4201  Economy / Economics / Re: US economy wouldn't be shut down again despite the rising case count on: June 12, 2020, 01:49:14 PM
The dismal economic outlook from the US Federal Reserve and the state of the million coronaviruses in the US still make the economic outlook largely uncertain.
All of these variables led to US stocks falling at the close, as all three indicators recorded their worst performance since March 16

The Dow (INDU) closed 1,862 points, or 6.9%, lower. The index fell back below 26,000 points for the first time since the start of the month.
The S&P 500 (SPX) ended down 5.9%, closing at its lowest total points since late May. Only one S&P stock, grocery chain Kroger (KR), closed in positive territory.
The Nasdaq Composite (COMP), which hit all-time highs on the first three days of the week, closed 5.3% lower.

"We cannot close the economy again. I think we have learned that if you shut down the economy, it will do more damage, not just economic damage, but there are other regions," according to CNBC Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin.

What are your expectations for the third and last quarter of this year?

Source ---> https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/11/investing/global-stocks-coronavirus-fed/index.html

I'm expecting the next phase of the US decision to be on massive job creation because closing down the economy has led to job cut which has a dwindling effect on the economy. Therefore, for a rapid and multiplier effect jobs have to be generated so that it will cushion the hardship in turn boost the country's gdp.

@hugeblack the key reason that they’re not keen on extending the lockdown is, because of the current state of the US economy which has remained neutral despite several economic activities opening up.

Furthermore the US labor department yesterday announced that another 1.5 million people, have filed their claims for unemployment benefits, and this is another reason why the lawmakers are not keen on extending the lockdown.

Lastly Jerome Powell chair of the Federal Reserve has claimed that people will find it very difficult to get meaningful employment opportunities, hence the lawmakers are trying to keep the economy open, otherwise people won’t be able to find job opportunities, and they’ll continue to remain unemployed which will further hurt the US economy.

Quote

The sell off started after the US labor department announced another 1.5 million people had filed for unemployment benefits and the number of coronavirus infections passed 2m even as states across the US continued to relax their quarantine measures.

A month into efforts to broadly reopen the U.S. economy there is little clarity either on the pace and durability of the recovery, or on the ability to convincingly suppress the virus that has killed more than 112,000 Americans.

~ Is this perhaps the final farewell of a tennis legend?
I like that you said "final" farewell because I can no longer count how many times fans have speculated about his retirement. I also don't recall him saying having a final season. Resting up worked well for him the last time, it could work again. Who knows if we get to see him winning one or two more titles when he returns and the retirement talks will be dismissed again.

Federer has gone into this sort of 'sabbatical' since 2017, so perhaps everyone thought that he is going retire, but he is not. He is just resting and selecting tournaments he wanted to join and has higher chance of winning. So I don't see him retiring anytime soon, he will continue after this pandemic and when that knee injury heal. Of course, he is old, but Father Time will caught up on him, but for me he can still play good tennis in the next 2-3 years.

@btc_angela Federer is definitely not retiring in 2020, as he had clearly hinted that we will see him participate in next year’s Australian Open tournament. However beyond 2021 it looks very difficult for him to carry on as he’s suffered multiple injuries over the year’s, and his recent setback shows that he may not even play the entire season in 2021, hence we all should be prepared to see him retire by mid 2021.

Gates must have listened to that old song sung by Perry Como, Seattle... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oRVwciEfbY. Look at her now.

This is What "No Police" Looks Like in Seattle

Protesters have taken over the area around the East Police Precinct in Seattle. The precinct building has now been abandoned by the police.

The protesters are now calling the area they control "The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone."

So what goes on in this police free zone?

The Seattle Times reports:

[Assistant Seattle police chief Deanna Nollette] said police have heard from Capitol Hill community members that some protesters have set up barricades in the neighborhood – and are apparently demanding to see people’s ID, and in some instances, residents and business owners have been asked to pay a fee to operate in a roughly six-block area around the precinct.

Meanwhile, Forbes magazine reports that protesters in Seattle took over City Hall for about an hour Tuesday night and demanded the resignation of the city’s mayor.

Cool

@Badecker this was expected as people are foolishly trying to take the power away from the police, and hand it over to a bunch of protesters who are not duty bound to protect them, or even follow the general laws in place.

Or may be entry in the Olympic is the key? There is a good chance if it get accepted in Olympics then fair amount of European or south american countries would show some interest, followed by North. then may be we can expect more money pumping into the game.
~Edited out~

Then we all know that the IPL started shutting the ICL which was another private company coming up with a tournament signing big players and BCCI and ICC banned several players who were signed to them and forced them to close their doors and then IPL started and followed everything what ICL did with cheer leaders and all those fancy things and this is recent history.

For global acceptance you need to see some kind of similar innovation from private players and for that ICC need to allow to accept them which is not going to happen.
This other tournament had kapil dev backing right? i remember reading something about it.

ECB trying "The 100 Balls" tournament which got delayed due to pandemic. It would be nice addition in the game of cricket as 4th format if spectators gives some positive response.

@JSRAW I had to use google to remind myself what ICL was, and it’s really sad that back then they didn’t take BCCI permission to start their operations otherwise the league wouldn’t have got banned. Furthermore the 100 ball tournament is not a bad idea, and after reading the tournament rules on Wikipedia, I’m pretty sure that it’ll be a hit among the fans if they decide to implement it in the official ICC formats.

Jordan Sancho is said to be 120 million euro in value right now on transfarmarkt right now, it is really not that easy to get a player like that. Of course, he would be amazing in Liverpool but lets be honest he would probably be amazing anywhere he goes. I do not doubt his talents but I doubt if Liverpool could spend that much money during the worst financial situation of football has ever been in just to get one more player.

Liverpool is already leading the league in a record breaking point situation and I feel like maybe they would be just enough without any transfers and spending any money. That way they could just wait another year, already got the title, and just focus on next year, that way they could spend a lot less money or at least see how finances will be like.

@FanEagle there’s no doubt about Sancho quality but he’s not worth €120 million especially in the current transfer window, and if a club yet decides to buy him then that clubs will be Manchester United and not Liverpool.

Also another breaking news update for you’ll, and I’m expecting @tokeweed to shout in delight after reading that Dele Ali has been suspended for Tottenhams match against Manchester United, and this means that Tottenham will be weakened right from the start and Manchester United should easily win this fixture.

4206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Ban: Russian Regulators do not want Legislators to Ban Crypto on: June 11, 2020, 12:57:52 PM

A report coming from Russia has revealed that the country Ministry of Economic Development has frowned against the draft bills which was introduced by lawmakers.

"If the bills are successfully passed, Russia will have its first regulation for crypto and other digital assets which would also ban any businesses facilitating crypto transactions"

The ministry points out that people can still purchase crypto assets elsewhere, according to the Russian newspaper Kommersant, which has got the letter, but the current version of the letters will not allow the government to protect their rights. Crypto-oriented businesses will also be forced out of the region, hurting the economy.

The Ministry argues that the new regulations should take a different approach and work on establishing a 'controllable cryptocurrency market' in Russia.

Source: https://www.coindesk.com/russias-economy-ministry-calls-for-controllable-market-rather-than-crypto-ban

People do not want government to ban crypto and they also want their right to be protected.

Can the government achieve a totally controllable cryptocurrency market ?

It has always been an unsure market for the Russians since their regulators do not want to push for outside cryptocurrencies but has expressed their interest on building their own cryptocurrency. This time, they stated that buying and selling of crypto can proceed but the ones involved in transactions wouldn't be protected by any law, which in my opinion is basically the government saying "you can do your business but only on our terms." It closes down a lot of opportunities in services and businesses opening in the Russian soil simply because of this uncertainty which, IMO can easily be fixed by the Russian government. Perhaps crypto isn't really the top priority of the Russians in the meantime, and has always been for the past 5 years (same with China.)

Russia makes a non-statement about Bitcoin yet again. At this point it's not even worth reporting it, since no actual changes are being made. And on top of that, Russia isn't economically important to crypto, it doesn't have much crypto businesses and people don't own much crypto compared to westerners. Even if Russia will ban Bitcoin, it's no big deal.

@thesmallgod @dothebeats it seems to me that Russia is struggling to take a final decision when it comes to Bitcoins, because in 2018 they wanted to ban bitcoins, but after a while they decided that they’ll regulate it, but no law was passed to regulate it.

Also @hatshepsut93 I feel that you’re correct and they’re indeed making such statements with a aim to cause panic in the crypto market, but I don’t that think their tactics will work.

Zilliqa an alt coin has managed to surge up to 950% from March till current date, which brings up an important question for investors whether they should invest in this coin, and hope for further rallies or avoid investing in it?.

In my personal opinion I would advise you’ll stay away from this coin because it has the makings of a pump and dump scheme written all over it, and further I'm expecting that it’s prices will crash soon.

However if anyone feels that they can yet profit from this coin, then do post your views below as it’ll help others make an informed decision whether they should invest in this coin or avoid investing in it.

^  Errr...  Man United is still the biggest club in England.

And yup, City will be fine without CL football for a couple of years.  I guess they should take that time to focus on the academy and prepare the club without Pep.

Well, that depends on what you call as big.

Is it the richest?
Is it the most wanted club for players?
Is it the one with most wins in the Premier or Cl?

In England?  United is def the richest.  And I can honestly tell you that I'm saying it blind without searching for it online.  But feel free to look.  I could be wrong.

And as far as trophies won combined with finances as a company?  Def the biggest.  Won't speak for most wanted players as I don't think it's really a good metric to use.

@tokeweed as a Manchester United supporter I’ll definitely support your statement because Manchester United is a global club, and on the other hand Man City has only grown in the last few years.

If you’ll bother to see then Manchester United is bigger not because of it’s money power, or the trophy’s that they have won, it’s bigger because of it’s history and Manchester City can never achieve it, hence I’ll always consider them as a small club in comparison to Manchester United.

4209  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Democrats Unveil Police Reform Bill on: June 11, 2020, 03:34:17 AM
Once I read through a the Democrat plan to reform the police, it does seem like there are some good ideas present there that will help policing. I'll list some of them out below, and explain my thoughts on it.

Require all uniformed federal police officers to wear body cameras  - Nothing wrong here, helps good cops show that some complaints on them are bs and makes sure that bad cops are dealt with swiftly.

Create a National Registry to track police misconduct and use of force - Sounds fine with me, not sure who is going to be able to see this (the public, internal government watchdog, etc) but it sounds fine from an accountability standpoint.

Make it easier to prosecute police misconduct - Yet again, sounds fine, not sure on what the actually legalese ill be for this -- but on the surface it is fine.

I think a major roadblock that we're going to see here is that state and local governments have most of the control when it comes to the law enforcement officials that are typically scrutinized, mostly b/c of the fact that these are the officers that most people are going to interact with at some point. They could use federal funds to incentivize change, though I'm not sure if the constitution allows for the government to mandate the use of bodycams.

There is more to this bill --https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/08/us/politics/democrats-police-misconduct-bill-protests.html -- but I do want to hear what others think about it and what they think should be added, removed, etc.

@squatz1 I am surprised that you have failed to mention that this is another political move by the Democrats who very well know that this bill shall never be passed, and yet they’re playing with people’s sentiments for their own political gains. Also one of the reforms that you have mentioned can spectacularly backfire as hackers can hack into police body cam, and release sensitive information to the public, hence in my personal opinion this bill is flawed. Lastly I’m not surprised that the Democrats are using this bill, to cash in the sympathy ahead of the upcoming elections, but I feel that US citizens are smart and they’ll not fall for such gimmicks.

Between having bundesliga for a while, we are going to have 3 amazing leagues plus few not so bad leagues all together and that will be awesome. From what I can see we are going to have serie A, la liga and premier league.

@darewaller after a long wait now we will finally see football return to La Liga and the Premier League, and I can’t wait for Real Madrid vs Barcelona to revive their rivalry once again, because they’re only separated by two points, hence the title race is not over in La Liga and either one of them can win the league title.

Further Liverpool have almost won the premier league title now, but I’m yet excited to see Pogba and Fernandes link up and play together, and hopefully these two can help Manchester United seal the fourth spot, and secure their place in next year’s champions league.

If you had referred people from your website somehow that might have paid off increasingly.  Its not just this website where that can work out, I know of someone who is self made millionaire in UK, started off a journalist and by referring people to electric company discounts and he gets a very small percentage of their business or electric used every year forever.   He has long since stopped doing that as he is successful as a trader now but still it pays him and he can use the cash for trades/bets.
If Freebitco is paying that referral % forever potentially its the biggest pay of all, going forward there is still massive amount of people who haven't any idea about this website and would probably use it if they did, crypto is still expanding.    If I had twitter follower userbase or anything like that I'd be hoping to pick up a few signups tbh and theres no sellout to it as its genuinely a decent site to be signed upto.

@STT I’ll second that as I too had joined Freebitco as someone’s referral who promised me 80% ref back, and had he not advertised that i would get such a high ref back amount then I probably would not have signed up.

Also if you wish to get referrals for Freebitco then create a YouTube video, search low competition keywords for it, and send some backlinks to it with some luck you should be able to get some referrals.

@davinchi that's already good for your ram space if you have other apps to open. The amount of ram space that Opera use could be enough for you but if that's still inconvenient.

As Juggy mentions, let's wait for the update and this might be considered and included to the upgrade.

@jossiel indeed the site shall load at a faster rate then before because they’re changing the entire UI, which is designed for best UX hence we all should benefit from the new updates. However if anyone is currently facing any kind of speed issue it’s best to login and ask their support for help, because they may already have a fix for these kind of issues.

As of now, dozens of web pages had been designed with others soon to follow. Every element of the new design, regardless of how small, is being double-checked to meet UX/UI best practices requirements with the ultimate goal for the product to reach the highest standards of user-friendliness.

Today's matchup sees Crash take on our newest game, Slide!!

RT for Crash
Like for Slide

The game with the most RT's or Likes will go onto the next round!! Voting closes in 24 hours.

https://twitter.com/Stake/status/1270173864220340224

Do we have a twitter account to decide? Or how do we decide? It looks like you just said "starting from next week" but that is about it, you didn't give any more info about how the voting will happen. Plus shouldn't it simply be just wagering? You have tons of games and you just have to check how much each game gets wagered and you will see which one people like more.

Well, maybe that won't happen because if one huge whale likes one game while 100 different people like another game, that huge whale could overweigh the other one so maybe it won't work. However this is a casino and casinos are in business to make money (like any other business) and the only way to make money is to get wagering which still shows maybe wagering is still the way to decide if you ask me.

@jostorres they have clearly specified that the game with the most Retweet’s will proceed to the next round, hence you’ll need to use a twitter account if you wish to vote for your favourite game.

Why do you want to determine what the best Stake.com game is? I just hope you not going to remove the one with the least votes, because there should be enough room for all of them.... right?

I hope you are going to add some more Slot games, because the one game is becoming very boring  now.... I am putting it on mute now, because I cannot listen to the audio anymore. Well, let's hope this is done to determine what type of games should be added in the future, because Slots will definitely be one of them.  Wink

@Kakmakr I believe that they have multiple objectives behind this move e.g. 1) promote their existing games which people may have forgotten/might not know exists, 2) save money on additional market research, and then study these results and later curate more similar games on the site which majority of their user base wants. In my personal opinion this is a clever strategy deployed by Stake, and it’ll be really interesting to see it’s impact on the site in the long run.
4214  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Zcash users need to read this and stop carelessly transferring your coins. on: June 09, 2020, 03:49:57 AM
I had earlier reported here that your Zcash transactions are not safe, and those transactions can be traced back to you and now Chainalysis has confirmed this, and they have also claimed they can track Dash coins too. However what surprised me was Dash coins CEO statement where he welcomed Chainalysis tracking ability of the transactions done using Dash coins, because Dash coins most important feature is it’s privacy, and if that’s been invaded how is it a good thing for Dash coin users?.

Quote

"Dash offers users the option of privacy-enhanced transactions because user safety is important for mainstream adoption of cryptocurrency, and it is there for end users that value that functionality. At the same time, Chainalysis is a leading provider of advanced AML and blockchain analytics that is necessary for money services businesses needing to balance privacy needs with compliance needs. Ultimately, both promote the safe use of cryptocurrencies, while ensuring access to legacy financial markets, so I’m pleased that Chainalysis has chosen to implement Dash into their platform."

Just want to add one point. Even if this fight goes ahead (despite the huge gap in weight), don't expect any fireworks from either of the two. Both the fighters are well past their fame and I strongly suspect that they are trying to earn a few million USD, to boost their retirement savings. Unlike the case with their previous fights, both GGG and Manny don't hold any bad blood against each other.

@Vishnu.Reang I don’t think that this match will actually take place this year, because Manny suddenly can’t weight up to match Golovkin weights, and the only way this match can take place is if both agree to a middle weight match, but again the possibility of this is less. Furthermore Golovkin has his trilogy matches to complete against Canelo, hence he’ll focus more on those matches, but if anyone has any confirmation about this match do post below because I couldn’t find anything about it online.

4216  Economy / Gambling discussion / UK rules will hit loot boxes games hard - as they’re turning kids into gamblers. on: June 08, 2020, 01:45:35 PM
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (UK) will start gathering evidence to classify loot boxes game’s under the gambling laws, as they feel that these games are turning UK kids into future gamblers.

In case you don’t know what loot boxes are then in simple terms they’re upgrades that you can buy after you have installed the game, but you won’t know what kind of upgrades you’ll get, hence there’s an element of chance involved.

Lastly if UK decides to reclassify loot boxes game’s under the gambling laws then they’re going to hurt a industry worth $23 billion, but I feel that they’ll right to do it as it’ll help many kids who otherwise would have developed gambling addiction symptoms at a young age.

Quote

Loot boxes allow players to spend money on in-game rewards such as special characters or equipment, without knowing what they will get.

Quote

Games with loot box mechanics have long proven controversial, with critics and gamers alleging similarities to gambling and warning of their appeal to younger audiences. Some players have shared stories of their own descents into unwittingly addictive behaviour, including the UK player who discovered via GDPR that he had spent over $10,000 in just two years.

4218  Economy / Gambling discussion / Gambling operations begin in Latvia on June 9, & in UK it’ll begin on July 4th. on: June 08, 2020, 07:09:55 AM
Latvia’s parliament has passed a bill which allows all legal casinos to begin their operations from 9th June, and with this bill they have ended the state emergency which was put in place to tackle covid19.

It’s pertinent to note that not all Latvian leaders were happy about this bill, and they submitted an updated bill to uphold the ban on land based casinos, but their bill was rejected by the parliament.

Also the UK government has given permission for casinos to resume their operations from 4th of July, and I hope both these countries don’t regret their decision, as it’s clear that they’re choosing money over people's life’s.

Lastly around 25 US states too have opened their casinos for their citizens, and this is scary and really sad because US is badly effected by Covid19, but yet they’re prioritising revenue over their citizens life’s.

If there is a clarity when everything is set to resume then the ICC can resume with the tournament.
There are varied ideas and opinion about conducting the world cup from former players and these are situations that is really confusing and have no idea what is the idle solution for the problems we are facing in this world. The pandemic situation is getting better than we used to have and New Zealand and Australia are far better than the rest of the most affected areas and we might have a clarity in the coming months.

@7788bitcoin according to Michael Holding who’s a former West Indies pacer, he has suggested that BCCI should be allowed to stage the IPL if ICC fails to organise the T20 World Cup. Also according to Dean Jones who’s a former Australian cricketer he has made a smart suggestion, i.e. to shift the T20 World Cup venue from Australia to New Zealand as New Zealand has almost won the battle against Covid. However at this stage we do not know whether we will be seeing IPL or we will be seeing the T20 World Cup, and till the ICC announces it’s final decision we can only continue to speculate about these events.

Modern life was progressing so fast and people were so busy about their daily life, their career and about themselves. But sudden gust of wind has changed everything and the wind is Corona virus.

Corona virus has attacked in China in 2019 and it has spread all over the world and it still is spreading like a fire in 2020.Because of the corona virus, society life has greatly damaged.People are less communicating with others because there is a risk of corona infection. As you you corona virus is a communicable disease.

As a result, people are getting jobless and it greatly impacted on economy and society. But some politician such as village member, chairman and minister etc are trying to help people  so that people don’t die out of hunger. But as you know it is not enough and people are coming out of home and corona are  infecting more people.

Lastly,we can just hope and pray that corona will finish very soon but i don't know how  economy will comeback to its previous condition.

@Shohag123 while the politicians around the world are busy blaming China for their role in the spread of covid19, I believe that all the political leader’s of the world too are equally responsible as many country’s had their first cases reported in January, but most of the country’s decided to take action only in late March.

Further just imagine had all the country’s taken precautions from January itself then covid would never have spread so much, and countless lives could have been saved.

Lastly as far as the economy is concerned I can only say one thing spend your money only on the necessary stuff, and save money by cuttings down on unnecessary travels, or buying fancy gadgets etc, this phase too shall pass but till it does be careful with how you use your funds.
