421  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-05-16]THE PENTAGON WANTS TO GET ITS HANDS ON THE TECHNOLOGY BEHIND BITCOIN on: May 17, 2016, 12:12:09 AM
Of course they do, if they do not they will be left behind.  Still don't understand how banks and governments are so fired up about the blockchain yet shame bitcoin ...it is where it comes from.
422  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin halving almost there... brace yourselves :-) on: May 17, 2016, 12:08:08 AM
Brace yourselves,  gentlemen.  At the halving I will be emitting the biggest yawn you have ever seen.  It will likely suck all the oxygen out of this forum, so strap a tank on.

You could be right, it could be a yawn.  Sometimes things do the opposite of what is expected.

One good thing about a stable price through the halving would be that new bitcoin users/investors would feel more comfortable getting involved.  Sharp moves up or down can scare people away and what bitcoin needs is adoption more than a price rise.  More adoption = natural rise in price.
423  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you ever caught yourself thinking Bitcoin is AMAZING? on: May 16, 2016, 04:18:28 PM
Yes, everyday I think that Bitcoin is amazing along with many other words.  It is a revolutionary financial technology that can have widespread and positive effects on the global economy and all humans.

The Lisk Team is Expanding - Community Developers hired to prepare for launch!

Our latest blog announces the further expansion of the Lisk team by including two community developers who are supporting Oliver with the codebase and preparing Lisk for the main network launch.

With the addition of Isabella Dell and François-Xavier Thoorens we are one step close in providing a stable and reliable platform. Smiley

Kind regards,

Joel, Lisk's CM

Bumping news.

Great to hear!  More devs is always a good thing.

Visa Wants Maximum Revenue Regardless Of Retailer Concerns

There are several ways for retailers and merchants to accept credit card payments, as payment terminals have evolved throughout the years. Adding new layers of security to the most common form of payment is of great importance, Especially when considering how card payments have always been subject to high amounts of fraud...

http://www.newsbtc.com/2016/05/15/visa-wants-maximum-revenue-regardless-retailer-concerns/

What a surprise!  Visa's days are numbered and they know they have to grab what they can.  What they charge small businesses to accept credit cards is ridiculous. My local pet store has now upped the requested amount spent to use debit/credit at 15.00 due to high visa/mastercard fees!  What is the point of accepting it and it seems a backwards move back to cash - plus no cashiers know how to give change anymore.

427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: There is no currency that banks hate. on: May 14, 2016, 03:59:48 PM
There is one currency that they do indeed hate and fear - Bitcoin and cryptocurrency.  There is no need for banks when crypto takes over...i am banking on it.
428  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people store their bitcoin on a file, or on paper? on: May 14, 2016, 03:57:11 PM
Bitcoin on paper or file in your own home off of your computer is the most secure way to store bitcoin.  You just need to protect the hardcopy - laminate, put in a safety deposit box at the bank, or whatever is the most secure for you.

Bitcoin stored at online wallets is risky as the wallet can have issues and nothing "online" is really secure and can be hacked.

If you do use online wallets ALWAYS enable 2FA (Two Factor Authorization).
429  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Theymos: “Bitcoins Belonging to Satoshi Should Be Destroyed” on: May 13, 2016, 01:43:29 PM
Yeah...no.  This goes against everything that bitcoin is about to dictate what will happen with certain bitcoins.  This is a decentralized situation and should remain so by people minding their own business with their own bitcoins.
430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GetGemz was it a 1.2 Million USD ICO scam? or is there some hope for gg owners? on: May 13, 2016, 01:35:06 PM
Daniel started promoting GEMZ all over the place during the ICO. He was in the forum everyday and did interviews on Letstalkbitcoin. Now we don't hear a peep from him. That says a lot.

So what will the ICO investors do about this? I mean if his real ID is known and paykey actually does become something worthwhile.... lawyers like cases like these surely.

Interesting question.  Do these people just get away with it?

I usually gauge a scam based on developer info.  Who are they and do they actively communicate.

432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin IS basically ALIVE on: May 13, 2016, 01:25:04 PM
Bitcoin is alive and will be alive as long as we have faith in it.Who holds the most mining power or has largest transactions doesn't make any much difference. We are the owner of bitcoin that we possess not China

I agree with this.  It is the belief in bitcoin that makes it "alive" and will keep it alive.  All of us that hold it keep it alive as well.
433  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-05-11] CNBC: Obama needs to make a move on bitcoin now on: May 13, 2016, 01:22:22 PM
Amazing how CNBC and other news outlets are being particularly arrogant lately, must be the affects of the election that they think they can just run around screaming at people they're wrong and telling them how to do everything.

They must be long..

haha they must. Like the poster above said, Obama has no time left.  It is going to be the next president that will have to deal with it.  I think Trump will be better for btc than Hilary.  She is against encryption...and Trump, well he loves money.
434  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-05-13] In brief: Satoshi Revealed, does it even matter? on: May 13, 2016, 01:18:53 PM
No it does not matter one bit.  In fact it is a distraction.  The creator of bitcoin purposefully has disappeared from it because they want people to focus on the technology and the global impacts which are far more important than the identity of the creator.  I don't need to know who created my espresso maker to enjoy the taste.
435  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I never spent any savings on Bitcoin and I'm not broke on: May 13, 2016, 01:14:48 PM
If I had invested my savings in Bitcoin would it be more likely to be broke? Cheesy
that's funny, other thread also mentioned about same situation, trying to ask is he was brooke if he saving his bitcoin. Grin i think its not normal, people should know that they invest is not lost their money or bitcoin, weird.

Yes, this is similar to another post that was floating around about if you invest in bitcoin will you be broke.  Is this a real question, I dont even understand the point of asking it.  There is a search function where OP can type in "broke" and go to town.  boring drivel.  thank god I have recently discovered the "ignore" button.

438  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: State level regulation on: May 12, 2016, 04:59:26 PM
Definitely consult with a Bitcoin attorney in your jurisdiction to make certain.  Hopefully states will start being consistent with each other to make doing business easier.
439  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin going Up to 500? on: May 12, 2016, 04:06:27 PM
We are very close to this at this point.  I speculate also that it will reach 500 by the end of the month and pick up steam to 600 by mid June.
440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: May 12, 2016, 03:45:55 PM

I agree, it's wiser to take few more days to knock out the bugs to ensure a smooth launch.

Agree. Postpone launch few days to solve all remaining issues.

How about leave it up to the experts?  looks like the devs have said numerous times that launch will be May 24th.
