It is not FUD. It is just our opinion of the point of block chains. Those who agree with you that block chains should be permissioned ledgers like a fiat system or Paypal, will stay with ETH. But as others are pointing out to you, violating the raison d'être of block chains is very likely to cause you to lose most of the community support. You'll only be left with idiots, R3 bankers, and the whales who've been allegedly pumping this token by manipulating the float on Poloneix and Krakan. Also, I think this is the dumbest thing they could ever do. It goes against all they claimed the DAO would be and it will put a large piece of bought ether for DAO directly on the market.
Would they fork if my project lost "just" 10k ether due to a fault? No. They shouldn't do it now either.
Put it to a community vote and see if you get consensus to get your ETH back. If you do then fine you can get it back. |

Bitcoin was once in bad shape for the first couple of years, Up and Down Side to Side. Ether is smart and so is DAO. They just need more time. However..... ETH and DAO are not day trading currencies. You will become very wealth if you buy into ETH/DAO now and park it for 5 years!
I just don't think the DAO will actually recover. Why would anyone trust something, that was so catastrophically broken that it costs millions of dollars? As you have said, eth over long term, but otherwise, these assets aren't going anywhere too soon. I agree. If you are after a profit sooner rather than later. DONT buy into eth or dao. But if you can afford a couple of hundred dollars to throw into a eth/dao wallet and forget about it for a while..... DO IT. The DAO/Ethereum is very risky business. It is for speculation only at the moment. If you have extra money, buy some. But not yet. Id wait til right before the fork, or right after it. The price is entirely too unstable at the moment, as previously said. I might enter the market a few weeks after the hard fork. Things might settle down during that period. The price is low due to the bitcoin shills. But the bitcoin price is also dropping at the moment. They are destroying both. Observe the current price of ETH. No one is shilling at you, because many of us have been saying the same shit for months at this point. These are observations on reality. Eth price and btc price aren't directly correlated. Typically, people don't shill bitcoin on a bitcoin board. Remember, eth is the alt here  People shill BTC everywhere FFS. Look at r0ach and all the Spoetniktard gang. Anyway how many times has BTC been declared dead. ETH development is just following the same pattern with one critical exception ETH has a fantastic community spirit. |

Methinks we are going to see distincly sub 10 prices after the fork is implemented, but given the relative stability of the price throughout all this fiasco, I don't expect it to go sub 8. But, we will be in 10 territory for a while. If there is one thing we can depend on, it's the persistence of eth holders ETH is a long term hodl. It should be for all investors. |

However, it is abundantly clear that the Ethereum Foundation is just not capable of cramming this square peg into a round hole. I own a little ethereum already but wanted to buy a bit more, however people are saying if dao is refunded with ether it will cause ether price to collapse. is that a distinct possibility, will price collapse because of excess ether or has the priced already factored that in and might not take a further hit.
