421  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] Bitcoin Penny 2019 Special Limited Edition Silver Roll! on: June 27, 2023, 11:11:59 PM
Lot 1: 0.01 BTC

That's a really sexy woodcase. Is this exclusive for these rolls or was it used for other items, too?
Any numbers on mintage of these special edition rolls?
422  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Kialara Physical Bitcoins/HAVEN: Update on: June 26, 2023, 11:25:06 PM
Estimated price point?
It's available already via the official website: https://kialara.com/product/guardians/
I highly recommend checking out the info site including videos: https://kialara.com/how-it-works-guardians/
On the fence here, the cartoonish-AI art just isn't really my thing. Otherwise amazing work.

Introducing a fresh perspective on the concept of self-custody.

https://kialara.com/product/guardians/
Wow, with that fluorescent marker it looks incredible. Very techy/alien style.
Seems like quite some work to put your keys in, especially since you really need to avoid a "misclick" with those dots. But I am happy to see something different and artsy in that field.

Are these numbered?
I would guess so given that they have unique stones each, but also would like to know for sure.

They do indeed look awesome. Congrats on this successful custom ballet wallet design. Suprised to see the colored print work so well here.

Thanks again for a very generous raffle.
GL all!

426  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it true that if you bounce bitcoin back and forth to different wallets on: June 26, 2023, 12:35:17 AM
that after a certain amount of time the bitcoin becomes practically anonymous? As in, not being able to be traced back to the original KYC exchange, or in the case of "tainted" bitcoin, that?

As others have already stated, the simple answer is no.
If you care for coin anonymity, you should check out mixing services. Ideally open-source wallets with so called whirlpool features. See the wallet section of this forum. This is a good start: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5457078.0

On the topic of why you can't just send your funds to a few new addresses that you own to create anonymity, search "chain-analysis".

Generally I would recommend to check out Andreas Antonopoulos as a first resource to get informed about some Bitcoin fundamentals.

427  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [INFO]-Crypto Stamps- Collectable Blockchain postage stamps on: June 25, 2023, 06:20:08 PM

JanEmil....Thanks for sharing this. Are the Faroe islands part of Denmark? I think these come out to $14 each.

I like the nature aspect theme on these stamps.

[...]
Agreed, very beautiful nature/animal designs here. QR code is big but overall this design looks 100x better than recent Austria CS.

[...]
But but wait!!  Payment can be made in crypto ie metamask or direct payment in BTC and others or via crypto.com.
As easy as abc.

That explanation does sound like copy-pasted from a shady NFT-something-pyramid-scheme-scam, lol.
Please share when you find out what actually was in your mystery box.
428  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] CryptoImperator Bitcoin 10 Year Anniversary Set on: June 25, 2023, 06:16:02 PM
Can you update this pics?
I wouldn't rely on imgur anymore, but most of their pics still work as far as I know. Just embedding to bitcointalk posts doesn't.
Here is a direct link to the photo: https://i.imgur.com/rhgzJq0.jpg

Is there any record of these sets selling in the second-hand market?
Amazing set, a little out of my range, GL with the sale, AT!
429  Local / Presse / Re: Das FTX-Drama geht weiter… on: June 25, 2023, 12:09:23 AM
Mal wieder ein kleines Update für diesen Thread. Anbei ein ganz interessanter Artikel: FTX paid over $120 million in advisor fees between February 1 and April 30

Quote
The legal and advisory costs for bankrupt crypto exchange FTX are mounting.

Filings submitted on June 15 by FTX's advisors show that fees and expenses for the period between February 1 and April 30 totaled $121.8 million, according to data compiled by The Block Research.

FTX lawyers at Sullivan & Cromwell billed the bankrupt exchange $37.6 million for the period, amounting to 30.9% of all fees and expenses. Investment banking firm Jefferies billed the lowest amount, making up 0.6% of the total fees and expenses.

Restructuring consultants at Alvarez and Marsel charged $37 million with over $1.1 million in expenses that included $51,225 in meals, $149,155 in lodging and other miscellaneous items amounting to $1,995.

"As restructuring advisors, their claims and compensation sit on top of other claims and are 'super senior' to the unsecured claims bucket which includes customer deposits," The Block Research's Greg Lim.

Exchange restart

The mounting costs of FTX's bankruptcy are fueling a movement among some former clients to reboot the exchange under new leadership to return value to customers.

Travis Kling, the chief investment officer at Ikigai Asset Management, once referred to a reboot as “one of the most bullish outcomes possible for creditors.” Ikigai held a majority of its assets on FTX.

Loomdart, an anonymous crypto personality, is leading the charge on a movement dubbed the FTX 2.0 coalition. In his view, the regulatory woes facing Coinbase and Binance make a relaunch more viable.

Per filings, FTI Consulting spent about 686.8 hours and billed fees of $761,997.70 on a workstream titled "Exchange restart."

431  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Is it possible to read a private key under a hologram using an X-ray? on: June 24, 2023, 11:26:47 PM

Scary. I think if you put enough (criminal) energy in cracking most of these physical security features, you can possibly find ways.

Regarding the X-ray question: I remember discussing this a while ago with some folks that are quite tech savy and their estimate was with a modern and rightly callibrated x-ray-machine you would probably be able to read an engraved private key.
Haven't heard of anyone putting this to the test so far, though.

Also I am certain there is current technology (if not just an x-ray machine) that would be able to do this. Most of this tech is probably still extremely expensive and only in the hands of a few researchers and scientists in fields that don't really care about stealing a few BTC from crypto collectibles.
432  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [INFO] EBAY bitcoin/cryptocurrency finds!!! on: June 24, 2023, 11:20:06 PM
Just found a hand-poured bismuth coin with the Bitcoin logo on eBay. I've received mine today and it looks awesome. Get yours here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/175670020020

Looks awesome. Is the cat included (see ebay)?
What kind of material is bismuth? For some reason my mind has marked it as "toxic" but not sure. Just checked wikipedia, it says an intoxication is unlikely to happen but similar to that of lead poisining.
Just don't eat the coin I guess.
433  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WARNING] Sol Noctis Bull Coin Keys Compromised / Scam on: June 24, 2023, 11:16:59 PM
Can i get a 5th grade explanation for whats happening here?

Some, possibly all, of these coins have had their keys compromised
The key that comes with the coins is not in a standard private key format. So, if you want to peel the coin and redeem the BTC you have to do a couple of other steps.
A few years ago cwil posted a way of converting what they give you to a standard private key, but it required some programming knowledge. I posted a simpler way.

As to why they used a non standard format, who knows.

-Dave

Compromised is not correct term.... that would indicate something happened such as the sweeping of funds.

They were "improperly formated"

Thanks to you both for sharing this method of converting to "normal" private keys.
I was also confused regarding *compromised* - so glad to hear they are not (yet  Roll Eyes )  - not sure if I do remember correctly, though, some of the newer ones (the 0.001 denominated bulls) had issues with the private keys readablility when peeled. Can anyone confirm / negate this?
434  Economy / Collectibles / Re: AVAST! Bitcoin Penny® Spanish Treasures Collection now be here! on: June 21, 2023, 07:55:33 PM
Very pretty collectible pieces. Probably the first silver and gold hand-pressed Bitcoin collectibles I would assume?
Design is fantastic. Will reach out via dm for a set or two.
Aaaarrrrrg!

btw, that box design is fantastic, Mopar. Looks a little bit big for a few coins - what are the actual dimensions of this thing?

gabecoin did a 1gram gold - i think it was hand pressed - pretty damn small though icg couldnt slab it as it was too small lol
Ah, this rings a bell! It only had a BTC stamped on one side, right?
I do have a minted 1 g goldcoin - it's pretty pretty imho, but you do need a microscope to read the text...
(yes, a strong magnifying glass does the job, too)

as for the dimensions - the one I completed is 100mm wide x 85mm deep and 81mm tall --- I made some modifications and now printing at 75% of that size. First of the new ones will be done in 9 hours.

I think the link expires in 2 days but here is a time lapse of the first one printing

https://streamable.com/2c4j0a
Ah, not too tiny for a few coins, I thought maybe it's playmobile sized.
That timelapse is so cool! Can you make a cookie-chocolate version? This looks tasty for some reason? xD

This amazing wallet arrived yesterday. It is massive, does look amazing and must be seen (and held) in person to be able to fully appreciate it.
Big shoutout to Sentinel for this piece of art.

I put a few items, including a Kialara bar in the picture to give an idea of the true dimensions of this thing.
437  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: A Non-Custodial wallet, Atomic Wallet, being compromised on: June 19, 2023, 11:07:01 PM
-snip-

If you check the tweeter's previous post, you can see that he linked this GitHub page: https://github.com/osarjuhcnus/atomicwalletsdesktopource#readme

So apparently, someone who lost money from this hack decompiled Atomicwallet and posted its source code for people to try and find the vulnerability.

How high is the possbility that the AtomicWallet developers backdoored their own software? Because it's so unexplainable why they still haven't shut their whole infrastructure down, or that they still allow for the wallet to be downloaded?

The Bitcoin community, and all of cryptocurrencies would receive another massive "LOSS" if some nefarious motive was found in the source code.

I would hate to post another tin-foil hat idea, but if there was something in the code, I would say that someone in Atomic's team is a plant.

 Cool

Given what we have witnissed last year alone (FTX, Yogg...) I'd say it's quite likely. If there are several devs, it just needs one rotten apple to put in a backdoor and abuse it at some point when it seems profitable.
Then again, there is also a good chance it was some vulnurability within some dependency/package in their codebase. Maybe one of their own devs found out and decided to take advantage or someone from outside.
I clearly lean towards inside job, though. Chances are just higher.

Nothing too suprising, though.
And another great example why open source MUST be the standard for critical software such as wallets in the Bitcoin space.
438  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Stacks Bowers June Showcase Auction for Physicals is Tomorrow! Polymerbit Debut! on: June 19, 2023, 10:54:44 PM
Collectibles in this forum are undervalued.

I have the opposite opinion - I feel that the items here are more accurately priced here on the forums where more knowledgeable people are and out there - the fomo and the hype make people spend 10x what they should and eventually later they will find out they were ripped off - in some of the cases - and then it goes counterproductive to our niche.

that said, it is an auction at least and not just some blanket stupid high price slapped on it.

really puts the importance on "DYOR" before buying.
I tend to agree more with polymerbit on this. Sure, it's easy to dismiss most of art and collectible markets as overvalued. If you see it that way, then outside forum prices for crypto collectibles are probably overpriced.
But our forum isn't frequented much, many auctions aren't recognized by more than a dozen collectors, so how does this represent a "realistic" price? I guess the "real" value of most collectibles is somewhere in the middle of forum prices and high bids in Stacks auctions.
Long run, when/if Bitcoin becomes mainstream and more and more collectos become aware of this field, current prices will most likely still be peanuts compared to what will be called normal then.

Mentioning Satori chips....I would love to place an entire roll and see how that would do on this auction site...but then again they would want them to all be graded first...Can't see myself taking apart a roll just for the grading.

I think the roll in itself is a collectable and would leave it the way it is as its worth more that way than broken apart.

Just my two Sats on that subject  Wink

agreed! do not break open the roll!
Good point. A full roll would be very interesting - maybe there is a way to get it verified without breaking the seal?

Question regarding the wallet, does Ballet support colors like in the photo you posted?
Is the design similar/ the same? In any case, please provide a picture of the wallet when they get to you, really curious to see how they look.
