421  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are floppy disks safe to store wallets? on: May 22, 2016, 07:30:09 PM
1.44MB... I used to format them as a kid with maxidisk DMF style to get 1.66MB Wink The original windows 95 set up disks were on DMF formatted floppies to hold more, you could format any 1.44MB floppy DMF style.

Might be able to store 1 - 2 blocks per disk depending on transaction volume, imagine trying to sync the blockchain from floppies Wink

Sig campaigns are a good idea tbf, newbie accounts cant use some of them though.
423  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 49 days till the halving, time is flying now on: May 22, 2016, 07:25:22 PM
Miners stopping does not limit the supply in any way, as if blocks are solved on average every 10 minutes, new coins are still being minted throughout that time, it just changes who they go to.

Any  anyone can rig their meter, its just getting caught that's the problem. Some of the older meters you could slow down with magnets or somehow stop the thing turning. Or tap into the wiring before the meter (risky)

Of course, this is illegal to do and I don't endorse it.

I had no response so far, I only wanted 1 or 2... Is this only for chips? Who could turn them into mining rigs for us?

Looks like we shouldn't retire the titans just yet Smiley
425  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 1% fee solo mining USA/DE servers 180 blocks solved! on: May 22, 2016, 02:26:50 PM
isn't the network currently 1.2 Eh? And in response to the guy wanting to run his own pool if you are knowledgably that is a good thing, I also suggest if you do set up any sort of pool, to use the relay network: http://bitcoinrelaynetwork.org/
426  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 1% fee solo mining USA/DE servers 180 blocks solved! on: May 22, 2016, 02:18:05 PM
Not intending to overload the pool, but a good shot at a block Cheesy My S3 currently is hunting for  that, letting that little squirrel find the nut =) Ive worked out with my KNC scrypt units I can easily have more than half a 25 BTC block in a year, plus the BTC I already bought, so it doesn't make sense to gamble it away on the chance that I 'might' but I still want this block to manifest and my bitcoin rigs are for fun, so I might as well solo with them Smiley Now and again I threw the odd rental, but over a year lost 2 BTC worth so decided best not to try it again for a while. Add insult to that my best share came from my S3. My solo S3 comes on during the cheap electricity night hours.

My KNC scrypt units total are making me 1.4 BTC a month at the current scrypt difficulty directly in BTC on nicehash, for 0.2 BTC electricity cost. It makes sense to keep going with this and be patient. I plan after  the S7 prices have crashed to put a couple of them in my friends student dorm for the best shot at solo on this pool possible as the power will be free at that point, or see what the 14nm equipment has to offer.

Any BITCOIN mining direct that I do will be solo here, unless there is a really good hardware deal from a reputable source that will make real money, the problem is the difficulty jumps that bitcoin has, scrypt difficulty jumps are not anywhere near as extreme and levels out, and my payouts are in BTC.

But even to long term soloers solo mining here, I would always have your own node (if you have one) as the FINAL failover. If all major pools ended up DDoSed it would enable  transactions to get propagated, this pool makes a great second failover if you like pool mining or primary solo node as I trust this not to orphan my block more than my own bitcoind. But having your own node even if you pool and solo as  the final backup is something I hope most miners do.

It is possible to overload a pool that is improperly set up or has poor network infrastructure or has a bad daemon, my S3 overloaded and crashed the SHT coin daemon on that pool, the difficulty hasn't even reached 1 and I threw 500GH at it for shits and giggles.

Personally I think not only can this pool handle a high hashrate, it makes a good home for the older, low powered miners that otherwise are worthless now. Gotta be in it to win it...

At about £120 budget, you are limited. Are you looking to profit or just for fun?
428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hacking KNC Neptune / Jupiter / Titan miners back to life. Why not? on: May 22, 2016, 10:40:31 AM
In my case the chip would still be hot, even when the cubes were unplugged. Incidentally I had a junk Neptune that belonged to a friend of mine, if you connect the ribbon cable BACKWARDS on the cube but correct on the board, as he did, (its not keyed on the cubes) it will then begin the yellow flash thing, but not only that, the chip would roast even when cubes were disconnected. At this point, it won't see the cubes. The yellow flash thing is either a warning from the LED, or the white LED being overdriven to a point where its yellow?

How much is your electricity costs?
430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: Nicehash problems? Miners failing over on: May 22, 2016, 10:36:14 AM
I am failing over to my backup pool, I get paid more through nicehash and directly in BTC which is why I like it. The failover works, but was wondering if others have had issues with nicehash.
431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: -- [ANN] New Coin Launch - SHIT coin - SHT -- on: May 21, 2016, 10:39:43 PM
You planted a seed within us : - ) And we are all billionaires now! Easier to print money than the banks! Now lets go on a shopping spree, maybe even pay off the UKs and other countries national deficit, share the wealth with every person in the world, and all can be hunkey dorey thanks to SHT.

But the national debt of the US can even compete with SHT, as the US national debt runs into the trillions, it will take a good chunk of shit to remove it. They have more debt than they supposedly have printed dollars. This is where shitcoin can step in with 100 trillion, although the money supply is unknown as it seems to have got more than intended?

Quote
All told, anyone looking for all of the U.S. dollars in the world in July 2013 could expect to find approximately $10.5 trillion in existence, using the M2 money supply definition. If you just want to count actual notes and coins, there are about U.S. $1.2 trillion floating around the globe.

1/10 of the SHT supply is matched by the US dollar. http://money.howstuffworks.com/how-much-money-is-in-the-world.htm

Seems that SHT isn't too far off the real thing, if you add up all currencies in the world.
432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Nicehash problems? Miners failing over on: May 21, 2016, 10:20:49 PM
Been going on for a few hours, my titan which is at nicehash usually is failing over to litecoinpool.org. What is up with the pool? Other nicehash algo mining such as qubit, scryptjane and etherium is still fine?
433  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: generating private keys randomly on: May 21, 2016, 08:37:01 PM
The luck would be unfathomable. You would need to exhaust the entire 256 bit key space to find wallets, all the energy of a single star couldn't even COUNT through the entire 256 bit keyspace. We are safe.
434  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are floppy disks safe to store wallets? on: May 21, 2016, 08:31:54 PM
Maybe tattoo your private key to yourself Wink
435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hacking KNC Neptune / Jupiter / Titan miners back to life. Why not? on: May 21, 2016, 07:43:59 PM
I had a Neptune whos controller blew, the light would flash orange not white when it came on, the FPGA felt hot, i mean hot enough to burn your finger. the second controller the guy sent did the same thing, chip got roasting hot, it would see the cubes but they would not start hashing.
436  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: -- [ANN] New Coin Launch - SHIT coin - SHT -- on: May 21, 2016, 06:02:13 PM
I think that SHT is the SHIT. Now we need to get an ASIC on SHT. the reason being, anyone could mine SHT and not broadcast their blocks for ages, once the chain becomes longer than the current one, release them and invalidate everyone elses, as this was CPU mined an ASIC could easily 'undo' the work if you left it running for several weeks and then released the 'new' chain once its longer than the current one / has more work put into it. I think this coin should either have 1 ASIC miner at it, even if its a few block erupters, or we should hard-fork it to scrypt. Unfortunately, due to SHTs shitty policy of not paying bounties even for brilliant coding, the ASIC option is the best to secure the SHT network Wink

Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie."

Three Shits for the Shit-Kings under the sky,
Seven for the Shit-lords in their halls of shit,
Nine for Bitcoin doomed to die,
One for the Vlad2Vlad on his dark throne
In the Land of Crypto where the Scams lie.
One Shit to rule them all, One Shit to find them,
One Shit to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Crypto where the Scams lie."

SHT is the one coin/shit to rule them all. I can compare Vlad2Vlad to Sauron and his plan for world domination as quoted below.

That was all part of my brilliant plan for world domination.  Bitcoin is begging to falter; soon ShitCoin will step in and go mainstream.  Nobody saw this shit coming.

Secure the Dark Lord's assets with ASICs while we can! Or mine an alternative chain and steal the shit(ring) for yourself.

Or, to the good guys, we can cast the SHT into the Toilet from whence it came! However, one does not simply walk into the bathroom after use.

The shit was created in the fires of Vlad2Vlads ass, only there can it be unmade.

Who will bear this burden? Who will take the ring to mordor? Who will take the shit from whence it came?

I get the feeling the bad guys will win on this story Wink

EDIT: 5 Nodes! The dark lord is getting stronger.

I might switch MRR, i just dont have capital to throw at this and i don't want to gamble away what I am mining, i will put my faith in an S3 and the odd rental.

I think the most i threw at solo was a 1 hour 8pH rental... XD

This is just hype. It will crash, make no mistake
439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What are you mining these days? on: May 21, 2016, 04:44:09 PM
So far, the Etheruem is the most profitable usually. some times, an altcoin will be pumped, it is more profitable.

Also KNC Titan(s) are still doing great with LTC. But it is a hard 'Unicorn Hunt' to find one at a price that makes any sense. With halving coming up that makes also such
purchases at current Ebay prices 'iffy' imho also Sad

Etherium makes sense yet for a kinda 'hobby miner' ie at the end of it all and if you convert Ethereum to BTC  ..you likely "yet"

would get your card paid for ..for mining it 4 or more months (or look at it as less and a discount on your GPU card)

anyway bout it now imho Smiley

I spent £2k on one recently, seems a good investment, I will ROI in 6 months with the hashrate it is giving me.

I have sent an email, I am interested.

Wonder what this means for KNC Titan owners this is a little sooner than I expected
