Time to get back to football as usual...

I don't tend to fancy the immediate week after any international break, some teams have half or almost all of their full teams playing 2-3 times, while some other teams players are have just had a long break to rest.

Villareal vs Alaves fixture have also been postponed, in addition to Barca vs Sevilla, It's just 8 games to go with for this round, and no match to really forward to for tomorrow.

We are still in early stages of the league, only 3 games played. Only team with 3 wins is Spurs right now and they are at the top, does anyone really believe that they have even the slightest chance to finish at the top after the season is over?

It's not going to happen, Tottenham are not even going to finish within the top 4, The best they can get imo would be at the 5th position. We might be up for a surprise but I don't see that happening.

It is obvious that Liverpool is back and playing well again, and City may had a bad start but recovered quite easily as well. In the end, premier league is premier league and usually the teams with the most money end up winning because they can afford to get bigger names.

Chelsea under Tuchel are really terrifying and looks like the real deal, they surely are going to give Man City and Liverpool a run for their money, I don't think Man City are in any problem so to say, they've got quite a number of players that can fill up the centre forward position and Gabriel Jesus is doing bad either to be honest.

PSG is a great team now that should win the Champions League. With Messi, Ramos, Mbappe, Hakimi, Donnarumma, Di Maria, Widjalum, if they cannot win the Champions League this time then there will be a question mark afterward.

I agree 100%. After the failed transfer of Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid (probably next season!), PSG is also the crystal clear favorite to win the Champions League this season for me.

Source: https://en.psg.fr/teams/first-team/squad

Look at their strikers, the absolute madness. How can they ever lose a game with these boys? To be honest, if you only look at the names and the market values of the players, PSG should not lose a single game. However, the beauty of soccer is that there are always surprises and even the biggest favorites have bad games.

But seriously, if they really manage not to win the Champions League again this season, they will probably never win it.

PSG are definitely the clear favourite to win the CL, even according to the bookies.

They've got all that it takes to go all the way if you look at their transfers in and the squad they've got, but the Champions League can be very tricky it's not just about being good enough, sometimes you really need to have luck on your side, It's a season long contest and there will be injuries, and tricky match ups.

England 1 - 1 Poland

I was very unlucky in this game, everything was going very well, I would have won my two bets, but bad luck knocked my door in the last few minutes, I was a little sad and disappointed with this result.

I was surprised by the amount of goals Italy scored, and it's impressive how many goals have been coming into these games.

You wouldn't have won both bets either way, In fact you actually got lucky that Poland equalised and you won your bet with better odds, you had both team to score, and England to win on other bet, If the game had finished finished 1 - 0, you'd have lost the both teams to score bet, which happened to bet the one with the best odds, if you placed the same bet amount on both bets, then you at least took some profits, which is good.

The match between Poland and England looked easy judging from the odds, the match has fewer goals than expected , and with less than 10 minutes to go I don't see a change of current score line which would have devastated many punters had Kane not gotten that go for them!
And looking at most games of the day, I think most of the favourites have won comfortably and hope you guys won too If you put some money on the games...

Poland just equalized to make it 1-1, That's all England will have to settle for.  Poland had the better chances to be honest, and the draw seemed like the least they deserved.

Not so much upset for today just Wales being held by Estonia would be the most unexpected result imo.

At least we can finally get rid of this international break and resume club side football.
4207  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: September 08, 2021, 07:27:43 PM
Today, Poland - England match will be really exciting I hope. Both teams are capable of scoring goals. Poland will be depending on Lewandowski mostly of course. There are more alternatives to score at England. If they are able to hold Lewandowski off, then England would win this with a nice result. Otherwise, I think that Poland will make them big difficulties. By the way, Poland haven't been able to win even one match against England since 1973.  Grin

I'm literally giving England the edge here, It's 35 minutes gone already and it's still goalless.

Poland have the better attempts at goal, but not of significant threat so to say, while England have controlled the game more.. It's going to be a close, but I feel it's going to swing the England's way.

After 2 unimpressive games Italy have seemed to have found their goal scoring form tonight, 4 goals scored under 30 minutes, with Moise Kean running the show for the azzurri..

At the moment France Vs Finland are in a tough game, it is just the first half and I see Benzema very worn out to the iguial that Griezmann, Finland has a defensive line very similar to the Italian defense, it is very compact, in fact its attack is very consolidated because it makes France move their lines back to their midfield, this game really promises.

I like the football that France does and although they are winning 1 to 0, Finland can tie and be careful if more goals are encouraged. The growth of Finnish football is very good, Europe really has a great football level, this QATAR World Cup is going to be very exciting.

France really have happened to lost their fear factor, I still can't figure out what exactly the problem tends to be... It's really good for their morale, to have the lead the before the break, despite playing relatively well in the first half I strongly doubt Finland will be able to match up the performance after the break, let alone get back on level terms.

Things really can't get any uglier for Turkey, losing by 3 goals and down to 10 men, all within the the first 45 minutes, currently they're 3rd on the standings, with Norway up 2nd position after the Netherlands.

Ansu Fati will never take Messi's place. Messi has been in Barcelona for a long time. He was familiar with any match strategy of Barcelona and was able to adapt himself properly to all the players on the team. Ansu Fati will need a lot of time to join the ranks of a world-class players like Messi. Besides, I don't think he has the same dribbling skills as Messi.

I agree. Messi was one of the most special football players in the world. One of the best for both Barcelona and the world. Ansu Fati is still a very young football player, he has many years ahead of him. I think he is very talented but Messi is a more special football player. We'll see if Ansu can be that successful, I think he may not be that good of a football player Smiley

There will never be another Messi, I'd agree, as there wasn't another Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Xavi or Iniesta... However, Ansu Fati can make a huge name for himself at Barcelona like all these other players mentioned, he's got what it takes to do that, and the fact he got to play a couple of season with Messi too would have impacted his experience. In as much as he's able to get fully fit and stay that way after a long time on the sidelines, he'll sure prove himself worthy to have been tipped as their heir to Messi.

Portugal vs Azerbaijan would kickoff in a few minutes, and the visitors would be without Ronaldo for this encounter and that's making me second-guess my decision on Portugal HT win @ 1.58

Even after 20 minutes, I still didn't see any team attacking well. I did not expect attacks and goals from the Azerbaijani players. They are a weak team, they will play defensively. But Portugal is strong enough, yet they do not attack as much. They just possess the ball. If played in such a way, the match will be goalless.

Portugal is leading 1-0. The goal was scored by Bernardo Silva in collaboration with Bruno Fernandes. Portugal's players have made only one on-target shot. And that is the goal. However, the match did not see the possibility of a draw. Portugal will win, I bet for their victory. I hope I will not lose money.

Turned out to be an easy bet for me in the end, I anticipated the win to be honest, but sometimes these favourites just don't get firing up earlier into game, it was different here, although there wasn't much of a chance for Portugal before they took the lead.

We are into the stoppage time already... No Ronaldo ? No Problem 😉

I have prepared a parlay for myself for the World Cup matches today. And honestly, I think that it is really good. Croatia must win their match definitely as they are competing with Russia for the 1st place in their group. Besides, there were so many goals in the Turkey vs Netherlands match before. And in the last match which is Bosnia vs Kazakhstan, I expect many goals as Bosnia have really capable players in their attacking line.

That's quite a good selection to tale tbh, but the only fixture I'm somewhat skeptical about is Bosnia vs Kazakhstan, I'm not so sure that game will provide at least 3 goals, but I wish you good luck on that.

honestly this really surprised me, Serbia is in first place in the temporary standings in Group A while Turkey is in first place in Group G temporary standings

Although Turkey defeated Norway and Netherlands, they drew with Latvia and Montenegro in their home stadium. And I think that they lost a big advantage after these happened. In my opinion, Netherlands will take the lead back by defeating Turkey home by a big gap tomorrow.

Mere looking at the group standings, one would think Turkey are in quite a form, but most of the qualifiers fixtures have been played as far back as march, except for the most recent ones against, so It's much more logical to put into consideration Turkey's performance at the Euro before placing a bet on this fixture, it was an awful outing for them in the Euro, and I choose not to believe that they're now a different team simply because they've drew against Montenegro and defeated Gibraltar.

Franck Ribery is on a move after spending some many times on the bench in Fiorentina in the last two seasons battling injuries, it becoming annoying to see a legendary player roaming about going to small clubs. Ribery retire please, wish Bayerm could take him back on laon to end his career at least for all he did for the club.

Quote
Franck Ribéry will officially become a new Salernitana player tomorrow. Medical in the morning - then he’s gonna sign until June 2022 for €1.5m salary net. Ribéry stays in Serie A after last two seasons spent as a Fiorentina player.

Fabrizio

I don't think Salernitana will be competitive enough for Ribery, I think he should have opted for another instead, China or USA would probably pay much better.

Ribery might however impress with the team though, I just don't see them staying in the top flight.

the evening matches are now also over and as i suspected today, kosovo has drawn (1-1) against greece. both goals were scored in the respective halftimes in injury time Grin
otherwise there were no surprises... Tongue

No much dramas, all scripts were played out accordingly... Italy actually pissed me off, It the second consecutive draw after conquering Europe in a spectacular fashion, they've failed to win in two last games, Jorginho probably needs to change his penalty taking technique, any keeper that has faced him before probably knows he'll be waiting for them to move first before kicking the ball, and that gives the keep a bit of an edge, Yann Sommer literally figured this out, it was almost an effortless save.
4217  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: September 05, 2021, 07:38:15 PM
man what the hell is going on here:

40 minutes played:

Germany 3 - 0 Armenia

I wonder how many goals can still come in this game? i feel sorry for the coach of armenia

Poland 3 - 0 San Marino

spain 2 - 0 georgia

it was expected

I'd say most of these results were anticipated already, I knew at least a few games from tonight should ended at least with 5 goals, Lol. Having Germany and Poland in mind.

Belgium ML vs Czech Republic was my go to and most valuable bet for today, Belgium were offered @ ~1.50 odds and that seemed like a very good bet to take for me.
4218  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- Groups Confirmed on: September 05, 2021, 05:52:47 PM
I do not think anyone can doubt the quality and the abilities of Messi, however he is facing a situation that he has not faced during his whole career, when he was at Barcelona it was the duty of his peers to adapt to his style of play as all the team was created with Messi in mind and how to bring out his maximum potential, however this time is different, he is the one that needs to adapt and not only bring his maximum potential but to do under adverse circumstances, something that is not easy at all but if there is someone that can do it is Messi.

I don't doubt Messi's abilities, he's a great player.

The point is that, it has been questioned whether Messi would really be so good if he played outside Barcelona, outside that style and that team designed for him. He's now going to answer that question, and we'll have the opportunity to see that.

Messi would literally have no issue playing in Paris, Messi has adjusted his playing style over the years, during is early and mid stage in Barcelona, Messi was much more of a solo player, he always relish taking defences in the individually, but later on was more of an assist make playing somewhat deeper behind the forward line.

It think it will much more be about the how the coach decide to use and integrate him into the team or style, neither should be problem.

Guys, I would like to ask you a question!

With Cristiano Ronaldo moving to Manchester United, do you believe he will be close to retirement? Is this plausible?
Because, I believe that the team of his heart can be Porto or United, will Cristiano be able to retire in one of these teams? And he's already 36 years old.

I really doubt Roanldo will finish is career at Man Utd, he is someone who wants to remain competitive always, If he's unable to produce or match the level of competitiveness in the EPL again, he might ended playing far away from Eurpoe, perhaps one or two seasons in the MLS.

Barcelona are keen to sign Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig, reports as per Goal.com established that Barcelona are scheduling a meeting with the players and club representatives to complete a deal for transfer in January.

-snip-

Aurier can play in every major team in top five leagues, it's surprising teams don't make a move. I wonder what's his wage demand? Fenerbahçe was interested signing him but even if they will they can't use him in EL group stage now. Ribery is wanted by Karagümrük, it would be interesting to watch him in Turkey after all these years. He may retire here as well. David Luiz is another surprising name that couldn't find a club yet. He may either play in Brasil or Turkey as there are transfer offers for both countries.
Aurier is linked to Arsenal in the first place otherwise to Ligue 1 team or less likely Barca or Juve.
Ribery will sign with Salernitana, it was linked also to Verona but was denied later.
David Luiz, well still not clear, Turkey? Brazil? or Serie A? Since he cares much about money AFAIK, he can join a club in Saudi Arabia or Qatar for 2 years then retire in Brazil.

Aurier to Arsenal would probably make much sense, since Arsenal have let Hector Bellerin joined Real Betis during the transfer deadline, but I strongly doubt Barcelona would be making any move for the player.
