Not sure why you would quote my entire post then claim I had something that which I had not.  You're loss, not mine.
4202  Economy / Reputation / Re: Marlboroza & nutidah pushing double standards on Timelord2067. on: May 16, 2020, 02:55:06 AM
bonesjonesreturns and nutidah seem to be oblivious to the fact that whatever imaginary transgression marlboroza perceived that I had done, he seems to now have moved on from that point as evidenced by this:

Quote

marlboroza had tried to coax people into condoning his giving me a negative trust feedback but he now needs to lock that thread given that he himself (marlboroza) has given me both a neutral *and* a positive trust feedback since his thread was started.

I don't perpetuate a rift, I say my piece, then I am done:

  • Both bonesjonesreturns and marlboroza are using my situation to attack others - the former doesn't support me (not really) while the latter doesn't oppose me as the screen shot shows.
  • Both bonesjonesreturns and marlboroza now need to lock their threads this one and this one and just move on.

I know I have.

I had a feeling that might be the case - my coding skills are ancient, so I'd need someone's help with the right code if it were possible.  Fortunately, my scores are pretty much as high as they'll go, so I only have to up the scores once in a while (maybe fortnightly).

Thanks again.

logfiles was the one asking the questions, I was answering their enquiries.

And I'm correcting and supplementing your answer. I hope that's ok.

Just a suggestion (because you asked) had you addressed logfiles then I would have understood your intention.

ibminer had a poll about airdropped merit.

I must have nodded off when that poll was announced here... It was announced here - yes?

Please leave this shit out of this thread.

That shit was started in this thread because I made a suggestion - *just* a suggestion.  I'm the one with the mill-stone around their neck yet I'm the one who's ignoring both of you and have moved on.  Can you?

4206  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BETA] BPIP Extension - user info add-on / extension for Firefox, Chrome, et al on: May 16, 2020, 01:07:43 AM
How could I do an API (or as a Firefox extension for that matter) so my scores update on the fly in my signature:

Same question for when I'm DT1 or (currently) DT2.

Thanks for reading/replying.
4207  Economy / Reputation / Re: Known Alts of any-one - A User Generated List Mk III (2020 Q2) on: May 16, 2020, 12:52:55 AM
Hello want to appeal against my negative rating witch i think is wrong

I received negative trust because the account that i sold later was caught scamming,i sold the account before that, the other user that bought the account started scamming

i know this is 4 years ago,but i didnt have the negative until recently,i think im wrongly accused,i would just like that you get into this, because i have never scammed anyone in my life, you can see my record on the forum its perfect

OK, stop right there.

http://archive.is/pkP26#selection-3841.0-4103.3 (which I reference at the bottom of this post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1206112.msg15758894#msg15758894 in a locked thread)

9th of October 2014 (*before* you say you sold the account) you and your alt both claimed BitCoin from the same giveaway one post apart.

Case Closed.

Hi @ibminer @suchmoon I think there needs some improvement on the most merited ranking and badge. As of now the website is using the ranking of most merited based on Earned plus Airdropped Merits. So we are having even members who earned only 3 Merits since the Merit system was implemented over 2 years ago and are still in the top 1000 positions just because they have 1000 airdropped merits like this profile yet a person who has been active and earned 900 Merits from 0 doesn't even have the badge.

Why don't we start giving members badges based on "Most Earned Merits" instead of Most Merited?

Read the post preceding yours and you'll see that it's not easy to come up with a solution that pleases everyone. If we do something based on earned merits it may be in addition to (not instead of) total merits but for now it will likely stay as it is.

Hi @logfiles, I can actually correct a misconception that keeps reoccurring and the silence from suchmoon and ibminer on suggestions on how to correct their error tells me that they don't want to listen to other people's suggestions. - ok, I withdraw that remark - perhaps they just don't know how to fix it?

If you look at this page: https://archive.vn/mdxSv

You will see my rankings are as follows:

If you look down the left hand side you can see the tables for MATR and MERIT INFORMATION and can see my merit values on the 3rd of February 2020 were as follows:

Notice at this point in January/February 2020 both the MATR Merit Score and the Merit Information RANK are the same value: 284

In the weeks that followed, ownership of the website changed hands ( @Vod etc can clarify when exactly that occurred ) and a new, previously unseen rank of MOST MERITED was introduced.

The URL https://bpip.org/report.aspx?r=earnedmerited was changed to https://bpip.org/report.aspx?r=earnedmerit and although it is the ranking system that is used in the three part calculation along with MOST ACTIVE and MOST TRUSTED, what you now see is the MOST MERITED factoring in the so-called air-dropped initial merits (in my case 1,000 merits) on the user profile page which makes it look my merits have jumped up to what they are today:

My Rank of MOST POSTS has jumped from 366th place to 299th place, that much is true. However, if you go down the left hand side again you'll see the RANK for "merit" on the two lines are now different:

In January/February 2020 my Merit Score was hovering around 284. Today, the 16th of May 2020, my Earned Merit Score (what overall RANK is calculated on) is 281.  No real change.  A side discussion on the fact that two (or two hundred and twenty-nine) people can have the same score but have two (or two hundred and twenty-nine) different RANKS (as well as my asking them to clarify how they rank such equal scores disproportionality) is another issue S&I aren't responding to. (As is another suggestion of mine in opening up the RANKS across the board to the first ten thousand ranks)

Thanks for your answer.

I know that, but it doesn't tell me why the change. "Most merited" rankings used to be based on earned merit.
New owners....
I got that. But it makes no sense. It's like a race where people don't start at the same point but have the same finish line  Grin

As I've said in the post @suchmoon references, time and again people will continue to repeatedly ask why their scores don't marry up with the rank and then just a few days later, you came on to ask the same question.

Why don't we start giving members badges based on "Most Earned Merits" instead of Most Merited?

That's a good question.  They did, but called it MOST MERITED, then they created a new rank called EARNED MERIT which is the same thing.

IIRC --> @Vod had hinted at other badges the only one I could recall him mentioning was a donation to the BPIP site badge (<-- IIRC).  There would be no difficulties (I wouldn't have thought) with BOTH the Most Merited AND the Earned Merit badges being displayed side-by-side (in that order) on the ranking page.  It would certainly cut down on the repeated questions about the error in showing a rank of e.g. 117 but using a calculation of 281 which @ibminer slapped me with distrust for simply asking that question.

I now distrust ibminer because after he distrust me he accused me [1a], [1b] of placing a virus in my link to a Google Spread Sheet and now Trolls me when he does respond to my posts.  (Not very professional for someone in what is supposed to be a serious thread)

Another work-around if they don't want to show MOST MERITED and EARNED MERIT side-by-side would be when a mouse hovers over the MOST MERITED shield it swivels around to show the EARNED MERIT shield in its place.  At a glance, you can see your overall merits, and peek at the earned merits.

I doubt either S or I will respond, all we can do is tally up the number of times they get asked the exact same question.

Thanks for reading.
4210  Other / Meta / Re: [Ref] Hey theymos I've got a brilliant idea (honest!) & other symbols of use on: May 15, 2020, 12:34:57 PM
One thing that we open up with the introduction of more and more symbols is the idea of confusables. Obviously, your additional of an [eth] symbol doesn't reach this but the introduction of further symbols starts to teeter towards the plagiarism dodging.

Example: p ; ρ  | o ; ɒ  (source)

I've seen a few discussions about varying symbols being slotted in to trick people, my Mobile alt uses a zero in the main and a letter oh - Oscar in the mobile alt.  So far no one seems silly enough to impersonate either with even more complex variations.

Just writing ETH makes it perfectly clear what you mean. Only Bitcoin should get special treatment on a forum about Bitcoin.

It seems like the question is mostly decided. (At least your AI can reference the thread from now on in examples Wink )

Just as a side question, how do people differentiate between the "other" bitcoins?  (e.g. Cash, SV (shudder) - or even Lightning Network)??
4211  Other / Meta / Re: [Ref] Hey theymos I've got a brilliant idea (honest!) & other symbols of use on: May 15, 2020, 06:59:14 AM
Concerning the non coin related symbols, my screenshot of the bounty section was just an example. If you would make the every-day user aware of the possibility, that they are able to use many different buttons or symbols in their posts, I am sure many more people would use these. Posts would get unbelievably messy and hard to read. I don't believe anyone wants to read posts all day, that look like the todays posts in the bounty section.

My point was that that is an unrelated issue (and IIRC there's a separate thread for discussion on removing or limiting their use here on BCT)

If we (bitcoiners) get involved in creating a symbol for ETH, then why not do it also for other coins Huh

I've seen an often used Ether symbol in various places, that's the symbol I'm referring to.  I'm not suggesting we introduce symbols for any or all alts, I'm just talking about one piece of BBCode which users can, or don't use as they wish.
4212  Other / Meta / Re: [Ref] Hey theymos I've got a brilliant idea (honest!) & other symbols of use on: May 15, 2020, 05:35:50 AM
...

Thanks for your input, however your reasoning is flawed - show me a topic that has the BitCoin symbol embedded in the title.  (There are none) You are confusing the ability to put symbols via Android (and Apple??) from mobile devices.  I'm talking about utilising BBCode to show other alt coins, specifically just Ether (for the moment at least)

Hey theymos - I've got a brilliant idea... (honest!)

I've made this a poll so others can vote and make their opinion known to @theymos.  Comments welcome.

Background:

We have a symbol for BitCoin by typing [BTC] which gives us:

BTC

Why not have a corresponding symbol for Ether [ETH] and some of the other symbols that are used in the currency exchange/lending and other places around the forum?

[ETH]

Am just putting these here as well for people to use:

£ $ ₹ € ¥ ¢ ≠ ÷ ™

Other Symbols people have trouble with:

½ ¼ ¾ ⅓ ⅔ ⅛ ⅜ ⅝ ⅞

Yet more symbols:

№ Ω ₤ ♀ ♂ ♠ ♣ ♥ ♦

Thanks for reading.

It seems otto_diesel has not been banned but is (thankfully) no longer posting in the forum. He was last active on 10th February 2020 which was well over 3 months ago.

If you use the BPIP extension for Firefox, then you can see if a user is banned, inactive, archived etc.

You might have given them *three* positives, but they haven't given you anything.

To be fair, Bit_Happy didn't say that the compliment was in the form of trust feedback. It would be quite weird to use the trust system to compliment someone on posting quality.

Pardon?

Weird to complement, but ok to run them down?
Really?

I suppose I should feel privileged you're reading my messages again, there's some questions for you on the BPIP thread...

If Darkstar digs deep enough, he can find out that Stunna gave me a really nice compliment on the quality of my posting several years ago.

No... no they didn't...

You might have given them *three* positives, but they haven't given you anything. (and Stunna hasn't been online in twelve days, [1a], [1b] so they can't have just removed it just now either)
