421  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: February 24, 2024, 08:21:30 PM
It's not tomorrow yet but on Sunday.

Here's the schedule.

Quote
First Gilas game would be on February 22, 8 p.m., against Hong Kong, followed by the match against Chinese Taipei on February 25, 7:30 PM.

Technically since we are following local PH time here in this thread, it's now February 24th here.

Same here, I also didn't see yet some bookies listing the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers game between Gilas and Chinese-Taipei.

I suggest checking those local bookies within the GCASH app under GLIFE.

I just checked our local bookies, specifically Sportsplus, which is under GLIFE, but could not find that particular game. Both in the local listing and basketball in general, there are no betting odds yet. Well, this is for tomorrow since it's already 2:31 AM in the Philippines now, but let us not lose hope on this. Come back and check again an hour before the game.

You guys are too excited. Cheesy

Just wait for it and it'll be up soon. I was wondering if anybody here were able to be last game? I'm sure that was an easy win as Gilas had dominated the Hongkong by like 30 points (more or less). So if I guess it right, maybe the spread was just around -10 to -15 but sure it's not -20 or more.

Here, I would like to share my guess too, since Chinese Taipei has been a good rival for Gilas Pilipinas during the time of oach Chot (learning experience) then I guess the maximum would be -10. So are you willing to take that high spread?

If I have spare money I can personally take that spread, after witnessing the last game I can say that  Chinese Taipei will have a hard time stopping the system of coach Tim, the blending of players and the trust he's building among them brings additional inspiration in each gilas players. Though we can't conclude what might be the outcome but as personal take I can say that it's really a different squad in terms of team executions, it's no longer a learning stage but a pure competition that they all wanted to win.

Perhaps, we are the new kings in Asia after winning the title in the Asian Cup. We are now very competitive and can beat giant teams like China, as well as other strong teams like Japan and Korea. Regarding the betting odds, they are still not available at this time, and I could conclude that we won't be able to make a bet on this game. It's alright, I guess, as long as we can watch and enjoy it.

After this game, if they can win and achieve a 2-0 record in the qualifier, they can go back to their leagues, and maybe the PBA will also resume soon.

As seen in https://pba.ph/schedule,, the first game will start in February 28.
422  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Start preparing for the next bear run. on: February 23, 2024, 11:57:50 PM
It's very difficult for an average investor or newbie investor to understand bitcoin investment is not from bull run rather than buying them at the bear season with is alone when the market recover you stand a better chance to make a reasonable profits than those that always focused on when the price start gaining some strength before seeing them jump into investment, that is why you find most of them easily come to call bitcoin all such of names because they weren't targeting the right time to invest in bitcoin that venturing the market at the peak price. At such point there is always FOMO where people would start panicking about price. As a crypto enthusiast the best time for investment is during bear market to have a good holdings of most of the important coins.
Newbies will find it hard to understand that investing in bitcoin comes best when the market is bearish as everything they have seen and heard point out that the bullish market is the perfect time to enter the market. So they will follow what majority are doing, only to find out that when they start losing, that’s the time they will come to realized that they should have enter the market while it’s still bearish where all coins prices are sell in bargain.
423  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Does Technical Analysis Really Work? on: February 23, 2024, 09:38:20 PM
Greed is one of the ways we can trade in the market and keep complaining that we are not making any profits from the market.
If we can at least take away greed from our trading journey, we might finally become a good trader if we know what we are doing and how to know go about it staying away from the spirit of greed that could make us to lose in the market.
We can always use technical analysis to analyze the market and try to make money for ourselves if we know what we are doing.
Technical analysis is important for traders to analyze the market but some people will trade and be losing in trading no matter the technical analysis and strategies they are using. Trading is not for everybody. If someone is losing in trading and trying ways to make money but seeing it not working and losing at long time, the person should quit trading is what that is best for the person. Trading is not easy as we think and the emotion we talk about is not easy to control at all. Thinking of trading can even be related to greed because traders prefer to look for money in short period of time like within some minutes or hours. Holding is better and holding means someone do not have greed like traders.
While the trading market remains unpredictable, it’s crucial to see traders know to use technical analysis. If it works for other successful traders, then most likely it will also work to the current traders these days. However, technical analysis cannot be completely reliable for a trader to succeed. There are a lot of factors to consider in order to trade successfully. Greed is one factor that should be avoided or controlled because if a trader uses greed in most of his trades, expect that he won’t maximize his profits when trading.

Having patience and positive attitudes towards trading contribute also to the success of trading. If one is patient enough not to trade when the market is not favorable to trade, then he might control or minimize his losses if ever.
424  Economy / Economics / Re: If being a graduate is the key to being wealthy, why are there poor graduates? on: February 23, 2024, 08:08:11 PM
In my country, their is a saying that goes like this; you must not go to school to be successful, but you have to go to school to be enlightened, education doesn't necessarily guarantee success, but it mostly enlightened you for you to be able to see things differently, but for you to be successful, you have to be able to solves people problem, by rendering service to people in what ever form.

As for me I don't see schooling as a means of being successful, I just sees it as part of the process, that enlightens you, and gives you the ability to have a clear picture of life, but as an individual, you have to have that ability to think out of the box which will definitely make a difference in your life.
Being a degree holder will not guarantee being wealthy in the future, but it can be a stepping milestone so you can achieve your financial goals in life. Schooling is not the key, but investment is certainly the key. If you don’t open your eyes to the reality of life, you will never see progress, if you don’t invest, you will never be wealthy.

However, the process is not that easy. Sometimes getting into your wealth demands sacrifice. So you need to actually compromise what you have been used to do and start getting out from your shell. Be a risk taker and be patient, and always believe in your own skills and capabilities, they are the keys to achieve your wealth in the future.
425  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Lomachenko vs. Kambosos - May 12 IBF Lightweight Title on: February 23, 2024, 07:21:37 PM
Loma cannot be too complacent about not getting a knockout win in Kambosos' country. Just to ensure a victory, he needs to KO him; otherwise, he might be surprised that he is very confident in the ring, thinking he'll win comfortably, but the judges saw it differently. Grin

People will never forget what they did to Pacman, and I hope it will not happen to Loma here since Kambosos has a similar style to Horn, who just loves to attack and throw a lot of punches. If judges count that and he survives the 12 rounds, unexpected things could happen. I'm pretty sure Loma's camp is well aware of that, so it's expected that their game plan is always ready to secure a clear victory.
They did it once, so it will not happen again, as they don't want to accept a lot of criticism. It's also not good for promoters, as they'll know people would not watch if the fight is held in a country where decisions are expected to be biased. This is a title fight; they have to be careful with this, as it's the reputation of the IBF that will be at stake. Just like the fight of Pacman vs Horn, Pacman was the heavy favorite but ended up losing in a unanimous decision; it was a robbery in broad daylight. Horn will never be forgotten, as he is already in the books since Pacman is a legend.

Now, if I could ask, what would be next for Kambosos if he loses this fight? Would he rather retire or continue fighting against non-top boxers?
That's clearly up to him, he has no reputation to protect, so if his intention is to still enjoy his passion and make money at the same time, he'll remain in the pro but he's not gonna have big fights again since he'll drop to the bottom after this.

427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you stand to gain from the bull run. on: February 22, 2024, 08:23:44 PM
As the bull run is right around the corner, most of us newbies have heard about it,  and even the experience crypto enthusiastic knows how and what always transpired during the bull run, but the sad reality is that not everyone will gain from it,  so my question is that what measures have you put in place to be among the beneficiary of the bull run?

We should start asking ourselves question like, how far have we gone in our Bitcoin accumulating process?  If the bull run comes this week, how much can we milk out from our current holdings? if we had any.

For procrastinators, It's high time you all start accumulating Bitcoin aggressively through the DCA method, so that you wouldn't be left out from such an amazing opportunity.
DCA-HODL is the best way to maximize the profit in the coming bull run. It is also a proven safe long term investment strategy most crypto enthusiasts did. In my case since I have no capital to spend for this investment I only invest my time and effort on signature campaign because rewards serves as my DCA way of investment as it is on a weekly payment basis. I am just hodling those Bitcoins I have so I won't miss the chance and opportunity again on this upcoming bullrun.
Majority will surely end up buying and hodling regardless of the price, as they won’t be selling also if there’s no new ATH that will replace the old one. Now, if you don’t have the capital to invest, don’t worry because we are not seeing competition in the market. You’re good if you have the funds already but for those who are still in the process of achieving that funds, saving is the key, not taking a loan or selling another asset just to acquire sufficient funds for bitcoin.

428  Economy / Economics / Re: Isn't it all about money? on: February 22, 2024, 12:57:04 PM
Yes, life is more about money but you can't skip the process of how it's being done because if you do you will definitely don't have the right knowledge on how to go about it, which might make you loose everything, because in life knowledge is everything.

How can you be successful in making money when you actually don't know the process of making money? It might be what ever skill or craft, but in other for you to do it well and be successful, you need to learn, either through school if it's a professional course or a craft.

Let's look at it this way, if you own a business without the right knowledge of how the business is being run, how do you think that business can survive in difficult time? See it's very wrong to skip the learning process because if you do, in the nearest future you will surely pay for it due to incompetence or mismanagement of fund , because you were not trained or educated in the craft.

Money could be the ultimate goal for survival these days, if you don’t have the means to generate money, then you will be left at loss and struggling in life. Although we always say that money is not everything, but let’s admit it, a man without money is like living life meaningless. However, there’s no easy money or free money these days. You have to worked hard for it to gain the amount of money you desire. And in terms of acquiring your funds, being knowledgeable and skillful will always have an edge on gaining money. Otherwise, you will be left behind and live empty.
429  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can you make everybody to win in their crypto trading? on: February 19, 2024, 03:35:35 PM
Even crypto trading experts cannot make everybody to win or earn big profits from their crypto trading at the same time because, for some traders to wait till the real bull to show up in the market, it will make them to feel they are about to miss the opportunity and it can lead them to loose no matter what you do to help such trader.
Even themselves sometimes lose and that's a real thing.

So for one to make the others win, they need to be consistent first with their trades before teaching. But what we're seeing in social medias having these trading gurus.

All they teach you is about the basics and strategies that are based on paper and they don't really execute the trade. While it's a good thing that many learns from them but sometimes, many of them goes to the point that they don't admit their failures or failed trades.
Everyone commits mistakes in trading and is susceptible to losses, and even market experts and trading professionals are not an exception. That is why there's no perfect traders even those crypto influencers in the social media that claimed to be highly successful and profitable traders in the market. This is the very reason why we are not capable to make everyone win in trading, because even ourselves cannot ensure profit consistency.
430  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What game will you choose for one shot big bet? on: February 19, 2024, 12:44:23 PM
I will go with sports betting and make a parlay bet with at least x10 odds combined. There are other types of games, but I find sports betting more thrilling since the outcome is not instant. Additionally, I can use my skills in analyzing and hope to get the right picks on my ticket.

For x10 odds, that is like picking at least 4 teams with a minimum of 1.80 odds each. It might be challenging since it's a parlay, but it's more interesting for me compared to betting on slots with instant results.
431  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 19, 2024, 12:15:15 PM
I am curious how many are watching the All-Stars weekend games these days. Is the rating growing and becoming better than in the old days?
We thought it was boring but based on report they have a high viewership this 2024 all start.

Quote
State Farm All-Star Saturday Night draws most viewers in 4 years
The audience peaked with 5.4 million viewers from 10-10:15 p.m. ET during the Stephen vs. Sabrina 3-Point Challenge.

The overnight numbers are in: 10 million unique viewers in the U.S. watched State Farm All-Star Saturday Night on TNT, truTV and B/R Sports on Max, up 54% vs. last year.

It is the most-watched NBA All-Star Saturday Night in four years.
https://www.nba.com/news/all-star-saturday-night-ratings

I still watch it but mostly not all of them and there are events that I haven't finished. I felt like the older versions were better, especially in the East vs. West All-Stars where they are playing for real even if not 100%. The older All-Stars weekends were at the level of I cannot miss events. Now, I have no problem missing them especially if there are better options to do or watch.

Definitely, I'm with you on that. The old All-Star format is better for me, and probably for most of us here. I don't know what improvements they'll have to make, but at least they should listen to our sentiments so they'll know that there's a need for improvement.
432  Economy / Economics / Re: Some persons lacks financial sensibilities on: February 18, 2024, 10:00:58 PM
If the partner doesn't understand what you are trying to do then the relationship won't work, and generally the relationship in your teen or in 20s just long for a while not forever so never ever make decisions that may change your life for that person.

We should not categorize women lacks financial sensibility but one who knows, know.  Grin

Let's just give the equality they have been protesting on the social media or just let them completely independent, don't take someone's burden as yours unless the person does the same for you.
Its hard to stay in a relationship where mutual understanding is not practiced. That will only create some pressures between both of you. In the end, one may leave the other, or both will just end up get bored and lost interest with each other.

So as early as now, know if you can hold on to that person. Women will be women, but let’s not judge them being insensible just because of a single event. Try explaining about the situation and your concerns about her money struggles. If she refuse to understand you, that may be a sign that she’s not fit for you. Better spend your time and money to other different matters.
433  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How safe is it letting the bank know that you are a BTC Investor? on: February 18, 2024, 09:36:08 PM
Question please: was the official question on me necessary? And was it wrong of me letting her know that I am a BTC investor? My conscience just keep saying "Hello man, you fucked up talking about BTC out there".
Your bank will not steal your money or tamper with your money in their holding, and unless the customer care official recorded it in your profile as an investor in bitcoins, you don't have much to worry about because she will forget it as soon as possible because she deals with a lot of people daily.

As further advice, always consider the legal conditions of bitcoins in your country before discussing about it publicly with any person, or even claiming to be an investor.
Otherwise, learned not to disclose about bitcoin and just create other source of income that will support your funds, I’m sure the bank will not ask deep details on it. For me, whether bitcoin is legal or illegal in your country, it’s still best to protect your investment from being recognized by other people. Who knows, some bank’s staff will plan against your account since they are now aware how much funds are saved in your account.

Be cautious in all that you do most particularly if it concerns bitcoin. We don’t invest and let other people benefit our bitcoins, that’s why we have to stay them unknown to others.
434  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do not gamble with Loan Money~otherwise you will be in danger like me on: February 18, 2024, 11:38:35 AM
I hope you recover from your downturn, and make this an experience so you can control your emotions when gambling, consider gambling to entertain yourself, not to make money, use the money you can spare to gamble, avoid making deposits continuously

When we consider gambling as entertainment, it doesn't necessarily mean you don't have to win or that you can't be ambitious to be a winner in the long run. It often starts as a form of fun as that's how we are taught, but as we discover strategies and believe we can win, we might become more serious about gambling. The problem arises when a gambler is not winning, yet they force the issue, refusing to accept the reality that their chances of winning are low. Instead, they may gamble more, feeling challenged and holding onto the belief that they can win, even if their records indicate otherwise.
435  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: February 18, 2024, 09:01:58 AM
However, it was Dame time yet again, he defended his title, KAT was only able to make the final round.

KAT and Trae Young both reached the Finals; bettors could have cashed in big money if one of them had won the competition. If I recall correctly, the odds were around x6.5 for Trae Young and x7.00 for KAT. This big man is more reliable than the other bigs; I mean, he has done it before, so there's always the confidence in him. Still, a fun competition to watch. I just miss Curry; things could have been different or easier for him.
436  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jason Moloney vs Reymart Gaballo WBO Bantamweight Title (May 12) on: February 18, 2024, 08:07:34 AM

That was two years ago, I'm sure he learn his lesson and as we can see on his fights after that, he had 3 straight wins, 2 are in KO and one is Split decision against his fellow Filipino Boxer. The last one is something very impressive, it's probably the reason why he was given a break on becoming a top contender against Jason Moloney. I believe it's a 50/50 fight but we are lucky that we can get an odds of an underdog.

Yeah, he had 3 fights after that but he hasn't a boxer with big name in the boxing industry.  This will be his next attempt after losing to Donaire if we are talking about real challenge. His last match was pretty much impressive, so you can see that he really have the skills to KO someone even in the early rounds. However, this one is a championship fight, he is the challenger so I'm sure he'll be very careful right from the get go, being careless like what happened against Donaire might lead to another KO loss, although his opponent though doesn't have a high KO percentage but he has KO wins, so it's still possible.
437  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much knowledge is enough to satisfy an individual on: February 17, 2024, 09:02:35 PM
Even in this forum I have also seen high ranked members who are staff and with thousands of posts and merits yet they also post every day hoping to be merited as well , and the question again here Is when will they be satisfied?.

This is wrong, I doubt there's a single high-merit user who posts just to earn merits. All of them are hardcore Bitcoin enthusiasts who like to share their knowledge or discuss everything surround Bitcoin with other knowledgeable users. Their posting patterns didn't change with the introduction of the merit system.

Also, the idea that this forum is a place of knowledge is just a merit fishing narrative that gets spammed by newbies. This forum is a place of discussion, which is different from knowledge. This is not a stackoverflow which has harsh moderation and community voting - you can ask questions here and have no idea whether the replies are actually good or bad, because everyone is equal here - posts can't be downvoted or removed for being wrong.
Meriting is not the goal in the forum, but to educate every individual that comes in the forum, and if you get merits, that’s only a bonus. As long as you stick to the idea that this forum is an avenue for knowledge and development of potential skills, then the best you can do is to never stop from posting new ideas and insights that will add to the different concepts of every forum member.

Since you are in the forum, one is obliged to learn and get into the discussion through posting on what you can share about the topic. Whether your post is meritable or not, as long as it can contribute to the goal of the forum, I think that’s good enough. But if you can exert more effort to make your post meritable, then that would do a lot better.
438  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Post quality matters than replying fast on: February 17, 2024, 08:25:50 PM
The most important thing about replying to a post is to understand the post head and what it says before being the first to reply to it.

Being the first to reply to a post doesn't make one a good poster that will receive more merits than others, who will reply to a post when it passes the first page.

That being said, every member of this forum understands that whether their post is on the first page or the last page, it will be read by others and have outer exposure and explanation given. However, it doesn't matter when you find it necessary to reply to a post because what matters most is the quality of the post not when you have the reply to a post, posted.
Posting is an easy thing, that only time it gets difficult is when you don’t know what to post to make it more interesting and informative to the one who can read it. Not all members in the forum are knowledgeable on every topic posted, most of the time you still have to make extended research out on every topic so you can share your best shot to that topic. And it’s just a bonus if you can post your reply quickly, but it does not matter anymore, as the major content of your post is what matters most, how it will create an impact to the next posters of the same topic.
439  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: STOP telling people how much Bitcoin you have on: February 17, 2024, 03:40:02 PM
What op have shared is something I believe have been discussed here multiple time, well, I don't know how many, but atleast, I still remember coming across, and even commenting on same topics or subjects as this, a multiple time on this board.

Anyways, I completely agree with what is being discussed, it is always wrong to let people (both the ones we know, and ones we don't know personally) know how much bitcoin we own, and this rule is not peculiar to bitcoin alone, it is a rule we have to apply to our finance in general, the world have gone far from what it used to be in terms of safety, no one can be trusted even a sibling, letting people know how much bitcoin we own could also mean we selling ourself out, it's a very risky and dangerous thing to do honestly.
Absolutely. I don’t know but as long as money is involved, it’s like no one can be trustworthy of that as even your closest sibling or even your best of friends may plan on attacking you behind your back.  Bitcoin is not an exception as it’s even more than your fiat’s value in your bank account. If you want to pursue your investment and live your life safely and privately, hence never share what you have in your investment portfolio because people will surely not be pleased to hear that.

Sometimes, your success may be their greatest downfall. So be careful on sharing to them. You don’t know what they’re thinking when you start disclosing your plans. Most particularly when it comes to bitcoin, it’s better to deal on it anonymously.

440  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casinos team identity on: February 17, 2024, 01:31:18 PM
it's probably 'cause they're representing a company, you know? The name of the business is, like, the company name. If you got an issue with them and wanna go all lawsuit mode, you won't be suing the owners or the team one by one. You'd be filing that case against the whole company, so, like, it's not really necessary to spill their identities.

But, like, for some reason, you might know the team members, especially if they're just starting out with things like crowdfunding. Back in the day, with crowdfunding and all, they used to let people know who's in charge of the show, so people could check if they're trustworthy and got the skills.
