you

Are you using a graphics card for mining? Seems like it GeForce GTS 250, I use my GF graphics card for testing because so slow won't make anything just have fun. I use cgminer when I use my GF graphics card. Navidia does not use an AMD based processor or chip or whatever it is.

I have to use both log in addresses, sometimes I can't connect using stratum.ditcoin.cz:3333 etc and have to use the http://api.bitcoin.cz:8332 which then defaults to the stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 somehow.

Oh and I had to use cgminer version 3.7.2. For some reason newer versions wouldn't work with my Navidia card, maybe just my system not sure.

Hope this helps some, from one n00b to another. LOL

Yes, I am using the gts250... I know the video card does not do much, but it is all I got.

I jus ordered a block eruptor and should have it this week.

I am mostly trying to understand this process and take it from there. For now, this is definitely a hobby more than anything else.

Thanks for the help.

gts250 ouch!  you might be lucky to get 70MH/s.  I sure hope you have free electricity.
about the authorization failed error message it may be that you have not set up your worker properly. from the site it says
Worker login will be <your username>.<login suffix> that is the USER

Setting up a 'backup pool' is simple. On the common mining software such as cgminer and bfgminer type [P]ool, then [A]dd, and enter the details of the pool.  These settings can be saved ([S ]ettings, [W]rite config file.  Saving the configuration remembers these settings so that they don't have to be manually reentered every time.  Different pool switching strategies can be selected as well.  The mining software monitors which of the pools on the list '.

Cheers

you can find the instructions in the readme of the miner you are using. also a good thing to know how to properly use the program.

Just in case you were not paying attention,  network difficulty just rose by 26% to 1.79G

yay! lower than hoped. good luck next couple months. i'm hoping lower than 51,000,000,000 by June 1, 2014.

Looking forward to getting mine.  This month I hope but if it is delayed in order to get it right then that is OK by me.  I certainly can live without it for another month or two.

+1

being as how I have lived without it since the beginning of (bitcoin) time. I would hope I can live without it for another month or two if need be

We are all working hard to meet January shipping estimates.
With a product as sensitive as a bitcoin wallet, security requirements beat time to market.

As a reminder, people should not use it as their cold wallets right away. It's much too risky with a new product like this.

WTF? for the last 2 sentences. It was over a year ago it was started. How new does it have to be to be risky? like bitcoin new?
435  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [450 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: January 12, 2014, 12:21:18 AM
Hello,

I have installed this software on a linux server. I have pointed some of my miners to this server. But, on the pool that I use (middlecoin), the hashrate does not shows up.

This software should be able to run for stratum pools, right? Also for script?

when you say "this software", to which software are you referring?

its about time people stopped whining. good for you guys! I suggest every n00b read all 711 pages of this thread before being able to post complaints against Slush or his pool. do some research please
437  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [450 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: January 10, 2014, 12:47:04 AM
Probably, because you have stopped mining at the end of the round ... compare the number of shares for similar round (or two) duration - for example 21402 and 21403 together are exactly the same time as 21355, so if you have less shares in 21355 that is the reason for your 0 reward.
This is the most common (and probably the only) cause with Slush pool. Some people do not read or understand the way it works, but then complain about nonexistent pool problems

one of the smartest posts I've read here in weeks, well done

When I paid for my Trezor on the first of October, Bitcoin was valued at $140.00USD. I felt comfortable buying one for that much fiat, but I would not consider buying one for $800.00USD.
