0.97 also shows a continuous drop of hashrate for me from 500 to 470 (3 hour average eligius).

Actually.. it doesn't seem to be coming back in any previous firmware. Last value was 450 and that's where it stayed. I read compatible reports on KNC's forum. I fear 0.97 might damage bad Jupiters... Careful upgrading yours.

.96 does seem to be better than .97 on good jupiters.   I haven't tried it on a bad jupiter yet..  so far bad jupiters hash better on .94 'overclocked' running bfgminer but the VRMs/chips do have to take a beating..  perhaps heatsinks?

to 'cure' modules, remove the asic_test file and install .96, run enable cores and few times and reboot.   It should do its 1-2 min asic tests and then reboot itself.  you should have more enabled cores again

How do I remove that asic_test file??
+1

Please some help on this.  I can't seem to find the answer.

I'm not sure why you need to remove this file - I would think it would just overwrite it, but if you really want to remove it:

SSH into the machine, then:

# cd /config
# rm asic_test

The '#' is the command line prompt - don't type that.

Well, I read to try it here.  And I read about it on the knc forum.  Seems like someone wants a guinea pig.  Any success with this?  Anyone?

I've been away from this thread for a while.  Any answers to fixing hardware errors?  My 1st jup is rocking like clockwork steady 554, usually higher on pool.  2nd is hurting.  HW errors all over.  Cgminer says 530 gh, pool=480-520.  I can hear my 2nd hashing loader than the 1st.  What's up with that?

I'm using .95 on both.  Tried the others. This is the best I get.

All I'm asking is that if I helped you get your Jupiter set up quickly, maybe it's worth something to you.  I'm not asking the general public for donations.  It's implied towards knc miners.  Maybe I should specify.

Newegg, and it's really quiet.  It puts out some heat though.  Good thing winter is coming.

Has anyone come up with something else to do with them once they truly are useless?  Something like SETI or Folding?  That goes for the FPGAs and BFL Jallys in a month or so.
Mine SHA-256 altcoins.  That's all they're good for.  I guess you could look at them and admire the tech, but besides hashing SHA-256, they're useless.

I remember seeing instructions on how to apply the firmware. A link?

Thanks for the hint, I'll add sth.
Have a look on page 4, manual.
https://www.kncminer.com/userfiles/file/manual.pdf

Found it.  I also found out how to view your cgminer stats.  Download putty.

Make sure your KNC miner is set to "SSH enabled" under the Services tab.
Open putty, enter your miner's IP address into the 1st field you see.  No need to open any other menu.
Putty will open and ask if you're sure you want it to access the network, say yes.
Then enter your ID/PW.  Note:  the ID is "root", PW is your miners password which is defaulted to "admin".  If you changed it, enter what you changed it to.
It will then show your miner's name, enter "screen -r"
That's it.

I finally convinced an Austrian friend to dump some of his silver and buy bitcoin with it.  He found out that EuroPacific capital charges 3% to cash out of his silver position.  Yes, that's right.  Peter Schiff's company charges THREE PERCENT to get out of a position.  Of course he is never going to promote bitcoin when he can rape people that hard by plugging metals.
I bought silver/gold from europac and they told me there's 0 fee to liquidate gold and silver is 0.65 cents per oz.  That equates to ~3% at current price.

I just listened to the Tom Woods interview with Eric Voorhees and you didn't miss anything.

i have belkin wemo swich 49$ work fine

Hows it work with no internet?
That's pretty cool too.  I live in an apartment complex.  Maybe I can tap a neighbors wifi to get this to work.  But I can't depend upon it. I may consider one of these for security purposes.  Thanks!

In the year -400 (more or less) Aristoteles defined the characteristics that should have money, durable, portable, divisible, intrinsically value, scarce, difficult to falsify. Fiat currency does not meet them and it is a very bad money. Gold meet those criteria but its obsolete and not practical. Bitcoin meet Aristoteles criteria much better. Franklin Roosevelt stole the gold but he could not have stolen bitcoins.

Gold has been used during thousands of years that is why some people like Peter Schiff or Mike Maloney are very stubborn and do not accept new technologies, bitcoin is a big threat to them and do not want to accept this change.
At the end of world war I british invented the tank and it was a threat to the cavalry because it would replace it. The members of cavalry said that tanks were a shit, not practical and could not replace the cavalry which existed for thousands of year. When world war II started the german tanks won very very easily the polish cavalry. Bitcoin will do the same that did the tank.
I believe you and I understand what your saying.  But bitcoin is only good for one thing.  Au/Ag have industrial purposes.  I think that's the difference.  They have a very long history.  So until bitcoin can prove itself through history, people will remain skeptical.

tweet Tom Woods today

Talking to @ErikVoorhees later this week about the future of Bitcoin after Silk Road. Got any good questions? #tlot

Is KNC updating firmware as they go out the door?
436  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How can I remotely power cycle my modem/router? on: October 10, 2013, 05:22:07 PM
Maybe use one of those timers which people use to autmatically power the lights on and off to scare the thiefs? and then just set it like a real short off period and you should be all set!
you know, that's actually a really good idea. Thanks!
437  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How can I remotely power cycle my modem/router? on: October 10, 2013, 04:42:53 AM
What model of modem/router do you have? If oyu put DDWRT on it you can (from memory) schedule power cycles when internet times out or set times.

I remember it being handy when I was in a shitty area where dropouts were common (damn kookaburras on the phone wires haha)
sorry, I went in vacation out if the country and lost track of my own thread.  But as soon as I got back I bought a new netgear WNDR4500.  It's fast as hell!!  I get 115mb/s on my iMac wireless.  My comcast contract is for only 25mb/s.

When we're old and grey these thing are going to be like 1st ed Spider-Man comic books IMHO.

HELP.. I have no idea how to use wireshark...  and cant find the ip address of the miner...
is there an easy way?

i have a netgear router and there's an iPhone app where you can see your devices.  It's called "netgear genie."  So if you have netgear, just get the app.

Okay, it's been a while, but last Friday, Oct. 4th (the 100th anniversary of the US income tax) Peter talked about the Silk Road seizure and bitcoin.
