I just got a launcher today, plugged it all up, turned it on... And it just shuts back down after about one minute. If I unplug the launcher then I can get the pi to run, and was able to update it. I haven't been able to add a pool however, the page seems to freeze when I try.

Any ideas what I did wrong? Could it be the power cable that shipped with the pi?

my pi didnt load up that far on my original cable. Im not sure the pi power cable is the issue in your case but that would be a good starting point to look at

Thanks, I picked up a 5v 1.5A micro usb cable to power the pi with. The launcher unit still shuts down after a minute ish. Have not had a single hash as of yet. Still cant even add a pool or delete the one it came with. I'm starting to get worried something is faulty. The pi lights up and keeps running now that its plugged into a socket instead of the PSU, could it be the PSU?

It was listing "socket connect(127.0.0.1,4001) failed returning null" in the log before shutting the launcher down.

if you have a spare psu i'd try that, the more you can narrow down the faulty part the faster you can get to a solution

The only other PSU I have is in my PC, and that could be a problem to unplug everything, however Its 750W so same as the PSU I have, but its not modular.

I'm worried about the pi mostly, I should be able to at least just load the pi interface and add/change pool info, and I cant do that. Unless I'm missing something... Maybe I shouldn't have updated it right away. Can anyone confirm that it is possible to add pool info to the pi without the launcher running?

I decided I might want to format the SD card and install the software on it fresh, I plugged the SD card into my pac and its showing 18.7MB used and 37.2MB free. What the heck, isn't it supposed to be a 8GB card? The imagine you put on it is multiple gigs, I'm either doing something wrong, totally lost, or maybe the problem is this card. Hmm, maybe I need to go buy a new card and try this.

pull out the card n see what it says on it...but ya sometimes running a sd card with something special on it only shows so much space on it whether its a 8gig card showing 37mb...my 16gig card did the same thing when i had to flash my jups and as soon as i reformated it went back to 16gig...

Your right, I got a new SD card, formatted ect, and using it (not updating firmware this time) I can now actually change my pool info at least, thought its still not connecting to the miner by the looks of it. Not sure why, but I've noticed the pi is 5 hours ahead of my time zone, both with the SD card they sent and the new one, not sure if that matters... I've restated a few times and I've got the launcher actually running for over a minute, but still not hashing, I think maybe the card was corrupted or damaged or something. Or maybe it was because I u

So I click reboot, it runs a bit, and then the launcher shuts down after a min again. But hey, at least it ran for a while this time, kinda think its not the PSU at all.

So yea, starting to kick myself for not doing full diligence before ordering one, I don't think there is a single company that makes any kind of ASICs that's taking it seriously. Ill mess more and keep restarting later, but I haven't found anything useful on these errors as of yet. Ty crashoveride and iikun for the help thus far.

you could try and check for data cables that may be loose or unplug n replug everything and maybe lady luck will come find you Smiley yw, i know how it feels to be racking your brain for solutions when you have no idea what it could be and yes i agree with ya on no factory is making this easy...they just want the money n then cya good luck with your pos miner ya over paid for thur the wazoo
425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: July 13, 2014, 01:08:06 AM
look how they mined with the neppy's n the jups...why would they stop there? Tongue

Can you back that statement up with anything concrete? They admitted to "we hash while you wait" but only for what they described as testing; they could (should) have configured customers miner details for this testing so everybody would see a couple hours of shares come through the day before their miners were dispatched... But I don't believe they were running Neptunes in ze dator haal and then meticulously cleaning the fan dust from between the heat sink fins for instance.

u27

not anything concrete but imho its what they did...look at the hashrate that went up when they said they were close to shipping neppys and look at the drop once they started shipping...i'm sure they did the same thing with jups and will continue to do it

Now that GAW have upgraded all VaultBreakers to 750mhs and are offering batch 2 VB for $6999 I wonder what kind of competitive response we will see from KNC ?

https://hashtrader.com/t/vault-breaker-update/2388

er nothing...no refunds....eat it ...(by that point in time say 3rd batch Titans they will be announcing their 3 Titan PH Farms anyway lol)

Searing

who is to say they already don't have their titans farming now? Tongue member their goal is to screw everyone as much as possible right?
I think we would have noticed the diffjump

how would you notice? they could be adding a few units here n there as they make them, cause the diff rate has been climbing with all these asic units Tongue ya never know...look how they mined with the neppy's n the jups...why would they stop there? Tongue

52a is max for the vrm before OCP kicks in n kills the vrm...so with that limitation you don't have much oc'in room...i'd say you'll be lucky to get 550mhz if that outta these units unless you super cool the vrms lmao...but that wouldn't be worth it

What is OCP? (please excuse my ignorance)

How super cool are we talking? Pretty sure the Novec would still keep them at 65 if you were running 100A through them/

EDIT:
Over Current Protection right?

yes, someone in picture your mining rigs already put a neppy in novac stuff and the vrms were cool 50c but he said if he tried to push the vrms past 52a they would shut off...hmmm maybe its unique to each vrm and you just have to play around with setting i guess...idk i don't have one to play with...ahh so maybe you can oc more then...dunno but good luck Smiley

436  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Hacking The KNC Firmware: Overclocking on: July 12, 2014, 03:05:52 PM
Did you have Status or Advanced web page running?
ssh connection?
miner.php using the API?
I have stopped using the gui completely when possible.
Not even running 'screen -r'
I'll see how long going native lasts.
I get hashrate with
'api-cgminer devs'
Get VRM details and clock volt temp stuff same as Advanced
'waas -g all-asic-info'
This also identifies choices for filtering.
To filter out Frequency
'waas -g all-asic-info | grep Freq'
or a different way to see clock only
'cat /var/volatile/run/.waas_curfreq'
The teaser
Code:
root@Neptune:~# cat /var/run/.waas_curfreq
-1 -1 -1 -1 500 500 550 500 500 500 525 525 500 500 550 500 475 500 525 500 475 525 500 525
Find sleeping VRM
'waas -g all-asic-info | grep Iout'
Change things manually instead of Advanced page
'vi /config/advanced.conf'
apply button replacement, use after manual edit of /config/advanced.conf
'waas'
WARNING this may result just like clicking on Apply in the advanced page with some VRM off.
It's random same as Advanced.
YMMV
Smiley
EDIT
I found a way to wake up sleeping VRM
WITHOUT POWER CYCLE!
it's faster!
stop cgminer with
'/etc/init.d/cgminer.sh stop'
if Advanced page is open wait for numbers to drop (20 seconds?)
To just wake up sleepers no changes
'waas'
If you need to apply changes from Advanced do it with cgminer stopped
If you manually edited /config/advanced.conf, run
'waas'
Wait 20-30 seconds for waas to finish.
restart cgminer with
'/etc/init.d/cgminer.sh restart'
look to see if VRM are happy!
Smiley

This is all looking very promising; custom firmware with a "kick sleeping VRM's" button would be really sweet.

Let me know if I can do anything to help; my Novec 7100 just arrived but the tank is not here yet. I'm going to leave it well alone until KfC sort out my dead die issues and then throw one of them in the Novec for consistent 65 degree running across the board. Do we think that the VRM's will tolerate 50A+ if they are properly cooled?

Need the coins to pay the bills, i dont have a whole week to wait for a payout

like i said...either make it way higher n jump to the front of the queue when payout is due or accept that it could be delayed...

What is safe voltage to increase to?

u27

I have gone all the way up on a few dies for a few minutes. Usually this did not encourage them much. What did work for most dies is power cycling the cube while the controller card runs. There are more steps in Kurt's troubleshooting post that involve resetting the miner. I had to do this about 20-25 times in the first week.

If you reset 25 times and it still doesn't work then you'll be ready to RMA that cube. I had to do this with two of my cubes and a controller card. Sad again with insufficient packaging. I don't know who would think a single cardboard strip would survive transport. Cubes were all over the place in one box, their metal shell bent on some.

I'd put money on they did this on purpose Smiley i mean really...do they want all those neppys raising diff. rate so they make less on their DC? i don't think so, I'm just surprised they actually sent out working units...well for the most part...I mean they already designed to fail as fast as possible pretty much with running everything as close to max as they could...surprised they didn't put little jugs of gasoline in there for you guys lol
